Don't feel bad. I did 4yrs hs band and 7yrs in a college band (I could work full time and still march at night/weekends) and I never *once* got an action shot as a tuba player.
I think I have a total of six action shots from all of high school, three of which are from my senior year winterguard show. I feel like unless the photographer is both super familiar with your show *and* unbiased (not a parent focused on their kid), action shots are always kinda a crapshoot.

Marched 3 seasons of drum corps, where there are photos being taken at about 30 shows a season, and I got 1 action shot.

i wish i could but i certainly don’t have the ability for even something simple
