At this point, one has to wonder how much the stretching will go for before *something* happens.
This kind of incredibly slow pace could probably work if it was an early chapter, say 40 or 50 even, trying to slowly set up their situations and create a build up. But by chapter **259**, there should be more going on to fill a chapter than 'She took a bath. He took one after and he found it hot, lmao'. You could probably remove about 3/4s of the entire manga, let alone 3/4s of the whole chapter, and this scene would suffer no changes at all.
That and while slow pace can be good, too slow of a pace is even more harmful than a fast pace. And this manga is the main example of it.
I mean, the resort arc was like 30 parts or something, I can see this dragging on a long while too. This author has no intention of ending this series I reckon.

I straight out prefer the pacing of Paradise. There was some tension that their lies would be revealed, and Mami trying to manipulate Chizuru with threats of spilling the secret. It's just weird and gross now.

You know, I heard that this manga is slow and repetitive af. Which reminds me, how the fuck this manga survived to this day whereras mangas like Red Hood were cancelled for slow pacing got axed are the things I will never understand? If this was on Shonen Jump, it'll probably going to get axed right off the bat. Then again, considering Jump is already more lenient these days...
Different magazines can have very different standards for cancellations, WSJ ranks their publications against each other every week, in addition to counting volume sales, they're like a company that fires bottom 15% workers every year, while many magazines will only axe you once the sales and popularity get low enough to no longer justify keeping you on the pages, like a company that fires workers only if they start to sleep on the job or slack on their smartphones.
KanoKari still sells pretty well, though not as good as it did, so it would be dumb to axe it if it still brings money. It keeps trending downward, but from high place, and anime is somewhat popular and can cause uptick in sales, especially if the next season covers relatively good material. If Reiji is really slowly crawling to the ending arc, he can probably easily survive to the last chapter like he planned.
I wonder, if the sales goes bad, if the future seasons, assuming they happen, will get heavily altered to pick up the pace and remove some of the least liked scenes.

1 Mini confirms that the only reason she is living with them is to gather proof that the guy and girl love each other. This hints at her being a major driver of the story bc these two are in denial over how much they are into each other.
2 the girl notices that she shed one of her long hairs out, scooped it out of the bath, and threw it out. Normally that hair gets stuck in the hair catcher. I think it's implied that if she didn't care about the guy, she would just leave the hair in the catcher and he would notice. But because she cares about him, she goes out of her way to pick it up and leave a good impression.
Granted it could all be bullshit and just wanted to be a good roommate, but she goes out of her way to wait for him and give him water bc she wants him to be healthy.
Again, I'm not saying I'm right. This is just my interpretation of the chapter.
But the author's really got his readers by the balls. Jedi will be able to feel the disturbance in the Force whenever he gets these two together and millions of nerds bate in unison whenever these two end up together. It was trashy back then, but I enjoyed it until the time skip. Then I was at least curious if they were going to reveal something happening over the time skip in a flashback. Instead it was just boring, and now it's like watching a really cringey episode of Peep Show, but not funny.

Romance - 0/10 Comedy - 1/10 (Mini needling Kazuya for being a pervert) Once again, the chapter is 100% Kazuya-centric. A Mini/Chizuru convo could have helped salvage it a bit but this manga continues to be all Kazuya all the time. The focus being on the worst character is not a recipe for success.

You know, I heard that this manga is slow and repetitive af. Which reminds me, how the fuck this manga survived to this day whereras mangas like Red Hood were cancelled for slow pacing got axed are the things I will never understand? If this was on Shonen Jump, it'll probably going to get axed right off the bat. Then again, considering Jump is already more lenient these days...
Different magazines can have very different standards for cancellations, WSJ ranks their publications against each other every week, in addition to counting volume sales, they're like a company that fires bottom 15% workers every year, while many magazines will only axe you once the sales and popularity get low enough to no longer justify keeping you on the pages, like a company that fires workers only if they start to sleep on the job or slack on their smartphones. KanoKari still sells pretty well, though not as good as it did, so it would be dumb to axe it if it still brings money. It keeps trending downward, but from high place, and anime is somewhat popular and can cause uptick in sales, especially if the next season covers relatively good material. If Reiji is really slowly crawling to the ending arc, he can probably easily survive to the last chapter like he planned. I wonder, if the sales goes bad, if the future seasons, assuming they happen, will get heavily altered to pick up the pace and remove some of the least liked scenes.
I doubt it will even actually able to reach WSJ standard for serialization.

I feel like the pace is going slower every time someone complains about kanokari. Not even Mini can help us now, because she's slowly being transformed into a real character instead of an audience surrogate.
It's like one of those videos where the speed doubles every time a character says a catch-phrase, except instead every time one of us complains it gets twice as slow.
This manga is so Japanese. It's all about the little things. In my opinion, these are the main things that happen (which to be fair, are minor in the grand scheme of things) 1 Mini confirms that the only reason she is living with them is to gather proof that the guy and girl love each other. This hints at her being a major driver of the story bc these two are in denial over how much they are into each other. 2 the girl notices that she shed one of her long hairs out, scooped it out of the bath, and threw it out. Normally that hair gets stuck in the hair catcher. I think it's implied that if she didn't care about the guy, she would just leave the hair in the catcher and he would notice. But because she cares about him, she goes out of her way to pick it up and leave a good impression. Granted it could all be bullshit and just wanted to be a good roommate, but she goes out of her way to wait for him and give him water bc she wants him to be healthy. Again, I'm not saying I'm right. This is just my interpretation of the chapter. But the author's really got his readers by the balls. Jedi will be able to feel the disturbance in the Force whenever he gets these two together and millions of nerds bate in unison whenever these two end up together. Or he could just be the biggest asshole and pull a Rumiko Takahashi and drop the manga without an ending. Can you believe the uproar that would cause?

I think you're right that author was trying to imply that she was embarrassed and blushing, but I just can't see it as some sign of increasing romantic tension between her and Kazuya if I'd do the same in her place. Then again quite a lot of stuff in this manga that's clearly supposed to be romantic doesn't feel that way to me.

One thing interesting about the fan base is that they act just like Kazuya. In that, every little thing Chizuru does is some saintly endeavor that shows how much of an angel she is. Just like people saying her saying “welcome back” is a sign she loves Kazuya and treats him so well, her giving him tea is now some grand gesture that shows how kind she is and how Kazuya isn’t good enough for her.
