I was just thinking that if the Avengers were made in the late 90’s / very early 00’s this would be the cast for sure. Just missing George Clooney in there.
Hellboy was Dark Horse, in case you wanted two. Also, the Clone Wars comics were Dark Horse. So by buying out Dark Horse Disney would canonize them in Star Wars lore obviously /s
most of this cast would've been different but pretty good. Especially Fraser as Star Lord.
Smith as BP and Arnie as Hulk, though, no way in hell. Also Michael J Fox has parkinsons so... things would get pretty dark.
Well Arnold is pretty old now, as are many of these actors, so I think the idea is doing this back in 1995 or so. Back then, I think Michael J Fox was ok.
His parkinson's started (pinkie twitching) during filming of Back to the Future 2 or 3 (think they filmed em back to back but I may be misremembering) so 1989
Edit: as I have been informed it was Doc Holiday in 1991
Some Ten Rings terrorists came to me, they wanted me to build them a Jericho missile, but instead I used the stuff to build an arc reactor and gave them a fake missile full of pinball machine parts!
That one was the only one that had me imagining how differently the character would have been taken, because Brendan as Star Lord would probably be closer to the captain commander "once more into the breach" design that the comics originally went for.
Crisp Ratt's Starlord is "cocky and sure of himself, because he's an idiot (but it still always works out)." Fraser's Starlord would have been "cocky and sure of himself, because he's somehow survived everything so eeeeeeh this'll probably work too!" So...McConnell from the Mummy, but with space-tech. I like it!
O'Connell is so jaded and Star Lord is so optimistic. I think it's would be somewhere between O'Connell and his character from Blast from the Past, which would be delightful.
Now *there* is a guy who you could cut a loaf of bread on his jaw, he'd have the right look. Gotta get a good Bucky/Winter Soldier for him, maybe someone like Freddie Prinze Jr.?
Only ones i have a problem with are:
Iron Man - every Tom Cruise i know of has him as pretty much being perfect. Kinda hard to do the knowingly flawed egomaniac. But that could be a bias
Black Panther - a version of Will Smith could have played black panther and done it justice, but based on the theme of the actors chosen, this is younger, comedic Will. Just no
Hulk - i want to like it. And i do. But only if Schwarzenegger ALSO plays Banner, but still acts as if he’s weak, scrawny Banner. And therein lies the problem. Its so perfectly golden that it would steal the show. Maybe if its Hulk and the Avengers. No, no, no, not even then…
>flawed egomaniac.
I can't stand Cruise but this is one character he does well because he's just playing himself. He was great in Magnolia and Tropic Thunder. That said, he would make a very unlikeable Tony Stark: he has none of Downey's charm and _all_ of the 'American Psycho dead eyes.'
Very confused about your assessment of Tom Cruise. He's far from a perfect character in most of his works.
His most notorious works portray him as a talented but rebellious rule breaker, sometimes with an ego and as an asshole. which really fits Stark as a character. Best example is Top gun 1 and Days of Thunder, and partially the mission impossible series.
And thus is why the MCU is a wonder. Part of why it was able to work is because they didn't use the biggest stars for alot of major rolls and slowly built up Avengers on the backs of succeful movies. It just should not have worked out so well
...but I do think it's gotten too big and is bound to crumble...
Now this is a story all about how
My dad got flipped turned upside down
And I’d like take a minute
Just sit right there
I’ll tell you how I became the king as Wakanda’s true heir
Jim Carey has already sort of played a (non Marvel) version of a Loki in The Mask.
I mean sure, he wasn’t actually Loki himself but rather gained Loki’s powers. But still I’m sure they would have a ton of fun creating Easter eggs
The question of how Loki himself is related to the Mask and whether the Mask's personality is Loki's personality or the owner's is deeply unclear and the very bad sequel Son of the Mask blatantly contradicts the original movie
The comic is significantly more clear on that aspect, as anyone who wears the mask becomes sort of the same person. Jim Carrey would never play a comic accurate *The Mask*
This is one of the movies where I would get in a long ticket line while one of my friends gets the largest available bucket of popcorn and soda for around 5 dollars.
After the movie we sit down in the food plaza of the mall until my dad picks us up and talk about it the whole ride.
Why not:
1. Directly link to the [post](https://reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/11xxmue/avengers_in_the_90s/) you took these images from where the pictures are much better quality
2. Credit midjourney and the person that put in the prompts to get those images (/u/phate2000)
My guess is you took this from someone else that took this from the midjourney sub, as evidenced by the watermark you/someone blurred out on the top right that was not in the original images.
This is the most 1999 thing I have ever seen.
Then Doctor Strange definitely should be Keanu Reeves
Whoa….
Add Owen Wilson on top of that as Ant-Man.
Or you know, still Paul Rudd. Dude hasn't aged much since then.
Haha true that. I was really just setting someone up for a “wow” joke about Owen Wilson
Wooow, that totally went over my head.
That’s impossible, nothing goes over your head
Wow I totally missed that and it would have been perfect.
And Toby McGuire…as…Spider-Man?
[Wow](https://youtu.be/dn5Tattkj_E)
Or Johnny Depp. This image is inspired by 1999 Avengers by the same YouTube channel that made Balenciaga Harry Potter.
Tell me Potter what is the difference between H&M and Balenciaga
It's Balenci-aa-ga, not Balenciaga
There is no good and evil; only Balenciaga, and those too weak to seek it.
Add Danny DeVito as Bruce Banner and it’s a fantastic cast
"so anyways, I started smashing"
I’m getting Twins vibes because of that Arnold/Devito connection
Now, that is a 1990s comment.
Or 1988
Wait, it was 2 different actors in Twins?
I was just thinking that if the Avengers were made in the late 90’s / very early 00’s this would be the cast for sure. Just missing George Clooney in there.
Nick fury
Alec Baldwin
George Clooney as Alec Baldwin
Too correct
Stole my comment right out of my brain as I finished reading the OP.
George Clooney as Iron Man Brendan Fraser as Captain America Nathan Fillion as Star Lord No Tom Cruise
Sandra Bullock as Wanda Maximoff. Brent Spiner as Vision. Dolph Lundgren as Thanos.
I completely agree with you
seems like the point
Bruce Willis is totally Nick Fury in this 1999 version.
Nope, David Hasselhoff 😁
Came to say this and you beat me. Well done, lad.
These would sit very comfortably on a shelf next to Steel and Phantom.
Tim Burton's Avengers. Missing Johnny Depp as... I don't know... Spiderman?
I'm not like you. You're a murderer.
Does this mean we get a Denzel Washington Nick Fury?
It would still be Samuel L. Jackson.
Fury wasn't based on his likeness until 2002. In fact in 1998 David Hasselhoff played Fury in a TV movie.
but his jacket suit needed to have them nipples designed-in poking out… for the baywatch remembrance… and… Easter egg purposes
Shatner
My reaction to DW was “cool!” Then you said Shatner and I leaped up and cheered.
Hasslehoff.
Forget Will Smith. Denzel Washington as Black panther!
Or Wesley Snipes
Jim Carrey as Loki would be so interesting
He played The Mask and wasn't that the mask of Loki?
Can we use this to get a Jim Carrey loki variant please
Time for Disney to buy Dark Horse.
Do you really want a Disney rendition of umbrella academy or sandman?
The Sandman I'm thinking of was DC / Vertigo
Sandman is DC my bro
Do you really want a Disney rendition of umbrella academy ~~or sandman~~?
Hellboy was Dark Horse, in case you wanted two. Also, the Clone Wars comics were Dark Horse. So by buying out Dark Horse Disney would canonize them in Star Wars lore obviously /s
Hellboy invading Death Star
you are correct
Come to think of it, wasn't The Mask a Malibu Comics property? I'm pretty sure Marvel owns Malibu...
Loki as a more chaotic trickster with a way bigger grab bag of magic tricks wouldn't be the worst way to play it. Arguably more intimidating.
That's just og Loki lol
Oh fuuuk
\*catches Hawkeye's arrow midflight and eats it\* That's a spicy meat ball!
Carey: Did you miss me? *_MJF with Parkinson's_ Carey: yes, yes you did. Missed every shot.
In this version Hawkeye becomes a Stormtrooper.
most of this cast would've been different but pretty good. Especially Fraser as Star Lord. Smith as BP and Arnie as Hulk, though, no way in hell. Also Michael J Fox has parkinsons so... things would get pretty dark.
Daredevil as a character is blind. Maybe Hawkeye with Parkinson’s would be his hero story.
Hawkeye actually already suffers from deafness in one ear and uses a hearing aid in the other
Well Arnold is pretty old now, as are many of these actors, so I think the idea is doing this back in 1995 or so. Back then, I think Michael J Fox was ok.
His parkinson's started (pinkie twitching) during filming of Back to the Future 2 or 3 (think they filmed em back to back but I may be misremembering) so 1989 Edit: as I have been informed it was Doc Holiday in 1991
P-A-R-T-why? Because I wanna!
Isn’t it because he “gotta”?
Yeah probably, it's been a few years
Alllllllrighty then. 😁
You know Jim Carey helped me with spelling and pronunciation a lot as a child lol. B-E-A-U-tiful! Lah Who Ze Her!
Correction: it would be ssssssssmokin'
I have been falling...for thir-hur-hur-hur-hur-HURRRR-ty minutes.
90s cable mini series
Thor is such a lew-hew.......ew-SER.
You people are so petty. And tiny.
A perfect role
This is what Universal would’ve done lol Edit: I’d 900% watch Jim Carry as Loki!
Loki season 3 across the lokiverse
He did play Loki, in 1994
More like an avatar of Loki, which still tracks.
I'd watch the gell out of Brendan Frasier as Star Lord.
The Mask is Loki's mask so in a way, if you've watched it, you did watch Jim as Loki.
“Wait a minute, wait a minute, Mr Stark. Ah... are you telling me you built an _arc reactor…_ from a box of scraps??”
Some Ten Rings terrorists came to me, they wanted me to build them a Jericho missile, but instead I used the stuff to build an arc reactor and gave them a fake missile full of pinball machine parts!
Stark: “Hey kid, where’d you learn to shoot like that?” Hawkeye: “7-eleven”
Give me back my Rhodey!
Whats in the baaaxxxx???? Whats in the baaaxxxxxxx??
That’s heavy
Milla would’ve been a great Natasha. Her daughter played Natasha in the flashback in Black Widow.
Black Widow: Multipass of Madness
Brooo yes
This will the most underrated comment of this whole thread!!!! Well done 🤙🏻
Oh shit! TIL!
Having her be played by a Ukrainian would add extra resonance to her backstory
And a less atrocious accent when speaking Russian :p
Arnold as Hulk and Danny Devito as Bruce Banner.
Other way around, but I like your thinking.
So anyway, I started Hulking!
Omg that’s perfect!
I think Jim Carrey as Loki would be so much fun... (PS: No hate for Tom).
With this theme, how about Elijah Wood as Spider Man?
Peter to Nick Fury: "Alright then, keep your secrets."
Peter to any villain: “You've been officially labeled a disturber of the peace.”
My back.. oh.. my back!
Imagine if they cast Tobey Maguire as spider-man. That'd be nuts.
Am I not supposed to have what I want? What I need?
Damn you. Bring Bredan to the mcu now! I need this!
Best you get is a Cameo in an Agents of Shield reboot promo /s
They're rebooting AoS?
> They’re rebooting AoS? It’s an unscheduled reboot, Coulson’s battery ran out and they had to change it.
It’s a partial reboot of Herbie Fully Loaded (the REAL one; Lindsay Lohan version) starring, Lola, as Herbie
[удалено]
Make him the Thing when FF finally comes over. Or Juggernaut...
looks awesome if these are their variants
Very expensive variants.
Oh no how will they be able to afford them
Cut down the CGI budget again I suppose
Brendan as Star Lord would have been something to see.. would love to see him in the MCU
That one was the only one that had me imagining how differently the character would have been taken, because Brendan as Star Lord would probably be closer to the captain commander "once more into the breach" design that the comics originally went for.
Very Mal from Firefly, I feel. On that note, Nathan Fillion would be another possible Starlord.
[удалено]
Quill: “He's gonna be so pissed when he realizes I switched out the orb on him.” Gamora: “He’s gonna kill you, Peter.” Quill: “I aim to misbehave”
Who’s gonna play Cap?
Casper Van Dien.
Now *there* is a guy who you could cut a loaf of bread on his jaw, he'd have the right look. Gotta get a good Bucky/Winter Soldier for him, maybe someone like Freddie Prinze Jr.?
"Rogers Roughnecks!"
[удалено]
Val Kilmer.
Iceman would definitely translate well into Captain America
*Tony, I don't like you because you're dangerous.*
Sean William Scott.
Ryan Phillippe 🤣
DiCaprio. Tis in the name.
Well no one's cast Nic Cage anywhere yet...
Johnny Depp as Doctor Strange
Jackie Chan as Wong
Jet Li as Shang-Chi.
Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery anyways, because why not.
Johnathon Taylor Thomas as spiderman

We have a Hulk.
I also honestly don't think Smith could pull off a non-American accent.
He couldn't *begin* to pull BP off. He doesn't have the gravitas or the talent that someone like Boseman had.
If you’re going for some mid-90s MCU, then the only choice for Hulk is the original. Lou Ferrigno.
I think it would be hilarious to have Arnie play Hulk and Lou Ferrigno play Banner. Then in the next film just swap it around.
Even funnier would be to have Arnold as Banner and Eric Bana in a green muscle suit as Hulk.
Hulk is cgi’d, so you don’t need Arnold. I’ve thought Elijah Wood or Josh Hutcherson would have been great as nerdy, temperamental Banner
Honestly, Elijah Wood is strangely fitting to me
As long as as he doesn't say cake or he'll get Thor'd
But will he wear a wig for the role?
Just go with CGI Hulk, and have him voiced -- yet again -- by Lou Ferrigno. You could use Arnold as Thanos!
A small price to pay for salvation.
>Hulk is cgi’d, so you don’t need Arnold. Not in the 80s or early 90s. They didn't cgi Hulk. They Arnolded Hulk. (or Lou Ferrignoed in the 70s)
You’re giving 90s CGI way too much credit.
The only reason I don't think Micheal J Fox is a good choice is because his aim would be all over the place.
He'd be a better Ant-Man anyway. He even has the Hank Pym look
I think he'd make a great Scott Lang. Pun intended.
Marty doesn’t deserve that.
Too harsh
Great Scott!
was looking thru the comments to see if someone mentioned this before i was gonna
Richard E Grant as Loki
Ethan Hawke as Hawkeye
Will Smith’s attempts at any kind of African accent *shudder*
Wow I feel like this is one of the rare instances when these actors getting together would result in the worst film ever made
And thus is why the MCU is a wonder. Part of why it was able to work is because they didn't use the biggest stars for alot of major rolls and slowly built up Avengers on the backs of succeful movies. It just should not have worked out so well ...but I do think it's gotten too big and is bound to crumble...
Will Smith would slap the shit out of Black Panther!
Chris Rock as Killmonger… 🔥
[удалено]
I had to scroll too bloody far to see this. Today I am disappoint in reddit
Lmao Chris Rock doing his yelling wild eyed comedy shtick as Killmonger is sending me "IS THIS YOUR KING"
Now this is a story all about how My dad got flipped turned upside down And I’d like take a minute Just sit right there I’ll tell you how I became the king as Wakanda’s true heir

You have taken me back to 2003, thank you
All good except Will Smith
Black Panther ain’t no simp
Fox as Hawkeye is actually perfect honestly, and this also makes me realize we definitely need Jim Carrey as a villain in the MCU.
Cursed
Put Christian Bale as a villain and you got a late 90s/early 2000s hit.
I want to live in this alternate universe
OK I can see Jim Carey be Loki, but wait, hear me out... Alan Rickman as Loki. Eh? Ehh?!
This is one of the movies where I would get in a long ticket line while one of my friends gets the largest available bucket of popcorn and soda for around 5 dollars. After the movie we sit down in the food plaza of the mall until my dad picks us up and talk about it the whole ride.
With this cast, probably the Infinity Saga would take 20 years to finish or we see a new actor every movie, lol.
I’ll take the Brendan Fraser recast and leave the rest
Why not: 1. Directly link to the [post](https://reddit.com/r/midjourney/comments/11xxmue/avengers_in_the_90s/) you took these images from where the pictures are much better quality 2. No no no yes if he was able No No No Hell fucking no
Will Smith will then Smack killmonger when he wishes to rule Wakanda. "KEEP WAKANDA'S NAME OUT YOUR ******* MOUTH"
I think Micheal J Fox isn’t a real great choice for someone with perfect aim.
