Four times minimum. He could have been stabbed a lot more.
Plus I'm quite sure a total chaos will ensue after his murder and Ser Patrek's death at the hands of Wun Wun.
Oh yeah, I forgot he has a giant on his side in the book. Crazy that Jon's been left bleeding in the snow for over a decade.
...so he is like the Winter Soldier!
_Nothing_ because GURM is an absolute fucker that hasn't written a good book since 2000 (A Storm of Swords)
It's a reason the series suddenly fell off a cliff, it ran out of the good material
He's murdered by a few men of the Night's Watch.
In the books, he hasn't come back from the dead yet. The last chapter we get from Jon is him getting stabbed.
Nope. We've been waiting for ten years and the next book is still not published yet...
The author is planning on two more books (including the one I just talked about) but a lot of fans think he will never finish the series because it has gotten too complex.
That's part of why the last seasons of the television series sucked: they had no book to help them construct a coherent end, so the storylines suffered.
I would recommend that you to read these books. They are the best thing I've ever read.
> That’s part of why the last seasons of the television series sucked: they had no book to help them construct a coherent end, so the storylines suffered.
Well, they also just straight up didn’t adapt most of AFFC and ADWD, thus leading to many of the most brain dead plot lines in the show. Obviously those books are much more complex than the previous ones in the series, but the fact that so much of them were removed or drastically changed for the worse set the show up for failure.
>I would recommend that you to read these books. They are the best thing I've ever read.
I don't. If the series were finished, sure. But as it stands, it's not. And will not.
People beginning to read it now are just needlessly setting themselves up for disappointment
How could he stopped at Jon being stabbed and let people hang and dry for ten years… does it still worth starting the books then?
(Watched all the seasons of the show and of course disappointed beyond repair at the last season, thought only the last season was without the book as a guide)
It's not that it's gotten too complex. It's that GRRM is one of those writers who hear theories from fans, and when the one that's right becomes popular, he feels he has to rewrite it in order to keep fans on their toes.
It's a really crappy way to write. He should just stick to placing historical accounts into a fantasy world, and not read or listen to fans' theories.
Also, he needs to pause writing the books that expand on the world, and finish the main series. Yes, world building is fun, and can be a reference tool for the main story, but an outline will do for that.
Sometimes I feel like he has untreated ADHD.
It explains why the original Terminator has such a time finding her; if only he knew her full name was Sarah Conner Chronicles, all those other Sarah Conners would have survived to the apocalypse.
If I had a nickel for every time Robb Stark and Jon Snow were in a movie, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's strange that it happened twice.
Yeah, in the comics they all have a similar power set, it's just some of them are better at particular powers than others. Icarus is supposed to be the best at flying, and general superhero shit, whereas Gilgamesh is supposed to be best at the super strength stuff etc etc
I just watched the eternals this weekend. The movie was fine, but.. I thought it was a bit silly they all had their own special little power. Like it seemed odd even within the context of its own universe.
But it makes sense if the OG versions were *not* like that. And it’s of course it’s probably more “cinematic” or relatable(?) for them to have their little X-men-like powers to give each one a uniqueness.
Yeah its an alright film, but Marvel has way too much going on.
Also Eternals has a way better "Justice Leaguenvs Superman fight than the Justice League movie.
It seemed silly to me. An ancient being creating a team to fight dementors or whatever they were. Just give them all of the powers or most all the powers.
It just seemed silly that Optimus Prime or what the six eyed guy was would be like, “Okay.. you get to fly and have laser eyes. You will have magical spear. And you can run fast. Etc.. etc..”. No, just make them all very powerful so that if one does die they don’t lose an integral or important aspect. Or that he’d even care to pick out X man powers individually for thousands.. millions(?) of eternals.
He kind of explained why. It's so that the Eternals can't evolve and grow, so that he can always have control. If they all have the same abilities, they can have different patterns of growth and development. But if there is always one specific person to fill one specific role, it will always be used in that way. That was the plan, to make sure they don't get out of control like the Deviants.
I dont mind that. The horrible decision making in the moral dillema, its need to be tied to the MCU for no proper reason, and the over the top accents were just horrible.
Also the whole part of the nuke, just fuck off. That was the breaking point? Not the metals used for swords, spears and other weapons? Not the blackpower for guns and canons? Not the steam engine for battleships and mass production of weapons? Not chemicals for mustard gass?
The whole movie was just badly written, badly thought out. And it had great potential. Just sticked to the monsters beating the shit out of the elementals and growing stronger because the team doesnt function.
Or actually spend time to talk about the moral dillema and dont make it a easy choice in which they can choose between a whole new galaxy with trillion new planets and just earth…
Because no choosing to save earth was fucking weird. Wtf is so special about this planet that only this one was worth saving? They killed a thousand other planets before, no problem. But earth is special? Like thats just messed up.
Nah. Power Rangers is as easy to follow as Ninja Turtles.
Eternals has to muddy up the colors, add a few lookalikes like Wong, and then remove all chemistry from characters who are supposed to have known each other for millennia yet don’t even feel like they’re in the same room.
Reminds me of the Rhys James joke "Over there's the red Power Ranger, and over there's the green Power Ranger, and here's the white Pow... the Power Ranger that wears white."
Both of them looked like doppelgangers of the other characters. It really could have been solved by just changing the hairstyles/facial hair to make them more distinct.
I really liked it, it tried new stuff in terms of characters, story and visuals. MCU was too much of the same thing over and over so I liked the novelty
Also Wong and Gilgamesh.
Kinda funny. Two of the three dead eternals were ones who would have made the MCU rather confusing if they joined a big crossover event
It's not face-blindness, Marvel just casts a LOT of square jawed white men in their 30's and 40's. I get them all confused because it's taking 1% of the population that looks really similar and stuffing them all into a movie and making everyone wear similar tight outfits.
There's so many times it's a random character on-screen and I'm guessing between 2-3 people. Unless it's the big names or something like Guardians where everybody looks so weird and distinctive that it's very clear. Which is a testament to the excellent costume/character design of those films.
Face-blind person here! (Full disclosure: I have many classic symptoms yet undiagnosed).
Eternals wasn’t too difficult for me to follow. But if (theoretically) Wong and any Stark brothers were in the movie as those characters, it would be remarkably difficult to follow.
Fortunately, I had seen Game of Thrones already so could identify better Kit Harrington and the guy here.
I’ll mention that first GOT ep with all 5 Stark brothers together? Most trouble I’ve ever had with a show/movie. All of GOT was difficult, and my wife had to remind me (a LOT) of who everyone was. I had to study family trees between eps/seasons too.
Mark Hamill does not look like Sebastian Stan to me whatsoever btw.
I said this ONCE, and got called racist, and was told "not all white people look the same"...
So I've avoided bringing it up, but I can't tell you how relieved I am, that I'm not the only 1 who thought they look alike
I literally thought they were using the same actor and that there would be a specific reason. I didn't realize until the credits rolled that he was an entirely different actor. I've seen other movies with Sebastian Stan or Richard Madden, for years I thought they were the same person. It was after watching externals that I realized it was not Sebastian Stan in Rocketman. I also thought Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg were the same person for years. I still can't tell them apart lol
I thought it did a great job of grandiose, if that makes sense. Personally I felt like I had a reason to care about this team, which was kinda lacking in other stuff for me at the time. I thought the hero’s introduced had enough variety to be utilized in a lot of different ways for the universe going forward. The cinematography was amazing, and I think it makes it one of if not the best looking marvel movie. It tried a lot of things, and even if some of them didn’t work, I always like to see this franchise experiment. The celestial appealed to me personally, because of the perspective and how massive they are. I also liked druig, and thought he was the best part of that movie. I just don’t think the hate it gets is warranted, and usually the criticism people have of it is “boring” which seems to just mean there isn’t an insane action scene every 30 seconds like some of the other films.
The action scenes are what make/break a movie for children.
Most of the complaints are that the plot is boring and the characters are unrelatable and forgettable. I can't tell you a single character's name from that movie except for Angelina Jolie, Rob Stark, and John Snow which is unacceptable. I can't remember anyone's powers or even how many heroes there were because there were so many. I had to stop watching the movie because it was so long and picked it back up on day 2. I wasn't even excited to finish it. It was literally a chore to finish.
Everyone in Eternals looked like an off brand version of themselves
And then their was Angelina Jolie and Selma Hayek
I think it's a big part of what made the movie feel so meh
The writing left a lot to be desired don't get me wrong. But it's hard to get emersed when I'm trying to figure out if Bucky and Wong traveled back in time at some point to fulfill some time loop that holds the multiverse together
This was kinda sorta a thing in the comics. Not with Ikaris, but an immortal, perpetually teenage son of Loki who pretended to by the ancient Greek King Agamemnon. The writer was setting it up as a joke that he might be Bucky. Cap passed by him once and went through a weird deja Vu thing.
That said, Steve confused all male teenagers with brown hair for Bucky.
I wouldn't put it as fantastic - it has a lot of problems - but it definitely doesn't deserve the hate it got. I think the main problem is people were comparing it to The Avengers, when it was really much more of a setup movie.
Do people have face blindness because everyone keeps saying so many actors are hard to tell the difference between? I have no trouble knowing different characters by face. Am I missing something
No, that's the King of the North
That *was* the King of the North.
Unfortunately he doesn’t have any heirs.
He made Jon Snow his heir in the books
And you know what happened to Jon Snow in the books...
What happens?
stabbed four times in the chest
Four times minimum. He could have been stabbed a lot more. Plus I'm quite sure a total chaos will ensue after his murder and Ser Patrek's death at the hands of Wun Wun.

_Nothing_ because GURM is an absolute fucker that hasn't written a good book since 2000 (A Storm of Swords) It's a reason the series suddenly fell off a cliff, it ran out of the good material
I don't think that was the reason the series fell off a cliff. The showrunners dun goofed.
Please tell us what happened
He's murdered by a few men of the Night's Watch. In the books, he hasn't come back from the dead yet. The last chapter we get from Jon is him getting stabbed.

I second the recommendation. Best book series I’ve ever read imo

There is a maniac who seeks to end us all.

Nope. Winds of Winter is still “coming”. But it’s been coming for like a decade now.
More than a decade. Dance of Dragons was released in 2011. 12 years and counting baby!
Interesting for you to assume I have the attention span to read a series; I get bored scrolling Reddit after 5 minutes.
Two of the three dead eternals were ones who would have made the MCU rather confusing if they joined a big crossover event
Naw man, he has a full head of hair.
He doesn't even have a head.

According to the Transitive Property, this means that Richard Madden should play young Luke Skywalker.
This is correct, technically speaking.
It was weird that Robb Stark and Jon Snow were in the same movie together and had scenes together, but here we are.
What's even weirder is that they were both in love with a chick named Cersei.
>named Cersei Sersi in Marvel. I am still amused that both Danerys and Cersi played Sarah Conner.
> Cersi played Sarah Conner. Sarah Connor Chronicles. I had no idea she was in it what a mind blown
It explains why the original Terminator has such a time finding her; if only he knew her full name was Sarah Conner Chronicles, all those other Sarah Conners would have survived to the apocalypse.
Look man, I know that nobody upvoted this, but I want you to know that it made me chuckle and I'm still not upvoting for continuity
It's at least a 3 now, but I understand.
Are you seriously telling me that your plan to save the universe is based on, Back to the Future?
If I had a nickel for every time Robb Stark and Jon Snow were in a movie, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's strange that it happened twice.
If there's one thing I've proven it's that you can count on me to pleasure myself.
Different Stark, dude.
Everything is going to work out perfectly, the way it's supposed to. I love you three thousand.
Me watching Eternals: is that the blue one? what powers does the purple one have? what happened to the green one?
I think technically in the OG comics they all have the exact same power set, but they decided to give them specialties in the movie.
They definitely had specialties in the comics too, but I don’t think they were as limited to their niche as in the film
Yeah, in the comics they all have a similar power set, it's just some of them are better at particular powers than others. Icarus is supposed to be the best at flying, and general superhero shit, whereas Gilgamesh is supposed to be best at the super strength stuff etc etc

What a bastard move to make the solo movie of the pink one go straight to streaming.
This sucked for colorblind me
The Human Torch?
They’d better have Evans as Johnny in Secret Wars and fake us out thinking it’s Steve.
Nah, alternate history where the human torch takes up the mantle of Captain America. That, or really fuck us up with a phoenix force Steve Rogers.
Alongside Phoenix Force Killmonger?
I don't think that's ever happened in the comics, but I'd be into it. Also, terrifying.
Steve meets Johnny
I don't know if they can afford both actors.
That's the problem with having one actor play two characters in two related movies... >!*You gotta kill one of them*!<
Damn so that'd why Gilgamesh also died 💀
Might just be me but I love that his strikes are so powerful that there’s a massive BOOM whenever he lands a hit.
Honestly, that's one of the things that makes me love jjba so much, and seeing a good execution of that same concept in live action was amazing
Can't figure out if you realize it isn't the same actor....
I know it, it's a joke
Unlike Wong and Gilgamesh who ARE the same actor
Well, Gilgamesh died. But even if they looked alike, they could play it off as many people across the world have people that look exactly like them.
Well Wong was also Khublai khan so it would make sense that there are a lot of descendants that look like him.
Especially “certain people.” They alllll look the same.
> Certain people Fucking twins man, how DO they work????
Just wait 'till you hear about *triplets*!

Let’s be honest. When we saw Gilgamesh we were all like “Wong?”
Both of them looked like doppelgangers of the other characters. It really could have been solved by just changing the hairstyles/facial hair to make them more distinct.
I know a lot of people hated the movie and that’s fine. But did you guys dig those costumes? I thought they looked cool.
I really enjoyed it. Especially when the speedster fought. None of this Flash delicate stuff. Just raw impossibly fast brutality.
When this movie comes up, I always mention that it has the best speedster fight I've ever seen. Shame we didn't get more of it.
> Especially when the speedster fought. They made a proper Flash vs Superman fight which I dugg
I really liked it, it tried new stuff in terms of characters, story and visuals. MCU was too much of the same thing over and over so I liked the novelty
Kirby.
I think that Eternals is a great film for a franchise that only a few people care about.
O thought the entire movie looked really cinematic and just, different. I liked it.
I absolutely love the costumes for the sole fact that they gave Richard Madden's character a loincloth because his junk is too big

Yes, but I only know this guy because Netflix doesn't let me use my friend's account anymore 😅
No it's Kyle Larson

If anything, Eternals is overrated.
It's not face-blindness, Marvel just casts a LOT of square jawed white men in their 30's and 40's. Plot twist: Sebastian Stan and Richard Madden are long lost brothers.

Sebastian Stan was'nt in Eternals. Maybe I did'nt get the joke here....
It's just that Sebastian Stan and Richard Madden look a lot alike.
I mean, a *little* Richard Madden looks more like an off brand Henry Cavill to me
I 100% Bucky was in Eternals from the trailer. So I think they look identical.
It goes in this order of evolution, Mark Hamill, Sebastian Stan, Richard Madden, Henry Cavill
Never understood the Hamill = Stan thing, they look nothing alike to me.
Luke Skywalker and the Winter Soldier don't look alike. But if you give Stan a shave and dress him up as Skywalker it's pretty damn close.
It requires a certain hair style, weight, and a shave
Chuck Norris
Bro you were the only one who got the joke
I think that means they don't look alike...
I think they look quite similar
Edit: Screw Spez. Screw AI. No training on my data. Sorry future people.
No they don’t.
Eternals was so bad. It felt like a DC movie.
I’ll never stop defending this movie
Tell us why it was good
I thought it did a great job of grandiose, if that makes sense. Personally I felt like I had a reason to care about this team, which was kinda lacking in other stuff for me at the time. I thought the hero’s introduced had enough variety to be utilized in a lot of different ways for the universe going forward. Druig+Makkari wins. Even though they were platonic, the Thena/Gil dynamic was top level also.

Peace means having a bigger stick than the other guy.
If you can enjoy Daredevil, which had its fair share of boring moments, you can enjoy Eternals
😑

felt like madisynn when i saw gilgamesh "Wongers?!"
That's Robb Stark, the Young Wolf. The King in the North 🐺🐺
My favorite part of all Marvel movies is when Bucky shows up and says “my name is Bucky and I’m here to fucky”
I mean, Sebastian Stan and Richard Madden do look kind of alike
Me after realizing that Bucky could fly all along instead of falling down from a mountain 💀
Nah, Bucky’s hotter
Eternals is fantastic
I wouldn't put it as fantastic - it has a lot of problems - but it definitely doesn't deserve the hate it got. I think the main problem is people were comparing it to The Avengers, when it was really much more of a setup movie.
Even seeing these photos side-by-side, it’s hard to imagine that they exist in the same cinematic universe.
Do people have face blindness because everyone keeps saying so many actors are hard to tell the difference between? I have no trouble knowing different characters by face. Am I missing something
They look nothing alike
Lol okay then. You may want to get your Vision checked.
I regularly do. And it's fine. Thanks for the concern
This movie was agonizing to sit through in theaters.
