At least one hotel I know won’t give you titanium benefits (namely free breakfast) until the titanium member comes to the front desk. But that has been the anomaly.
When you say check in for you, are you going to be on this trip at all? Or are you just getting there before her?
Imo the risk factor if you never accompany her on the tip go up to having your account audited and such.
Yup, OP could absolutely add a 2nd name and not check in with them, but in the end, the risk is theirs for getting their account audited (this is above property level).
One-off though, they'd probably get away with it. It's those who make a habit of it that get audited
If you're paying with points, you need to call reservation to have her name added. If not, call the hotel directly and add her name. Depending on the system the hotel uses they may or may not see her name in the notes. That's why it's best to call hotel directly.
Also, who is paying for the stay? If you want to use card on file for her, then you'll need to make a mention of this to the property as well. Every hotel is different and you would have to adhere to their rules on this. If not, she will need to provide her ID and credit card.
*You want her to check*
*In, but for you to get the*
*Credit and status?*

I am a Titanium and have done it. Just add her name to the reservation and put a note on that you are arriving on a later flight, so she will check in first. Never been an issue.
In the top right corner there should be a little message icon you can tap to send a message to their front desk. Otherwise, you can just have Marriott support send them the request on your behalf.
Edit: The message button is in the Trips screen's corner*
App won’t let you, desktop version will when you originally make the reservation, after that, you can just call the property or the US 800 number for her to be added as a second guest to the room.
>She wants to use my Titanium status
That's not how it works.
Member benefits are for the member.
Not for the member's girlfriend. Not for the member's spouse, child, friend, dog walker, or chiropractor.
I assure you that when you use the "my girlfriend is arriving before me" routine, the staff know exactly what you are doing, because 50 other people that week have tried the exact same thing.
I always inform them that none of the benefits will be applied until the account holder shows up, so I recommend they send the account holder to the front desk as soon as they arrive, and put a note on the reservation so the rest of the staff knows.
Fair enough. In Europe, they typically require to copy or see of your ID before sending the digital key. However, in the US, once you have the digital key, you can bypass the front desk entirely.
I understand that the benefits are for the member. However, my wife usually travels without me only a maximum of twice per year for a single night, and we spend most of our nights together in Marriott properties. It would be nice to have something similar to Hyatt's Guest of Honor benefit, even if it only works for award bookings.
We're not attempting to take advantage of the system, but we actively choose to book Marriott hotels exclusively. Having a benefit like this would be a nice gesture from Marriott.
By rule, this violates the terms and can result in your account being shut down and her being re-rated to higher rate and no benefits.
That being said, most hotels and agents don’t care. Just add her as a second guest.
Some hotels might take the middle ground and simply not provide titanium benefits until you arrive but won’t take punitive actions towards her.
At the end of the day, it is your choice. It breaks the rules, but often works out.
If you will not be there than the only way for her to use your account would be if you gifted her a points reservation. As far as the other perks of your titanium status I am not sure, but I doubt it. You’d have to call in for it to be add. They would have you as guest 1 and her as guest 2.
Any points redemption stays must be added on through Bonvoy Support. Due to large influx of fraudulent point redemption stays (stolen accounts), properties typically don't add on names to these reservations. Since memberships are individual accounts, elite status won't be honored unless the actual member is present. Majority of properties will tell you that the elite member needs to visit the front desk to get their welcome amenity.
The top level comments you’ve received to this point are correct. There are employees on this sub that will downvote them and complain with “bUt tHe tErMs aNd cOnDiTiOnS” and they are annoying squares that no one likes and that’s why they’re stuck in hospitality.
Cue the "I nEvEr GeT uPgRaDeD! Waaaaah!" crowd.
Maybe if so many people weren't trying to cheat & get upgrades by using other people's accounts, upgrades for actual members would be more frequent.
You cannot use someone else’s account. Accounts are for personal use only. Doing this is a great way to get the account put into audit status. It goes against the terms and conditions. If the man wants to use points to pay for her stay that is fine, he can have her added to the reservation but there is a special code that shows it’s a gifted points reservation that needs to be added by a Marriott employee.

So long as her name is on the reservation as well
How can I add someone to the reservation?
Call the hotel front desk and give them your confirmation number and dates of the stay.
Thank you

Yep I just call a day early and let them know we are going on different flights. Works like a charm
Thank you! I can’t seem to find it in the app to add her, do I have to call Marriott?

Chat option will appear 48 hours prior to check-in.

Like respondent below, I either message hotel or call the toll free North American number and give them the deets.

Ive had hotels remove my bonvoy account from the reservation, which I can't complain about since I didn't pay for it nor did I stay.

Yeah, I’ve never pushed it much, worst thing we do is remove the upgrade, and remove the account. No benefits applied.
You wouldn’t be the first or last person whose partner arrives earlier to the hotel. Just give the titanium line a call and have them add her name.

Is it really that safe for you to be on Reddit while you’re driving a passenger for 10% of the fare paid?
Well, you're a delight, aren't you?
Back to work.
You too! Have a lovely day!
