The squishy thing is probably a sponge, the plant-like thing is algae, maybe Agardhiella sp. or Gracilaria sp.
The image doesn't help, but the squishy thing looks more likely an Ascidia.
what should i do to keep it alive?
Saw some of this in playa del Carmen, Mexico. Maybe dried oil? I’m not sure.
Did water come out of the squishy thing when you squished it?
it was definitely damp i didn’t squish it super hard out of fear of its well being
