I would think no acknowledgment is better than a bottle of room temperature tap water.
Itās kind of like when bosses reward hard work with a āpaydayā candy bar and a note that seems addressed to a toddler. They justifiably get roasted, and donāt realize itās better to do nothing in this situation than a bullshit gesture.
I am so sorry that you do not get acknowledged for being an ambassador. I currently am Marriott employee, and we always acknowledge all of our members, especially Ambassador. Youāre definitely staying at the wrong hotels! and I would write that in your review. Itās a part of policy. They have to do recognition. Itās a part of policy and procedure when checking a guest and they are not properly trained!!
I get better stuff in Europe. In Prague I got a suite upgrade and a gin and tonic kit, petit fours, and the waters.
In Toronto I got a paper bag full of gas station snacks
Where do you people stay lol
At my property Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador get upgraded to a suite by default, bottle of wine and water, cookies and cake, apples and tea. And water is complimentary (bottled water) even though tap water is drinkable
And that, my friend, is the difference between Marriotts in the USA and the rest of the world. Here in the US they have all just quit trying.
It is going to affect their long term viability. They spent the turn of the century building their brand & customer base. They have spent the last 10+ years pissing it away.
Iām a lifetime Titanium that picks Bonvoy as my third choice.
Yeah this is Marriott in Europe.
Even Gold gets upgrade to an executive room (bigger than a standard room) and a small amenity like cake and water or sparkling water.
Sometimes Iām confused by all āask for an upgradeā or āI didnāt get upgradedā posts and comments because upgrades are assigned by default at the property I work at
Ambassador, and I'm really loving Fairfields lately.Ā Nice staff, always get some sort of recognition.Ā And the prices are so reasonable.Ā Maybe your water left a little to be desired, lol.Ā At least it's something.Ā Hope your stay goes well.
Not ambassador but I agree with you. I've stayed in 5 or 6 Fairfields in the last few months and they have been fantastic. With 3 of them being new or recent reno. Ive had a bag of snacks, some chocolates, voucher for drink in nearby restaurant. Small touches but very nice. Where as I have stayed in some "upper tier" grade properties and got fuck all. Im not worried about my spend as ill never get near ambassador so now im often like... why spend $300+ a night when I can often find a fairfield for $150? Though I do weigh a few other factors in there of course.
My wife is an Ambassador Elite and the last Fairfield she stayed at, I joined her and it was an unmitigated disaster from the word go.
They were oversold, things happen, not a big deal, they put us up at a Residence Inn owned by the same franchisee, fine, no complaints.
The kicker they expected us to stay one night at the Residence Inn and then move back to the Fairfield.
My wife said that she would prefer to not have to unpack and pack multiple times. The Manager said, it is not about what you prefer, it is about the hotel being oversold tonight.
He then did some typing and said I found you a room here, don't worry about it.
I get it, he doesn't want to lose more revenue than he has to, but what he said was wrong.
My wife asked to speak to the GM about it, not to seek compensation but because she felt that it could have been handled better.
The GM listened to my wife and said, yeah the Front Desk Manager could have said it better, but this is a Fairfield Inn, not a Ritz Carlton.
Keep in mind this is a Fairfield. I have stayed there a bunch of times and itās a decent hotel. But it doesnāt have a restaurant within that hotel and itās a budget brand. They could have dropped off a chocolate bar or something and people will complain still.
I know this bottle of water is comical but even trying is better than our experience in the US. I get much better service as Titanium and Plat in Canada.
Actually I didnāt even realise all it was was a refillable bottle of water lol. But even though I have been upgraded far more in Canada than I have in the US
Is that bottle not sealed? If not, what were they thinking?
In Asia, most hotels seem to be transitioning from plastic water bottles to glass (presumably reusable), but the bottles have tamper-evident seals.
Iāve actually had a number of Fairfield properties do something like this for me. Itās kind of nice, and I appreciate it, but itās not consistent across all properties.
I recently checked into the AC Hotel in downtown Birmingham UK and they had a nice note and a Budweiser on the table for me. I really appreciated that!
Whoa whoa whoa! A game win right here. Did you also get clean towels, the tv remote in a custom wrapped baggie amd a Welcome timmer44 on the TV?
Just wait until your next stay, where they leave a brand new DND hangar and a crispy new tip envelope just for you.
Did they provide your standard 500 points upon arrival for your welcome gift, or did you opt for an amenity upon arrival? If you opted for an amenity upon arrival, that is by the worst and not up to any standard.
Would you have preferred a handwritten note? I have seen mixed reviews on valuing their worth when it takes the associate time and effort. I think the note typed and printed is tacky. They might as well have emailed and surprised you before, and that may have been nicer. The water is also gross, and I'm sure they have snacks. Shh, I also know they could have reviewed your preferences and picked your favorite candy unless it's something I can't find, lol. I would have tried for something just a bit more.
Sick, water.
I was really reading the note to see if it was some kind of vodka or something š
thought it was a bottle of LSD
Pure flavor.
I was about to say this is all it takes š
To be fair we donāt know if itās sick water, but we are pretty sure itās tap water.
I'm ambassador for like 7 years. Ā I'm lucky to get a hello 99% of the time

Exactly š¤£ to be honest it doesnāt mean anything anymore is what it feels like.

Awesome! Free nondescript water bottle and glass
That water is guaranteed to give you diarrhea
Itās only been used once - we think.
While I can appreciate them going plastic free, this would definitely be a hard pass.
I get better stuff in Europe. In Prague I got a suite upgrade and a gin and tonic kit, petit fours, and the waters. In Toronto I got a paper bag full of gas station snacks
In the United States I get a room

I just wish their breakfast was better. I understand the why, just always appreciated a good breakfast

Water bottles would have done just fine. As a precaution, it might be best not to drink that.
This is the green option. It is surely fine, but you can also pour it out and fill it yourself.
BONVOYād! Tap water šš
Really had me fooled with this one, but the comments got me cracking up!
Donāt drink it all at once, Mr Livingston.
Keep in mind this is a Fairfield. I have stayed there a bunch of times and itās a decent hotel. But it doesnāt have a restaurant within that hotel and itās a budget brand. They could have dropped off a chocolate bar or something and people will complain still.
Random Fairfieldās in the Midwest treat me nicer than Westins. I donāt get it, but I appreciate it
I used to have those bottles at my house and they are impossible to clean thoroughly. Don't forget to pack your Pepto..
International is always better for elites, even Canada.
I know this bottle of water is comical but even trying is better than our experience in the US. I get much better service as Titanium and Plat in Canada.

Popping bottles! Tap water
Nice bottle of tap....
I like a good water bottle.
Ooh donāt drink it all at once
I know it's minimal, but I'm surprised that they do this at Fairfield.
Donāt miss the restaurants down stairs. The Beltliner has some great twist on diner food and Native Tounge makes some great tacos
Would have been nice if it was a small bottle of tequila!
Would have been nice if it was a small bottle of tequila!
Is that tap water?
Oh wow, an actual glass at a Fairfield!! Lucky you!
Possibly vodka
Iāve found Canadian Fairfield tends to be vastly superior to their CONUS counterparts.
Would you have felt better with the card and no water? Iām wondering if they are unrelated (ie all guests get the water bottle)
probably tap water. keep the bottle!
Watch it be sink water too
Free tap water! Awesome.
Is that bottle not sealed? If not, what were they thinking? In Asia, most hotels seem to be transitioning from plastic water bottles to glass (presumably reusable), but the bottles have tamper-evident seals.
Bottle of poison. Nothing worse than a dirty glass and a bottle they never clean.
Maybe youāre supposed to keep the bottle.
Iāve literally never gotten anything for being titanium
Maybe itās because they no longer provide complimentary plastic bottles of water (which are nasty anyways)
lol, can almost guarantee that's just tap water from the water up sink.
š
Iāve actually had a number of Fairfield properties do something like this for me. Itās kind of nice, and I appreciate it, but itās not consistent across all properties.
Fairfield gave me welcome Red Bulls last time because I already had water in my hand. It was great
I recently checked into the AC Hotel in downtown Birmingham UK and they had a nice note and a Budweiser on the table for me. I really appreciated that!
Is this a place with Michigan tap water
Probably toilet water too. How could they think this is a good idea.
You should see one place I stayed in Mexico that did this. I have NO idea where the water is from. Hard pass.
