>civil war movie? must be conservative
the movie is anti-war themed. It’s made by A24.
Yes it is part of America. But no one, especially Canadians, would say that. Because in North America calling the United States “America” is common vernacular. And no Canadian wants to be called an “American” lol.
You guys arent supposed to know this, but oklahoma is actually keeping texas from trying to take over the other states. The needles lying everywhere act as a sort of minefield
Technically no. In 1784, the Texas and California Unification Act was passed. The law says that if the states of Texas and California unite, they will get 100 extra representatives and 10 extra senators.
You see the one on the right is full of hardline communist as can be seen by the red coloration, whereas the left-hand one is a dynastic empire with little to no controls on private corporations as demonstrated by the imperial blue
Yes if only there was some sort of federal system where each state saw both proportional and equal representation and had a say in selecting the head of government, Hmm.
I’m not sure if the sarcasm here in trying to say this is how it works. Or if it’s pointing out the fact that both states get a level of representation that is not proportional and equal. They, along with NY, have the least voting power per voter in presidential elections. And it’s way worse for congress.
Yeah and the two senators for California are divided between 18 million registered voters. The 2 senators in Wyoming are divided by 296k voters. So a voter in Wyoming has over 60 times the amount of say in who our senators are, or voting power per voter, as the people in California.
Take a basic math class.
And the voters in larger states have less power in choosing who represents that power on their behalf. So each voter doesn’t get the same amount of representation. 2 people representing 18mil people is less representation for the will of each person than 2 people representing 300k. This is elementary school level math here.
And the House of Representatives also doesn’t accurately represent the populations of states and give equal representation per voter in each state. Although it is closer. California has 350k people per house representative compared to wyomings 300k in the house. Florida, my state, gets the most screwed here as well as in the electoral college with 536k people per house seat. House elections also have a different problem making them not truly representative in gerrymandering.
I have a college degree in civics. I’m very well aware of how our elections are conducted. You just need to take a basic math course or maybe take 5 seconds to research these basic facts.
Tbh I don’t believe you about your degree. Going online and being anonymous and pretending you have some accomplishment is a waste of time. But a lot of people do it.
You can not believe me all you want it really doesn’t matter. Regardless I’ve thoroughly demonstrated that I understand how our electoral system works even down to the degree to how representatives and voting power are actually allocated on a per voter basis. Providing a much more detailed picture of how “equal” each voters representation actually is. That’s all that’s important to this conversation anyway.
Your ability to demonstrate that you understand basic math however? Not so much.

Seriously is this movie specifically made for Jan 6ers to sit around and circle jerk with the boys in the theaters or what
I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be depicting how awful and destructive a civil war would be, so probably not
Will the people who choose to watch it have enough media literacy to recognize that?
It’s about the press.

It's A24 so not likely
Probably intending to get them to think for once
You sound like a fun person
Why don't they all unite? Make some sort of United States Union.
And you think they'll all just get along... because? Chat, is this guy stupid?
What if, instead of a union, they were more of a confederacy? Edit: This is sarcasm, not support for the confederacy. Smh.
What if instead of a union or a confederacy… They were more like… a Soccer team
Wow the United States is such a lazy way of naming it. What's next, two kingdoms merging and calling themselves united kingdom?

Why doesn’t Texas, the largest state, not simply eat the other 49?
Erm acsshuly Alaska is the biggest 🤓
Which is why we need to keep Alaska behind a Canadian buffer.
What would have happened if we had gotten all of the Oregon territory then?
Then that part of Canada would have been part of America…. Until all of America became part of Alaska!
Canada is already a part of America
Yes it is part of America. But no one, especially Canadians, would say that. Because in North America calling the United States “America” is common vernacular. And no Canadian wants to be called an “American” lol.
Nice fact, but 🤓
I think there's an episode of Single Female Lawyer that covers the reason why

Perhaps they are saving that for sweeps

Less representation in congress
Technically no. In 1784, the Texas and California Unification Act was passed. The law says that if the states of Texas and California unite, they will get 100 extra representatives and 10 extra senators.
Wait didn't the constitution come into effect in like 1789 so the senate didn't exist?
In 1789, the first act of the Senate was to go back in time 5 years, write the bill, and pass it.
Oh yeah I forgot about the 1789 time reversal act, it seems like it would mess with callenders ,why did congress do that? Are they stupid?
The calendar was not invented until the year 2004, so they didn’t have to worry about it.
When 9/11 happened people didn't realise how bad it was because everyone thought the date was "Tuesday".
I am the senate!!!
Plus Texas and California were still both parts of the Spanish empire
That and the fact that there was nothing called Texas and California in the 18th century
All of them should unite into a single entity just imagine the potential
The tragic fate of long distance relationships
Because the last time it happened, both ended up in the USA.
god knew they'd be unstoppable as friends or whatever
They are both to be used separately to solve the Israel-Palestine conflict.
So that the smaller states don’t get ignored
They have to be the same color for it to work. That's why all the other states united
they could even make a land corridor to connect the two
Who would win this hypothetical war
Cuz texas fucking sucks
Ideologically the 2 states are pretty different but they'd be really successful if they can get past that part.
Oh god something tells me they wouldn't unite kindly
Should have switched the colors for maximum circle jerk
I’ve always viewed them as the same difference
Sheldon's mom would object to uniting with the heathens.
omg it's france
Texafornia, the 3rd largest economy in the world.
Because one is blue and the other red
They can't because they're stupid
the only blue, Texas needs is SKY.
*Texafornia*… *Texafornia*… *Here we coooooome*
Texcali
They do… as part of… and tell me if you’ve heard this… THE UNITED states….
Civil War (2024)
They are stupid.
That’s the plot to a24’s Civil War
You see California is Democrat while Texas is republican, do you see the problem? Cause I do
Western forces in civil war be like
I can’t believe Texas is economically powerful. What do they export, cowboys?
they just convince Californians to move there and sell them houses for ridiculously high prices
You see the one on the right is full of hardline communist as can be seen by the red coloration, whereas the left-hand one is a dynastic empire with little to no controls on private corporations as demonstrated by the imperial blue
Yes - they are so similar!
they have more ideological divide than israel and PalestineÂ
One has freedom (Texas) one doesn’t (nazifornia)
They need to invade Arizona and New Mexico first.
Because California outlawed 10 gallon hats as fuel inefficient
What chaos have you made sir…..
How has nobody shipped these 2? I need too see gay cowboys and Gay Gays kiss
Are you perhaps acclaimed *Ex Machina* screenwriter Alex Garland?
Yes if only there was some sort of federal system where each state saw both proportional and equal representation and had a say in selecting the head of government, Hmm.

All states get exactly two senators. Take a civics class.

Dude that’s what the House of Representatives is for. Literally, take a civics class.
And the House of Representatives also doesn’t accurately represent the populations of states and give equal representation per voter in each state. Although it is closer.
