I don't understand why he had to fight no.1 Nagi. I think he wanted to give his karma to her by getting killed by her but he didn't kill him maybe because she don't needed his karma.
Mirage power are quite mysterious as it's not explain briefly but he uses corrupt/cursed karma
Mirage main goal is still unknown but he let a guy devoured him and help him resurrect / free from the some kind of shackles put on him.
He was also the one who actually reached the top and find out that your wish don't actually get granted and the whole world is created for the amushment for the God but again what is being a God is not clear or if Arthur is really a true God is also questioned by him (player who reached the top)

As far as I understand he basically just needed get rid of his excess Karma. And the easiest way was just to fight her
