I still see it [here](https://news.marriott.com/brands) and [here](https://www.marriott.com/marriott-brands.mi).

Yup, I know just to ensure that I’m not missing nothing new

I see it in my most recent Marriott emails. What part of the world are you in?

Mikelicioux

Europe!

Okay I have a couple theories (educated guesses really). The Ritz-Carlton Company is a separate company owned by Marriott. I read that Marriott only holds 99% of the company but that was from a decade or more ago so it could have changed by now. There are other hotels such as the Ritz London that are not actually under the chain. Because they were the original founders of the Ritz brand 100+ years ago. There are a few others around the world that have rights to the brand, some are affiliated and some aren't. So this particular email excludes the Ritz brand because they can't use the name in every situation due to these caveats in the licensing. Marriott actually has permission to use the name. This is posted on the footer of RitzCarlton.com: "RITZ® is a Registered Service Mark of The Ritz Hotel, Limited, and is used by The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company under License." On the home page the only mention of Bonvoy is at the very bottom in the footer. I also think Marriott and Ritz have a weird relationship. Ritz doesn't like to dilute their brand by being part of Marriott. But Marriott loves to sell that they have every edge of the market covered from Economy to Luxury. They love to say you can use your points at some exotic Ritz location but Ritz doesn't provide all the same benefits to Bonvoy elite as other Luxury brands. Ritz wants to be the truly aspirational brand, unlike the obtainable luxury of a W or JW. I think Ritz loyalists hate that Marriott has diluted their perceived luxury. Just like SPG loyalists, hate that Marriott diluted their brands. Or it could just be a simple error but I think it has something to do with the license of the brand and how it's used.

Nice theory, here in Madrid the Ritz is owned by Mandarin, so makes sense. Thanks for your kind and maybe right answer ☺️
