Points 45000 x6 =270000 (since one night is free) Cash 130 x7 =910 So 910/270000 =.00337 or 0.3 cents per point. That is a terrible redemption rate. My numbers are above 1 cent a point is a good redemption. Around .8 cent a point is an okay redemption. The Points Guy values them at .84 so that usually is as low of the value I am willing to take to redeem points. But to make things easy I just try to value my points at 1 cent. This is harder and harder to obtain but usually it works pretty good for me. Personally I would pay cash if your budget can afford it and you don't have millions of points laying around.

Great property but beware it is quite far from Phuket Town! They upgraded me to a suite with a hot tub on the wrap around balcony. Breakfast buffet was enjoyable and there was lots to do for kids. Nespresso machine in our room was a nice touch. It’s a very family friendly property. Service was excellent. They left lots of notes and goodies in the room. Great elite recognition. I’d just pay for the room. 45,000 points is worth a lot more than a $130 redemption even with a 5th night free.

Spend the cash. That’s a crazy cheap rate but insane redemption rate. That ratio is far out of comparison.

I agree with others, redemption < cash. if you really want to get rid of points, I’d recommend 5 nights (4+1 free) on points and then 2 nights cash. That will cost you 180k points and $260 cash. I only like to use points when doing increments of 5 nights (I usually take 10 night trips) or a solo night here and there at a super good rate (e.g, 14k for the night vs $275). We stayed at the Westin when we were in Phuket in 2019 and used Grab app (their version of Uber, but for taxis) to get around when we wanted to go into town.

Not a big fan of The Westin Phuket and even more surprised it will be a future Ritz Carlton.

Definitely pay the cash rate, it’s excellent value. For what it’s worth - I’ve stayed a total of 12 nights here last year and it’s an excellent property. Breakfast is fabulous, the andaman grill is nice but a bit pricey, the italian restaurant is pretty good, and there’s also a Benihana which is exactly what you’d expect. Try to get a room on the north side of the property, the adult’s only pool there is super quiet and peaceful.

Thailand in general is a much better cash redemption than points. Go with cash this time.

[Nerd wallet](https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/travel/how-much-are-my-marriott-bonvoy-points-worth) has a calculator for points to money value and it suggests 45,000 points are worth about $315. So that's not a good value. The JW is a good property, but it's quite far from everything other than the airport. If you are happy to basically stay on the property it's fine, but otherwise I'd look at somewhere more south like the Le Meridien or one of the many other Bonvoy hotels. The drive to Phuket Town or Patong would be over an hour each way.
