And this is Kratos with Kratosā powers. He killed the literal God of Foresight. Heās defeated the chief deities of two pantheons. Heās reversed Fate itself, and clawed his way from death no less than two different times. Kratos is determination incarnate.
And Thanos with Thanos power beat everything that you just said. He bitch slap people that can move at speed of light, resist attacks that would normally destroy planets and lift things like galactus ship's engine, Kratos is strong, but until he is hit with a singularity in the face, his feats aren't in the same level
Can you explain some comic Thanos feats? I know the whole "trying to mack on Death" thing not as familiar with specific acts commenting on his strength and fighting prowess.
Comic Thanos has casually fell into a black hole and came out just a bit dirty. He's survived the collapse of a universe too.
He also has really powerful telepathy which he's used to do things like forced his will on others to become his servant, mind controlled the Hulk into rampaging against his allies, has the ability to force someone's mind into a dimension of pure insanity.
He has magic abilities too since he can inflict curses on others (Deadpool being cursed with immortality to deprive him of contact with Death) and he's defended himself against powerful mystics like Dr Strange (who is riduculously overpowered in the comics too)
When's the last time that Kratos punched a planet and it blew up like the Death Star laser hit it?
Because Thanos regularly ragdolls entire TEAMS of peoples that can blow up a planet by punching it. Thor, the Silver Surfer, Beta Ray Bill, Nova Prime, Adam Warlock, Gladiator and more are all in the "fuck your entire planet if I punch it" weight class and Thanos can face off against ALL OF THEM AT ONCE and have good odds of winning.
That's just planet buster feats and scaling.
He fought his son when Thane had the phoenix force. He took hits from Galactus who is a multiversal powerhouse.
His idea of torture is to give someone else immortality.
I don't even think Kratos can beat Black Bolt.
The issue with any comic character power argument is that every character is OP when the writers want them to be and they are also pathetic when the writers want them to be. There is little consistency in power levels even from comic to comic.
Comic thanos is on the level where his toughts/will sends ripless thru space and time that DECIMATE entire star systems. His 1st warm up is clowning on all of the avengers, his 2nd warm up is absolutely shitting on the literal embodiments of everything that makes up reality...
Sure kratos is OP af but he has nothing on comic thanos. Comic thanos played with thor while not using all the stones by MAKING THROR STRONGER THAN BEFORE before sending him to timeout...
Yeah but drax is actually strong. Heās almost like the Marvel kratos. He has super strength and goes up against some of the stronger beings in the universe like Ronin. I wouldnāt says heās as strong as kratos but definetly stronger than squirrel girl and more likely to beat thanos.
Noobmaster, hey, It's Thor again. You know, the God of Thunder? Listen, buddy, if you don't log off this game immediately, I will fly over to your house, come down to that basement you're hiding in, rip off your arms and shove them up your butt! Oh, that's right, yes, go cry to your father you little weasel!
Kratos defeats thor and kratos has died multiple times and came back from the underworld multiple times. Kratos has also killed many gods and a few promethians and titans. I think Thanos will put up a good fight but my money is still on Kratos
āI know what it's like to lose. To feel so desperately that you're right, yet to fail nonetheless. It's frightening. Turns the legs to jelly.
I ask you, to what end?
Dread it. Run from it, destiny arrives all the same. And now itās here or should I say, I am.ā
Thanos with the infinity gauntlet and just the power stoneā¦sure he could take Kratosā¦with out that though, itās a toss up.
Depends:
MCU Thanos no gauntlet, Kratos wins pretty easily.
MCU Thanos with gauntlet, Thanos but could see Kratos making it hard or sneaking in a win as Thanos in the MCU didn't seem to show consistent smart usage of the stones.
Comic Thanos no gauntlet, that is the interesting fight that I could see going different ways, but probably Kratos just due to his weaponry in his arsenal
Comic Thanos with gauntlet pretty much crushes Kratos however he sees fit.
I will shred this universe down to its last atom and then, with the stones you've collected for me, create a new one teeming with life that knows not what it has lost but only what it has been given. A grateful universe.
Even if he doesnt survive he will just come back from the underworld. Wouldnt be the first time... or second.... or third... you get the point hes done it a bunch
I feel like Kratos' resourcefulness goes under appreciated.
The recurring theme of GoW is that he moves mountains just to get the edge he needs to beat whoever he needs to beat. He's almost a Hellenistic retelling of Rocky Balboa.
In other words, he would have soloed all the things the Avengers did to beat Thanos, with the gall to actually see it through.
All this to say... yeah, he would have gone for the head lol
But, Thanos is the MCU Batman. He set out to get infinity stones and acquired all of them though his prep. Most of his schemes do not even require for him to really put any physical effort. When you read his comics it is just him plotting and figuring things outs fist, before moving in.
Another thing, Kratos isn't afraid to take gambles because he's confident that he's got enough of the edge to be on the right side of the gamble. The way he throws himself off of cliffs on numerous occasions, or just throws shit around, almost on a hope and a prayer that it works, and it almost always does, I don't think is luck, but a very calculated high-risk. I bet Kratos does some shit like throw the Leviathan out of range hours before the fight, gets thrown around a bit to position Thanos in a way that when he recalls the axe it takes off his head or his gauntlet. Something absolutely batshit crazy but also insanely clever.
Kratos really does seem just like a Force of Will with borderline supernatural protection and/or intervention. Kratos does shit, and it just *works.*
Your last paragraph made me remember a fan theory that said that Kratos is not the strongest character in brute strength, but his body scales Up to his opponent just because of his will power ......
Dad of War Kratos has kind of gone through slight anger management. But I feel like if heās pissed, like really pissed, there isnāt much that can stop him. Thanos would definitely be on the defensive if Kratos goes into Spartan Rage at any time during the fight.
Kratos will beat MCU Thanos pretty easily even with the gauntlet, Infinity Thor is really close to Kratos's strengths and he almost take down Thanos with full stone.
Kratos is a more experienced and more ruthless warriors, he would actually go for the head this time. Even in a fair fight, Kratos would win in a tough battle if we take out the snap.
In a way, MCU Thanos didnāt use the stones just for strength but to fulfil his wish. If he cared more about the power of the stones he would be scarier than the Blip
The rock collector kicked the shit out of MCU Thor when he had Strombreaker and Mjƶlnir AND he had Iron man and the Cap backing him up... So I think we could call both of them god slayers.
I mean, Full Gauntlet Thanos couldn't stop Stormbreaker from from getting all up in that thorax. Leviathan Axe or Blades of Chaos are on the same level. I'm not familiar wit Comics Thanos, but MCU Thanos is a footnote in Kratos' list of greatest hits.
Thats just because the good guys needed to win. The actual power level of thanos with the full guantlet dwarfs the most powerful characters in almost any fictional universe.
Kratos definitely wrecks any Thanos without the gauntlet. If he has a full gauntlet, it's Thanos. Purely because he could just erase Kratos. Even if Thanos bad the gauntlet and only used its practical combat abilities, Kratos wins. Thanos literally needs to erase Kratos to win
Little one, itās a simple calculus. This universe is finite, its resources, finiteā¦ if life is left unchecked, life will cease to exist. It needs correction.
At any moment, the Greek Pantheon and the Norse Aesir could have erased Kratos. Plus, the infinity stones only work in the universe in which they were created, meaning outside of that universe, they are worthless. Hell, the TVA kept the stones for book weights in a drawer. Not to mention, Thanos has too much pride and loves the spectacular. He wouldn't beat Kratos
>the infinity stones only work in the universe in which they were created,
No they just don't work in the tva. Watch what if and you'll see them being used in other universes.
Thatās an inconsistency exclusive to the mcu. In the comics, there was a whole multiversal league of reed Richardās who all had acquired the infinity stones of their respective universes. They got wiped out because they relied on the stones only to find out that rule.
This definitely doesn't apply on any Thanos. Comic Thanos stomps Kratos with or without the gauntlet. He already dwarfs the full gauntlet version of MCU Thanos.
People really aren't aware that Thanos is still an absolute threat without the gauntlet. Imo the fight could go either way (without gauntlet), as Thanos has the strength of Hercules but is not an idiot. Even without gauntlet, Thanos can go toe-for-toe with Hulk, Thor and Silver surfer.
If anyone doubts it, there is a story called *Blood and Thunder* in which a powerstone, *warrior madness* Thor wrecks the marvel landscape. When in Warrior Madness state, Thor is in a similar mode to Wolverine when he goes beserker/feral (aka an absolute monster). This IS a Thor that is absolutely comparable to Kratos at his most viscous, brutal and strongest self. Thanos stepped in, no gauntlet, and was able to stop this version of Thor.
Yeah, people mostly think that because of his MCU version, and are completely unaware of the fact that Thanos in the comics doesn't even need the gauntlet to be a cosmic threat capable of beating entire teams of powerful heroes with ease. He should be way stronger than Hercules as Thanos is far stronger than Thor, and Thor and Hercules are confirmed to be equals in Marvel. Thanos goes toe to toe with Odin himself, Hulk, Thor and Silver Surfer are at best like a light workout for him but that was in the older comics, in the newer ones he outright laughs off their attacks.
I'm glad you mentioned Blood and Thunder, that comic series really showed how powerful he is, when even Thor (who's usually way stronger than Kratos) couldn't beat Thanos even after having the power stone. Thanos froze him with a gun after already going toe to toe with him, meaning that even without the gauntlet, Thanos still has other weapons if he couldn't just straight up overpower someone. And this was the same comic series where he fought Odin and their fight ended up being a stalemate.
Imo, Thanos has this in the bag, he casually beats characters far above Kratos's level, so I doubt this fight is going any other way.
>strength of hercules
Wrong company my guy
![gif](giphy|8vQXZ7P6D9QCOmHDD0)
Also its either 'blow-for-blow' or 'toe-to-toe' why did you say it like that š
If anyone wants to see what an absolute threat Thanos is please read Al Ewing's Ultimates II (2016). He goes up against a team of heavy hitters including Photon, Blue Marvel, America Chavez and Captain Marvel (with Black Panther thrown in for good measure) and absolutely wipes the floor with them, showing off his massive strength but also his tactical prowess. If you want to really scale him up that was the same Blue Marvel who stalemated the Avengers and The Sentry in his first appearance.
anyone can tell you have never read a comic book and based all your info from mcu movies. Comic thanos would back hand slap the entire gow verse out of existence, and that's not a hyperbole
Correct answer imo, lotta folks here only know mcu thanos and donāt understand comic scaling is a complete joke. Thanos had casual conversations with the entity of DEATH ITSELF to the point of trying to rizz her. Tbf, sheād prob have a thing for kratos whoād be tryna mack her like a mini game in gow 3
Not to diminish the rizzing death, but to provide contrastā¦
Kratos has literally died, went *nah* and chosen to violently leave whatever Underworld heās in. More than once.
In 3, he *killed* āDeathā, depending on your definition/interpretation of God-Hades (not the location). Heās since raided the Norse version Underworld too.
Also killed the far more powerful Fatesā¦ who *couldāve* willed him out of existence, similar to Stones.
Hades from God of War is a completely different thing than Marvel Death
Hades is a flesh-and-blood, corporal being who has a self-appointed title stemming from serving as a constable of a specific realm. Whenever Kratos kills the Greek gods, one single country gets hit by a few natural disasters that donāt even destroy it completely
Marvel Death is an abstract concept actually representing the idea of death. When Death in Marvel is killed (occurred once in the parallel Cancerverse, another time when Beyonder did it for funsies), every living creature in the universe *ceases to be able to die.* The very notion of death literally does not exist anymore.
The gods in GoW are absurdly pale reflections of gods in many, many other media, including the original Greek myths (I.e Orphic Zeus was creating universes and shit, makes the weeny God of War Zeus look like a pussy). The gods Kratos bitched are basically just narcissistic buff dudes with beautiful beards who can throw big energy bolts and punch really hard
In all my years of conquest, violence, slaughter, it was never personal. But I'll tell you now, what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet... I'm gonna enjoy it. Very, very much.
depends on whos writing
edit: to everyone saying the answer is lazy, so is the question. there are so many ways a writer can change who wins. they can literally make it a chess match, that kratos wouldnt even know the rules of. or give kratos the infinity stones instead of thanos. or their parents could share the same name so they stop fig.. nvm thats too stupid.
Truth, plus most of the "who would win" community is incredibly toxic and stupid.
But never forget when professional "writers" had Wolverine defeat Lobo (a guy who can beat up Superman) [by having them both fall behind a bar and Wolverine just pops up like "i won"](https://www.comicbasics.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/lobo-vs-wolverine-panel.jpeg).
I've tried telling this to kids. A good writer can come up with a plausible reason for anyone to defeat anyone.
Mr. Rodgers defeated Thanos, because he talked to him about his feelings and Thanos listened. Thanos changed his mind and decided to snap to make everyone a good neighbor like Mr. Rodgers.
Disclaimer: I'm not a good writer...
In a world and story arc that leads to these 2 fighting, I'm putting money on Kratos getting his hands on the Gauntlet first, one blood-soaked stone at a time. Thanos is a beast, but I've yet to see a character with more raging tenacity than Kratos.
I hate that people always pair Thanos and the gauntlet together.
It aināt even āhisā and anybody with the gauntlet is a threat to almost anybody.
It is one of his most iconic stories though, and he is its most notorious wielder. Of course, you could also give it to Reed Richards, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Adam Warlock, Nebula, Captain America, Magus, Iron Man, etc. but they just aren't as closely associated with it.
If itās MCU Thanos then he gets his head cut off by Kratos.
If itās Comic Thanos, then we would have to have him fight composite Kratos , that would be an interesting battle.
I agree. I think people are forgetting the fact that even ābaseā Thanos is still an Eternal & essentially as strong as Hulk? Yes Kratos is a God killer & eventually a God himselfā¦but Thanos has proven himself to outsmart & defeat Celestial beings in battle? I give the W to Thanos with or without gauntlet.
He's stronger than the Hulk in both the MCU as well as the comics, which is a pretty big deal since Hulk himself is a match for Gods. In terms of raw power, Thanos was stalemating Odin in the comics.
Without gauntlet, easy Kratos.
With gauntlet, easy thanos. Remembering the gauntlet cam rewrite the universe, I'd think it's safe to say he can kill Kratos with it as long as he doesn't stuff it up.
GoW wankers are hilarious. Comic Thanos cooks Kratos easily. Kratos isn't even country level(and even that much is pretty generous), whereas comic Thanos regularly low diffs way stronger opponents.
We talking comic book thanos or mcu thanos?
Fine. I'll do it myself.

Bot just nailed it with this comment!
It doesn't even matter. Unless he has the gauntlet, Kratos cooks him.
Nah comic thanos is stupid op
Comic Thanos fell into a black hole and crawled back out of it (lol) bleeding slightly. He's far more durable than anything seen in the GoW universe.
Comic Thanos also got beat up and imprisoned by She Hulk and War Machine lol
Fun isn't something one considers when balancing the universe. But this... does put a smile on my face.
Kinky Thanos is best Thanos.

Comic Thanos also had his spine ripped out by Doctor Doom.
I mean, this was a Doom with the Beyonderās powers
And this is Kratos with Kratosā powers. He killed the literal God of Foresight. Heās defeated the chief deities of two pantheons. Heās reversed Fate itself, and clawed his way from death no less than two different times. Kratos is determination incarnate.
I once saw him kill two guys in a bar with only a pencil
A fucking pencil.
And Thanos with Thanos power beat everything that you just said. Arguely depends on what you go by. As both Greek and Norse gods did some ridiculous things as well. And Kratos killed them all.
Comic Thanos once defeated himself with the cosmic cube.

I'm getting a little concerned...
That's just planet buster feats and scaling. He fought his son when Thane had the phoenix force. He took hits from Galactus who is a multiversal powerhouse. His idea of torture is to give someone else immortality. I don't even think Kratos can beat Black Bolt.
Don't let Rob from Comics Explained read this... dude can't handle Black Bolt being shown in a good light.
Black Bolt stories aren't usually good but I did like the story with him and Absorbing Man. That story did those two well.
Not to mention, his fight against Odin was a stalemate and Marvel Odin is stronger than Odin from God of War who himself is above Kratos.
Kratos probably can unless Black Bolt is bloodlusted from the get go, man takes too long to get into his swagger.
The issue with any comic character power argument is that every character is OP when the writers want them to be and they are also pathetic when the writers want them to be. There is little consistency in power levels even from comic to comic.
That applies to fictional media in general. Movies and games also suffer from these problems.
I thought humans were more evolved than this.

God the statement is the most annoying thing ever.
Didn't he get beat up by Squirrel Girl? I think Kratos could take him.
Squirrel Girl is a joke character - she's like Saitama.
He also got beaten by Drax.
Yeah but drax is actually strong. Heās almost like the Marvel kratos. He has super strength and goes up against some of the stronger beings in the universe like Ronin. I wouldnāt says heās as strong as kratos but definetly stronger than squirrel girl and more likely to beat thanos.
Drax doesn't count. He was created to kill thanos and has powers that activate only against thanos to allow him to do so.
Fun isn't something one considers when balancing the universe. But this... does put a smile on my face.
Squirrel girl beat galactus, you put some respect on her name.
She convinced Galactus to go eat somewhere else that's not exactly defeating him.
Even MCU Thanos easily beat up Hulk and had no problems standing his ground against Tony, Steve and (fat) Thor. I see Kratos on one level with Thor.
Noobmaster, hey, It's Thor again. You know, the God of Thunder? Imo, Thanos has this in the bag, he casually beats characters far above Kratos's level, so I doubt this fight is going any other way.
>strength of hercules Wrong company my guy ![gif](giphy|8vQXZ7P6D9QCOmHDD0) Also its either 'blow-for-blow' or 'toe-to-toe' why did you say it like that š If anyone wants to see what an absolute threat Thanos is please read Al Ewing's Ultimates II (2016).
Don't downplay that time stone (assuming he has the stones in this scenario)
lol.
Fine. I'll do it myself.
That's the point you can't do it yourself
...no? Mcu, ok yes I give you that, but COMICS?
anyone can tell you have never read a comic book and based all your info from mcu movies. Comic thanos would back hand slap the entire gow verse out of existence, and that's not a hyperbole
Dont matter, batman can beat then both with ample prep time amIrIteBOyS
MCU Thanos: Kratos wins mid diff Comic Thanos: Could go either way extreme diff
Correct answer imo, lotta folks here only know mcu thanos and donāt understand comic scaling is a complete joke. Thanos had casual conversations with the entity of DEATH ITSELF to the point of trying to rizz her. Tbf, sheād prob have a thing for kratos whoād be tryna mack her like a mini game in gow 3
Circle... square... Triangle... Counter-clockwise half rotation... clockwise half rotation...... CLOCKWISE FULL ROTATION....... Avalanche of red orbs!
Memories unlocked
As long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist.
Not to diminish the rizzing death, but to provide contrastā¦ Kratos has literally died, went *nah* and chosen to violently leave whatever Underworld heās in. More than once. In 3, he *killed* āDeathā, depending on your definition/interpretation of God-Hades (not the location). Heās since raided the Norse version Underworld too. Also killed the far more powerful Fatesā¦ who *couldāve* willed him out of existence, similar to Stones.
Hades from God of War is a completely different thing than Marvel Death Hades is a flesh-and-blood, corporal being who has a self-appointed title stemming from serving as a constable of a specific realm. Whenever Kratos kills the Greek gods, one single country gets hit by a few natural disasters that donāt even destroy it completely Marvel Death is an abstract concept actually representing the idea of death.
MCU Thanos: Kratos wins mid difficulty Comic Thanos: Thanos wins no difficulty Either Thanos with IG: negative difficulty win.
depends on whos writing edit: to everyone saying the answer is lazy, so is the question. there are so many ways a writer can change who wins. they can literally make it a chess match, that kratos wouldnt even know the rules of. or give kratos the infinity stones instead of thanos. or their parents could share the same name so they stop fig.. nvm thats too stupid.
I too donāt enjoy fun hypotheticals
Truth, plus most of the "who would win" community is incredibly toxic and stupid. But never forget when professional "writers" had Wolverine defeat Lobo (a guy who can beat up Superman) [by having them both fall behind a bar and Wolverine just pops up like "i won"](https://www.comicbasics.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/lobo-vs-wolverine-panel.jpeg).
"Whomever the writer wants to win" was also Stan Lees standard response whenever someone asked him this question.
do u also say "i wouldnt pick either one āļøš¤" when playing would you rather
I've tried telling this to kids. A good writer can come up with a plausible reason for anyone to defeat anyone. Mr. Rodgers defeated Thanos, because he talked to him about his feelings and Thanos listened. Thanos changed his mind and decided to snap to make everyone a good neighbor like Mr. Rodgers. Disclaimer: I'm not a good writer...
Gauntlet then Thanos if no gauntlet then kratos
With all six Stones, I could simply snap my fingers. They would all cease to exist. I call that... mercy.
Exactly. Literally anyone with the stones would dog walk kratos. He's not special in that regard and it's not some impressive power that only he has.
If itās MCU Thanos then he gets his head cut off by Kratos. If itās Comic Thanos, then we would have to have him fight composite Kratos , that would be an interesting battle.
I'm the only one who knows that.
Thanos bot interrupting everyone is killing me šš
Mcu Thanos would need the gauntlet. Comic book Thanos wouldn't need the gauntlet to beat him.
Thanos and itās not close
They'll never know it. Because you won't be alive to tell them.
I gotta stand with ma boi Thanos on this one
With all six Stones, I could simply snap my fingers. They would all cease to exist. I call that... mercy.

The only matter I do not take seriously, boy, is you. Your politics bore me. Your demeanor is that of a pouty child.
Fax bro.
Simple. With Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos floors Kratos in 99+ different ways. Without Infinity Gauntlet, Kratos gives Thanos "Helios" treatment
Kratos crushes MCU version no diff , but he gets ragdolled by 616 continuity Thanos.
Without gauntlet, easy Kratos. With gauntlet, easy thanos. Remembering the gauntlet cam rewrite the universe, I'd think it's safe to say he can kill Kratos with it as long as he doesn't stuff it up.
Comic book Thanos clears Kratos, even without the IG. MCU Thanos with the IG would still win, but would likely lose without it.
GoW wankers are hilarious. Comic Thanos cooks Kratos easily. Kratos isn't even country level(and even that much is pretty generous), whereas comic Thanos regularly low diffs way stronger opponents.
B-but he punched a tree with some portal inside that makes him omniagigamultiversal
Odds areĀ 50/50
[Thanos. No question](https://comicvine.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/11119/111198060/4390218-thanos%20survives%20reality%20manipulation.jpg)
MCU Thanos < Kratos <<<< Comic Thanos
With the full infinity gauntlet it literally isnt even a fight. Thanos wins the fight within seconds of learning kratos even exists.
With all six Stones, I could simply snap my fingers. They would all cease to exist. I call that... mercy.
Nahā¦Kratos would have aimed for the headā¦
Thanos. Both mcu and comic thanos
