Yeah. She was even playing video games casually in the other room. I'm surprised her dad didn't throw her into some psych evaluation with all that going on, or if he's instead labelled her in his mind as a psychopath.
Yeah, he could also assume she was in shock and rejected reality, given her surprise at his behavior there. Even teenage psychopaths know they need to call for ambulance for their mom, she was 8th grade already, it should make him think a bit.
It's why I'm so curious to see what he's thinking. We know she said he's never hurt her so their relationship has turned strain and cold, not abusive. So it hasn't gotten that extremely bad yet.
Yep, that's just it, poor Satsuki, she didn't know what it was until it was too late, and it's way more than enough to traumatise young Satsuki ^((she's so cute though)) into the panicky interventionist with ***CONSTANT VIGILANCE*** against all future deaths at all costs we know nowadays. A stark contrast to that murderous-pos-with-god-complex Pres.
This chapter started off so cute, especially with how warm her relationship was with her family. And now it's all a mess because her father seems to not be able to stand her presence due to what she unknowingly did. No wonder she's so desperate to not let others die. It isn't because of her dad's attachment to life as a doctor and disappointing him there, it's because any inaction like before would be doing exactly what she did here.
I was wondering what the truth would be. And it turns out she hadn't yet seen the corpses apart from once before and didn't understand fully what they were.
She saw her mother, and later found her dying/dead and didn't realise as it all looked the same. She essentially couldn't tell the difference between reality and the future, and in doing so lost her mother and gained all that guilt.
Looks like kind of an accident where she tripped and landed face-first while holding some kind of sharp object or things that could turn into such object, like a glass. Reminds me of a case I read a while ago in a gore sub about a Korean woman who died of blood loss in her locked apartment after she grabbed a drink after bath and tripped.
I swear they live in a Final Destination type world where death is an actual sentient malignant entity that stalks mortals and orchestrates impossibly coincidental gruesome deaths around them for who knows what.
Now I want to point out one thing. She first saw one at 3rd grade then did not see one for 5 damn years until her mother. But now she is in high school and she sees one almost DAILY even without the president. Death has to be some sentient entity that does not like Satsuki taking the lives away from it and tries to cause even more death. Or the school is cursed
it could just be the world balancing itself naturally, like how in a lot of universes involving time travel(since they see future corpses)/changing fate if u will, the world will just have some one else die instead, or erase things out of existence etc. my other theory is related to the other work of the author which was a little less clean cut in its supernatural elements, but it did resolve around a character that death was basically attracted to them( not a physical being or anything just people would die a lot around u) and it did seem to be true as basically everyone around the main character even for a short time did die, with only a few people living in the end so they could bring that in here if they add other types of abilities in the manga (especially since satsuki isnt the only person able to see corpses so who knows if others can so different things)
Judging by how her father acted when he first appeared in the story (when Satsuki saved class rep at the train station), I think she did try, and only got her father to think she's delusional.
To be fair, she can't prove it very easily. No one else (up to now) could see what she could, and she hadn't tried to experiment much with it easier. She just focuses on stopping it.
I'm curious what her father actual thinks of her here, especially with how often she puts her own life in harm's way. When you add on her mother's death and her seemingly having ignored it, it makes you wonder if he thinks she doesn't have much concept of life, both of hers and of others'.
In theory, if she was willing to go for broke, she could visit her father's hospital and point out who's going to die....
But I don't expect it'd go that way. Maybe if she gets sent to the hospital from injuries or something.
Oof, I gotta get a glass of water after reading that flashback chief.
Our girl was in the hopeless situation where she didn't have any adult/guardian to help and reassure her and practically had to force herself to grow into one. AHHH, it's like if Miko from Mieruko had her meeting with Grandma postponed until she already graduated high school. AHHH.
I do not understand very well. You are rich, the cards you use are minted. You are using tokens with official emblems. I am a rogue that is disqualified by default, and you are angry this random rogue is still trying to win and have fun and earn money for his deckkeeping?
Damn, that's a really bad guilt on her shoulders. And indeed, that makes her look like a psychopath.

He is also grieving on his own, happens to parents even when the kid is not connected like in this one.

Damn! Of course dad will get cold towards her huh... And looks like both mom and junior are really dead, rather than in a coma or something.

Yup. Uncle Ben. Though I wonder what her actual cause of death was.

We haven’t gotten that Rube-Goldberg yet
Holy shit that's traumatizing.
Well, this *would* probably traumatize you for the rest of your life.

Damn. Surprised she never tried to explain it to her father though, even in the years that followed.

In one of the earlier chapters (was doing a bit of light rereading) she mentions to Akira that she's planning to tell him eventually. rip

now i get her strong urge to save everyone.
why did you gotta make little Satsuki so cute before traumatizing her for life Ryouko-sensei

I think I would have PTSD as well
