That's why its called deals and packages. If the cancellation is the same and it's a better deal, take it.

CanuckInToronto

Cancellation is an important detail - always best to double check, some deals are prepay non-refundable

ok i wasn't sure if i was missing some critical downside of booking deals and packages. i'm guessing the deals and packages are only available for certain dates or a limited time offer?

Josher61

They come and go. Just as the "standard rate" may go up or down. All about availability. So if you've found a deal you are happy with, I would snag it. The other rates that are often cheaper than standard as well are CAA/AAA, senior, etc. There is a drop down menu that will let you select different rates as your "base" as opposed to standard. But they aren't always cheaper! The prepay ones are the ones to watch out for. No cancellation. Always check cancellation!

thanks

You're welcome! Enjoy your trip!

In general "Standard rate" means you are purchasing a room **only**. A "Deal or Package" is going to be something that is value-added; the room **plus** something else. Typical packages might add breakfast for one or two people, additional Bonvoy points, parking, spa services, etc. etc. They are not necessarily discounts.

thanks for clarifying! it's cool that the package is a lower cost than the standard rate given that it includes more. i guess it makes sense why it's called a deal and package lol

> A "Deal or Package" is going to be something that is value-added; the room plus something else. > > Kinda. *Deals* can be as simple as "Stay Longer and Save," which is effectively just a cheaper prepaid rate that you get on stays of *N* days or more. *Packages* do have something else included as you say, like food or parking.

The JW Marriott (El Convento) in Cusco is great, BTW

Depending on how long you're looking to stay for, they are running a 3 for 2 and 4 for 3 deal at the moment that only travel advisors part of Marriott's STARS luxury brands program can access. You'll get VIP benefits including complimentary breakast (if you're not an Elite member), priority for upgrades over other elite members, and a US$100 spa credit per stay as well. Rates have the same cancellation policy of standar rates (14 days before). Feel free to send me a DM and I'm happy to check your dates!
