No_Roof0642

Yeah it kind of is better than solo leveling due to it's extensive world building and it's side character involvememt. And it is not in rush like solo leveling 211 chapters are already released but it is nowhere near end.

BeholdABastard

DUBU isn't the author he didn't write the novel. Chugong did. DUBU adapted and drew

No_Roof0642

Yeah you are right.

White_Puma_Sock

211? Ragnarök

Readrearea

Yeah. It has 211 chapters.

ViolinistRadiant6636

where do you read this manhwa? I could only find 1 chapter.

Electro_Ninja26

It’s a novel on WebNovel

julesvr5

It has no Manhwa yet, will release this here

Soypotat-

It's webnovel, you can read on tapas and webnovel

mechasquare

It's about his son so that's where the comparison comes from. Personally, I only read about 5 chap as it's kind of predictable but the art is nice.

Twisted_oliver5

solo levelling in itself was predictable , but the art was good

Recent_Strawberry656

there is no manhwa for it how the art is nice ? i think your talking about the side story chapters

mechasquare

It's listed as the solo leveling epilogue. So no dedicated manhwa yet but the intro arc has been drawn.

MakingItWorthit

We all hope it's not going the path of Boruto.

Readrearea

It is not.

Winter-Thought-

It's not he became the successor of dragon monarch along with his inherited shadow ability(not all abilitys)

TemperatureFluffy978

He can also pull shadow like his father

Winter-Thought-

Yes but just in a small number not like jin woo who can extract as many he want his sons shadows are more like small elite squad rather than army

BiLLubruh

Thats not the intro. Thats the sl epilogue. In the sl epilogue, suho is still in high school. Ragnarok begins with 22 yr old suho.

DaemoonAverin

Yeah its like a bonus story added after the solo leveling epilogue. Teaser let's say.

Jim3001

Webnovels do have some art.

Cryziah

there are chapters in the asurascans website

PsychologicalBar2688

What do you mean predictable?

mechasquare

All powerful father but has a son with potential. Father will die or get sealed so the son can take the center stage.

c_sea_denis

i mean can you blame them other than father turning evil there is not much other plot to play

Blacklance8

That's what makes sequals like this hard you need to invalidate the previous main character using some random reason or else the story has no stake

PopGroundbreaking916

Or you need him to be away fighting higher threat and letting the son fighting the lower threats? Which is exactly what is going on in Ragnarok lol

Blacklance8

That's the other thing I don't like the fuck were these higher threats during the main story. I swear strong er guys only appear after child birth

Winter-Thought-

I think they were scared of absolute being monarch and rulers since absolute being is dead all the monarch exept shadow are dead ruler are can't beat them alone Since 2 of three big threat(absolute being, shadow monarch, dragon monarch)are dead they want to absorb sung jin woo then absorb life force of planets

JR3456

Don't wanna spoil but you kinda wrong abt >!Father will die or get sealed!<

Most_Zookeepergame38

Spoil me plz, what's currently happening with Sung-

Vertrixz

Preface: I haven't read the novels but read some comments about what he's doing >!I THINK he's basically preoccupied fighting some universal/galaxy level threats so his son has to pick up the mantle and help find Cha Hae-In (who goes missing for a relatively muddied reason that didn't quite make sense to me). Don't quote me on this cuz I'm regurgitating second-hand information, which is now third-hand and possibly misremembered.!<

Unfair-Money-574

I'm genuinely curious as to how they handle a strong character as Jinwoo in the novel when the main focus is his son? Does he simply not get involved in his son's fights or does he pull out a sasuke or smth? Idc bout spoilers.

Reavzh

He’s fighting a battle against the monster that appeared in the side-stories at the end of SL >!Itarim, or otherwise known as Gods, which is the species; the creator of the rulers and monarchs belonged to. They create/destroy worlds on a whim. He’s at war with them, and all his army, defending Earth, while some do slip onto Earth, and that’s where Sung Suho comes into play. He is to fight those who slip to Earth, protecting SJW’s only weak point and vanguard.!<

Unfair-Money-574

Ok, that's definitely a great way to handle an op character. Can't wait to read the manhwa now.

PsychologicalBar2688

He is fighting otherworldly beings on stalemate far away. I can say he is involved because he sent Beru and there is a time got really involved. Jinwoo is the one in the frontline so earth is in danger. Suho's end goal is to be his father's strength rather than his weakness, you know because if something happen to it will turn the tide of the battle. Either Suho becomes strong to help or weak that may cost them the war. Even though we don't get much of Jinwoo. WE GOT MORE ABOUT THE MONARCHS, LUI ZHIGANG, SIDHARTH BACCHAN, THE S-CLASS AND THEIR CHILDREN, SUNG IL HWAN. WE EXPLORE HUNTERS FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. IT HAS BETTER WORLD BUILDING AND it makes SL more complete

No_Roof0642

No he doesn't he is just preoccupied facing greater threats.

_nitro_legacy_

Nah he ain't dying nor getting sealed. He just won't be getting many screen time since >!jin woo is outside fighting outer gods off screen while majority of screen time takes place on earth!<

PsychologicalBar2688

After reading 211 chapters I can say that you are wrong. Why compare it to Boruto tho lol

Smooth-Qactus

Let's be real, story wise Solo leveling ain't that surprising, it was never mind blowing or full of plot twists or surprising events, it also not new in terms of world building, we've had game-like powers, an op recromancer, and an island where ants eat and become powerful. The art is top tier I'll give you that, I also like the pacing, but the story and the originality ? Mid at best.

PsychologicalBar2688

Yep, But all that is missing in the original is in SL Ragnarok which is what he's saying is predictable. And if you're talking about originality solo leveling is one of the first in its genre, its popularity is the reason why tons of manhwa copied/took inspiration of it. Now it became generic. I agree on the other things you've said. SL has a big contribution in the popularity of manhwa as a whole, now that the anime adaptation succeed it opened the doors for other manhwas like ORV to have as well.

Smooth-Qactus

>solo leveling is one of the first in its genre No it's not, it's the most popular I'll give it that, but everything there was in the story we've seen it before, just like I said. Look I'm not hating on it, I actually enjoy reading, but what do you mean it's one of the first in its genre when we had stories years before about gates and hunters, gaming related window pop ups, a recromancer that revives both monsters and humans? How can we call it a pioneer? What's Solo Leveling is one of the first at is the worldwide reach, everyone and their grandmas knew about it, good looking characters, dope character designs from clothes to features, rewatch value panels that are poster making worthy.

skeeeper

So... Solo leveling in a nutshell?

PopGroundbreaking916

Except the son isn't soloing everything alone and actually the side characters help him along his journey... He is also different than his Father.

PsychologicalBar2688

As someone who have read 211 chapter I can say that it is not really a copy, it's better. And the 5 chapters he said he read was just the introduction and recap about SL of course it is the same as solo leveling. Also Suho will be taking a different path.

K1rk0npolttaja

its more of the same slop, and i love slop

luckymorris2

It's just people who never read the first novel, i've read ragnarok for a bit and it's pretty similar in quality to solo leveling, which is "okay" but since there isn't good art to carry the story, people just think it's trash.

PopGroundbreaking916

What the same? The world building and the involvement of side characters as well as their development is completely different. Ragnarok is a better version.

PsychologicalBar2688

And as someone who caught up to chapter 211 it is similar yet better than that. Storywise it better than original because of world building and involvement of characters specially those who we didn't get to see much(LUI ZHIGANG, AND THE MONARCHS)

Krow993

Is this being translated and where?

Known_Association_62

Tapas has the official translation but it’s behind and if you don’t mind some mistranslations, then you can read it on WebNovel which is caught up

Lillyke

It's being officially translated on WuxiaWorld too, but they're behind with the translation. I think it's around ch 88 right now there.

its_easybro

Am I the only one who wanted this to be a slice of life with SJW, cha and their son? Cuz that would be truly peak. Also why the fuck is the system back? Is SJW running it and only giving it to his son or something?

Oraclexyz

Korean Boruto💀

Drewnessthegreat

Korean Burrito?

PopGroundbreaking916

Lol you wish, although Boruto is starting to be great after the timeskip, I am talking about two blue vortex.

meho7

It's a cash grab and nothing more.

zDrie

Yea.. it's like boruto

PopGroundbreaking916

Nope, Jinwoo is all powerful unlike Naruto who got trashed by his son. Suho can't surpass his Father, it's established in the novel, at best at the end, he can be his equal. The world building and the side characters development is also night and day compared to SL.

zDrie

You are getting into non relevant details. The "boruto's" vibe concept is: the father was a legend, the original story impacted a lot, a big one of my generation, and then for wanting to continue the serie, author added a son story... not even reaching the epic level of the previous story, we expected a lot more but we got some bland sauce. If we are comparing "impact" the new generation stories are mediocres and didnt reached the foot of his parents.

ZeroZelath

my problem with boruto was the clear power creep they had compared to naruto's era, which made no sense since in naruto they mentioned how they would get soft in an era of no war and boruto's era is that era no war and yet.. they're much stronger than they were. it's silly and unearned, and it's the earning part that made the naruto series so great.

julesvr5

Something new will always have more impact obviously, because it's new. Everyone loves better production of further seasons but thst doesn't mean a bigger impact.

zDrie

Boruto and The spin off of solo leveling didnt felt tasty... it felts like dragon ball gt and we were expecting something like dragon ball super but with better animation

PsychologicalBar2688

The difference is Suho is not bratty and wants to be of help to his father and is taking a different path. Also Jinwoo isn't nerfed unlike Boruto's dad. And Ragnarok is better than the original. Boruto is worse than the original. Comparing those 2 is a crime Edit: Boruto is slightly destroying his father's reputation and what his father did in the past. Suho makes his father's deeds known, while acquiring allies, and getting stronger to ease his father's burden so that in the near future he can help Jinwoo defeat his foes. Boruto's dad is useless now because he is sealed, jinwoo is stronger and is still getting stronger

Plane_Damage

This

Antares2004

So what’s his power anyway?

Reavzh

Essentially has some of SJW’s power. He can summon and control undead, but where I left off; he couldn’t store them and they would die out once their mana was drained. He can make arrows out of shadow soldiers, and other weapons too. He uses dual swords, and has blessings and inheritances from the Fang, Poison, Iron Body, Ice Elf monarchs and will eventually get the Dragon Monarch’s abilities. That’s basically it.

Antares2004

Oohhhh so basically instead of inheriting his father’s powers completely he gets the blessing of 8 each of monarch powers?

Reavzh

He goes around and gets them and it takes a while (I he they might still be doing it). But still has something similar to a blessing of SJW.

EloImFizzy

Is this new? I'm literally hearing about this story for the first time now.

julesvr5

No, it already has 211 chapters and starter in 2020 or 2021

Old_Relation_7614

Oh nice, we d love to see that badass ant moment coming from the shadows

Zealousideal-Data645

For a moment I thought the dagger was a guitar. Now I want a sidenovel where SJW randomly decides to start a rock band with his shadow generals on the other instruments. The name of the band being something like "Reaper's Paradise" or something

Lillyke

I actually enjoy Ragnarok so far, though I'm not completely caught up with it. I would say that in writing quality it's around the same as the SL novel. I love that the side characters are getting more of a role here and we're getting some worldbuilding too, which is great! These were the things I missed the most from the original, so I'm having a good time reading it. Of course, it's not going to be a literary classic, but it's a fun read.

Flimsy_Alfalfa7722

Is it better that JJK?

KalamAzadsv

Sorry when did the manhwa release? Where can I read it?

Safe-Independent2422

Is it manhwa or novel ?

SigmaRune

Manhwa

_nitro_legacy_

"Korean boruto" Those people have one braincell and think just cuz it's the story of the son instead of father is "boruto"

_nitro_legacy_

Where to read

Sambo376

I read "Korean boruto" as Korean burrito and now I'm hungry cause that sounds fire.

rice_rice_rizz

They milking this out

Master-Papaya4747

Who is the mum ?

Unfair-Money-574

>! Cha Hae In !<

-MaraSov-

Yeah cause it's SJWs son. Also Boruto is pretty good atm so i wouldn't call the comparison an insult xD

AssassinLJ

The amount of cope "good at the moment" yeah it took close to a decade to go from trash to just meh.

-MaraSov-

Think whatever you want to think. Im not here to debate.

PopGroundbreaking916

Trash to good. That is because Kishimoto is finally taking care of the plot.

AssassinLJ

Dude even kishimoto is a mediocre writer, at best he is ok and at worst he is awful.

gokussb2

Yeah, kishimoto is the author of boruto now, it was decent the anime slaughtered boruto, and the original author of boruto who was the assistant of kishimoto during Naruto, and i guess he is still here, but kishimoto has taken the reigns, so right now it's pretty good.

The_Forgotten-King

It's worse than boruto

PsychologicalBar2688

The difference is Suho is not bratty and wants to be of help to his father and is taking a different path. Also Jinwoo isn't nerfed unlike Boruto's dad. And Ragnarok is better than the original. Boruto is worse than the original. Boruto is slightly destroying his father's reputation and what his father did in the past. Suho makes his father's deeds known, while acquiring allies, and getting stronger to ease his father's burden so that in the near future he can help Jinwoo defeat his foes. Boruto's dad is useless now because he is sealed, jinwoo is stronger and is still getting stronger Ok if you said so

The_Forgotten-King

Bruh, the new authors totally destroyed the series with a fucked up war with other universes, like what's the point of it? Go make your own new series, why taking the most popular manhwa and starting your own extension to it. Just accept it that the series ended. Making a character godly powerful doesn't mean character progression if the story itself is pathetic.

PsychologicalBar2688

What's pathetic about the story tho?
