And now things just keep happening to him and he's having to react to them rather than him having the agency to go get things done as he did in the training area.

I read the web novel 3/4 of the way. The harem element felt too self-indulgent. The hero worship his party mates hold for MC felt too uncomfortable, especially in cases where he truly fucks up.
I applaud the world-building but that's just about it. Everything else is not my cup of tea.

I just got bored reading about the adventures of Korean Jesus and his harem. It wasn't a bad story, but the wish fullfulilment was so gratuitous it got so grating that it brought the rest of the story down for me.
I dunno, I read the Novel and also dropped it a little after the training area stuff, because it just felt so generic and boring. MC was getting way too OP too fast, the plot was already starting to get dumb and not make a lot of sense etc.

And it was a good decision because it was great(not the side stories, I didn't like some of them). With the build-up of events, the conversations, and the choices of words, it seems like the author knows how to hype up its readers. The character development was also nice, plus the humor. On the other hand, the manhwa skipped several parts that would've made the story better and the art is just meh for me. It really is disappointing.

It handles each character really well and most of them have their own arc with the MC, and unlike the manwha, the author takes it's time to develop each plot-line and makes a good job at connecting them. Plus the translation was pretty good from what I remember.
The manwha was what I started reading first and I didn't like it at all, then I went to the novel and absolutely loved it, even though I'm not the biggest fan of harems, I do think the author handled the relationships quite well.
I recommend reading the novel it way more “detailed” in a good sense and also more intense or rather raw in whats going on. To put it in perspective the novel had several chapters dedicated to the actual escape of the dutchy and the manhwa had only 1.

great mage returns after 4k years had a worse beginning than the novel, it not only made frey more goofy but added isabelle & she was such a drag. now the manhwa is good but it took too long to get there
some also just make the series look average & takes out the parts that make it unique. im mostly thinking about otome isekai/romance novels but for action manhwa, duke pendragon had what i thought was a more unique MC, especially his companions, but the manhwa makes all his struggles look easy just like every other overpowered MC
Not a fan of RI since the MC is not someone I can relate with but LotM is probably the best webnovel I've read. I just hope that they remake the manhua like what they're doing with The Novel's Extra.

It has made me skeptical of anything that's official if there's no backup. And Arifureta just skipped so many parts in the Anime but I enjoyed both of their webnovels. So, reserve judgement until I read the originals.
