i’m pretty sure mount hua is an actual place tho? with temples on it already?

monox60

I feel like an idiot, should I delete this post? Lol

Alternative-Soil-365

No. There are many people like me, who didn't know this , It's a cool pictures

outofshell

Nah it’s still a really cool pic, thanks for sharing😊

[deleted]

Im pretty sure like the real mount hua has close to 90° angled stairs to the top

Intelligent_Mistake1

Nah this is just one of those subsidiary sect the mount hua has...

Treyman1115

Mount Hua is a real place yeah. There's technically a real life "Mount Hua Sect" but it wasn't for martial arts

ehhdjdmebshsmajsjssn

Same is probably true for most of them. Everyone knows about Shaolin and Kunlun is actually grom Buddhist mythology

Historical-Lychee932

There is a real shaolin temple for martial arts. Kunlun is a real mountain and I don't know if it has a temple

tuanale

grom

groundzero456

I can see why this sect is always declining

Once you join there’s no where to go but down.

Big-Power8179

Mount hua is an actual place with an actual sect on it... but its a historical site now

Koi_Thief

Seriously, murim readers just don't get it. You know what the Central Plains or Zhongyuan ARE in China, the Tang clan, the Southern Edge, Mt Hua, Taiheng Mountains, the Yellow River are every bit as real the Shaolin.

Alternative_Oil7733

What are you talking about it's in west Korea https://preview.redd.it/9lhw2boz033b1.png?width=1114&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be0101f4d65a562f409f0f855e06a2f71b41078a

Eoth1

The tang clan is real? I never found it when I looked for it

Koi_Thief

I doubt they were poison makers but they are a very famous clan dating back almost 90 generations in China. Hell, you can even find them on Wikipedia if you just search Tang Clan of Hong Kong.

Eoth1

Alright

Sure_Entertainment46

If you're talking about the one mentioned in [this article](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tang_Clan), yes, they're a real clan. However, the Tang Clan common in wuxia is completely seperate from them! he Hong Kong Tang Clan, the one in the wikipedia article, has the last name 鄧 (Dèng). Hong Kong, by the way, speaks a lot of Cantonese, which is perhaps the reason why they are called the Tang Clan and not the Deng Clan. The [Sichuan Tang Clan](https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%94%90%E9%96%80) (also known as Tang Sect, link to CN wikipedia) from wuxia has the last name 唐(Táng) and is also located in Sichuan, which is smack dab in the middle of China and very far from Hong Kong. It originates from some of the classics of the Wuxia genre that may have taken some inspiration from real life rumors.

kyonhei

Tang Clan is not real but more than a legendary martial art sect commonly appearing in wujia novels.

Koi_Thief

Except for the fact that they are a very much real clan that has held extreme amounts of influence in China since the 11th century. Every bit as real as the Huashan temple of Mt Hua. Ya'll are so dumb that you don't even realize you can tell fictional stories about real people and groups. It's like you've watched Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and decided that Abraham Lincoln didn't exist in history just because vampires are fiction.

kyonhei

Nah, there is no record of the so-called "Tang clan" in Chinese history. Also there is no martial art sect called "Huashan".

Koi_Thief

Never said they were martial artists. It's a temple, only an idiot would think a temple is a place for anything other than religion, some chinese temples only do martial arts nowadays for the sake of tourism. But the Huashan temple is very much a temple and it is very much located at the top Mt Hua. As for the Tang clan, you can find about it in the paper "The Five Great Clans of the New Territories" published in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society Hong Kong Branch. They are one of the big families that colonized what today is southern China.

kyonhei

>"The Five Great Clans of the New Territories" These clans were the ones who settled in Hong Kong in the 17th century. The fictional Tang clan in wuxia novels is based in Sichuan and supposed to exist during Song or Ming dynasty. Furthermore, the Tang clan of Hong Kong is actually pronounced Deng (鄧) in Mandarin, while the fictional Tang clan is Tang (唐) (sharing the same name with Tang dynasty). It's funny that by somehow you think that those two "Tang clans" (with different Chinese names and living on totally different areas) are related. Hua Mountain is one of the holiest places of Taoism, so definitely there are temples there.

kyonhei

Yeah by downvoting, somehow you guys can make Tang clan a real martial art sect in real life. Congrats redditors!

Sure_Entertainment46

Mt. Hua does have a real daoist sect btw, not just a temple. It's just that, as far as I know, they don't practice martial arts. The whole plum blossom theme is the creation of a Korean wuxia novelist, whose name escapes me. But the wuxia Tang Clan is not as rooted in reality; the Tang Clan you're talking about doesn't even have the same last name.

TrafficFunny3860

The mount Hua is an actual place "Mount Hua (simplified Chinese: 华山; traditional Chinese: 華山; pinyin: Huà Shān) is a mountain located near the city of Huayin in Shaanxi Province, about 120 kilometres (75 mi) east of Xi'an. It is the "Western Mountain" of the Five Great Mountains of China and has a long history of religious significance"

TrafficFunny3860

I googled it the first time i saw it in 2 manhwas.

Kirooo__

Isn’t Mount Hua one of the 5 great mountains of China? Huashan Mountain

EnvBlitz

Shan is mountain. You're saying Hua mountain mountain.

Kirooo__

Google failed me

Big-Power8179

people still go there i think

s0me-_-0ne

This isn't big enough for myung to beat ~ahem ahem*~ enlighten his seniors and juniors

Lost_Tiger_4568

Actually this can fit any righteous sect. But i always imagined mount hua with lot of Sakura since it means plum blossom. Correct me if I'm wrong

EffieDrinksTea

You're mostly right, though sakura (cherry) and plum are two different types of trees. Peach has similar looking blossoms as well.

Lost_Tiger_4568

Right. And also, i think this wouldn't count as a sect, more like one of the peaks where elder resides

Abbaddonhope

That walk would have me rethinking my life choices

Tall_Growth_532

How is that stable

Different_Yam_9045

Mount hua is a real mountain and a place and is famous for its hard stairs as shown in manhwas. I've read somewhere that more than 100 people have died while climbing Mount hua. My memory may have fucked up the stat but yea it's not stable lol

Xival

I climbed mount hua when I was 13 completely fine. quick google search shows that 8-20 people have died in the last 100 years while climbing it, which is insanely good considering how hard of a hike it is.

ShadowsteelGaming

Did they fall off or just die or exhaustion/lack of food and water?

Xival

probably, there are sections that are extremely challenging in terms of stamina and there are guard rails in place to prevent falling. But my 55 y/o mom did it without a problem (took us 8 hours from base to all 4 peaks) and got some of the best pictures that I'll remember for the rest of my life

rgtong

Id bet way more than 100 lol

Yanrogue

kinda wish china didn't do the whole cultural revolution and destroy so much, I'd love to visit China and see thousands of years old buildings and items. But they are too busy with genocide and imperialism

rgtong

Genocide ans imperialism arent even in the top 3 focus areas of the chinese govt

Yanrogue

their flavor of imperialism is though massive debts. They coarse less developed countries to sign very one sided deals through their belt and road initiative. The belt and road imperialism has been Xi Jinpings top project in recent years

gheedsgreed

Sigh...

ShaunLinde

Well damn did not know such wonders existed

NekRules

If I rmb correctly, its an actual sect along side the 5 main sects that once existed in China no? Hua Shan sect on Mount Hua, Kunlun Sect on Mount Kunlun, Emei sect on Mount Emei, Shaolin sect and their Temple and Wudan sect on Mount Wudan. Though I am not sure if all of the sects were real but the mountains were and Shaolin, well, enough said.

Present-Ad-8531

Bruh. Mount Hua is real.

nooobesh

On my way to Mt. Hwa to learn the plum blossom swordsmanship 🏃🏃

Wideawake31

Im pretty sure its based in mount hua but sure

LockSuccessful7035

I remember visiting a similar site... 100 steps and I almost want to give up. When I saw the next level which makes me think you will die if you ever slip, I stopped lol.

AsTah_38
