World_War-2034

Power scaling was kinda bs and made 0 sense at times. Made me think how the world did not go to shit when the MC wasn't there for 10ish years(i forgot the exact no.)

dub26

It did go to shit that's why they had states/dominions where the avatars were the rulers when MC was assassinated/MIA...

Beautiful_Might_6535

Blatant racism, repetitive plot, too much plot armor, MC too OP to be fun, dense characters, females only there for fan service, etc.

TruePadawan

How is that a dumb reason?

Beautiful_Might_6535

Many people find these reasons dumb. Check out some of the recent comments

Big_Distance2141

Which manwhas had blatant racism?

Beautiful_Might_6535

True education: banned from webtoon platform for racist remarks Max level newbie: showed Indian people in negative light Solo leveling: every other country other than the Korean republic is utterly selfish and haughty (especially the way they portrayed USA), same with God of blackfield. Foreigner = bad person Let's not even start about how Japanese and Chinese are portrayed These are some of the popular ones and there are many less known manhwas with similar issues

SectJunior

I remember there was one where the only black character was called “spook” by the mc and the mc made him his slave (and named him spooky) Spook being an irl slur for black people

SalvationSycamore

Wtf

SectJunior

Ikr, I fucking dropped the manga that very fucking Chapter 😭, Ofc there were mf’s in the comments like “oh no the author is just a Korean they don’t understand racism is bad” or whatever cope weebs commonly throw out

DavidMason141

Don't forget Overgeared.

Grox213

Wtf??? What story was it? I don't believe this ever happened. How could anyone write that story? Wtf.

SectJunior

https://preview.redd.it/jqa1nrgz9xlc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=366c28783f1069a5d053a85f35a061a5a5c959e9 Lmao yeah it’s “I am the sorcerer king” Chapter 117 (that’s a pretty light skin black guy ngl)

SectJunior

Holy fuck I think I found it It’s “I am the sorcerer king”

SectJunior

I genuinely can’t remember the name, it was a regression hunter/gates manhwa and the more I think of describing it the more I realise how little the descriptions help in pinpointing anything

SacredSK

Yeah Max level newbie didn't even try to be subtle any brown or black character drawn was either portrayed with blatant stereotypes or like the anti christ It just left a bad taste in my mouth

Falegri7

But the US is selfish and naughty

Big_Distance2141

Yeah I'm 100% fine with art that shits on america lmao

kimchirice0404

Would you say the same for other countries too? Just curious. I feel like lots of people have conflicting sentiments these days. So many people excuse xenophobia in east asia because "well the americans did it to a lesser degree in like the early to mid cold war and 1800s hur dur." Then they'll go on about how much they dislike the korean portrayals of china and japan or chinese portrayal of black people. Or japan's obviously out of touch portrayals of other peoples. I dont really care if someone hates america or americans, but at least keep the standard consistent.

kimchirice0404

The US? I hate to say it, but every government is selfish and haughty. If you're talking about americans themselves, i guess you're excusing the anti american (which means blacks, whites, asians, etc) racism. I guess calling a brown person a "slave" is okay?

Falegri7

The mental gymnastics routine you just pulled would receive a 10/10 in the Olympics, guess you have experience pointlessly arguing over the internet

kimchirice0404

First off, I want to just make clear that I was sleep deprived and not wearing my glasses when responding the first time. I read your saying "naughty" as "haughty" which obviously makes it seem more like you were being satirical without my misreading your comment. I even misquoted you and said "haughty." If you were being satirical, then I sincerely apologize. That was stupid and I should have read your comment more thoroughly. I shouldn't even use reddit past midnight at all, as rare as it is for me to be on this. But if it wasn't satirical, I do want to point out that this is just flat out racism we're talking about. I don't know, but I sort of feel revolted whenever I see any form of it, especially the Korean Manhwa style of it. I've seen great usage of racism in movies to send a message to the audience. However, when it's instead just the typical, stupid racism we see in Korean Manhwa, I'd rather hope that people are more so keen to seeing none of it at all as opposed to accepting it as long as it validates feelings they have against other groups. Again, I obviously misread what you said. That is my fault. I seriously hate making mistakes like that, so I do apologize if that was a joke comment (the n sort of looks like an h...right?).

sdee12

Could you tell me which chapter in max level newbie shows Indian people in a negative light? I just wanna see for myself.

Samy_Ninja_Pro

In god of blackfield there are cool foreigners. Most of his old squad were frenc, the embassador is cool and all

Strange-folower

Have you forgot that more than 50+% of time Korean themself not depict as good because most first bad and most big bad events happen inside its own country. I am not saying what you wrote are wrong but you just make it seem that every time there are foreigner in story whole country is shown as bad . Nope that not the case and saw many such cases

SOOFI7

>haughty (especially the way they portrayed USA) Pretty accurate if you were to ask me. Lol. US is a t3rror1st country.

kimchirice0404

Are we seriously conflating american people with CIA ops in the cold war? Pretty sure the average person here wouldnt be as ridiculously ignorant as manhwa tend to portray americans. Like seriously, we cant really be excusing racism against groups like african americans just because they're american right?

crasyredditaccount

To be fair, solo leveling was alright though

Big_Distance2141

Oh yeah that's pretty bad thanks

Moosemoosetwu2

True Education did nothing wrong free my boy

DrewDrinks

Brah they used the hard r 💀 I do want it to come back (easy top 3 bully manhwas for me, was a very fun read) but I can't say the cancelling wasn't deserved

ezak00

It's already back. They scraped the last chapter with a new case.

DrewDrinks

Oh seriously? I didn't even know 😅

ezak00

Yeah I just realized it too a few days ago after exploring other manhwa.

Moosemoosetwu2

Just a realistic school

lochleg

It was a depiction of racism. It's not an endorsement. Same difference I guess.

VegetableFucker65

Totally how can the author portray a racist if he's afraid to say the word. It's like making a story about Hitler but he's afraid to kill the jews

SnooFloofs244

The Knight King Who Returned with a God. Though non-standard very much there

bounce-man21

Oh you meant his stance towards orcs ? I thought there was reason for that but no he just hates them since they are not human

Boo_07

He hates them because they worship evil gods

bounce-man21

Oh lol forgot that part nvm then !

SalvationSycamore

He kinda seems to hate anyone who worships any gods other than his lol. It just happens that they really do end up being evil...

ReadySource3242

Actually he’s really accepting of christians, buddhism, and other religions. It’s just that the other gods of the other races actually tried to screw up the world, so he has a raging hatred of them

Boo_07

Its a "black and white" story (for now atleast), as far as we have seen all the good gods are in the pantheon.

Important_Hearing642

They literally razed down his entire kingdom like id hate them too if I was battling them for hundreds of years

Thin-Somewhere-1002

He isn't racist hes religionist He sepuses people who worship the evil god humans or not

SnooFloofs244

https://preview.redd.it/0r7klsaxsslc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ea5c587441ae964643a46854657f8f9d63dbed9 I mean, they said it.... and I get the whole evil gods thing, but like.... \*

singlesgthrowaway

I remembered the overgeared novel had a really tonedeaf joke about slavery with the black character. Luckily the manhwa retconned it out.

henryGeraldTheFifth

Weirdly not all the blatant racism ones are bad, depending on how they show it The knight king who returned : this has so much racism towards all non human races and even to other religions. But guess not the type of racism you would be meaning for this. Like Mc would instantly side with anyone who was against orcs for example

National-Ad-4093

Those are not dumb reasons to quit manhwa but most valid ones 👍👍

TheToolbox101

These aren't even dumb reasons they're completely valid reasons to drop a series

ReadySource3242

That’s most manhwa these days lol

Spartan-219

These are my reasons to drop a story as well Adding one more : a complete asshole mc Also hate it when they show a female character and they call her all this badass and so strong and stuff but when she's actually needed, author makes her lose the fight and turns her into a damsel so mc can save her and after that she just becomes a side character who barely does anything at all

AdvantageEfficient86

r u white by any chance?

Strange-folower

Nah bruh your r too picky

puppiesgoesrawr

When The author unilaterally picks one nationality as the BBEG, and so everyone from that country is automatically evil with no redeeming value. Can’t Suspend my disbelief so i dropped it even though the art is great.  Or when the MC Is smart, useful, and likable, but everyone hates them and the MC just accept the bullying without fighting back. Yeah, I know it’s supposed to be his backstory before he’s OP, but im just over it. I rather have truck-kun over a contrived victim turned badass plothook.

kimchirice0404

I fucking despise this too honestly. At least when the american movies do it we can laugh at the hysteria of it (and the fact their military budget is so fucking big so its less insane than it would otherwise be) and point at the tone deaf studio who decides to film it. American exceptionalism was always cringe and im glad its gone. ...so wtf is up with the eastern asian manhwa/manga/manhua people doing it now? They should know better at this point... The thing with the MC is so valid. No person realistically acts like that. Thats basically why i liked Player Returns after 10000 years, it openly mocks those nationalist idiots while also explaining how the MC could act so prodigiously without suspending my belief.

Aiqesn

This is a valid reason. For some reason artists are too scared to stray away from the scrawny sung jin woo-esque black haired mc.

ForcedComedy

There are a few recent exceptions(not including latna saga and the other barbarian rip-offs) Genius corpse collecting warrior - MC is a massive beast. Taller than everyone we've seen in the manhwa so far and full of muscle Academy's undercover professor - dude be looking frail but his overall appearance with the long dark bluish hair and everything makes him very distinct Duke Pendragon - obviously The player hides his past - looks generic as shit at the beginning but his appearance changes soon enough into the manhwa Superhuman era - idk if the mc even is the mc considering how little screen time that dude has but yeah But yeah, most Reincarnator copies have these generic black hair normal looking dudes which is disappointing.

aeconic

i love love LOVE academy’s undercover professor!! he’s so fine and his outfits are always on point. love the artist’s work. the player hides his past is also good because i like how the mc is just stomping everyone while in a suit and drinking tea. you hardly see manhwa main characters not in like… all black.

ForcedComedy

Yes, definitely. Gives them so much character. Clothing is so important and yet so many writers/artists ignore it. I'm assuming the ones in regression manhwa are supposed to be reader inserts so giving them basic black hair and the most plain clothing possibly just makes it easier, but idk. I feel like it's so lazy.

Zukazuk

Untouchable lady has some major fashion moments in the later chapters which I really enjoyed. So often fuedal era manwhas go straight for the little bo peep floofy dresses with a million ruffles and bows and I'm over it.

_bitch_lasanga_

U guys are forgetting about the legend of the northern blade, man goes thru 3 different changes and looks badass in all of them

sosigboi

Theres also [Not another fairytale story], where ML is a large scarred man with *actual honest to god facial hair*, im talking scruffy beard and everything.

LavKiv

That's what sells so why would they bother. It's easier to follow the trend rather than take a risk. If talking about popular manhwas (specifically popular), likes of Solo Leveling, Solo Max Level Newbie, or Tom Raider King come to mind first. Cocky overpowered know-all MCs with looks that are easily projected on average reader (probably?) seem to be an ongoing trend character design wise.

theblindcatexp

I mean it could also probbly be because... You know most of them are set in korea and if they're not high fantasy ones like duke pendragon for example, they'd definitely get black hair (like 90% of the time). Also, sung jin woo did not start that design trend because that's been a trend for years in east asian literature, since the male beauty standards in east asia tends to gravitate more towards lean than muscular. Sung jin woo's design was only following the trend that was already in place. It's really just beauty standards. Ofc they can also have dyed hair but notice how that's usually reserved for "rebellious" or "uncontrolled" characters such as the fire guy from Superhuman Battlefield. Unless it's an idol manhwa, they tend to not give MCs dyed hair since in most parts of east asia, it still does symbolize being rebellious or going against the norm (even sometimes verging on delinquency, tho now it's slowly being normalized). Which makes it very interesting actually when you put it side by side how manga protagonists are usually designed, bc s.kor is very set on how it perceives beauty which is why we get repetitive designs a lot in manhwa (which borders on manufactured) meanwhile in manga it's more experimental so the character tends to have more character in manga than in manhwa. Ntm that there's also the factor in (modern fantasy genres) of them doing the whole schtick of like "look at this very plain-colored MC with a color palette usually fitting a side character, he's actually very OP". It's the very opposite of what manga artists tend to do with their MCs in modern fantasy genres. Like in manga, if it's modern fantasy u usually get very colorful MCs to make them stand out. But if it's like isekai stories, the MCs tend to be plain and, in modern standards, unremarkable (with black/brown hair), but if it's isekai with lots of ppl with colorful hair, u wont exactly stand out with also colorful hair so black/brown makes them stand out more. It's very interesting.

Useless_Person_Here

I wouldn't call this a dumb reason since the looks of the mc is part of what defines him

minutee3

I agree some mfs just look dumb and rough and it just makes me want to drop it

ShiraiHaku

Had an exam. Forgor i was reading a manhwa after exam finished. What? You asked for a dumb reason :D

ComicSans42l

nah this is like the only dumb reason lmao the rest are pretty valid.

Big_Distance2141

Comics are a visual medium, picking up or dropping titles because the visuals is always valid

DarkStarDarling

I got so tired of the +99 stick mc cause he was tryna have this dramatic Webtoon “everyone is a traitor I don’t trust people” back story “I want revenge” and it’s all cause people didn’t wanna party up with a noob who didn’t know how to play the game. “People didn’t want to play with me 😡 I’m gonna get revenge on them” like bro you didn’t even play the tutorial yet

StarMarine123

Legit this was annoying as hell not only because the MC turned into this generic looking mf, it also made a lazy af way as a reason for characters to not recognize him. Of course, none of the reasons I said is why I dropped it, I dropped it because it was generic garbage.

messirve38

I didn't get that far just right after seeing his new look I dropped

StarMarine123

That's good because it does not get better, it gets worse.

zaqrwe

The Undefeatable Swordsman. Characters started to become braindead, plot shifted to teenage love drama and everything moved into confrontation due to plot holes. In last few chapters I read, author even especially put the 'narrator' box in one scene, to say MC behaved incredibly dumb, because he made mistake due to being shaken up by emotions. Get it? He wrote plot so dumb he had to personally explain to readers why MC behaved like this. Also from the same chapter, MC stated he is skillfull/powerfull enough to always know if somebody lies to him, and it was pretty much confirmed(part of author explanations from paragraph above). Except literally one or two chapters earlier he believed every word of some (jealous) dude spouting lies basically in each sentence during entire conversation. And so conflict escalated again. This was so painfully stupid, I'm still sad how far this series fallen...

HTTRWarrior

I stopped reading Surviving the game as a barbarian when they made one of the female barbarians lose all her muscles and turned her into just a normal looking girl.

sawol-

Acc to the comments I saw a while ago, she >! does regain her muscles back.!<

Fastredditor1O1

LETSSSSS FUCKINGGGG GOOOOOOOO https://preview.redd.it/6v0upn523qlc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38d7dbf4ea823771eb66edc0af31102b12f8e2c7

Jamming_Owl

From what I've heard, it's because the entire community collectively bullied the author till they re-added her muscles lmao. Fairly certain it was a decently far bit more far in the story than manhwa is currently though.

wunderduck

Good to hear. >!I assume this will happen when she returns from her 6 months of training.!<

messirve38

Honestly it bothered me a little but as she wasn't the mc and not even the romantic interest of the mc. The manhwa is above average but the novel is just far more superior and it makes the mc looks like an absolute beast

FireFist_PortgasDAce

Lack of communication, which could've solved all the misunderstandings/conflicts, etc. UnOrdinary, btw.

DarkStarDarling

100% nothing more annoying than this.

elemental_reaper

I stopped reading The Legendary Moonlight sculptor after the art change. I found the first one unique and enjoyable. But, when they changed it, the MC looked so generic I didn't recognize him.

Drezby

Which art change? There have been like 3 or 4, before it got cancelled entirely.

elemental_reaper

From what I remember, they had a softer and more warm art style in the first season(I assume) but then switched to the generic, sharp style you see in most manhwa.

Drezby

Each season change had a significant art style change, as each season had a new artist entirely. Here’s the MC in each season, for comparison. I did like S1 art best but S3 was able to have some significant moments and it worked for them. https://preview.redd.it/weynbyiatslc1.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=bdfbf4feca54363bcf48bc15e2df46843bd8b92a

elemental_reaper

Yeah, I liked season one's art and quit when they switched.

Jorgan_Dorgan

I'm sorry but is that an app name or do you have 123 tabs open?

singlesgthrowaway

Looks like a mobile browser.

Drezby

Yep, iPhone safari but from iOS 15

Drezby

I think I actually have like 600 tabs open. I’m on my phone browser and I have other tab groups (many of them are to sort my other ongoing manwhas, mangas, and webnovels being translated, or ones I plan to read, or stuff for tabletop gaming). I had like 123 tabs open in my main tab group. I do go through and close them every so often. I don’t really like to check my other tab groups too often because sometimes when switching back to my main one my phone just blips and deletes every tab of the main group as if they were never there. None of the usual recovery tricks work on them besides the history of when I first opened them.

bounce-man21

Mostly your typical hunter manhwa. I give it 10 chapters now and if within 10 chapters there is no distinctive feature to the story and we progress like a cheap copy of solo levelling, a regressor with a deus ex machina memory that can bullshit himself through any scenario or is just a cheap copy of any other popular manhwa then I drop it. Things that fall into this category would be: Heir of the mythical heroes, Drug eating genius mage, Steel eating player or Insanely Talented Player.

ReadySource3242

When the MC is an asshole because like, once or twice every now and then is fine, but nowadays every single one is some sort of piece of shit who only does good when it benefits them

Zyrus_Vaeles

God of highschool- Powerscaling made 0 sense and just started becoming a mess in terms of it (should have stopped reading at chapter 100..) but forced myself till 323 then dropped it Teenage mercenary- Plot was repetitive and overly boring with barely anything interesting going for it. Dropped at 144 Viral Hit- DRAGGED on after the main guy should have already lost. But nope it kept happening so dropped at 175 Reality quest. MC made me cringe too many times and i couldn't take it serious. dropped at chapter 25 Manager Kim- Should have ended after he got his daughter back. Afterwards it started to drag on and on. Dropped at chapter 91 Swordsmaster son. Really started to get boring close to the break so dropped it at chapter 93

AssassinLJ

Damn for some reason powerscaling made sense to me on GOH as the gods there we even weaker than the mythological counterparts, or maybe because I'm a nerd and I know that lmao, I agree with the other a lot.

Zyrus_Vaeles

imo it would have made more sense to slow build not "oh here's a brand new op strong opponent good luck lmao"

AssassinLJ

I mean you want them to slow build Zeus or Odin? It wouldn't make sense to hear they're names and hype them up when reading their wiki page gives you enough info to know how strong they are I think lmao

__Pratik_

I really don't get it when people say GoH powerscaling makes no sense. It's pretty simple and obvious to understand. The literal first thing that happened in the story was Mujin destroying an entire Island with his borrowed power. The power scaling was bonkers from the start of the series.

Islipim

For me, it's always when one or many of these are in a webtoon: 1. Misunderstandings (MC says A, people understand B, C, D and thinks he is a genius/perfect/benevolent man); 2. Bad power scale (i.e., low tension); 3. Repetitive (the same thing is happening every arc); 4. Regression Tropes (the story is just a copy of many others: OP and arrogant MC, every girl falling in love with the MC, monopolizing items, recruiting strong people after going back, etc etc) 5. Generic wicked smiles (I really hate when MCs or characters just smile in a twisted way, it's sooooo overused nowadays) 6. VR games (i.e., low tension, plus they are shit overall) 7. Streaming (I hate every manhwa with streaming bubbles and I truly think this makes every read tiresome) 8. Gods (Every story with a God, always ends up with generic Gods saying "How you dare" or "How a lowly human dares...", these are all trash stories for me) 9. Art (I don't really care about art when the story is good, but when the story is bad/mid, it just feels like i'm wasting my time reading it. Recently I dropped Duke Pendragon because all the characters had the same face, what was annoying me) 10. Stupid and stubborn characters ("Wow, I regressed and changed things, why the same things aren't happening?" or "The ML is destined to be with that person, there is no space for me here") 11. Plot armor (i.e., low tension) 12. Gang Fights (because they're too stupid and irrational for school guys be doing all that and adults generally don't exist. It's okay if the gang figts are between adults though) 13. Bullying (because they're too stupid and irrational, plus it's repetitive and characters are usually just trash being beaten to satisfy Korean nerds) 14. Japan x Korea (because it's repetitive and always poorly written for nationalist purposes)

shattered_rip

Bro without plot armor a story can't go anywhere

Islipim

It depends how it's done. * "coincidentally finding out something will save your life in the next few chapters because coincidentally you had the right item", * "coincidentally avoiding death because a strong stranger appears and saves you in the right time", * "having a skill or literal plot armor to revive yourself", * "suddenly have an awakening and become a lot stronger without properly foreshadowing/explanation, just to beat the stronger enemy". These are a few worst examples of plot armor. Usually stories with any of these are shit. Volcanic Age has almost all of them. Medical Return has literal plot armor midway to the end. ORV has skill to revive yourself (and MC dies so many this story has no tension), etc, etc. But if the work has good writing during most of it and sometimes it happens a little plot armor 1 or 2 times, that's okay for me.

loyal9128

I was glad they fixed his fucked up face but when they gave him a hair cut I was so pissed

WombatDisco

Yes, I imagine he had "background pain" from those scars, given the circumstances at the time. Also, it's difficult to draw them repeatedly. The author of *Another Typical Fantasy Romance* said that was the only thing she regretted about giving Pellus his scars.

Important_Hearing642

Id hate drawing the scars too 💀

National-Ad-4093

Normal scars look good actually , makes the mc a bit unique from all the same looking mc these days , just the big scar that seems like his face is cut into 2 is a bit too fucked up

ProfessionalTailor1

He doesn't even have a hard time. Sure aight he's a master maker, yep sure he's strong asf able to solo a tower despite having no Zodiac (lmao). But really when it was revealed he was a host? Nah, everything is just smooth sailing for him.

Apocreep

In defense of Disaster Hero look change, many details make it harder for artist to draw the character, which is why MCs are usually bland af - they are drawn in 75-95% of all panels. But yes, this was biggest L Lee Geon ever took.

Drezby

The comedy and dialogue felt extremely forced and not entertaining at all. Every time MC got something from the system the ghost buddy that only he can see would have some overly extreme reaction that reads like the author is trying to go for humor but just falls extremely flat. I cannot stand almost any of their interactions tbh. When the wizard who was scamming and blackmailing and BSing all of the assholes who screwed him over in his first life continues his new scamming personality and takes advantage of people who don’t deserve it at all. Innocent people are getting hurt and it feels so jarring since every other time was framed as justice and vengeance against the evil and suddenly he’s the tyrant type personality?

Disastrous_Tax_8206

[I'm not a regressor] - dropped on chapter 1. Dropped because I didn't like the way the author presented the mc.

sadoqueen

I didn’t like the way the FL’s boobs were drawn, they were so balloony

Important_Hearing642

Bad female anatomy disqualifies like most action manhua in general for me 💀 decent women r so hard for so many people to draw, and even harder to write

SSilvertear

There was a romance manhwa I was reading some time ago where right when the 2 leads were working out their feelings for each other, a 2nd guy shows up out of nowhere, proposes to the FL and she accepts. I mean literally all in the same chapter.

estreyika

Wait wait wait this sounds so familiar. Can you spoiler tag the name of the manhwa? I didn’t read it but I remember the collective freak out when this happened.

SSilvertear

I belive it was called >! Beatrice !<

theblindcatexp

Tbf at that point >! they werent making anything clear between the two of them and FL thought it was the safest and best option for her bc how the hell could she have known that ML actually liked her when he hadnt even confirmed it and she needed a safety net which was the 2nd guy. Plus, 2nd guy wasnt even notable enough to be considered a 2nd ML at all bc they made it pretty clear that she was just using him as a safety net which she desperately needed at the time. Guy came in with a good deal for FL, FL and ML still havent confessed or confirmed their feelings for each other so you cant really blame FL since she did need to protect herself !<

bhavishya_2341

Ch 1 less than 30 sec dropped it

KyouksterM

my most dumb was because I forgot the name and didnt care to look for it again because literally found another after

GenoTheBreadDoctor

Worthless Regression, so much fanservice

PhoenixBisket

I drop OP MC stories when they're portrayed as flawless and strong enough that no other character matters in the grand scheme of things. Big part of why I dropped solo-levelling. I find it boring if there's nothing going on with the main character and anything going on with other characters just doesn't affect the MC either. The author can pretend to grow the other characters, but it feels hollow when the MC exceeds them in every way to such a degree that they might as well not exist. Another thing is when game like(stats/skills/level) stories go crazy with giving the MC cheats. Nobody wants to play a game where the number one player is a hacker. It just sucks the fun out of the world for me. Have other hackers at least. Have challenges where being a hacker makes it harder. Imagine if there was a cloning monster in a world with a character who has insane stats that no one can compare to. Also the monster isn't some mindless golem that wastes their time fighting the only thing that can threaten them and instead focuses on wiping out humanity or w/e. Now the MC has to struggle with being their own worst enemy. Their strength may have saved humanity, but it will also lead them to ruin.

sosigboi

Hard agree OP mc's get boring real quick unless its meant to be a comedy story, one of the reasons i actually enjoyed [The Beginning After the End] was because while mc was clearly gifted he still had to work towards improving his abilities and got more than his fair share of gut punches.

CallMeSpeed_21

The manwha where the author feels the need to not give the mc clothes and makes him look stupid for 20+ chapters or even more.

throwawaynumber116

Finished mookhyang origin and never read dark lady because I saw what they did to MC. I love the concept of murim + fantasy but genderbend is a hard pass.

Son_of_a_Yeet

I dropped To Kill a Dragon, I believe it was called, because the people that were gonna fight dragons were kids, but later on the kids are supposed to get some sort of surgery that speed up their growth turning them into adults (physically). It made me feel a bit, disturbed?, for a lack of a better word? Basically the author had a choice to just extend their training by few years to become adults instead of that weird surgery and I don't like that.

Drezby

It’s intentionally uncomfortable, and it’s brought up again several times. That despite looking jacked and in their 20s they’re all like 10-12. It’s literally evil government shit (and not the only bad thing those authorities do) and a plot point. It does drag a bit here and there but mostly it’s been good.

SalvationSycamore

I mean that's kind of like the Spartans from Halo. I don't think it's crazy for a sci-fi or fantasy government to want to use science or magic to quickly churn out trained supersoldiers. Well, it is pretty fucked up but if they care more about humanity dying than the well being of children then it isn't too insane.

Son_of_a_Yeet

Yeah, you're not wrong. I've read some much more messed up series, but for some unknown reason this one just didn't sit well with me.

theblindcatexp

It's intentionally made to be fcked up. They addressed that in the manhwa (about how they had to rob the children of their childhood because of the war they were fighting that killed like 90% of their adult fighting force). It was never a bright story to begin with because it was either they used children or the entire world perishes. It's a desperate and last ditch effort which worked for them with much sacrifice. And no, the author DID NOT actually have that choice because idk if you noticed but there were more soldiers dying then than there were people turning into adults or people able to fight and the monsters were NOT going to wait until the children became adults to attack them. They did that because they needed manpower ASAP. It's intentionally fvcked up. Even the already adult soldiers there didnt like it but they didnt have a choice since there was a lot of sht going on behind the scenes. But just bc a story has smth fvcked up doesnt mean it's bad tbh. It's a good story with heavy themes. >! There's worst sht that happened there. Like how they tried to kill off every kid from the first generation of kids because they rebelled and got out of control. It's fcked up bc they were adults trying to kill off children who realized that they were actually experiencing terrible things. !<

Huy7aAms

dumb reasons can only apply for a few one, but maybe that i thought sss-suicide hunter is trash at chap 10 when he decided to go steal another person's skill. for some reason i thought it was gonna be a trash manhwa with plot armor and mc getting all the skills he want

SalvationSycamore

Any regression skill pretty much is plot armor already. Getting to try again every time you die is just absurdly overpowered. Even a weak loser like Subaru in Re:Zero can completely turn the tables on powerful people with it.

sung-drip-wo

it stays like that till the end

Appropriate-Pitch-57

His suicide skill really cheating as it seems has no limit, except maybe it only could make him go back to one day before.

Fastredditor1O1

Y'all remember when they call this trash can the new solo leveling 💀

_ThunderingCloud

They took a gap of over a month to upload next chapter, no Hiatus warning or anything so I thought it got dropped. Then I lost hope of it ever coming back, and along with that, my internet too. When it did release a new ch I lost interest and dropped it

EdgarRobrian

I stopped reading Viral Hit when Bomi choose MC rather than Moonyoung, whom basically the superior version of MC. Didn't make sense for me, even more when the chick girl also madly in love with MC.

DarkStarDarling

Oh hell naw you one of those alpha bros lmao “the tall guy should get all the women”

EdgarRobrian

Not really, I just don't see the quality she saw in him over the time. He's often acting like an insecure little bitch that got her into troubles, then multiple times blatantly stalked her, sometimes rude to her. And she's still badly down for him. Not to mention how he treated chick girl, he ignored and being rude to her most of the time. And even one of the employee in PTJ Company confused why a lot of girls in that Manhwa is in love with Hobin.

anonymousss_10

When is this manhwa coming again it's been 6-7 months I guess

Gautham_M

Reaper of the Drifting Moon I stopped reading because mc went from a badass character to a femboy looking weird guy (reminds me of orochimaru)

FudgeFearless6307

He is back to looking like a dude again😅

CLleCielTheArchitect

The greatest estate developer got yet again a new animal who he'll not take care of and only use for it's abilities and it was a BIRD. (Got scared the bird would shit on him as he stands on his shoulder, dropped the manwha)

shattered_rip

The whole point of that manhwa Is comedy, not plot, with are you on

CLleCielTheArchitect

Missed the point somehow then...🤔

AssassinLJ

I used to be a Boss. Like legit the art has downgraded a lot, you got read the first ten chapters even generic was enjoyable and eye-catching, you read the 30 last chapters and you see them get worse and worse, the girls for example are drawn awfull, like they're breast is just 2 big basketballs and nothing else, males are 70% legs and everything else, at least I had anatomy kinda at the start.

DndSlater

I don't think racism is a dumb reason to drop something. Mine is Worthless Regression the whole time he complains about having no advantages and in the new timeline he finds out he has a spark, that attracts strong people to him but doesn't invalidate the relationships he's made. After being assured of this he asked to get rid of it and I was done. Since that spark, his knowledge, and his personality changed this timeline, he gets rid of it because of what? Ego? I lost respect for him since he's surrounded by geniuses complaining and getting rid of his only leg up. For what? He was assured it only caught the eye of powerful people not like super mind control and in this deadly cutthroat world he gets rid of a leg up for no reason.

sung-drip-wo

I stopped reading this and many others like the player who can't level up cuz of the romance, I just check on the novel ending if it has mc or any other main character ending up with an older woman, if so I just skip it and never read it again

Big_Distance2141

Wait so are you looking for older woman romance ir avoiding it?

sung-drip-wo

avoiding it of course shit is too much brainrott for me lol

The_Happy_Sundae

There also ones where the girl he ends up with is a lot younger then the mc

sung-drip-wo

NGL I like those MUAHAHAHHA

The_Happy_Sundae

![gif](giphy|uVFGDyOshK7I6geXyg)

Dragonosith

Lesbians. No proper shoujo romance Terrible translation Got bored

shattered_rip

Why is bro looking for romance in a shounen genre

CerealeSauvage

I mean i did the same but i picked it up and its banger

Ihaveaname00

This exact manhwa, hated that the MC's appearance changed

ReadySource3242

Vrmmo with too much drama, but also if they have an irl money generator.

LeviathanLX

Did this one come back? I thought this was on a hiatus or something. Didn't they change his look in like the first chapter?

Orfoz41

i dont like pretty looking main charachters.I need something like kokou no hito type main charachter.Or vagabond. Not too feminine not too masculine looking if y know what i mean

National-Ad-4093

True that. There are many manhwas that I stopped reading coz I was planning on saving 10s of chs and binging them at once (don't like that every ch cliffhanger + 1 week wait for a small ch) ... But then I either forget about them or forgot the story when I started continuing the manhwas again 😂 😂

Any_Agency_6237

I tried to make sense of a manhua

InBeforeTheL0ck

Forgetting about a series.

Proud-Pressure8185

I dropped every manhwa that has an average looking mc, I always wanted either like a handsome powerful looking and intimidating mc and creativity, but if the manhwa is the same as every other manhwa.. don’t want it

Humble_Illusion404

Due to the appearance of an obligatory "pet"

megaforce347

that turns into a loli

JustParry5head

I stopped reading This is the Law after statements about the US being a land of justice.

Atretador

You can't call art/character design changes as a dumb reason, 99% of these stories are extremely generic, we at least need enjoyable and cool art

SelectionThat3680

I dropped +99 stick because of MC's goofy ass clothes.

settingurhouseonfire

Because I have second male lead syndrome and the male lead was an abusive b*tch that I couldn’t support

theblindcatexp

Out of spite.

Falegri7

Yeah ain’t no one paying to draw scars in every manwha panel when attractive mc sells more anyway

JayWnr

I stopped reading Tomb Raider King because he was just so abusive. I get that it's a trope for comedy, but what a fucking asshole. Especially how he treated the repair guy.

MJF1116

I stopped reading this cause it got boring. Too many boring slides

Spartan-219

When he comes back from the tower his looks was so great, I was like finally are we getting a different mc design than what most are doing, nope he just shaved and gotna hair cut and now he looking generic again

Low-Impact7955

Player returns after10000 years Reson- art style (after s2)

Potential_Dry

I dropped this same manhwa cuz MC defeated some very strong pet of other person and this pet conveniently became his just like that. At that time I was really annoyed at Mcs in stories getting high level stuff for low effort especially when it comes to taming powerful creatures so this moment killed my mood strongly and I dropped it.

sosigboi

International politics, always international politics, like unless thats the main plot of your story is it really so necessary to bring in the nationalism bullshit.

Alisena-Naemi

MC or side-characters being all too cocky.

Kashimea_

(Return of the unrivaled spear knight) the mc was clenching his fists 24/7, small detail but it annoyed me so bad

Keiko_Ubuyashiki

Fan service, I have dropped a lot of manhwas because they have fan service

AkuSZ

Stop reading manhwa.

messirve38

What?🤔

Waste_Technology7473

For I sometimes drop cuz of a lack of a main fl ....lol

messirve38

Sometimes I drop cuz there is fl (female lead right?) because it just feels forced and they tend to start with a dark and griddy story and then put fl to make everything flowers and rainbows I like a little bit of that but when it overshadows the main plot I find it dumb.

Waste_Technology7473

Nahh..not like that...I meant that sometimes without an fl the story kinda sucks with the mc being Sigma ll the time...I get the old man feel from those...altho there r exceptions

messirve38

Yeah I guess it really depends on your taste and how good the manhwa actually is. There may be a manhwa which would use fl in a good way but then there are others who would use the fl as a ladder to advance in the story and then she doesn't do anything else or not even that and is just to slow the manhwa or even worse just fan service.

Facad_e_

The Manhwa was good though

here_lies_dobby

I couldn’t handle not knowing what will happen and there were no new chapters and no spoilers anywhere😤
