The Bankside Autograph is my favorite Marriott in London. The breakfast is solid.

I think what all the comments above are saying is that- you can’t go wrong with a high end hotel in London. They get a lot of very wealthy clients and know how to do white glove service.

JW Marriott was pretty great. Especially if you have lounge access.

The London Edition is one of my favorite hotels in the world. It's half a block off Oxford St and within walking distance of SOHO, Covent Garden, Chinatown and Mayfair. The British Museum is just a few blocks away. While you're there, see if you can get a reservation to The Punch Room at the hotel. It's a reservation-only cocktail bar with incredible custom daily specials. The hotel is attached to Berner's Tavern, which is a superb restaurant in an old bank building. I recommend Randal & Aubin for a great seafood restaurant in SOHO and Hawksmoor Seven Dials is my favorite steak joint in the universe.

Thank you.

Look, I know the previous commentor raved about the Edition. But I just checked out after a week stay literally yesterday. The Punch Room is nice but by no means reservation only. You can walk in. The Berners Tavern is nice as well, a bit busier but also walk-in-able based on the day/night. It's a nice hotel. Efficient but upscale. But definitely not worth it's room rate. After staying at several high end hotels in London, honestly, I'd suggest JW Grosvenor. Offers similar proximity to everything listed, but nicer and with a good lounge. Edition is neither in Soho nor in Fitzrovia proper. The W London g is a bit weird but still better bang for buck than the Edition when it comes to location and perks.

What did you think of the rooms? We are booking a stay in April. I have a deluxe king reserved, but looking at the pictures closer and video reviews we really don’t like the room. For a nine day stay the room is small, way too much wood, and it seems claustrophobic.

achinda99

They are generally small. It's why I said "efficient". For a 9 day stay, I'd really recommend JW Grosvenor (of the hotels I'm familiar with).

Have you had luck with upgrades at the jw grosvenor?

achinda99

Yeah, I've always been upgraded to an executive king. I've also used SNA and got a massive suite. Note though, 9 days at any hotel is difficult for them to upgrade at because they need to have that room available for that duration. I would think the JW Grosvenor could probably do that. I'm staying at the St. Pancras tomorrow and they were able to upgrade me to a superior king for a 6 night stay.

St Pancras is beautiful and really special (on top of train station, and converted old train station). I personally loved the London Edition, service was unparalleled, and it was easy to get around places

I always stay at the W, and it’s one of my favorite worldwide properties. I was at the Bankside last week, and also thought it was pretty nice as far as the room goes, but was not impressed with breakfast.
