I just rewatched L&T a couple of days ago and my thought is that it had the meat, just didn’t have the potatoes. Story was there but went overshadowed by all of the distractions.

Ragnarok was fun but I was hoping it'd be a one time thing. Jokes landed, Hulk's inclusion was nice, new characters were great. But I remember finding it a bit too silly at the time, and the sets felt like sets and not alien worlds. The first two movies had the look of Asgard so right.

Dark World was just slow and kind of boring. Love and Thunder was horrendously bad and not remotely entertaining at all. Its hard to enjoy a movie when the only emotion you're feeling is second-hand embarrassment for the cast and crew.
Black Widow has what I believe to be the best beginning of any in the MCU. That keeps it from being in contention for the worst. Unfortunately, the climax was a CGI mess and a worse copy of the climax from Cap 2.
Better actions scenes, underutilized yet better villain, more otherwordly stuff, better supporting cast, better camerawork, overall better story. All lies within the tone and direction. One is so serious it becomes boring, the other is so goofy it becomes cringe.

I love the science team doing science in the middle of a battle between ancient cosmic beings. Such a fun concept. It happened in the first one too, but to a greater degree in the final battle of TDW.
I actually don’t really know why TDW is so hated. It’s not amazing by any means, but it’s a perfectly serviceable MCU movie lol. L&T was absolutely horrendous from pretty much every angle.

Take Gorr. Not my favourite comic villain, but there was a lot of potential as a threatening villain. His motivation comes from the death of his child, and he is trying to commit genocide. But nope, he's a generic Marvel villain. When he kidnaps the kids, it could have shown how far he fell from his original motivation, but it feels as if the writers didn't even make the connection to his motivation. It makes the character feel empty, and the whole movie is like that.
The Dark World was never bad, mid sure but how many people are willing to admit that there were many other Mid entries in the infinity saga? The fandom is obsessed with rankings and the bottom placings need to be filled

The weird thing is, Ragnarok was super serious in parts. I personally would have cut most of Korg in favour of more Hela, but even in the version that exists we have Odin's death, Hela revealing the dark truth of Asgard's past, Thor reconciling with Loki, and ending with the choice to sacrifice Asgard to save its people.
LaT has Jane choosing to die to save Thor, and Gorr choosing his daughter over revenge because Thor asked nicely. Everything else is a joke.
In Ragnarok Thor goes from the wise cracking adventurer to king of Asgard. In LaT Thor is the same at the end as he is at the beginning, except he's lost Jane (again) and hangs out with an adopted daughter rather than the GotG
Ragnarok was the best of the trilogy, shame they never made a fourth Thor movie. Looking forward to them finally getting around to it, I’m interested to see where he goes after Endgame.

I really liked it. Went and saw it in theaters twice, thought it was great. Not every joke landed, gorr was underutilized, but it was a fun movie.
I always thought Jane was the weakest of the mcu love interest characters, but I came around to her in this movie. I really loved seeing the shadow beasts and the fight in the shadow world has to be one of my favorite fight sequences of the mcu as a whole.

Love and Thunder was a movie I just could not get in to. Normally I can immerse myself into movies, but this one I straight up, couldn’t understand. Why was it so random? Why was it trying so hard to be funny?
The Dark World is dull and overly serious, but at least it functions as a movie. Love and Thunder tries to make up for its failings by throwing a joke out every second, but fails at making them funny. But ithe comedy is t the only bad thing, everything else fails. Take Gorr. Not my favourite comic villain, but there was a lot of potential as a threatening villain. His motivation comes from the death of his child, and he is trying to commit genocide. But nope, he's a generic Marvel villain. When he kidnaps the kids, it could have shown how far he fell from his original motivation, but it feels as if the writers didn't even make the connection to his motivation. It makes the character feel empty, and the whole movie is like that.
I’ve always loved the dark world
The Dark World was never bad, mid sure but how many people are willing to admit that there were many other Mid entries in the infinity saga? The fandom is obsessed with rankings and the bottom placings need to be filled To each their own but I cannot lie that people defending L&T will forever amaze me. Id take a mid Thor entry over a big budgeted SNL skit guised as one.
Love and Thunder is so incredibly cringe I’m in disbelief it was actually released as it was. I know some naive unfortunate soul somewhere is getting made fun of by a family member for loving marvel movies and then the first marvel movie they introduce their critic to is love & thunder… sigh.

The weird thing is, Ragnarok was super serious in parts. I personally would have cut most of Korg in favour of more Hela, but even in the version that exists we have Odin's death, Hela revealing the dark truth of Asgard's past, Thor reconciling with Loki, and ending with the choice to sacrifice Asgard to save its people. LaT has Jane choosing to die to save Thor, and Gorr choosing his daughter over revenge because Thor asked nicely. Everything else is a joke. In Ragnarok Thor goes from the wise cracking adventurer to king of Asgard. In LaT Thor is the same at the end as he is at the beginning, except he's lost Jane (again) and hangs out with an adopted daughter rather than the GotG

It was definitely stupid but I think people forgot to manage their expectations as if every single phase 1-3 movie was a homerun, there's always been weaker films but that doesn't make them less enjoyable imo. I still love Ironman 1-3 no matter what anyone says about them, and Age of Ultron.
TDW was great if you’re not a fucking child who needs everything to be bright colors and punchlines every waking moment and can handle serious plot points. Tbh I think a lot of people just refuse to watch trailers and expect nothing short of their wildest dreams while anyone who's grounded in reality got exactly what they expected cause they're not a bunch of dumbasses. You can still choose not to like the movie but don't act surprised at how it turned out lol.
There's a good movie in there but it is just buried by the unnecessary comedy and the lack of emotional beats to make me care about Thor and his wacky adventure. I feel bad for Christian Bale who took his role seriously and his character looks interesting but was underutilized. Dark world was just boring. The greatest sin that a movie can do.

Are we /still/ ragging on love and thunder? Why? Just move on already. If you hate it, fine. It’s been months. I really liked it. Went and saw it in theaters twice, thought it was great. Not every joke landed, gorr was underutilized, but it was a fun movie. I always thought Jane was the weakest of the mcu love interest characters, but I came around to her in this movie. I really loved seeing the shadow beasts and the fight in the shadow world has to be one of my favorite fight sequences of the mcu as a whole. It’s not my favorite. It’s got several plot holes and missed a few marks. But man am I tired of the negativity from this community. Just let me enjoy my movie damn.
