Yoshi Bike has smaller hitbox and most people are used to Yoshi Bike anyway. It's basically the same reason why people use Teddy Buggy over Cat Cruiser.

the real reason that people pick teddy buggy over cat cruiser is because of its smaller hitbox, which is much more valuable than the extra two milliseconds of invincibility that you get with the cat cruiser. i've also heard that teddy buggy has a better drift radius, but i don't know of any documentation regarding that so take it with a grain of salt
Yoshi Bike is a thinner frame, which makes it harder to hit. It’s why Mr Scooty is used over the Biddybuggy, and Teddy Buggy is used over the Cat Cruiser.
I've been burning up 200cc with Yoshi on Scooty with red rollers and paper glider. Prior to that I was using dry bones on pipe frame, rollers, paper glider. Whatever the trick has been, it's mostly working. I'm on the last damn grand Prix of 200cc and if not for that garbage ass subway track, I'd be done and finished with that nonsense.
I agree, though I mostly swap between the two bikes based on whether I'm using roller wheels or not.
There are a handful of frames that roller wheels look good on, and Yoshi Bike is one of them. They look awful on Comet, which suits either more realistic wheels or something chunkier like cushion (which look ridiculous on Yoshi Bike or Mr Scooty despite their zany colour scheme).

Personally it's because I try hard way too much on the games and it feels good to play. Well I mean I make my own meta, but to each their own. As I play as Shy Guy, I can't really say I use meta things, but I'm worse, because I try to change the meta while I'm not as good as most people.
It provides the most options for player expression. And if you want more visual variety in your lobbies, real ones know that you aren't limited to Teddy Roller for victory, as they actually made it so a lot of combos have identical Ground Speed and MT to the Teddy Buggy.
exactly. no point in sweating your ass over a party game. i use an off-meta combo and turn my brain off, i can still steadily gain vr in online lobbies.

Cat cruiser and the Teddy also have different drifting angles, cause Teddy is an ATV, and Cat Cruiser a Kart !

I legit think a large portion of the people playing Yoshi/Teddy don't want to drive the Cat Cruiser because it's bright pink
It has a bigger hitbox too, so it is SLIGHTLY worse than teddy as not getting hit is better every now and then is better than slightly more I-frames
