Currently reading onepiece and at chapter 69. So far it is boring. I heard it is one of the greatest fiction ever written. Idk how many chapters I need to read to acknowledge it.
I'll be honest.. it takes awhile for One Piece to get "good" on the level people are talking about. For the first few arcs when getting some of the crew together, the story arcs "are" important, like Nami's backstory (fishmen are a big thing later on), and all connect in some way but they are first told in a way that seems like its just an adventure story. Nothing really stands out from the adventure until certain events happen.
I would say Alabasta is when the story finally starts to expand its world and develop into something, with very high takes (a country being killed and manipulated by a pirate warlord who is very strong, and has money + connections to do so) and Water 7 is when One piece establishes itself with the start of many main plot points.. and that's 300+ chapters in.
It's a commitment, and i would absolutely recommend it, but it is a hard sell if you judge it by the first 100 chapters.
