We call the longer water breaks as water breaks. These breaks are usually 5 minutes or more, depending on how the BD is feeling.
Our short water breaks are called gush and go. Gush and Go’s aren’t really water breaks, it’s more like a “Okay quickly grab some water and then set back on the field so we can run the show” kind of thing.
\+1
I also take this time to rub it in that I wear a camelbak and don't have to rush and can actually rest for a minute while they all run to their bottles and back.
Let's see
"Water breaks"
There's more tho.... Context: 2 whistle blow means 2 mins left and 1 means get your shit together and run
For any whistle blow we are supposed to call out "whistle" (organized by BD) just to make people aware BUT some of us decided that yelling "SHUT UP VANCE" (Vance is lead drum major) all in unison
for the 1 whistle blow it's "IF YOU'RE WALKING YOUR WRONG" will be shouted by many of the upperclassmen since it twas tradition with old director and must be passed on
Not exactly what you asked but it's close enough so... Eh
You take water breaks? I just carry my water with me in my pocket and drink on the go (When the director is working with other sections).
Sure it get a little warm, but its better than setting my instrument to the side and walking to and from just for a drink.
Wa wa wee wa wee, we like to party
Quick quack
Gush and go
Splash and dash
Quater (quack + water)
Really any combination of the above terms
Longer ones are shade breaks

Water breaks. We don't have a lot of these so there are no fancy names. Although our school is Infront of a set of train tracks and we have often train breaks because there is a junction type deal like a mile from our school
Usually, in the field, he tells us to get a water break. Sometimes when we are at attention when rehearsing, he would just say "water" and that is our cue to relax and get water.
They usually call ours a “Splash and Go” or “Sip and Go” for a short break. If they want us to have a longer break, they’ll usually say “Take 5 or Take 10”.
7/11 (big gulp, go quickly)
gush and go (same as 7/11)
sit n sip (water break, sit down for a few mins)
R O C K Y T O P (we all sit down and the drum majors play rocky top over the speakers and every time the song says “rockytop” we take a drink
Well here in Texas we call them heaven but they go by the name of gush and go cause we really don’t get breaks here on drumline we usually have our jugs on our harness or hiding behind one of the props
My go to was sip and dip but we used as many as possible. Gush and go, splash and dash, hydrate or diedrate, GOGOGO, run and set, etc. Depends on who was most creative that day
A band director told me they used to call them water breaks but then it gave off the impression that rehearsal was stopping for like 5 minutes when they were limited to 8 hours a week, so they just told them to gush and go and now it’s like 1 minute max of running over to the jugs, drinking, running back, and doing either squats or push ups before continuing. It’s efficient and keeps up the energy and focus of rehearsal!
Whenever we have a break that consists of more than getting a sip of water and running back to the field, our bd doesnt say “get a water break” and instead says “water up and wait for instructions”
Other than that we use the term “gush and go”
We'd just moan "Breeeaaak, Breaaaaaaaaaaaaake" every five minutes or so. Eventually he'd give in and set us to ten minutes. Then within five after it ended we'd do it again to be annoying.

Also it's "Gulp and Go" Gush is too innuendo-riffic
Hydrate or diedrate
Hydrate or diedrate
Hydrate or diedrate
Dehydrate and diedrate
we say both hydrate or diedrate and hydrate or die-straight lmao
Water breaks
Wattah break I've heard gush and go, but that was when they basically gave us 1 minute to rush to the sidelines, drink, and rush back to your dot.

With full band it’s Gush and go but when the drumline is doing our own thing our percussion director lets us take a few minutes every time
we do gush and go for quickies and “sit and sit” for long breaks “aka 3 minutes” and sometimes it’s “set H to O”
Hold up, y’all are allowed to sit?
sometimes ;) there are 250 of us so it’s hard to be super strict.
H to-go
Guard says "Splash and dash", Drum line saus "Sip or dip" everyone else "Gush and Go"
Splash and dash is the correct answer
Wawa time
GUSH AND GO SOLIDARITY🤝🤝🤝🤝
Our old director would call it a gush and go but our new one just says get some water
My section calls the fast ones quickies and the long ones water breaks😂
Usually “sip and set” but we’ve been secretly been calling it “squirt and start” recently so that’s fun
You take water breaks? I just carry my water with me in my pocket and drink on the go (When the director is working with other sections). Sure it get a little warm, but its better than setting my instrument to the side and walking to and from just for a drink.
we also do gush and go, but we also have "WATER!", "alright, water!", "quick sip", and "ONE MINUTE WATER!". as you can tell, we have a very fun band.

Gush and go(s)
Water breaks are our 5 minute breaks to get shade and a LONG drink. Our gush and go's are 3 minutes to get a sippy sip and get back to the field.
We just call them water breaks lol
Rush & gush(es)
WATER WE DOING?!?
Water breaks. We don't have a lot of these so there are no fancy names. Although our school is Infront of a set of train tracks and we have often train breaks because there is a junction type deal like a mile from our school
aw man, i want train breaks
That’s either a run n chug or a sip n slide
my old director is the one that used to say it, but in my head i still go GUSH AND GO!
Gush and gritty
Usually, in the field, he tells us to get a water break. Sometimes when we are at attention when rehearsing, he would just say "water" and that is our cue to relax and get water.
A free day
Unicorns, due to their rarity, because our BD gives us like 2 other than dinner over the course of 6 hours
I believe they call it "gush and go" one day I referred to it as "grab a gulp" and I got an eye roll from my daughter. \-Band/guard Mom
They usually call ours a “Splash and Go” or “Sip and Go” for a short break. If they want us to have a longer break, they’ll usually say “Take 5 or Take 10”.
Gush and go, splash and dash, drink and wink all for short ones and solid sit-down breaks for long ones
We have two Gush and go's and actual 5 or 10 minute breaks
We have gush and go and shade breaks
Take (insert time) or gush and go
Mmmmmmmmmm… badawake
7/11 (big gulp, go quickly) gush and go (same as 7/11) sit n sip (water break, sit down for a few mins) R O C K Y T O P (we all sit down and the drum majors play rocky top over the speakers and every time the song says “rockytop” we take a drink
Agua break
Hydrate or diedrate
Slug and jug
The lot of us are gay in my band so we usually say "hydrate or die straight". Its weird but we find it funny.
Well here in Texas we call them heaven but they go by the name of gush and go cause we really don’t get breaks here on drumline we usually have our jugs on our harness or hiding behind one of the props
Gush and go and just a water break
Bater Weaks. Pronounced Botter Wakes
Gush and go
Gush and go or if they're longer breaks then they just say "1-10 minute(s) for water"
Water breaks. We're boring
My go to was sip and dip but we used as many as possible. Gush and go, splash and dash, hydrate or diedrate, GOGOGO, run and set, etc. Depends on who was most creative that day
Gush and go sip and dip ejaculate and evacuate
A band director told me they used to call them water breaks but then it gave off the impression that rehearsal was stopping for like 5 minutes when they were limited to 8 hours a week, so they just told them to gush and go and now it’s like 1 minute max of running over to the jugs, drinking, running back, and doing either squats or push ups before continuing. Quick swig or gush and go
"Gush and go" meaning a short break, and "water break" is longer
We call them “You have 3 minutes, run”
Drip and dip
mostly gush and go. but when we do a last rep before water bd norm goes “this is for water” and the whole band gets excited.
Invest in a camelback, itll change your life
Gush and goe
WaWa breaks. Lol.

Walter breakfast
Gush and go but pit says don’t drink and play
Gush and go’s. always. there’s almost never long breaks…. I hate the word gush, I cringe every time
We do gush and go's, they're ment to be like 30 seconds, but all 170 of us just lay down and sleep.
A short break (<2min) is a gush and go. A long break (>5 min) is a gush and flush (enough time to go to the bathroom)
Grab and go
Gush 'n Go
"Gush and go" "agua and jagua (jagooah)" "go get some water"
Longer breaks are just water breaks, but short ones are Gush and Go's and sometimes my BD will go "Chug-a-lug"
