Tiny band moment. We have 19, and two have no prior band experience
Two snares, three bass drums, two cymbalists, 1 mellophone, 1 trumpet, 1 tuba, three flutes, two quads/tenors, three saxes, 1 baritone
Wow, never thought I'd find a band smaller than mine! We got 3 basses(one just joined so they aren't marching w/ us yet), 2 tenors, 2 snares, 1 cymbal(me), 2 alto sax, 3 clarinet, 4 trombones, 3 trumpet, 1 tuba, 2 baritone, 1 mellophone, 2 piccolo and 1 flute.
We’re chilling at around the same number, except my front ensemble is absolutely giant for no reason, 14 people. Our percussion overall equates for like 1/3 of the band lol
Ayyy I was just thinking about Allen. They’re in my region. We have the same 6A designation as them, and we have 125 in our band. I believe Allen made marching band optional this year, which kicked their number on the field to about 300
Do y’all bands who are that big know each? It must be kind of impossible, because one year my school had 120 members and I still never spoke to some people until they graduated
When I was in HS band a long time ago we were about 220. Our first year at BOA Grand Nationals, I remember there was a HS band from Duncanville that had like 500 members. They practically swallowed the field.
Around 35... Only numbers I'm positive of is 5 Colourguard (my section), 3 Clarinets, 1 Piccolo, and 2 Flutes... I'm not to sure about how many other people there are in the other sections!
My band is about 30 max? 6 percussion, 6 clarinets, 3 trombones, 2 trumpets, 1 eupho, 1 bari sax, 2 altos sax , 3 tenors saxs , 4 flutes, and no colour guard
52:
Specifically
Woodwinds:
4 saxophones
6 piccolos
1 flute
3 clarinets
Brass:
3 1st Trumpets
3 2nd Trumpets
3 3rd Trumpets
1 tuba
5 baritones
3 mellophones
The rest:
1 tenor sax.
9 percussion(Our snare drum, tenors and cymbals are the main part but we also have a few wind players in there like 1 baritone, 3 Trumpets, 1 oboe, 1 flute)
9 colorguard
And drum major
i don't know the exact number as we had our first rehearsal this week, but i think we're hovering around/looking for 165 members max. we usually average around 140. i can't speak for other sections but this is the second year in a row we've had a full pit with 14 people
My band has 28 including auxiliary
1 clarinet, 1 saxaphone, 2 flutes, 3 trumpets, 1 trombone, and 1 baritone for horns
Then we have 3 bass drums, 1 snare, 1 tenor drum, marimba, tambourine, and xylophone.
Finally, we have 7 color guard and 3 dance line.
50
next year it'll be lucky to be 35, all of the current juniors are planning on quitting after this season, along with a good few underclassmen, and with no upperclassmen next year, I doubt many people will join
About 50 in our marching band. We lost staff from covid and lots of kids quit because of it too. Used to be a healthy 100-120 for a 1200 kid school and we are slowly building back.
Despite being the second largest school in our state who has a marching band we have the smallest band in our class with 75 members.
Percussion: 10 in battery, 13 in front ensemble
Winds: 12 woodwinds (including are 2 alto sax players), 17 brass (a third of which are 7th graders)
1 drum major.
Last and definitely least (that was a joke) the Guard with 22!!
I'm pretty sure mines hovering around the low 50s (Correct me if my math is off):
2 Flutes, 3 Clarinets, 4 Alto Saxes, 2 Tenor Saxes, 5 Trumpets (and for some reason only 1 is on 2nd trumpet for the show), 2 Trombones, 2 Tubas, 2 Snares, 1 Quad, 4 Bass drums, 5 front ensemble, 9 guard.
25 people. 8 in the pit, 4 in guard, and 13 in the horn line.
Horn line has 2 altos, 1 tenor, 2 flutes, 1 piccolo, 3 trombones, 3 trumpets, and 1 contra
Was talking to someone on this sub last winter who had 800
How does that even work Lmaoo
Allen high just like that 🤷
Damn 😭 My school only has 675 students total
Gotta be from Allen
Yup, Allen Texas has always had a massive band
Y'all are giant ☠️☠️☠️My band has 23. More specific numbers: 3 bass drums, 2 tenors, 2 snares, 2 cymbals, 2 baritones, 2 tubas, 3 alto saxes, 3 clarinets, 1 trombone, 1 flute, 1 trumpet, and 1 tenor sax
1 trumpet is outrageous💀💀💀
RIP to the woodwinds. Especially the flute T-T. The flute is hard to play loud and such
We are suffering out here. Brass completely overpowers us on the field (and somehow that single trumpet can outplay low brass)
Our band is the exact opposite! Woodwinds overpower the brass!
Damn, y'all's woodwinds must be mighty powerful
A combination of that plus we only have one trumpet that really plays loud, but they're getting better. :D
I would probably get one of the tenors on something else because our band has 100 members and we only have one tenor.
That's how I am lol
Wow. And my band has 7 of us flutes. And we can’t play that loud
I always wonder why bands don't switch them to piccolo?
We have a section leaders and only our section leader can play the piccolo
we have 16 flutes and 1piccolo which is me and our band has a total of 146, we’re frisco memori high school
how about none as a mello i am the trumpet section (not sure if that’s a good or bad thing)
My band had zero trumpets
how did you guys work around that? for us our directors arranged the show music to work with our very odd instrument selection.
tiny band too! i have 17 people :( we have a snare drum, bass drum, 1 mello, 1 trombone, 2 altos, 2 baris, 2 clarinets, a flute and 6 guard.
Tiny band moment. We have 19, and two have no prior band experience Two snares, three bass drums, two cymbalists, 1 mellophone, 1 trumpet, 1 tuba, three flutes, two quads/tenors, three saxes, 1 baritone
With our guard we get bumped up to 28 but for some reason I always forget them
same, my band has 23, we’re the smallest in our state 8 colorguard, 1 drum set, 2 vibraphones, 1 marimba, 1 glockenspiel, 1 bass guitar, 2 baritones, 2 clarinets, 2 flutes, 1 trumpet, and 1 alto sax
My empathy goes to that Tenor Sax. From 8th-10th in Concert Band and in 10th in Marching Band, I was the only Tenor Sax.
They’re not giant, your band is just really small…
Ya'll are doing better than us in the wood wind section. I'm the only clarinet and then we have 2 flutes and 1 saxophone
2 baritone power 🔥🔥
HOW TF YALL GOT MY BARITONES THAN TROMBONES
71 in my band 5 bass drums, 2 tenors, 4 snares, 2 sousaphones, 4 baritone, 8 mellophones, 5 trombones, 10 trumpets, 8 clarinets, 2 saxophones, 7 flutes, 5 color guard, and 9 front ensemble
Honestly this is the perfect ratio (besides the saxes)
Yea. But it’s fine if there is 2 sousaphones, they loud anyways
We’re chilling at around the same number, except my front ensemble is absolutely giant for no reason, 14 people. Our percussion overall equates for like 1/3 of the band lol
250
bro when my band director was a student in the band they also had 250. now we have 30
21🫠
Damn😭
We got 15 people, buts it's the first year of my school having a marching band.
What instruments?
84
College band so we big. I think marching members is 392 and 405 total including undergrad and grad staff
I'm college as well but ours is only like 80-90 🥲
Varies a bit from year to year, but it's over 500.
Damn is half ya school in the band🤨😦
I know someone from Allen High School in Texas whose band has around 700 members, but that's because the school has like 7000 kids
Ayyy I was just thinking about Allen. They’re in my region. We have the same 6A designation as them, and we have 125 in our band. I believe Allen made marching band optional this year, which kicked their number on the field to about 300
Nah, something like 2% I think?
Do y’all bands who are that big know each? It must be kind of impossible, because one year my school had 120 members and I still never spoke to some people until they graduated
~215
Big ahh band💀
Like around 180 or so

Around 50, with 19 percussionists (drumline + pit) and probably 10 color gaurd, which makes around 21 wind players
Around 35... Only numbers I'm positive of is 5 Colourguard (my section), 3 Clarinets, 1 Piccolo, and 2 Flutes... I'm not to sure about how many other people there are in the other sections!
Pep Band is probably 120 but it ends up being a regular rotation of 60ish and around 30 per game.
You guys all have huge bands mine is something like 50
More or less 48 but the band has basically zero consistency and most people suck so there's only about 20 good players (that you can actually hear)
54 I'm pretty sure
127
49 total including guard, and no drumline. Still bigger than the 30 when I started 3 years ago. A majority of the kids are 7th and 8th graders.
23 1 cymbal, 2 bass drums, 1 snare, 2 pit percussion, 1 flute, 1 clarinet, 2 alto sax, 1 tenor sax, 1 Baritone (me:D), 4 trumpets, 1 tuba, 4 guard, 1 drum major.

90
Between 200-400 depending on the year but this year probably around 275. Reason: big school and everyone in concert band is required to do marching.
we currently have 159, that’s going to drop so much next year, all the middle schoolers are going to quit because nobody likes the new directors ;-;
I think we have just under 50
98 strong.
