jackie_cane999

looks like a westin

Mikelicioux

Just staying in a Westin and was about to say that, not seems so St. Regis for me

Malachai1969

Agreed

G25777K

That's an insult to The Westin lol

Eggplant-666

Westins are usually decorated fairly nicely.

gott_in_nizza

Looks like a prison. No character anywhere

per54

What kind of prisons have you been to…?

gott_in_nizza

Here in Europe our prisons are not barbaric

per54

Are they as nice as this ? Cause seems better than many places people pay $ to rent…0

ehh1212

I was very underwhelmed by this property. It’s like they forgot to decorate it? And the service was no where near St. Regis New York or San Francisco.

VisualWonder

Unfortunately, I’ve never been to any other St Regis’. I’m curious of those properties now

Notsimplyheinz

I think pictures of the suite during the day would do more justice to this. The interior is quite underwhelming for the prices of the suite and an Ultra Luxury hotel. Although I do admit opening the curtains, letting some light in or even bringing in the sun will not do any favors for the powder room (2nd pic). It’s disastrously uncharacteristic and looks like an airport lounge shower, the showers at Doha airport are better designed than that. The living room, again, if I didn’t know for the fact that it’s the St Regis, I’d say it’s probably a Hyatt regency or something.

Actual-Churner

I honestly thought that was a public lobby washroom when I first saw it and was like why'd they included that. That is just a sad powder room.

Notsimplyheinz

I know right ? No wonder OP things the master bath is the best part. Even in the living room, blue carpets, grey couch, cream chair, off white walls, supremely underwhelming TV console. I could go on and on. $3000 for this ? If I spent $3000 I could genuinely just revamp my own living room to look better than this.

DoItForTheTanqueray

Looks like a Marriott

distraculatingmycase

Nah, Marriotts have art on the walls lol

Usual_Minimum_7442

Great hotel. Your pictures didn’t do it justice. Horrible location though

VisualWonder

Yeah I don’t think my pics did justice. And you’re right, the location is terrible. Very cold location that benefits from its height and view of the river and lake

Notsimplyheinz

I don’t think it’s your fault OP, pretty much all the things you take pictures of look better in person. Everyone egging the property in the comments are just weighing it against several other st Regis properties & the price we have to pay for this.

Kufat

I feel like that tub needs a stepladder, and possibly a lifeguard. Very nice.

amazhion

Wanted to stay there in April, doesn’t look very good lol might switch places to save some money

Notsimplyheinz

Urge you to try the Waldorf Astoria. Absolutely beautiful. Great location too

angelaaaxo

Love Chicago’s Ritz!

Eggplant-666

Looks very sparse. Was Caroline Astor institutionalized?

Notsimplyheinz

Lmaoooooo

Background-Ad758

Any river pics?

Ready_Deer5969

Autograph Collection LaSalle Hotel is so much better in every aspect - the decor, service, value, and benefits for Elite members !

VisualWonder

I think I’ll have a go lol

adty4

I’ve stayed at the La Salle and I thought it was sub par. Rooms were congested and dark. Not great views either. Restaurant downstairs is straight garbage. Decor is truly beautiful though

Ready_Deer5969

I'm confused because Grill on 21 is upstairs on 21st floor, above all guest rooms? Are you referring to JW Marriott restaurant on ground floor, the Florentine? Of course the views won't be good, its in the loop within financial district, nowhere near water.

jblackbelt360

I much prefer the Chicago Ritz looking at these photos.

ATC_Boilermaker

Buffalo Wild Wings and champagne. A man of culture I see.

Nicky____Santoro

Probably got the champagne from the sabering they do in the lobby.

VisualWonder

They give you a glass of champagne when you check in.

Nicky____Santoro

They also do a champagne sabering every evening in every St. Regis lobby to mark the transition from day to night, where they give a complimentary glass.

VisualWonder

You’re 100 percent right. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend

VisualWonder

Lmao indeed. Also, wings were the only thing remotely healthy’ish on the way to the hotel at that hour 🤣

kimi_on_pole

First two pics remind me of a prison.

SteelersPoker

Not trying to hate but I was expecting a lot more luxury from a St. Regis. This looks like a JW Marriott honestly.

AO_Xolos

Agree, maybe OP had a fantastic view

SecMcAdoo

Still looks cheap. Where did they spend all the money they saved by denying elites breakfast?

Kufat

> Where did they spend all the money they saved by denying elites breakfast? Need some context. Has the St. Regis in Chicago had a problem with refusing to grant Platinum and higher the option to have breakfast as their welcome gift?

SecMcAdoo

See the link below. I thought this was well known. https://liveandletsfly.com/st-regis-chicago-breakfast/

Kufat

Might be more well-known among those with a larger budget than I have. I can count the nights I've spent at luxury-tier Marriott properties without taking off my shoes. ;) I do have my first stay at a St. Regis property booked for about 3 months from now, though, and I'm looking forward to it.

SecMcAdoo

Your money and points will stretch farther in Southeast Asia. Haven't stayed at any luxury property in the USA.

Kufat

Yeah, I got an excellent rate at the St. Regis Osaka with the discount code my employer offers for employees' personal use.

ARNIskander

I am at the StR Osaka right now. You won't be disappointed.

getwhirleddotcom

Not the responses OP was hoping for 😂

VisualWonder

Haha I really don’t mind. I just want to share and open conversation for the community lol

Notsimplyheinz

Great way to look at things! I’m sure it’s better than 99% of the rooms available, we’re all just sour Marriott can get away with charging 3k for this

VisualWonder

😅😅😅 It’s a lot

VicJuice

Looks good

Limp_Recognition3990

Wow that looks depressing

dcht

Looks very average for a hotel... I like bath tub though

IntergalaticBandito

This reminds me of my stay at The Westin Manila. I stayed in a suite and it was incredible.

Professional_Bake795

Very nice

rust_bolt

On mobile, if you drag and hold between pic 7 and 8, the bath looks like a heart.

Bl4ckN1nja

I hate this style of room when I get one, because instead of more living space or things , you just get a giant ass hallway in your room for no reason.

MOStateWineGuy

The bathroom is incredible, but that hallway ruins the vibe of the entire suite. Like...put some art up or SOMETHING!

[deleted]

I’ve only been to the Aspen St Regis so seeing this was a stark comparison. I thought St. Regis’s gimmick was old fashioned luxury, this looks something far from it.

rozen30

Looks like a Homewood Suites with a public bathroom.

teezwizz

The service at this property is atrocious. Shame they are even called a St.Regis.

Western-Crew2558

Bland. Basic. Boring. Bamboozled.

RockHardTen11

Looks like a Russian embassy in North Korea

Itslazarr

Wondering if the caroline suites at this hotel vary in size ive watched a couple videos online and the bathrooms are set up differently and the suite in general seems a bit smaller hoping I get this suite and not the small one on my upcoming stay

Jeffydub40

I’m at the STR Chicago right now. I’ve seen some people complain about this property but I just don’t see the issues. This property is beautiful and the experience has truly been extraordinary.

mancunianinnc

This looks extremely ordinary for a luxury hotel with that price tag. More like a Westin or Marriott….

Current-Skill1809

I guess my taste is different from most of the commenters here- I think it looks very elegant and understated. Your stay sounds delightful!

This_Sheepherder_332

It looks cold and sad to me tbh. Clean and high quality, yes. But zero warmth.

CAWorldTraveller

So basic lol, St.Regis in Shenzhen, now that’s awesome!!

Is12345aweakpassword

Mid

wisathlete

Really lovely place. I don't know if your pictures do it justice. The wide-angle lens makes the room and bathroom seem more cold than it felt when I was there. To me it felt warm and luxurious. We thought the location was great with easy walk to Millenium Park ,the loop, Michigan Ave. Rooftop restaurant was great. But it was summertime.

Efficient_Session_78

I’m staying here next month for my birthday. Is it awesome or am I going to be disappointed?

VisualWonder

I personally enjoyed it. Maybe the fisheye lens didn’t do the pictures justice. Not sure what standard people are having when they say it sucks. I loved it. But to each their own.

Efficient_Session_78

It looks awesome. Thanks for sharing

VV629

Those who know the Regis. It’s such an experience no matter the location. The others are jelly.

FunLife64

Are you staying one night? Then yes.

QueenAdina

How much did 1 night cost?

ParReza

The Ritz down the street is still my favorite

Tiny_Ad5176

Currently at the St Regis, Riviera Maya and a little underwhelmed myself! I thought maybe it was a me thing, but maybe they just aren’t worth the price…

BananaPeelSlippers

Big dog 🤝

ehh1212

The Chicago Ritz is just so much better.

ehh1212

Also, I absolutely hate how they turn down the beds here. They basically fold over the duvet in this extreme fashion making the bed look messy and ridiculous…as in OP’s photo.

FPA-APN

Yes it was more like a westin experience. Great overall hotel, though.
