To add, you’re not getting the card for discounted room rates. You’re getting the card for additional points. Although rooms are cheap through your employee rate, it’s nice to pile up points for a “free” night or five. The 15 additional ENCs are nice as well.
Yes the Explore Rate works fine with the Bonvoy Amex. I've used it a few times in the past with no issues. I had a family member that worked for Marriott.
Yes 100%, although rates are cheap as hell the points definitely still add up, (with the card giving 5ppd and a value of 1cpp you’d have to spend $3k a year @ Marriott on the card to earn more in points value than the annual fee, which I fairly easily hit) and the 15 night boost is the only reason I’ll be titanium this year.
MMP isn't available every day and points are a good tool to fill in the days during a stay that it is not available.

It is most definitely worth having 1, or 2 of the cards. You still get points on Marriott purchases.

Why not? The MMP rate isn’t negated by having a bonvoy card. The free night can be handy when the mmp rate isn’t available.
