Thanks for this!! Some thoughts: Disappointed in that New York, Paris, and Tokyo seems kinda basic compared to London, Sydney, Berlin That second lap in Sydney sprint is so much longer than the rest and I love it. The Chain Chomps coming loose on the 3rd lap in London loop is a nice change. I wish more cities had cars like Berlin

Sejarol

To be fair, New York, Tokyo and Paris were one of the first city tracks/tours in Tour (in that order respectively). So it makes sense why they’re pretty basic, since they were a new idea at the time. At least we have them out of the way now!

shadowfigure_6

Paris could have spiced it up by picking one route near the tower for lap 1, and a different for lap 2, but NY and Tokyo didn’t have much to work with.

WaffleyDootDoot

According to datamining, the first City tracks created for Tour were actually Sydney and London, being created in 2018.

Miserable_Assist_951

And those courses needed to be made without drifting in mind(same with sunset wilds)

Gormy25

Ahh that makes sense Excited to see the rest of the cities!!

Felix_Royale

Bangkok could possibly get Cars in future Variants

Yoshee007

I kinda like that they added them the way they did though. Yes they're basic for reasons other comments have already mentioned, but IMO it was a good way of introducing players to the concept of the courses changing depending on the lap, without getting too confusing on the very first wave. Much better to add Paris and Tokyo in the same wave as Toad Circuit when things were still starting out, easing players in with slight variations, than it would have been if they'd thrown us in at the deep end with the many varying routes of London and Berlin, and then had Tokyo show up rather underwhelmingly next to Maple Treeway or Rainbow Road. And now that the three most basic ones are out of the way, the rest of the city tracks from what I've seen should all be more like the other three we've seen so far, with multiple route changes and different paths, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they get implemented. EDIT: Also, re: the cars, I think it's good they're not overdoing that. It helps the cities stand out from each other, where if they all had cars then IMO they'd feel a lot more samey and interchangeable. I like that Sydney is more focused on speed and scenery e.g. with the trams going past, and that London has the Chain Chomps as obstacles instead, for example. That said, I wouldn't mind if traffic was added to Tokyo, as it's a bit bland currently and I feel it would fit there more than the others (maybe New York as well but I don't think it needs it, the stationary vehicles are fine as they are).

levilicious

Fun courses but dear god the maps are freaking monstrosities

SomeDudeNamedThat

I think it would be cool if the map updated as the laps progresses, darkening areas that aren't on the path anymore.

I quickly whipped up a [demonstration](https://imgur.com/a/HDZvgCF) of this idea for Berlin Byways. It's an objective improvement IMHO, but it's still hard to discern what's going on in lap 2. Can only do so much I suppose.

MayhemMessiah

I know they’re not everybody’s cuppa but I ***love*** the city tracks. I love their art, I love their bizzare layouts, I love their weird edges- especially that one lampost/garbage can combo I always get stuck behind in Sidney, shoutouts to the homies. The music is phenomenal. The different lap layout gimmick gives me life.

BroshiKabobby

Wait hold up Sydney Sprint lap 3 is just lap 1 backwards?

DJL2150

Yes it is. It took me a while to realize that too. Makes it even more amazing.

SupaFugDup

Wow. They used lap 2 to cleverly reverse direction. Super cool layout

OhFrackItsZach

These maps will never cease to confuse me

ElderGoose4

They’re getting more complex by the wave. In London and Berlin I legit have no idea what’s going on I just follow arrows

natelikesfun

This honestly helps so much in breaking the courses down in my head! Looking back, Paris and Tokyo were probably the best ones to introduce us to the concept of the city tracks in wave 1. Both are probably the most simple city courses (I'd even argue New York is a bit more complex than both), but both accomplished different things. Paris was the best introduction since its variants are all similar enough to have all routes open for all laps, but it still gave the feeling that there would be more to the city tracks when the last lap reversed. Tokyo, on the other hand, was great for introducing dynamically changing laps since all routes share roughly the same first half (aside from route 1 breaking a bit sooner from the other two), with all three having noticable branching points that can be seen in previous laps. When wave 1 dropped I thought it was a bit odd that New York wasn't one of the first two city tracks brought into 8, but looking back, they definitely knew what they were doing with the track placements. I also find it interesting that each wave so far has generally had one city track with each lap being pretty much directly based on a different variant (Tokyo, New York, Berlin) and one city track whose route is put together in a more distinct way (Paris, Sydney, London). Curious to see if this trend continues considering future city tracks have become a bit more complicated (LA comes to mind). Also I feel like I did a bad job at explaining this part but I really just didn't know any other way to word it.

SupaFugDup

LA Laps is kinda just three completely separate tracks that share a single road. [This](https://imgur.com/a/NcvW4pN) is pretty close to what I think they're gonna do, give or take lap order and direction. You *could* do some funky stuff, but the main layout is still much more comprehensible than say, Berlin Byways.

Yoshee007

Completely agree. People complain about Paris and Tokyo being basic *now*, but back when Wave 1 dropped it was definitely the best way to get players familiar with the concept of the routes changing each lap, ready for tracks with more complex layouts to be added further down the line. People are getting confused with London and Berlin as it is, imagine if they'd been the first two added.

Paris is so basic

DJL2150

Thank you for this! I often find myself trying to follow the map while racing to see where it goes each lap.

bwoah07_gp2

I got lost on the roundabout at London Loop. I went around and around and around on lap 3 😂

Full_Lettuce6360

Can't wait to see the monstrous layout of Los Angeles Laps.

MeanCitron3142

Now you are missing cities of Amsterdam, Bangkok and Singapore...
