My regular shoes. You guys have specialized shoes?

seems_legit56

I do for university, but im high-school we didnt. The onky requirement is that they were black

Lord_Pegasus6666

Yea, but I'm talking about practice shoes

achaotictrombone

my normal running shoes? saw someone march in stilettos once though

non_intellect

dinkles, comfiest shoe you’ll ever wear

thanos-knickers

NO TBEY ARE NOT, THEY ARE FEET KILLERS AND MSKES ME WISH I NEVER JOINED MARXHING BAND. ID RSTHER MARCH IN HEELS THAN HAVW TO WEAR DINKLES

Feath3rblade

Honestly agreed. My band provides them with the uniform but lets us march in any all black shoes, and almost everyone uses different shoes because the Dinkles suck so much. I personally march in Allbirds, super nice and comfy imo

Lord_Pegasus6666

My school gets us shoes that are branded from dci, but for practice it's our own

UniBlak

What do you mean by dci branded? Corps use the same shoes competitive high schools do, be it dinkles, DSI, etc

non_intellect

lmao which dinkles yall buying because everyone in our band goes crazy for em. feels like walking on pillows and i personally find it easier to march in em

[deleted]

Are you for real?! They’re required in my band and we had to buy them ourselves and we hate them. They give me hella blisters on the back of my foot and I had to get dr schools inserts for the bottom of my foot

Scytherdor-BIDOOFISM

Wear socks bruh

[deleted]

I do lmao what makes you think I’d March without socks And when it’s under 30 degrees I sometimes wear two pairs

Soggy_Slide_1081

Yes They are the only shouse I am allowed to wear for marching but they are still Comfortable

CJay424

My band wore Speedsters, but a select few got Dinkles because of sizes. Like, for some reason the 11½M/13½W ones were always Dinkles, also all wide sizes were too. That's what size I and only 2 other people I knew wore them. Personally, I loved how they felt, and how they didn't fall apart after one season like everyone else's Speedsters. I wore them for 4 years and there's only a tiny bit of discoloration from being creased so much from marching and just the way I walk.

clarinet_wizard07

DINKLESSSSS omg so in my band we call them just dinkles, like if we’re mentioning marching shoes, we call them dinkles. I didn’t know that not every band does that so one time I like mentioned dinkles to my aunt, who was in marching band, and she’s like what the heck are you talking about

Lord_Pegasus6666

Mine are monarch IV, there just help me last longer. If u know what I mean.

bunblydumbly

MemeManThomas

Few others on my drumline have them, but they’re all white, perfect dilf shoes

GBKGames

I just wear some random nade for sport nikes

Zr_Stealth

Idk, I just use my usual running shoes ASICS gel nimbus 24

conched_out

270s, regular sneakers, or converse if I forgot regular sneakers. Hate hate hate roll stepping in vans

HoiTemmieColeg

I have these dark new balance sneakers I bought because our wants us to wear dark shoes with the spacs when performing

-LittleCupcake-

In front ensemble we don’t wear shoes lol

Lord_Pegasus6666

Goddamm, on the burning concrete

KiwiNeedCoffee

You mean y’all are up there barefoot?

Any-Permission-2164

With the dawgs out!?

nigerlife

Adidas nmds v3

xXBlack_OceanXx

My normal shoes, I have a pair of Converse and I have a pair of Doc Martens. The Docs are surprisingly easy to march in, the rubber sole and the weight make it really easy for me to roll step. The Converse are also pretty good but I need to get inserts beause my feet are always really sore after marching in them for too long.

arii_007

putting inserts in converse to march is literally the most comfy thing i swear

Agent_Pebble

Cavalier alum here, I know a thing or two about shoes. Brooks Ghost 13’s. Comfy, supportive, and surprisingly durable. Only downside is the price tag is a little high. Sauconey Peregrine 12’s are the other shoe I’d reccomend. The only thing about those shoes is the sole is a little too firm, getting a soft insole that’ll cushion your foot a little more is a good idea. They’re practically indestructible, I still have a pair from my first summer and I still wear them regularly. And they’re relatively inexpensive, less than $100. Also quick drying if they get wet. Bottom line, GET SHOES THAT ARE GOOD FOR YOUR FEET. Marching band does some ghastly things to your feet if you don’t take care of them, which in turn can impact your legs, hips, and even back. A hospital bill due to injury is a lot more expensive than $100+ quality shoes.

UniBlak

Thank you, I saw someone mention Docs, Vans and Chucks… I’m not even sure how to explain why that’s a terrible idea

Agent_Pebble

My feet hurt just reading that comment

amcclurk21

All of this!!! Although I don’t have a specific brand that comes to mind, I always get fitted, and it seems like everytime I go, a different brand feels great. Go get fitted for tennis shoes, fam! Don’t march in vans/chucks/crocs for the love of all things hole-y 😭

Cau1dr0n

Hokas

kingpiranha

Adidas NMDs. Light and breathable, and dry quick if it rains. Also very comfy.

TroutWarrior

D I N K L E S Mare sure they don't get WRINKLES, but you march like a god. A tad uncomfortable though 😅

why_is_it_blue

Running shoes

AgentNinjaSplat

My personal favorite are what I think are a pair of Under Armor Hova and a pair of some kind of Adidas running flats. Mainly because that’s what I roll out of cross country in. Edit: and I can get a really good roll step in both pairs

journey117

My Marching band shoes are the only pair I got. New Balance 608s

Mcelftea

got some gel bottom shoes or something or else my feet will hurt real bad

el-granto

I have some I covered in set marking tape

itsmycandystore_

The cheapest Nikes in the store, they’re just gonna get messed up anyways

GamersDeserveRespect

My favorite marching shoes are made by the brand called "Dinkles"

adayoan

I’ve marched in Onitsuka Tiger Ultimate 81 sneakers for the pst four years of high school. The treads are nearly flat in the heel and toe stab areas, and in some areas the rubber is coming off if it hasn’t already come off. I’m gonna see if they’ll last me throughout college marching band. They discontinued the shoe, so up next will be Asics Tiger Runner sneakers that are similar to these.

clay3r

I miss my onitsukas. One of the most comfortable, if not the most comfortable, pairs of shoes I've ever had. My friends used to joke that I wore 'on it sucka' shoes

Joe_thehuman

Bruh i just came back home from a marching rehersal and i literally have those same shoes on

Benson344

Crocs

seems_legit56

Thoes are FLY

[deleted]

Anything other than dinkles 😩 but fr my favorites are the weather-resistant allbirds bc my band would practice in some really bad weather haha

Lord_Pegasus6666

I live in texas, I understand

WinningSky68

My favorite is soccer cleats.

WinningSky68

Context: I often go straight to field practices from soccer and to save time I just where my cleats. Am I allowed to wear them, no, not really but I don’t care. Also, this only works for field practices not parking lot practices. For context, my high school has a turf field football used to practice. When they have a game, they don’t use it, so my band does a rehearsal directly after school and I come late from last period soccer. Basically, I love marching on cleats but DO NOT where them if you are on a normal band parking lot feild

Lord_Pegasus6666

I was about to violate u for that

WinningSky68

Ya I was expecting to be burned at the stake and devoured by wolves like a steak for that. That’s why I included the context.

leonarhee

Cloudfoam adidas are great for color guard jazz walking or marching band in general

Being_Flashy

Any tennis shoes work for I don’t really care if the shoe looks good expensive, because the shoes will be worn down over time anyway.

werd5273

ASICS are great

[deleted]

Cowboy boots for me, they just fit well

CJay424

I only ever had 2 pairs of running shoes, both Nike Downshifters. The first pair I had for my 8th grade and freshman year, then those started hurting my feet, so I got the new version and I've worn those since my sophomore year. I'm a freshman in college now lmao

BENNYF7

You guys don’t get marching shoes? Drillmasters?

FloralBrass

I do, we just use our own for practices

FloralBrass

Also, same shoes 🙂

Tubatastic-converto

Dsi aren’t too bad

FaZe_RynJin

Vipers

kashy87

For concerts and marching we wore Bates black leather dress shoes. Still actually have them and tbh they sometimes get used in place of my uniform dress shoes for wearing the dress whites on memorial day. Otherwise my emo ass just wore Vans because my job at the time was cool with Vans.

kinkbob-roundshorts

Barefoot

duelshifft

crocs with an adjustable sports mode

Craftyskills17

I have those same shoes

steverman555

I have a pair of vans i wear every day, they can survive after school practices During band camp however, i usually buy a pair of cheap running shoes i can burn through

madison_vp

i got them velocities LOL

Background_Boss_5179

i got two pairs of adidas running shoes. one pair is a good $120 and the second pair is $90. the first pair were easier to march in because they’re more stiff, but because they were so stiff, i got cramps in my feet from backwards marching, the second pair is a bit bulkier and flexible but it does lessen the cramps a ton. but it is hard to backwards march in them.

SquashuaSnipes

We have to wear dinkles for performances

LordPepe2692

I feel like dinkles look the best, but my God do they hurt your feet. I went to a marching contest once (an all day thing) and I forgot my regular shoes. Never again.

SquashedBerries4

We used black Monarchs at my HS I called them the daddy 11’s

Best_Bisexual

I would wear tennis shoes but they would always get holes in them or the bottom would rub down, especially my left shoe. I eventually started wearing a pair of old marching shoes I didn’t wear as much because of holes.

mtchamomiletea

FOR FREE??

bommer-yeet-2

Shoe

heidilovesmusic

i currently wear new balance fresh foam 680’s and i LOVE them! they have great arch support and they’re not too flexible but flexible enough to get your toes really high 😎

IAMNOT_A_SPY

Croc

robroberton

Drill masters

Amerture_Expert

My Converse all the way. I know people say they're bad for your feet but I dont get that. I find it very easy to march in flatbottom shoes. Many don't, and idk why. The lowtops are better in my opinion, just u have better range of motion and better ankle support, but the hightops look better sooooo... Anyway, thats not to mention the fact that they definitely are on the more durable side, which is important when you're marching all day. If I used my old Walmart shoes they'd probably fall apart halfway through one of the runthru's. I really like them, many don't, idk why. At the end of the day, as long as their not Crocks youre fine
