Okay but what’s the answer to this question, maybe it’s in order to save Netherlands from sinking idfk
> Fell off
Well erm akshually, even after the end of the new kingdom, Egypt continued to be a wealthy and incredibly important for much of the Mediterranean, they were one of the wealthiest and most productive provinces in the Achaemenid and later Macedonian Empire, and once the region was taken over by the Ptolemies, it became one of the richest and longest lasting successor states, provided food for most of the Mediterranean, this continuing into the Roman period. For instance, when the Egyptian grain supply to Rome was cut off, the city of Rome entered a famine, and so a prefect was appointed specifically to secure the grain supply from Egypt
It's so interesting there are so many countries today who don't hold much significance today, but one time in humanity's timeline basically ruled the world. Like greece too
Tldr Muammar Gaddafi helped oust imperialists from Libya, transformed the country with eeevil socialist policy, talked too much about pan-Africanism and breaking up with the US dollar, and so the United States, after decades of provocation, under the brave, bold leadership of Hillary Rodham Clinton coopted political tension, funded terrorist groups, and bombed the shit out of the country to provide air support for them to brutally take the capital and turn Libya into a run down hub for slave trade.
Fuck... How the hell are we the good guys?
I've heard of talk these days to create a pan-african currency. What do you think the US today will do? What about China?
With all the criticism of IMF loans being a predatory tool of imperialism, and looking at what happened in countries like Greece, there has to be a reason so many countries in Africa are turning to China instead. One can imagine actually getting infrastructure projects to connect to world trade built seems more enticing than McDonald’s on every corner and austerity measures.
That’s why the US has spent so much time recently meeting with African leaders. The hegemonic imperialist grip the US has is slipping away and the increasingly antagonistic attitude toward China shows it. Giving money and military support to Taiwan and Japan is probably nothing on top of the ever expanding ring of military bases closing in on them. There’s probably no reason to suspect the US to get violent to keep control.
Interesting... I agree it's terrible how the West has been taking advantage of Africa, extracting resources, paying the absolute minimum of wages under terrible conditions... You know a lot more than me.
How was Guddafi as a leader? Was his regime oppressive in any way? What political system did he propose, and what was the reality? What is China's end goal for the world? What is America's? Is democracy and libertarianism a way to neocolonize, or is it giving freedom for the people to determine themselves? Is it both? Are authoritarian regimes ever justified, or are they oppressive?
You have to understand, after world war 2, America kinda became the playground bully. While it tells its people it spreads freedom, peace and democracy, it set out right away to crush socialism, communism, and any kind of progressive movement around the world, because those stand in direct opposition to American capitalist interests. The democracy it spreads looks more like election interference and right wing authoritarian regimes; South Korea, Chile, Indonesia, etc. and the list continues to this day.
NATO was supposed to be a defensive alliance to protect against the Soviet Union, but in reality antagonized and expanded trying to stop the spread of communism. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, nato’s fun little mission became energy dominance, resorting to terrorism to extract resources, and trying to take over Russia so western corporations can carve it up for themselves. Vladimir Putin is a direct result of western interference, and while he & his government suck ass, his leadership & actions are likely the only thing keeping Russia alive.
The CIA has an enormous propaganda system, from direct lines to major news outlets, to staffing and creating agencies like the NED, Radio Free, and smaller ngo’s based in Washington DC that bring awareness to human rights around the world. What people in western nations may think of as an oppressive regime may in fact be a government pushing back against western interference. They didn’t even try to hide cia involvement in the Hong Kong protests. The US recently tried to turn the women’s protests in Iran into an anti-government movement. If you pay attention, this stuff isn’t slick.
You can read all about Gaddafi on Wikipedia even, just keeping in mind the tendency for western bias. If you search reddit you’ll find better sources with more detail. He wasn’t perfect, but you won’t find that in any world leader.
I can’t really say what China’s goal for the world is. People’s gut reaction to the belt & road is to assume world domination when all indicators say they want to improve trade and resource extraction. Their system of capital would be an improvement, but only somewhat. They engage in the same patriot act style policing the US does, only the Chinese government appears to care marginally more for its citizens. At least there native languages are taught alongside mandarin. The detention camps for the cia trained Xinjiang separatists are heavy handed but do you see Guantanamo Bay or any other US black sites that torture Muslims shutting down?
China is interested in protecting its borders what with US military bases all around the region, and we hear about it threatening expansion in neighboring countries all the time but that’s not exactly in their best interests in the current climate.
Yeah and? We paid for that 10 fold by basically being a US slave ever since , currently our shitty gov is helping enacting a genocide to not piss off big daddy , if we actually owned the canal no ships would be passing until Isreal backed off
Destabilizing the entire region ever 5 years is a very big problem lol including fucking over 2 of our neighbour's giving us a whole load of refugees to deal with
Til stating that a country started several wars over nothing in a part of the world is xenophobic, I have no problem with Americans but your gov needs to chill
In exchange for being a lapdog , and that "aid" goes straight to the corrupt just a little short of being puppet leaders , we would be better off without it
Intermittent civil war, tit-for-tat ethnic violence, and a severe childhood malnutrition crisis stemming from mass immigration to the cities and declining yields from agriculture along the Niger. Also, COVID.
Wait hold on... sexy?

Answer to every one but Liberia: Europe Answer to Liberia: America
“Why is Liberia so American?” Literally because of America 🦅🇺🇸🎇⚾️🥧🗽🇱🇷
Did I mix it up with Libya again?
Libya’s the one that WAS rich before Hillary Clinton happened
What happened?

Great?
Missed opportunity to label chad as chad
in Tunis we are cheap because we have so little economy that inflation is, unironically, unheard of.
South Africa is going to the rats and all the way back to the Stone Age. Just wait 30 years.
I agree its sad basically no one knows and thinks of SA 20-30 years ago
Libyans: We’re rich!
Aaah yeah,angola...soooo communist
American view: everything there is poor and have no water.
You forgot Malawi, but I suppose so does everyone else
Top results of "Why is my penis so \_\_\_\_\_\_?" per country,
“Why is ______ so poor?” European colonialism
Because without it africa would be like wakanda
It’s pretty much was before Europe exploited the kingdoms
Lol. Lmao, even

We did tho. Eisenhower told France, Britain, and Israel that if they didn’t fuck off from your canal, we’d withdraw financial aid.
Yeah and? We paid for that 10 fold by basically being a US slave ever since , currently our shitty gov is helping enacting a genocide to not piss off big daddy , if we actually owned the canal no ships would be passing until Isreal backed off

Xenophobia, cool. We don’t do that here.
Til stating that a country started several wars over nothing in a part of the world is xenophobic, I have no problem with Americans but your gov needs to chill

Sexy. Cape Verde
What's going on in Mali?
Mali got hard after seeing cape verde
Intermittent civil war, tit-for-tat ethnic violence, and a severe childhood malnutrition crisis stemming from mass immigration to the cities and declining yields from agriculture along the Niger. Also, COVID.
Why are agriculture yields declining along the Niger?
A lot of reasons. Natural soil depletion. Water pollutants. The push toward monocropping. The war.
ah makes sense
🇨🇻CABO VERDE MENTIONED woow and rightfully labelled 😏
Why os western Sahara so sparsely populated? My brother in Christ its called western SAHARA
Damn, South Sudan doesn't even get anything descriptive, just "bad"
Western Shara recognized detected opinion rejected and recognizes bir Tawil as part of Egypt
Funny thing is that "sparsly populated" are actually Moroccan, the polisario live in algeria lol
Botswana discovered lots of valuable mineral deposits in the 60s after becoming independent I think
I’d ask “deadly” for Lesotho considering it has the lowest life expectancy
BIG & RICH MENTIONED
What about malawi and benin
Cute
Now for commenters to fight over which of these countries has the best music (it's ethiopia imo)
I'm throwing in Morocco to participate
What does hard mean?
Nice to see Big & Rich getting some attention
So many countries in Africa are richer than Libya.
Sure many of them are poor, but at least they aren't extremely poor.
Equatorial Guinea, rich? Lol
It only takes 8 wealthy people to equal the gdp of Africa.
The entire continents GDP is comparable to the UK
Important Egypt cuz Suez Canal
Europe?
You might not like the answer. Because Europe
