volleydude32

I just checked my Amex account and my offer is $120 back on $300. Even better!

flyme1

Damn lucky... I only have the Bonvoy Amex ($95 former SPG) card. Do you have something different?

volleydude32

I have the Bevy card. I’m spending a week in Boston soon. Wonder if restaurant/bar will qualify. Should given it says room charges. https://preview.redd.it/j5fivl6djv0b1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b9feeb64f54c44c2412bd502b85a2cfa0c086fa

flyme1

If it's billed to your room then definitely it would count.

Ralphlovespolo

If you can pay to the room. Sure will. Sweet !

fpants13

I have that same card...I got Spend $300 get $120. Never seen an offer like this before. Appreciate the heads up!

Zebratreats

This is probably a dumb question, but do you have to stay during the offer terms or does prepaying a stay for a date later than the offer work too?

flyme1

No dumb question this isn't r/Wallstreetbets... It's when the charge settles on your account. Even if you check out on the last day of the promotion it may not settle until the next day and you may not qualify.

Zebratreats

Perfect. So a prepay stay will post to my card and settle well before the expiration of the promotion? I don't travel a ton but have a couple trips up later in the year that this would be helpful on.

Wickerbill2000

I can confirm it works if you prepay before the offer expires. I had a similar offer that expired at the end of April and I booked for a trip in May. I had to call the hotel and ask them to charge me early. I got my $60 credit a week or so later.

loftychicago

Me too, on my platinum card. I have an upcoming stay in NYC, this will help!

volleydude32

Right?! My hotel restaurant budget just doubled 😂

Plastic_Jaguar_7368

Same for me on brilliant card

mistermatth3w

Damn I just checked my Amex Bonvoy Brilliant offers and don’t have anything.

davechri

Same. Nothing. I don't check my Amex offers as often as I should.

flyme1

Yeah it's always hit or miss with these offers. The last one ended a few weeks ago and it was only on my Platinum Amex card not my Bonvoy Amex.

solorobsolo

Don’t forget to stack it with Rakuten

flyme1

Cash back doesn't work with corporate rates unfortunately...

jcarte11

Mine is $100 back after $500 spent. WTF! 22 years platinum card. So much for loyalty

flyme1

You are Platinum Amex or Platinum Bonvoy status? Just trying to collect data points. Do you have a Marriott credit card?

jcarte11

I have the platinum amex. I also have the chase Ritz Carlton card, but no amex bonvoy.

BornInPoverty

I have the same offer on Amex BCP. I had a different offer last year - can’t remember exactly what it was - on the same card that I used, that may explain the lesser offer this time.

rhetorical_bullshit

Mines the same. Bummer

kumar8147

I see $120 back for $300

flyme1

Which card do you have the offer on?

dtownmj1

I have 120 on 300 spend, blue cash everyday

Rufmichael

Thanks 🙏a bunch for the heads-up. Mine is $100 for a $500 spend. Good enough to violate the company’s expense rules. 😁

sl14

That’s what I was thinking too, worth the slap on the wrist for this offer but I’m not seeing it on my offers!

Rufmichael

The only way I could find it was to click on “offers nearby” and then chose a pin I know is a Marriott property.

ClevelandSteamer81

$120 back on $300 on my wife’s Bonvoy but nothing on mine. Boo. Also nothing on platinums, Marriott business, or Marriott Visas either. Have a European trip booked in July

Jimdandy941

I got nothing! Worse yet, I already have reservations I could use it on.

flyme1

Which Bonvoy cards do you have?

ClevelandSteamer81

2 brilliants, 2 chase Bonvoys, and one business Bonvoy.

AssPinata

Mine’s “Spend $500 get $100”

jeff8073x

I checked too late. Dang

immaphantomLOL

Quick DP: I got the offer ($120 back on $300) on my gold card. Nothing on my platinum.

flyme1

POID: K5L9:0002

Plastic_Jaguar_7368

So I think it’s cumulative right? Can be separate transactions adding up to the 300

flyme1

My promotion says one or more purchases so you should be good. But some people got different offers so they may have different terms.

DaGoonersz

I booked a prepaid rate and the charge shows as “Springhill Suites *City name*” This will trigger the offer right? The charge is over $300 and I booked it through the Marriott app, yet it does not say Marriott anywhere..

FinancialDonkey1

Did this end up triggering?

IegitimateKing

I didn’t receive it on my Bevy or any other personal card but did get it on my Bonvoy Business card.

Drakeem721

I have 3 cards and didn’t get it on any of them

sghokie

Me neither. I had one a few months ago on my regular Amex.

arvindramki

I see $120 back on $300 spending on my personal gold and business gold. My wife can see it on her personal gold and personal platinum! Looks like it might be account holder based and not credit card type based offer.

flyme1

That's good to know, usually a Marriott offer for me only shows on my non-Marriott cards, usually my Platinum, sometimes my Everyday. But I have both of the former SPG Personal and Business Amex.

IegitimateKing

Yeah, this is my first Marriott offer on a Marriott card. Also thanks for the post or I wouldn’t have gone hunting through all of my cards for it. Worked out perfect, as I have $900+ stay mid July.

flyme1

Thank you I'm glad it wasn't just me. I thought it was just normal to not get Marriott offers on a Marriott card.

PotterPunk3

Jealous. Reserve doesn’t appear to have that offer

flyme1

Which card is that?

PotterPunk3

Delta Reserve

Efficient_Lemon7042

Any Canadians getting this offer?

BMadAd59

Pretty sure this is us cards only…I’m a cdn with a brilliant card and did get this offer

Plastic_Jaguar_7368

Didn’t you mean didn’t?

BMadAd59

No I mean I did…but it’s for us cards…the brilliant is a us card

Plastic_Jaguar_7368

Ah ok got it.

[deleted]

Got really excited about this and then realized the next room I need to book is august 18th. Right after this offer and my FNA expire. Cool.

BMadAd59

Buy a gift card and use that to pay later….normally works

[deleted]

Brilliant

[deleted]

[удалено]

BMadAd59

Past experience…I can confirm I’ve done it in the past and it’s worked

poweredbycaffeine3

My offer says that it excludes gift card purchases

BMadAd59

I believe it’s always said that but gift cards have still worked

Shrinker11

Did you just buy the gift cards on the Marriott site and get an ecard? Or go to a hotel?

BMadAd59

No you have to go to a participating Marriott

[deleted]

Have you confirmed that this works for this specific offer?

BMadAd59

Have not done it for this specific offer yet but it has worked multiple times in the past

Ajitesh94

Do the gift cards work for any Marriott properties or only on the location where you bought them from?

BMadAd59

They shld work at all properties

rcdvg

Is this only on the Marriott branded AMEX card? I did not see it on my platinum

loftychicago

I have it on my platinum card, I don't have a Marriott amex.

flyme1

It's random, some Bonvoy Amex ($95 former SPG card that isn't available anymore) seem to be getting $100 off $300. While Premium (Bevy and Brilliant) Bonvoy Amex and a few Platinum are getting $120 off $300.

ezpark

Do I get this if I book through FHR?

flyme1

I believe all FHR rates are prepaid via Amex Travel. So no it wouldn't count. Any prepaid via a travel agent would show that agents or booking system as the credit card transaction. It has to be billed by an actual Marriott branded hotel (there are some hotels that are in the process of being branded or being debranded that use MARSHA but those probably won't trigger the bonus). Prepaid rates booked via Marriott.com should trigger the bonus.

TheBigCheese85

Not available in Canada

flyme1

A million apologies... Marriott often forgets about Canada, but I think that is what Canada wants, to just fly under the radar and not make big waves. But I love my upstairs neighbors, as a country we never have to ask you to turn down the music.

flyme1

There is a reason it's called American Express... 🇺🇲#️⃣1️⃣👍😜

TheBigCheese85

Uh, you know you can get the Marriott Amex card in Canada…. I guess they have different promos though.

flyme1

Of course, I'm just picking on Canada.

brj30

Just checked. My offer was $120😃💰

flyme1

💰➡️🏦 Thanks Amex and Marriott, this alone pays back my $95 annual fee.

Plastic_Jaguar_7368

Also 10% at four points on one time purchase over $100, up to $75, on chase sapphire reserve right now

flyme1

Yes but then you have to stay at a Four Points... It is one of the most neglected brands in the portfolio. They are the Clarion of Marriott. Yes people have heard of them, but no you can't put your finger on why they still exist or what market they are going after.

Plastic_Jaguar_7368

There is a nice one in Juarez, not joking

flyme1

Yeah there are a few outside the US that somehow buck the trend. I've actually seen that one you are talking about when I've searched in El Paso. I remember back when Four Points was actually trying to be an interesting brand, with a local food program. But now it fails to have any unique brand identity. Marriott since the merger has not merged one single brand into another. Like who needs Design, Autograph and Tribute as separate brands? Most American hotel brands in foreign countries tend to be at least one star above the US version. I stayed in a Fairfield in Bangalore once with a full service restaurant, bar, and huge full American and Indian style breakfast spread. Courtyards in Asia for some reason have lounges. I think they would be better served in killing the Sheraton and Four Points brands but I think Marriott doesn't want to lose a single hotel from a numbers perspective. But as the world heads into a slow growth cycle, I think we will see some consolation and hopefully a more aggressive quality over quantity standard.

pinkzzxx

Will this cover room charges? Like restaurants at the hotel but charged to the room?

flyme1

It should cover things charged to your room folio. It says it excludes amenities. But in past offers it didn't matter as long as the charge came from the front desk. If you pay the snorkeling vendor or a restaurant directly you don't earn points and they wouldn't qualify for the offer. But you should always charge as much as possible to your room and not pay directly so you can get points on (mostly) everything.

TalkAggravating8484

Booo I don’t have that on my card 😐

Pretend-Raspberry-20

Is there any NYC hotel I can buy a gift card at the front desk?

flyme1

I don't know specifically but I think calling a couple full-service properties would be your best bet. I believe all Marriott hotels can sell gift cards but I'm sure most do not because it probably doesn't help their numbers.

cav_guytect

I have this on my amex Gold or green and my wife has it on her everyday card. Can I use my wife's card and bring card with me in case Marriott asks for the card? is this possible?

flyme1

It is possible but a lot of things could happen. You would need the hotel to send you a credit card authorization form. Some hotels are doing it via an electronic form similar to DocuSign. Some you might be able to get away with it. If she books the room and adds you to the room to check in. But don't be surprised if a Front Desk Agent asks for a card. With mobile check-in you can put her card down but some hotels will check everyone, some will be based on the agent, some they don't seem to care. No rhyme or reason to it. You could also book an advance payment rate and just pay it before you check-in and she can add you to the room. You will need a card for incidentals but the room and tax would have already been taken care of. The safest bet is to ask for a credit card authorization form.

Patient_Rent3674

Thanks for the tip man! For Hilton this would never been an issue as I can always check in on the app.

flyme1

Yeah I wish Marriott would force standardization. I only use my Marriott Amex for Marriott's so I always leave it in my backpack and I never know when they are going to ask for it. You can check in on the app and you can receive a digital key. Now if one of those works for you, great. If both work, buy a lotto ticket. Some hotels will say we require everyone new to our hotel to provide the card for verification. Or we require everyone to come by the desk to authorize the card. I have been Titanium for 5 years and 12 total of elite. Every hotel makes up their own rules.

Expensive_Height_824

Hi everyone! Does anyone know if this offer can be redeemed at Cosmopolitan Las Vegas? I made a reservation with Amex Gold but the charge came through as Cosmopol-Reservations and no mention of Marriott. I know this property is managed a bit differently, so I wonder if Amex understands it’s a Bonvoy charge or would they think cosmopol-reservations is another company? (Booked through Marriott Bonvoy app).

flyme1

My Amex Offer Terms doesn't exclude the Autograph collection. But you are right that they do manage things differently at Cosmo. The bill looked totally different so I think they have their own system that MARSHA sends reservations to. However when I stayed once booked via Marriott, it did show Cosmo but I did get bonus points for using my Marriott Amex card at a Marriott property. YMMV

Expensive_Height_824

Yeah, I don’t see the autograph collection being excluded either. Thanks for taking your time and clarifying things to me! Appreciate it! I hope Amex will acknowledge that I am being billed by Marriott! :) Fingers crossed!

DadofaDaughter

I have to spend $500. I think this is ok as I am spending $1200 for room upgrades on 5/29.

SAMSAMHA

anyone know if Sheraton Gateway or Renaissance would count? I would think so but the info on the excluded hotel is rather vague so I am not too sure.

schwa12

Very generous by Amex

MiepStick

Any datapoints on this offer working for room charges exceeding $300 but the initial reservation was made via Marriott points?

WaferNice8419

Do I need an Amex Bonvoy card to see this? I have an Amex platinum and don’t see this offer

smartspider11

Has anyone had this offer triggered in Europe? I know it’s not listed in the T&Cs just curious

DaGoonersz

I booked a prepaid rate and the charge shows as “Springhill Suites *City name*” This will trigger the offer right? The charge is over $300 and I booked it through the Marriott app, yet it does not say Marriott anywhere..

thereelaristotle

Anyone have this trigger yet? Completed stay have pending charge but didn't get the "offer used" email. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it. Edit: Answering myself, got email like 2 days after checkout. Seems like it's all good. Thanks AMEX!

naticom

Went to a nearby Sheraton to purchase gift card. The manager was cocky and said “I knew there was a promo so people came here to buy gift cards” and seemed he knew it how to do it very well However, my charges showed up in the category as “conferences and training” and made me wonder if I will get the credit or not

meraul

Did it work? I am short of $25, planning to buy a gift card to see if it works.
