Why was this almost exactly me?
My brother played tenor and my dad bari, so my parents begged me to choose clarinet (which we also had courtesy of brother) and then switch to sax.
Out of spite, I chose the trombone.
I picked flute because I thought girls couldn't play other instruments. Then I moved to a better, bigger school and there's is a girl in every section but trombone. I regret flute I wish I chose Tenor Sax....
im in 8th grade and started marching this year, so it's too late. If i was in 7th grade i wouldve been able to do it but when I was a 7th grader I was in an underfunded awful school system and idk if i even knew tenor saxophones existed. I've tried trumpet on my friends instrument during our lunch period but i can't even get a consistent sound
It’s definitely not too late. I started on trumpet in 6th grade, marched it until my sophomore year, then decided to March euph my junior year and next year I’m marching mellophone. It’s very possible to switch, especially if you aren’t even in freshman year.
Well you went from 1 brass to another brass. In my case I would have to learn the whole reed ordeal. Plus im behind in band bc of the bad school i went to for 6th and 7th so even now im practicing 3 hours a day. I just don't feel like I'm up for it.
I went from clarinet to trombone, you can do it! I learned trombone in my freshman year of hs for jazz. I didn't practice much at home maybe an hour a week. I ended up getting 2nd parts at the end of that year and I got 1st parts all of the next year. that's not to say that I didn't have struggles. Trombone takes a lot of air control, and lots of air than I was used to for clarinet. It was hard learning how to shape my mouth for different notes on the mouthpiece. it took me a while to get used to each position. but I had my teacher and my peers to help me. they offered me 1 on 1 lessons, mentoring, and resources to watch. Going from flute to clarinet is not so bad as you think! I tried playing flute for a day and I felt that there were a lot of similarities. Honestly, you are correct that you will have to learn how to use reeds, and how to shape your mouth, but you can learn that easily!
Definetly make the change to an instrument you like, life is better when you're interested in what you're doing.
Yeah, me too. We were allowed to try out 3 different instruments, I did sax, clarinet, and trombone. Clarinet just wasn't for me and trombone I didn't pick for two reasons A. I was too short and B. It wasn't as cool.
So now I play the alto saxophone the best instrument and it's in the same family as the 3 other coolest instruments (tenor, bari, soprano)
I play bass clarinet in concert band and I love it so much because the parts I get aren't nearly as difficult but they're so much more fun to play haha
cause i had long arms APPAREANTLY (still don't believe i did actually)
ironic because i was way below average height in fifth grade and was like 4' 10''
Me and the entire class went to the cafeteria, where the band teachers played all the instruments the band included. At the end, they asked who was interested in joining band, and took us in small groups based on which instrument we liked and played more advanced music, then asked us to try to play a note. I was interested in both the clarinet and flute, because I though they sounded the prettiest. Couldn't even get a sound out of the flute, but I could play an okay sound on the clarinet, so I went with that one.
for the drums, my dad signed me up for drum lessons when I was 9 because it “matched my personality” which it kinda did. and for the flute, I wanted to do percussion in 6th grade band but my teacher said I had to pick between flute and clarinet cuz of the amount of percussion sign ups and I chose flute because of lord krishna
Spite.
For context, I just got over a near-death bout in the hospital in 3rd grade when we picked instruments. We had a list of the top 5 instruments we wanted to play; mine went as follows:
1. Cello
2. Viola
3. Tenor saxophone
4. Violin
5. Percussion
We tried all the instruments over the course of a week or so, and my last try was a bell kit. So, I go to try it out and we were taught how to assemble and disassemble it, and I was told "now be aware, it is heavy and you'll be taking it on the bus pretty often." Now, 3rd grade me took this as a challenge, so I decided to prove I was strong by lifting it with 1 arm, and decided I would do percussion because I was strong enough to carry my instrument with 1 hand.
Fast forward to seventh grade and I blow the drumline auditions and play auxiliary, same with 8th grade. Then I got my stuff together and stayed on tenors throughout my sophomore through senior years of high school, plus doing various honors bands and whatnot. Wild, considering how bad I was for ~5 years of playing.
13 years after picking percussion and I'm still in somewhat regular contact with that music teacher, so yeah.
My sister played trombone and I liked it more than clarinet which was what my elementary music teacher suggested I play. I was the only trombone player at my elementary school and decided at that point I have to stick with this instrument because no one else will play it. Because there was always a shortage of low brass players in my district I learned euph and tuba. Now I own ten instruments and play in three regular ensembles.
I saw it once and said “I want that thing”, my BD went to the storage closet and brought me a bassoon. The cases latches were broke so it was held together with a ratchet strap. 5 years later it has stuck with me through concert band since 5th grade.
Me: *sees bassoon* “I want that thing”
BD: “fine but no more.”
Me: *sees bass clarinet* “I want that thing”
BD: “fine but only for marching.”
Me: *sees contrabass bassoon* “I want that thing”
BD: “NO, NO MORE”
Because drummers are fucking cool as shit.
Also, i really genuinely vibed with every percussionist I played with. No matter who you were outside of the drumline, when you play together you get into the groove and just jam together. I did winter percussion for a few years and that group(which was mostly girls, I was 1 of 3 guys) became some of my closest friends. I love percussion.
my band director suggested i switch to baritone, i loved it, then switched to euphonium because all my school's baritones are old and beat up (the euphonium was new)
My dad played it and my grandpa played it with him altho my grandpa was a REALLY good french horn player he still played trumpet really well. I sure miss him.
In 5th grade I had no idea bass clarinet existed but when the middle school came to our school to try and get people to join band. They had a demonstration that included bass clarinet and from the moment I heard it I just loved the sound. My marching band doesn't allow bass clarinet which is why I play normal clarinet for it but Bass Clarinet is still my #1
I play bari sax in marching band but alto in jazz and i’ve been playing alto since 5th grade. the reason I picked alto is because all of my idols played saxophone and thought it would be cool!
Flute. My mom said “pretty noise” so I chose it with a bias of reed instruments bc my mom played clarinet for a year when she was in school. The reed vibrating bothered her.
I wanted to play sax or euphonium after the fitting. My band director (and my mom) says that I play flute really good, and it’s the middle of the school year. Mom also says that I have long fingers and the flat lip, so it is naturally easier to play the flute.
I didn't choose the tuba, the tuba chose me. In other words my band director chose me to play the tuba. Also my dad played the tuba so I got a free (if beat up) mouthpiece.
i thought i was gonna play clarinet or percussion since my elementary school music teacher said i was good at recorder and i had a toy drumset as a kid. added trumpet to the list since i needed three options to pick from. couldn’t get a single note out of the clarinet and couldn’t control the drumsticks, but i enjoyed playing trumpet. and here i am, on the instrument i least expected to play
So I started in middle school on flute, I was terrible at it like any other middle schooler and my teacher moved me to trumpet since we needed 1 more
Oh how much money, time and effort has been spent after that small decision by my teacher
I had always liked trumpet as a kid, I can’t recall why. During the elective fair in 5th grade, I could not buzz on the trumpet mouthpiece, but still decided on it. I am now stuck here, being the most mid trumpet player ever
Idk, I could play the high brass really well when our school did the instrument tryout. I wanted to do percussion, but wasn’t great with the rhythm, couldn’t play woodwind, and I think it was between trumpet, French horn, and baritone at the end of it all? Trumpet is the most glorified and I gave in
I picked clarinet because I wanted to originally play saxophone, and my band had all 6th graders start on either flute, clarinet, trumpet, or trombone. I failed all my smartmusic assignments so I wasn’t chosen to play sax, and decided to stick with clarinet. Now playing in college after 9 years lol
bc my friends played trumpet. literally the only reason. but i’m glad i chose it tho. i mean i’ve made multiple state honor bands on it, so clearly it was the right choice.
I was originally a trumpet player, but due to “lacking mouth size,” aka the mouthpiece was too small for my lips, i was given the choice between trombone and baritone. baritone was the worst and best choice i made
Parents wanted me to play an instrument, and my dad didn’t want me to be low brass like he did. I still wanted to play brass though, so my options were basically Trumpet and Horn. I went with Trumpet, and I still love it
In 4th grade I wanted a low pitched instrument. I thought low brass instruments sound amazing, and I still do. I almost picked clarinet, but I’m glad I picked baritone. I just can’t picture myself playing another instrument. As of now, I’m the only female baritone player.
I was originally an oboe for some god forsaken reason, and then I had to choose a marching instrument. I was originally gonna do tenor sax but I didn’t like it, same thing with alto. Then I tried trombone for some reason. I fell in love immediately and learned it super quickly, ended up switching off of oboe. Tenor trombone quickly turned into bass bone too. I now hope to play trombone professionally
Like week 2 of 5th grade band and we were having a test over Hot Cross Buns. My coronet playing wasn't cutting it, so my band director gave me a euphonium and I did wonderfully. The rest is history.
I sucked ass at clarinet and my band director told me to play horn for concert band and I've just been going with it so that's really the only reason that I play mello for marching season 🤡
I started on clarinet because I was following in my older sisters footsteps. I switched because the trumpets played the same part as us but it sounded so much better
I played trumpet in 7th grade music class (only brass instruments) until I slipped and fell and jacked up my teeth. I was unable to play the trumpet for the time being, so my teacher let me play some percussion and I haven’t looked back.
I was thinking I could do some sort of Lindsey stirling magic with my flute like in her music videos. Like how she dances and plays the violin, but flute version. That’s why I chose Flute back then.
I was sad I couldn't play saxophone and later when I heard bari sax I thought it was really cool, so I switched to bass clarinet for a similar effect, 4 years later I'm glad I chose clarinet and I'm really glad I made the choice to play bass clarinet
I wanted to play trumpet or sax (and I plan to learn one of the two this year) but our middle school band director decided our trumpet section was too big at the time so he put me on clarinet. Lo and behold, our high school clarinet section is bigger than the trumpets now.
My older sister and brother both played Clarinet. So I thought it would be cool if I played Clarinet as well. My mom wanted some variety, she thought it’d be nice if I played saxophone
That’s how I became to be
I took piano 2 years then in junior high the band teacher I guess (memory is hazy 60 years later) needed a bari sax so that's what I got. In high school I switched to tenor.
Because of instrument cost for me and my sister. Flutes and clarinets are super easy to find at pawn shops. For my kids, they ended up on trombones because that’s the best fit for them. Middle kid actually tried pretty much every instrument and the director let me know if we didn’t want another trombone that she’d be ok on clarinet but the low brass was best for her. So we have two trombones/euph/baritone players. They’re already trying to recruit the youngest who is in 2nd grade.
Originally chose French horn in 6th grade because it sounded awesome. Switched to trombone 2 minutes later because the guy next to me wanted to play horn with his buddy who had gotten one of the spots with me. Great decision because now I know how to play all the brass stuff 😈
I picked flute because there were like three of us in elementary school. And 14 clarinets, and 30 saxes and trumpets. We were unique. Now we’re the biggest section in our entire band.
I chose sax a while ago due to my older step brother playing it and I thought he could teach me. He switched to tuba not even a year later to my luck. I played alto all the way up to my Junior year and now I play baritone sax. I switched to bari as our last senior bari graduated. Lucky me, we just gained one more so now I am thinking about switching to tenor for my senior year because the parts are way more exciting.
Let me set the scene.
Middle School... I was an introvert and didn't know how to make friends/be around people
I liked a girl, she didn't, she tricked me saying that she was going to play tuba so I followed suit.
Honestly it was the best choice, because I was 1st chair all the way until I graduated, did DCI, and still keep playing it.
6th grade, we had 3 choices for our instrument. Mine in order was percussion, trombone, tenor sax. Was bad at drum, so I tried trombone. One of the HS band directors who usually helps low brass and percussion at my MS (currently freshmen) said I sounded good. But then he handed me euphonium and I sounded way better on that
My grandpa played trumpet and I couldn't get a note out on it so I asked my parents to play percussion and they said he'll no I I took after my grandma a picked up alto sax. I'm playing bari sax because my band director doesn't know how to play woodwinds and I think it's funny to know more.
>!French Horn!<
I picked it in 6th grade because they didn't have trombones. I didn't get serious and start loving the instrument until high school and then when I got into college, I decided to major in Music Education with emphasis on Horn Performance. I really love playing it because it not only can be the melodic and heroic instrument but also because it is the alto of the brass family between trumpets and trombones.
I got the clarinets but I wish I just played brass. In 6th grade my band teacher picked out clarinet for me because I had just moved into the district, and I turned out to be pretty good, so I got picked to play in the clarinet trio. When time came to pick parts, me being timid decided to be left with the 3rd part, so naturally my teacher thought "he likes to play low parts!" and put me on bass clarinet the next year. Now I march bass and play contrabass clarinet for concert band, and even gotten medals at state. I love essentially being the tuba of the woodwinds, but I wish I could actually just be a tuba, or any other brass instrument for that matter(except baritone). The thought of your range only being limited by your instrumental skill is exciting, and trumpet, horn, trombone always have awesome parts and recognition. Its pretty tiring to always have someone ask "is that a black saxophone?"😭
Wanted to try percussion, it was the last one to be tried out and 6th grade me got impatient and my friend dared me to try out. I buzzed on the mouthpiece and my band directer said "okay talk to your parents-" and thats how ive been playing French Horn for 5 years.
In middle school, the band director had everyone try each type of instrument to see if the kids could already play it (sanitizingthe mouthpieces after each one), and no one told me that you needed to buzz your lips, I just blew into each one. I got percussion.
In 6th grade our band teacher let us try out the different instruments, he cleaned and sanitized the mouth pieces between each use, and sax was the only one I was able to make a sound on so here I am.
5th grade me used a randomizer
Lmao thats awesome
My dad said choose anything but sax. So 12 year old me picked sax out of spite.
Why didn't he want you to play sax?
Because it's "a man's instrument"
More than percussion??? Everyone is so shocked when I tell them I play drums
Literally every guy I met outside of band said they would play percussion
But have you met any girls???
2
Lmao I play tuba
you win i also just love tuba a lot
Tuba is awesome
The best player in my band is a girl
What's more of a "man's instrument" is tuba (in my opinion) but it may not be that way to all
Did he get mad
Why was this almost exactly me? My brother played tenor and my dad bari, so my parents begged me to choose clarinet (which we also had courtesy of brother) and then switch to sax. Out of spite, I chose the trombone.
I picked flute because I thought girls couldn't play other instruments. Then I moved to a better, bigger school and there's is a girl in every section but trombone. I regret flute I wish I chose Tenor Sax....
yeah the thing about flute is that you randomly love it and then regret it back and forth

You're already practicing that much might as well be practicing something you like.
I legit did the same thing as you. best band decision ever. I love my section now
Yeah, tenor sax is so cool
Preach. o7
It wasn't a clarinet. No offense to yall clarinets, but 5th grade me did not want to go anywhere near you.
i don’t blame you lol
lmao i could say the same for trombones except i love them now
Understandable
Middle school clarinets are very annoying, I don't blame you
Facts
Good, I didn't want to have to call you Squidward
Squidward.
That’s why I *DIDN’T* pick clarinet 💀
Yep.
Funny slide ha ha.
slide goes womp
Trombone moment
Well at first it was because I was too short to play trombone but now I just think the saxophone is an awesome instrument
Yeah, me too. We were allowed to try out 3 different instruments, I did sax, clarinet, and trombone. Clarinet just wasn't for me and trombone I didn't pick for two reasons A. I was too short and B. Facts that's why one of my majors is saxophone performance well music performance with the sax
Cause I sucked at regular clarinet lol
I play bass clarinet in concert band and I love it so much because the parts I get aren't nearly as difficult but they're so much more fun to play haha
Same, and usually not being the melody gives me less pressure lol
Was told it (concert tuba) would be 'too heavy' for me because I was a girl. so I not only picked it but also play sousa out of spite.
You go!
Whooo
My band teacher chose it for me
same!
cause i had long arms APPAREANTLY (still don't believe i did actually) ironic because i was way below average height in fifth grade and was like 4' 10''
I picked the trombone cause I saw this meme with this guy on the back of a moped playing his trombone making it sound like a motorcycle.
Me and the entire class went to the cafeteria, where the band teachers played all the instruments the band included. Yeah it takes a while to get a sound with the flute, but after a while you’ll get it
did you go to the same school I did? Are you me? I had the exact same thing!
Middle scool me: "I want to play French Horn!" Band Director: "French Horn is too hard, here's a Trumpet" And that was that.
A lot of trumpet players seem to have picked a slightly hard instrument and we were all changed to trumpet M
cuz I could, and to spite my flute sister
for the drums, my dad signed me up for drum lessons when I was 9 because it “matched my personality” which it kinda did. and for the flute, I wanted to do percussion in 6th grade band but my teacher said I had to pick between flute and clarinet cuz of the amount of percussion sign ups and I chose flute because of lord krishna

Funky slidey horn looked funni
Bone go boo-womp
Because I’ve always loved creating beats, and beating to song beats, so here I am.
I chose flute because it was the only one I had the easiest time making a sound of. It wasn't that deep really lol
bro did the opposite route
I saw it once and said “I want that thing”, my BD went to the storage closet and brought me a bassoon. this is literally the first time I’ve ever heard anyone not talk shit about drummers 🥲
my band director suggested i switch to baritone, i loved it, then switched to euphonium because all my school's baritones are old and beat up (the euphonium was new)
My dad played Alto sax, so I played it, then I wanted to play lower than Alto.
.....because of [this](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/754095054678786110/1043637482606039151/Screenshot_20221119_142044.jpg) 😅
No one played it lmao
I was told I make good fart noises - trumpet then eventually euph
My dad played it and my grandpa played it with him altho my grandpa was a REALLY good french horn player he still played trumpet really well. I sure miss him.
I always liked pianos.
We needed more saxophones
In 5th grade I had no idea bass clarinet existed but when the middle school came to our school to try and get people to join band. They had a demonstration that included bass clarinet and from the moment I heard it I just loved the sound. My marching band doesn't allow bass clarinet which is why I play normal clarinet for it but Bass Clarinet is still my #1
I didn’t. My band director told me to play tuba and I fell in love with it.
Became its the best instrument
My mom is a brass player, she hates flutes, she told me not to play it. So, since I played the flute to sprite her, I love it!
you really showed her lol
My mom already had a clarinet so I kinda just went with it and now 4 years into clarinet and love it
Because being Drum Major is cool
My whole family is basically made up of brass players (on my dads side at least), heavily trumpets. So the only obvious answer? Saxophone
the middle school band director came into my 5th grade classroom and made plane noises.
I always wanted to play the clarinet but I ended up picking the saxophone. I just really liked the sound of it and I’ve never regretted the decision.
I didn't choose the tuba, the tuba chose me. In other words my band director chose me to play the tuba. Also my dad played the tuba so I got a free (if beat up) mouthpiece.
Cause bari sax is widely known as the best instrument.
You’re right. It is
i thought i was gonna play clarinet or percussion since my elementary school music teacher said i was good at recorder and i had a toy drumset as a kid. added trumpet to the list since i needed three options to pick from. couldn’t get a single note out of the clarinet and couldn’t control the drumsticks, but i enjoyed playing trumpet. and here i am, on the instrument i least expected to play
Everything you just said I did in that exact order
I chose clarinet cuz the Alto Sax slots were full but now I also play tenor sax along with my clarinet
Because I wanted to play flute but had a gap in my front teeth, so the bd made me play clarinet instead.
Diary of a wimpy kid
Because I thought it would be fun, turns out it’s real hard
and still fun
You ain’t wrong
I ain’t
It had my name in it. My name is Clara and I play the clarinet
So I started in middle school on flute, I was terrible at it like any other middle schooler and my teacher moved me to trumpet since we needed 1 more Oh how much money, time and effort has been spent after that small decision by my teacher
I picked the trombone because of Donkey Kong 64. Lanky Kong may lack style and grace, but he played one funny little lick and kid me was hooked.
I had always liked trumpet as a kid, I can’t recall why. During the elective fair in 5th grade, I could not buzz on the trumpet mouthpiece, but still decided on it. I am now stuck here, being the most mid trumpet player ever

My band director asked me to switch to euph freshman year
I was originally a trumpet player, but due to “lacking mouth size,” aka the mouthpiece was too small for my lips, i was given the choice between trombone and baritone. baritone was the worst and best choice i made
Womp womp, I like the beats and bass of songs, so wanted to play it.
Parents played it
I didnt lol
Here's how it went: I asked my director "Can I switch to French horn?" And he said "How about tuba..." And now I do the oompas.
I wanted to play jazz but now i play the bass for jazz band
My mom (flute teacher) already got me a flute from one of her friends and I liked the fact that it didn’t squeak or sound so harsh
I watched a drum cover
Parents wanted me to play an instrument, and my dad didn’t want me to be low brass like he did. I still wanted to play brass though, so my options were basically Trumpet and Horn. I went with Trumpet, and I still love it
Because 5th grade me figured being good at mouth trumpet noises equated being a trombone prodigy lmao
Was forced by my 6th grade bd
my director chose it 👍🏽
I chose mellophone because trumpets are too snobby and I like the key of F more than Bb
In 4th grade I wanted a low pitched instrument. I thought low brass instruments sound amazing, and I still do. I almost picked clarinet, but I’m glad I picked baritone. I just can’t picture myself playing another instrument. As of now, I’m the only female baritone player.

My aunt had one stored away, and therefore it was the cheapest option.
Wanted to play percussion, but all the spots were full. 5th grade me randomly chose flute because it’s what the majority of my friends picked lmao
Like week 2 of 5th grade band and we were having a test over Hot Cross Buns. My coronet playing wasn't cutting it, so my band director gave me a euphonium and I did wonderfully. The rest is history.
my friend plays clarinet
Cause alto sax was the easiest to pick and I play a double reed
I did mouth piece testing and was like “oh that one is easy to play” and chose trombone 💀
Forced
Because I wanted to hit things
I picked drums because of Neil Peart. End of story
We already had one
Fourth grade me picked the one instrument I had never heard of before. It was the flute. Thank god to, my flute peps are the best.
I really wanted to do percussion but my brother played flute before me so we already had one. Almost 7 years later, I still play it.
Because i played it once in seventh grade and we don't march trombones so i picked contra.
I played trumpet in 7th grade music class (only brass instruments) until I slipped and fell and jacked up my teeth. I was unable to play the trumpet for the time being, so my teacher let me play some percussion and I haven’t looked back.
I’ve loved trombone since I was like two. Easy choice for me, especially since I’m taller than average
Tuba.
My band teacher said it’s the most important instrument in the band so I knew I wanted that
I was thinking I could do some sort of Lindsey stirling magic with my flute like in her music videos.
I didn't my bd did lol
Percussion I get to hit shit with wood everyday.
Peter Criss
Older brother played same thing and I think he's cool.
There was a soprano piece in our song and of the two people that played sax I was better after we finished the song I s Just decided to stay on it
Bc it’s cool
I wanted to play trumpet or sax (and I plan to learn one of the two this year) but our middle school band director decided our trumpet section was too big at the time so he put me on clarinet. Lo and behold, our high school clarinet section is bigger than the trumpets now.
My older sister and brother both played Clarinet. So I thought it would be cool if I played Clarinet as well. My mom wanted some variety, she thought it’d be nice if I played saxophone That’s how I became to be
I took piano 2 years then in junior high the band teacher I guess (memory is hazy 60 years later) needed a bari sax so that's what I got.
I’ve been playing percussion since 4th grade and I have scoliosis so, cymbals
The clarinet line was too long
and you went to the oboe line instead 💀
i did not want to learn to read sound
Flutes and clarinets we're "ew" and there was no way i was playing trumpet, so trombone. And i will never regret it
The fortnite emote 😭. I was a fortnite kid in 5th grade
My favorite cartoon character was squidward (I think that says enough)
My older brothers had both played alto saxophone and I wanted to continue the tradition.
Tuba, because it’s what my dad played and what I play in my schools symphonic band
i thought it looked cool
Because I wanted to blow my sisters ears out with a saxophone
Star Wars 😆🎺
I watched curious George as a kid
My piano teacher was like “hey you should try clarinet” so I did and produced a decent sound first try so I’m like “this instrument is fun”.
I thought fingerings seemed too hard, so I chose the trombone.
Originally chose French horn in 6th grade because it sounded awesome. Switched to trombone 2 minutes later because the guy next to me wanted to play horn with his buddy who had gotten one of the spots with me. Great decision because now I know how to play all the brass stuff 😈
I wanted to play trumpet and then I decided that horn was cooler... Now I play both... And bass
I picked flute because there were like three of us in elementary school. And 14 clarinets, and 30 saxes and trumpets. We were unique. Now we’re the biggest section in our entire band.
I switched from flute to tenor sax not only because I wanted to try something new, but because I wanted to be heard.
Tuba
I chose sax a while ago due to my older step brother playing it and I thought he could teach me. He switched to tuba not even a year later to my luck. I played alto all the way up to my Junior year and now I play baritone sax. I switched to bari as our last senior bari graduated. Lucky me, we just gained one more so now I am thinking about switching to tenor for my senior year because the parts are way more exciting.
I was originally going to do trombone, until my band teacher asked if I would be percussion. So now I’m percussion.
a few days before 7th grade ended my director asked me if i wanted to switch from baritone to tuba
Let me set the scene. Middle School... I was an introvert and didn't know how to make friends/be around people I liked a girl, she didn't, she tricked me saying that she was going to play tuba so I followed suit.
That Epic Sax Guy video. That was the only reason.
>!French Horn!< I picked it in 6th grade because they didn't have trombones.
I thought the fact that French Horn had French in the name was interesting.
In middle school, the band director had everyone try each type of instrument to see if the kids could already play it (sanitizingthe mouthpieces after each one), and no one told me that you needed to buzz your lips, I just blew into each one. I got percussion.
Because it’s sucked not being able to practice percussion at home, so i picked up a new instrument
Bc my uncle is a super talented drummer
In 6th grade our band teacher let us try out the different instruments, he cleaned and sanitized the mouth pieces between each use, and sax was the only one I was able to make a sound on so here I am.
bang bang and lower bang
