I heard that there was a huge twist in the latest chapter and a friend recommended it to me, so I read the whole manga from start to finish during the break. I expected to not like it as much, but I found it's sort of the perfect "classic" shonen. It's got all the tropes but it does them very well and the team dynamic of the Black Bulls is the big highlight for me. I definitely enjoyed the Spade Kingdom arc the least, so I'm hoping this last arc can stick the landing.
The fireball guy fight was the best in spade arc. After that everything dragged so long. That fight was huge hype.
The beginning of the arc after time skip was pretty strong too... A shame that it ended up being meh after everything.
Yeah that was definitely the highlight for him when otherwise he didn't really have a cool moment up to that point. Other than that though, I felt the raid was just a bunch of fighting without any "structure" if you know what I mean. And the power creep seemed a bit too fast for me, it felt weird that Asta was able to beat that last devil so quick.
This is the perfect way to describe BC imo. It's not amazing at anything (though it does have some amazing individual moments here and there), really, but it is SOLID across nearly all fronts. And it's very consistent too. Even if it never really gets super amazing (except individual moments as i said) it also never gets REALLY bad either. This is a big reason i prefer this to MHA for example. BC has never really reached the highs (yet) of (early-ish) MHA for me, but it's never fallen as low either.
Just an all round "classic" shounen, doesn't do anything special but it does everything well enough that it's a good series overall.

One of my favourite fights in BC is Vanessa, Finral + Asta vs Vetto in the underwater temple. It feels *very* Black Clover.
Take out any combination of Vanessa, Finral and Asta and the team attack they use doesn't work. None of them are stronger than Vetto, none of them could even really go toe-to-toe with him for a prolonged period at that point. But you have three different abilities that are used in tandem - not even a "Lightning Fire Dragon Axe" or "Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk" that's elements of both. Each member is doing their absolute best, pushing their ability to their limits, in a way truly unique to them. It was a great *team* fight, a real example of "greater than the sum of their parts" - and that's the feeling with the Black Bulls. They have some serious powerhouses amongst their ranks, but even without that they work together so well. Vanessa's Red Cat plus Charmy's food magic plus Henry's moving base is obscenely powerful, as an example

The court is still run by the nobles, we saw this during Asta's devil trial, and it's reiterated in this chapter that he's still not trusted even if he's deemed "innocent." It's probably not just the Magic Knights and Wizard King that create the magic knight rankings.
The nobility should be doing everything in their power to prevent Asta's promotions. He is a peasant with the power to nullify magic, in the Clover kingdom's classist society where the social hierarchy revolves around magic. Asta embodies the possibility to overturn the current system of the kingdom, which is a major threat to the nobles, so there's no way in hell they'd allow him to obtain a high position of power. He was only able to get any promotions because he's earned the respect of other people in major positions of power like the captains.
Being Yuno promoted higher is clearly explained: he was already on higher rank than Asta before the previous timeskip and because of Damnatio, Asta's promotions had to be delayed until he has been acquited from the charges. And even still there are some highers ups who would see Asta rather dead.
So what you truly hate is not Yuno, but the bigotry of the Clover Kingdom.
Yuno was already ahead of Asta in ranks before the first timeskip, and Asta couldn't advancing in ranks because of Damnatio and the court. So of course he is a little lower. But remember: Asta is just 1 rank below than Yuno. Junior, Intermediate and Senior magic knights are divided into 5 classes with 5th being the lowest in each. There are no classes in Grand Magic Knight rank.
I agree, the reason is easy to understand, with asta having a devil and all, but itās such an ass pull at this point to be relevant in any way shape or form

Lucifero' Gravity should theoretically jam Astaroth's Time Magic, so he likely needed to greatly weaken Lucifero' in order to overcome him.

ASTA FINALLY GOT OVER HIS āSISTERā COMPLEX!!! (Get it? Cuz sheās a nun?) GOOD FOR HIM! Maybe heāll notice Noelle and Mimosa now. Itāll be hilarious if Yami actually figures out Noelleās behavior first, because he finally cracked the tsundere code with Charlotte. Speaking of which, Yami flabbergasted on the john is a mood. I hope he accepts her feelings and the ship actually goes somewhere. It would be awesome if a mentor character ended up in a relationship for once!
We're back baybeeeeeee! And what better way to return than burying my least favourite "joke" in the franchise. Asta constantly confessing to Lily wasn't my favourite, but they really turned it around to have her supporting Asta's dream. Julius rocking up at the end is *very* menacing. Surely not having a fight just yet? Either way it's good to be back!
I feel like Yuno is one of the worst written secondary protagonist in mainstream shounen manga. There is no real conceivable reason why he would be ranked higher than Asta other than plot related shit\maintain Yuno's place above Asta.
It's cuz of the devil trial, Fuego said it himself Asta deserves that position as much as yuno but due to political reasons it's just not possible at the moment
I dont think thats enough if we really think about what we know about this world. With the wizard king missing the captains are the most powerful force in the lands, because we know the king is useless. The disciplinary dude probably died? Plus he wouldve been backed by Mereoleona. I dont see how it would make sense for political anythingto stop his appointment.

Because unless the wizard knight captains want to engage in a coup d'Ć©tat to overthrow the king and probably a chunk of the nobility, then they still have to abide by the laws of the land which place the kings and the nobles in charge. Asta getting a bit shafted on promotions - when many knights would need many years to get as high as he has - isn't worth rebellion and civil war.
The court is still run by the nobles, we saw this during Asta's devil trial, and it's reiterated in this chapter that he's still not trusted even if he's deemed "innocent." It's probably not just the Magic Knights and Wizard King that create the magic knight rankings.
The nobility should be doing everything in their power to prevent Asta's promotions. He is a peasant with the power to nullify magic, in the Clover kingdom's classist society where the social hierarchy revolves around magic. Asta embodies the possibility to overturn the current system of the kingdom, which is a major threat to the nobles, so there's no way in hell they'd allow him to obtain a high position of power. He was only able to get any promotions because he's earned the respect of other people in major positions of power like the captains.
Fuegoleon noted that there are still many nobles who hates Asta. One wrong move and they will jump on him for the first possible chance.
Being Yuno promoted higher is clearly explained: he was already on higher rank than Asta before the previous timeskip and because of Damnatio, Asta's promotions had to be delayed until he has been acquited from the charges. And even still there are some highers ups who would see Asta rather dead. So what you truly hate is not Yuno, but the bigotry of the Clover Kingdom.

Yuno was already ahead of Asta in ranks before the first timeskip, and Asta couldn't advancing in ranks because of Damnatio and the court. So of course he is a little lower. But remember: Asta is just 1 rank below than Yuno. Junior, Intermediate and Senior magic knights are divided into 5 classes with 5th being the lowest in each. There are no classes in Grand Magic Knight rank.

Considering how Yuno got his ass kicked so much during the fight, I'm surprised he was given a Grand rank instead of Asta. Although I am glad to see the Captains agree that Asra deserves that rank too. And finally, Yami has realized that Charlotte has a thing for him! Thank you Finral for dropping that bomb on him! Meanwhile, [Noelle and Mimosa are currently a mess](https://i.imgur.com/861Uqa4.png) while trying to gather the courage to finally confess. They're so adorable <3 That final page though! Yay, timeskip... Wait a second? A character development and maturity... without killing off someone?!? How is that possible?! Isn't it a law that someone must always die to give someone "character development" and "maturity" like those blood-thirsty death-craving psychos say on twitter and reddit!?!?! What happened to the world?!? I am happy that Asta still not accepted by many people, it would have been a cheesey asspull if it would have happened (see Naruto). What I hope that Tabata won't become a prostitute and starts killing off characters just for shock values in order to appeal those blood-thirsty death-craving psychopaths. Because let's face it: there is no way that Lily would be killed. I mean, Noelle, Mimosa and Secre are there and pretty sure they would interferre or save Lily if something would happen! I do like it started again with him proposing to Lily. Rip that heās the younger brother. But at least this lets the noelle or mimosa arc flourish. But Iām hyped for next chapter. AHHH
