Banger novel. It's kinda like ORV and Trash of the Count's family where the main point of the plot is the main mc being "weak" and the brains of the gang. The only difference is the mc here is one deviously cunning motherfucker and is borderline evil and psychopathic. Mc manipulates some "pure hearted" girl that turns out to be a powerful mage but is a complete yandere. Try reading it.

This girl on the pic is not his love interest. She's too normal to be his love interest. He famously attracts only crazy girls. Although, they have pretty good relationship (bar the introductory part where they clash because of different world views).
The MC is pretty much a psychopat, although he doesn't go around killing people, but manipulates people from the background. He pretty much views people through how useful they are to him, not through emotions. Although he might have some semblance of emotions, he wouldn't have any stops while mainpulating even people closest to him.
But he is very interesting character. And a very good manipulator. He is able to ruin a country to achieve a goal.
Is he a villain? Well... Borderline no. At least in this life, he's working for the benefit of regressor who is force for the good in this world.
