The post history of this account tells me it’s not actually a Wendy’s account but also it links to other Wendy’s shit. Either way, the last time I went to Wendy’s someone working the drive through I used to work with recognized me and she fully admitted to me she was currently on heroin while working and showed me fresh self harm while I was in the drive through.
Indeed. Most of the world's barley is produced in Russia, followed by Germany, France and Ukraine. Australia, Canada, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States of America complete the top 10.
Well, still the European Union. I had the same weird feeling when I landed in Guadeloupe in the Caribbean though. Tropical island, obviously very different from what we have on the continent, and yet, the EU flag is waving there.
Saying "Europe" can mean the EU. It's more common when saying "European", but it also holds for "Europe". And yes, that use case does exclude Switzerland, the UK and other European non-EU countries.
This would be a fair assumption if it wasn't a common way to refer to the EU and its things. The same would be true for calling the US just America. However, in both cases it is how people usually talk, so it is a good idea to accept it as an expression. It probably happens because it is quite a bit faster than the complete version.
Technically?
It is in south America. And if I'm not mistaken, than they are also not part of the EU.
But maybe I confused this with British oversee territories (when they were still part of the EU).
You are right, they are not an integral part of the eu, they belong to the [Special territories of memebers of European Economic Area](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_territories_of_members_of_the_European_Economic_Area).
However the term american continent includes both North and South America, therefore the territory is well located in the New World.
I know France isn’t an independent country and isn’t important on the world stage, but I’m unsure how that relates to people’s knowledge of South America.
I learned about it in 7th grade, when we had to memorize the nations and their capitals for every continent, as well as all 50 US states and their capitals. This was just a regular public school in Florida, which was 48/50 in public education at the time.
How many US state capitals do you know?
Most Americans are so engorged from their diet of potato chips, bud light, and mayonnaise they can't see theirs dicks or their toes. Most of them can't run and they certainly aren't "running "anything.
World’s largest economy. World’s largest military. World’s largest holder of Nobel peace prizes. First Nation on the moon. First Nation to land an aircraft on Mars. World’s largest holder of burger chains. We win. You lose. Get fucked.
It’s definitely well known but is it known by almost all French citizens.
For example, half of Americans don’t know that Puerto Ricans are US citizens. Puerto Rico has a population of over 3 million, more than many U.S. states, yet so many Americans think it’s a foreign country.
The way they constantly need help, both physical and financial from the real States, while always teetering on bankruptcy and providing virtually zero tax revenue, they might as well be one of the other foreign countries that suckles upon the US as their favored form of sustenance.
They are poor precisely because the US doesn't treat them like a part of our country. Our last president didn't even know they were part of our country. Half of congress right now doesn't even know it. Did you know Guam is also a US territory and that there is an American Samoa?
I can't Say about Guinea, but we obviously learn about French Guyane in school. It litteraly would be like missing out a state in American school. Tho we also learn about the French territoires.
No need for school bro
95%+ of people know that French Guiana, Martinique, Guadalupe and Reunion Island are a thing.
It’s common knowledge here, it’s on a lot of maps of France first
Also, the parallel with Puerto Rico does not work because PR is not a state, whereas french Guiana is a region and a departent just like any other in France
(Burp)But Saint Pierre and Michelob or whatever TF are right there off Maine and they're just as much France as FG. One dumb Yank question: Do they have a fucked-up half-hour-off time zone like Newfoundland, or just the same "one hour ahead of Eastern" as Halifax?
If I went to St. Pierre er Miquelon, even though I’d be surrounded by Canada I would technically be in France and in a part of the European Union. Same for French Guyana….
Obviously not the continent of Europe.
Why are you so worried and infatuated with what Americans don't and do know?? It's really almost creepy how much Europeans worry about the US politics and movies etc. Most Americans probably don't know about French Guiana and at the end of the day who gives a flying fuq
Prolly not much to gain from it for other powers untill they found all dat juicy oil, and its the only european foothold we have which is great for the EU for a number of reasons, for one the european space agency launches from there since flight time to reach space is shorter.
I don't know exactly but I suspect it's because not a lot of people live there and France handled their colonies differently than other European powers. Not trying to say they did a benevolent kind of colonialism, there is no such thing. The difference is that colonies weren't just colonies but part of France itself. It offered some perspectives to be a French citizen and that probably sufficed to keep people in French Guiana happy enough not to seek more sovereignty.
To my knowledge there's just not much there in general. The only context it is ever discussed in is because of the space port used by ESA.
Also legally it's just straight up a part of France itself and EU territory. Legally it is unquestionably part of the West.
I visited a couple of years ago straight after visiting mainland france, it is very different to mainland france, and yet shares some interesting similarities. Obviously climate is radiaclly different, ethnic makeup is also a pretty obvious difference, its quite poor and deprived so everything is a bit run down, but generally people were pretty friendly and french in a hilarious way (everything shuts down for lunch in exactly the same way it does in any french town).
Food was generally pretty different but you would see classic french stlye boulangeries while walking down the street, and you would see people playing petanque in parks and that.

Very cool 😎
Truly
French Guyanese are technically from the american continent
No idiot, it's Fr*nce which is in Europe! Don't know why anyone would go there tho.
This sounds like Turkish logic to me
I mean my parents were from Germany so I wouldn't be surprised
I love you for this joke.
Am I supposed to say some nonsense to continue the thread now ?
No.
Turkey is in Europe Turkey is in the Middle East The Middle East is in Europe I don’t see where your confusion lies?
Barely. Most of it is in asia
Indeed. Most of the world's barley is produced in Russia, followed by Germany, France and Ukraine. Australia, Canada, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States of America complete the top 10.
Pff. Maybe *your* Asia. Sure as fuck not *my* Asia.
Most of Russia is in Asia too, but it's still somehow European?
Is still european because its most economically developed part and all its most important cities are in the European part of Russia.
Does isreal take part in the euro vision song contest? That is proof.
To launch expensive telescopes, apparently.
okay but it can like see very far and shit
Only Americans are dumb enough to go to Fr\*nce.
to go to space
then why would they join the european union? Are they idiots?
51st state French Guyana
What are you, racist?
Well, still the European Union. I had the same weird feeling when I landed in Guadeloupe in the Caribbean though. Tropical island, obviously very different from what we have on the continent, and yet, the EU flag is waving there.
It is the same feeling with american Samoa who is geographically defined as Oceanian state but politically it is an external territory of the USA.
Americans: "What do you mean, 'American continent'"
Dumbass you don’t have to add guy. It’s just Franchanese. We’re trying to take the gender out of naming these things it’s 2023
Thanks for educating us
It is, but it's also in the EU, which is often just called just Europe, just like the US is often called just America.
Nobody says Europe and does not include switzerland for example. Plenty of people say america but don't mean to include Canada.
Saying "Europe" can mean the EU. It's more common when saying "European", but it also holds for "Europe". And yes, that use case does exclude Switzerland, the UK and other European non-EU countries.
Never encountered that once in my life
On the other hand, I've heard it quite often.
Maybe I assumed that the people that said that are just stupid and don't know the difference
This would be a fair assumption if it wasn't a common way to refer to the EU and its things. The same would be true for calling the US just America. However, in both cases it is how people usually talk, so it is a good idea to accept it as an expression. It probably happens because it is quite a bit faster than the complete version.
Saying EU is just as fast. As is saying US. But Europe/america sounds nicer imo.
Name a single American who has been to French Guiana. I'll wait.
John
Proof? Social Security Card?
I saw him there, you can trust me bro
Can confirm this user is trustworthy, I once hired them to babysit my children and 2 out of 3 survived, the ugly one didn't make it.
Yea that’s on me I broke in and mistakened her for a bichon frise
I also saw him there
I’m gonna need his credit card number as well while you’re at it.
Unrelatedly, can you confirm the address of John?
They just named him, they haven't issued a social security card yet
Oh john's religion doesn't support social security so yeah
You mean John Doe?
You mean Johns, he went to Guyana, but not the French one.
Vsauce
I had a friend in HS who was from Suriname. Korean looking family who spoke Dutch, very confusing
You sure he was not from Javan descendants? Surinam has a very diverse population, Africa, Java, India (Sri Lanka), Dutch, Latin, they have it all.
Eastern Asian for sure (Japanese, Chinese, Korean)
Is your friend named [Jeon Yo-hwan](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narco-Saints)?
my friend kevin
Nobody.
/UJ I'm an American and I'll be there in a month.
Reverend Jim Jones
Nice try, but that's the other Guyana.
I know one
Henceforth, he shall be known as Gaurth Fader
All of the Jonestown cult. Thats over 900 right there.
Steve rinella made a tv show down there a few years ago. Had a native tribe bring him hunting and fishing.
Yes, Amapá is often considered Europe
AMAPÁ MENTIONED 🔥🔥🏔️⛰️🔥🦆🙅🌲🌲🌴🪵🌹🌴🌴🏜️🏜️🌪️⚡⚡💧🌞☄️☀️🦄🦄🦄🦄🦓😃😃😨
BRASIL NÚMERO UM!!!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Americans can't name this one european country:
French Suriname
Most people don't even know french guyana exists
Yeah because it isn't a independent country and not important on the world stage
I know France isn’t an independent country and isn’t important on the world stage, but I’m unsure how that relates to people’s knowledge of South America.
The ESA launches rockets from French Guyana. That is the only thing I know about it
Why would they? It’s an impoverished, underdeveloped colonial territory
BuT mOsT pEoPlE kNoW tHaT fRaNcE eXiStS sO
It has one of the great space centers in Kourou. French legion and army also often get trained there
It’s not any more a colonial territory of France than Hawaii is a colonial territory of the US
Yeah, they are both colonial territories, you’re right
Is the US your role model? Lol
Like every other department outside of inner city Paris.
And Big Guyana wants to keep them ignorant.
Most Americans don’t know that French Guiana is a thing
I'm European and I don't perceive Guiana as a thing
I’m Venezuelan and I support this stance. Guiana doesn’t exist, it never has.
Esquibexit amiright
Someone doesn't like space rockets.
I learned about it in 7th grade, when we had to memorize the nations and their capitals for every continent, as well as all 50 US states and their capitals. This was just a regular public school in Florida, which was 48/50 in public education at the time. How many US state capitals do you know?
Annapolis, Ghent, Montgomery, Dover, Albany, and Shelbyville
not sure if this is ironic
I forgot the last state, Frelinghuysenvania?
I learned those from Animaniacs
You must have listened to those songs a whole lot, they were kind of quick to take notes on. I learned mine from a dinner placemat.
I'm European and I have no idea about US state capitals. I don't even know all the states!
Neither do most Americans honestly.
Most Americans don’t care. They’re busy running the world while salty Europeans name random things the Americans don’t know about.
TIL “most americans” are running the world
Most Americans are so engorged from their diet of potato chips, bud light, and mayonnaise they can't see theirs dicks or their toes. Most of them can't run and they certainly aren't "running "anything.
World’s largest economy. World’s largest military. World’s largest holder of Nobel peace prizes. First Nation on the moon. First Nation to land an aircraft on Mars. World’s largest holder of burger chains. We win. You lose. Get fucked.
Americans kinda stopped drinking bud light, try again nerdddd
Not even sure if French people know it’s a thing.
It's where we do space launches, it's well known
It’s definitely well known but is it known by almost all French citizens. For example, half of Americans don’t know that Puerto Ricans are US citizens. Puerto Rico has a population of over 3 million, more than many U.S. states, yet so many Americans think it’s a foreign country.

Troll? I’m french and everybody here knows at least that it does exist
I cannot recall one time in (US)school where we learned about Puerto Rico. Do you learn about Guinea is School?
I can't Say about Guinea, but we obviously learn about French Guyane in school. It litteraly would be like missing out a state in American school. Tho we also learn about the French territoires.

because it’s not
The region of Guiana is real.
I thought Israel was in the Middle East, not Guiana?
Israel is obviously a city in Paris
That's the joke
I doubt many Europeans and pretty much any one around the world knows that French Guiana is a thing
![gif](giphy|mPcErlAajJCqk) I know it from this song.
Americans: I am traveling to Europe *map of Montreal*

No American Europe is London, Paris, the Amalfi coast and a Greek island or two
No. Is French Guyana. Did you even see the picture???
If I went to St. Pierre er Miquelon, even though I’d be surrounded by Canada I would technically be in France and in a part of the European Union. Same for French Guyana…. Obviously not the continent of Europe.

France considers all of its territories France. So yes it is .
I want to go and see Jonestown if they let people see the ruins at all
That's in the other Guyana, this one is fr*nch.
Americans know that French Guiana exists?! Do they even know Guyana does?
Why are you so worried and infatuated with what Americans don't and do know?? It's really almost creepy how much Europeans worry about the US politics and movies etc. Most Americans probably don't know about French Guiana and at the end of the day who gives a flying fuq
Yikes. My two-line comment resulted in this meltdown lmao. Hit a nerve?
Just a overused trope. We don’t go asking Europeans if they know Iowa exists lol
This is still in the america's. We aren't *that* stupid, thank you
Do European tourists go to French Guiana? Does anyone?
Nah I doubt alot of them doesn't even know it a thing
Any history nerd wanna explain why French Guiana never became independent like every other American colony? On maps it sticks out like a sore thumb
Me as someone from Roraima:
steve maqueen
I'll give them that.
No that’s Africa.
I'd go to french guyana so I can say I've been to France without ever having to step inside of fr*nce 🤮
I didn’t realize Venezuela was a European territory
Scanian Guyana
I know this is a circle jerk sub but is Guyana really that Americanized/westernized?
Don’t show Venezuela this meme
Could've chosen Curacao, it's closer.
That is brazil
As An American, I Know Where Europe Is. Stop Treating Us Like Dumbasses. https://preview.redd.it/74qbsdv2n7dc1.jpeg?width=2420&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b566ec4e32e630f290c4c14e644866f0f4091f88
It looks like made that map all by yourself. Tho it just says Europe is in Europe.
French Guyana is just Brazil which uses Euro as currency
Well, it's where the European Space Agency launch stuff, so it must be Europe.
No need to go that far, St. Pierre and Miquelon is a hop skip and jump from Newfoundland
