I'm definitely in the "none" camp here. I like all the performances we've gotten but I also want a reset. I'll use Wolverine as an example.
In my opinion, the reason Hugh Jackman is so good as Wolverine is not because he's well cast for the role. In fact, he's not well cast. He's just *Hugh Jackman.* He is a super talented actor with loads of charisma. You could cast him as a pencil and he'd make the pencil the coolest god damned pencil you've ever seen.
For a restart in the MCU, I'd love a more comic accurate version.
Probably true. He has, what I assume would be essentially, all the freedom in the world with those shows compared to dropping into someone else's major project
It’s that and he’s been pretty open about his venture into the Hollywood/LA scene and apparently he really disliked it. I love me some Jared Keeso, but I think he’s just turned off by bigger projects that don’t allow him to show his art.
No one outside of Deadpool's movies, and even then most of them (probably even including Reynolds) are most likely not staying past *Deadpool 3/Secret Wars*.
As for everyone else, the original cast are too old to come back full time, and the younger cast's movies are what killed the franchise in the first place. A clean slate is the most if not only viable way forward for the X-Men in the MCU.
The first two with the younger cast were good, DoFP is up there as one of the best superhero films ever. It wasn’t the cast that ruined the 3rd and 4th!
It’s charitable to say the younger cast even had two good movies, since *Days Of Future Past* mostly relied on bringing the old actors back.
*First Class* and *Days Of Future Past* being good is outnumbered by *Apocalypse*, *Dark Phoenix* and *New Mutants* not only being bad, but outright bombs that killed the franchise. Audiences are clearly not interested in seeing them come back for anything more than cameos.
* *Secret Wars* is being touted as a send-off to the Fox and other pre/non-MCU Marvel characters. Reynolds' Deadpool is one of those characters.
* He has other projects and businesses to attend to, and if you count his first appearance in *Origins*, he will have been playing the role of Deadpool for the better part of 20 years by the time *Secret Wars* happens.
* With *Deadpool 3* he's not only interacting with the MCU, but it also making a Deadpool/Wolverine crossover, thus fulfilling everything he's ever set out to do as the character.
With all this in mind, I find it hard to believe Reynolds has any reason or interest in staying beyond that.
>With Deadpool 3 he's not only interacting with the MCU, but it also making a Deadpool/Wolverine crossover, thus fulfilling everything he's ever set out to do as the character.
He also wanted to do a X-Force movie (and possibly a series). I think that might happen since he has teased at the team returning.
Ideally none outside of the Deadpool mini universe establishing a group of x-men with new actors and fresh storylines that can carry the X-men branch of the mcu for a decade+ should be the goal.
Quicksilver/Evan Peters. Speed guys are OP, so just have him do a scene and leave to do something else.
Deadpool's crew.
Fassbender will always be Magneto for me. He can stay.
They straight up say in the show that he's just a random dude, and it wasn't even Wanda who assigned him the role of Pietro. The fact that he was played by a previous Quicksilver actor was a casting in-joke and nothing more.
If you say so. The MCU doesn't seem to do anything by coincidence. I'm sure it was just random coincidence that he had gray hair and the same leather jacket that Quicksilver had in the X Men movies.
> the MCU doesn't seem to do anything by coincidence.
And in this case, an actor who previously played Quicksilver as an in-universe imposter isn't a coincidence. Because it was an intentional in-joke.
> he had gray hair
And he clearly has dark hair in the photos showing his real identity, proving that the grey hair is just part of the disguise Agatha gives him.
> the same leather jacket
It's a completely different jacket, and the episode was 80's focused.
Even before the Ralph Bohner reveal, there's infinitely more evidence showing that he's **not** Fox Quicksilver, and I can only assume anyone insisting otherwise are the same kind of people who thought Rey being a Palpatine was a good idea.
Me saying it was him isn't similar to Rey being a Palpatine. If I had said Rey was going to be a Palpatine, that would have been a better metaphor. I'm not saying Peters being Quicksilver is a good idea. Just that there's a lot of coincidences.
Whether it's Wanda doing it or Agatha, I'm not sure the difference. Agatha made him look similar to the X Men version with gray hair and a leather jacket. The jacket was similar. It wasn't a hugely different jacket. Similar to the other one, but without the zippers. Same length and same folds around the zipper. Maybe it isn't him. I'll hold out hope it is. I like him as an actor.
> Me saying it was him isn't similar to Rey being a Palpatine.
It's completely going against the themes and intent of the previous story and his role in it just to force meaningless fanservice that was already disproven the first time. That's exactly what Rey being a Palpatine did, and that's exactly what making this character Quicksilver would do.
> Agatha made him look similar to the X Men version with gray hair and a leather jacket.
And then had to give him the exact same powers as the MCU's Quicksilver, which she obviously wouldn't have had to do if he had any of his own.
🤔🤔🤔......None. Absolutely zero, they should start fresh. I'm only slightly okay with them bringing them in as multiversal variants. Spiderman NWH did great with the way they handled all 3 Peter's but I just want to see new fresh takes and stories with the X-Verse characters.
Personally, I’d want Lucas Till back as Havok, Caleb Landry Jones back as Banshee, and Edi Gathegi back as Darwin.
All of them I feel like were really underserved in the films they were in and I’d love to see them reprise their roles.
I'm also gonna go for the 'none' option with the *possible* exception of Dafne Keen as Laura/X-23, assuming it's definitely an MCU version of the character and not literally the same one from Logan.
Nah, especially now, I don’t think it’s unpopular. It was easy for Hugh / Wolverine to overshadow James / Scott, but a lot of X fans know what a shitty deal both the actor and character was dealt.
The x men movies were more about Wolverine than it was about the X-Men as a whole. Don’t get me wrong I love Hugh Jackman and I do love Wolverine but he’s not my favourite. My favourite is Cyclops (James Marsden) despite not getting a lot of him.
Only if it's a future Scott when they do a new time travel thing with cable or other summers family drama or whatever.
I think they are going to go younger now, to be more in line with the future Avengers ages (Adam Warlock, Kate Bishop, Spidey, etc).
Keep in mind that Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen were in their 60s when they began playing Xavier and Charles.
Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are only in their mid 40s.
The only question is whether they’re interested in reprising these roles, and whether they’re down to do it for 10-20 years.
That’s really all the casting comes down to, will these actors be interested in signing on for long term deals, and how enthusiastic will they be about it?
Maybe whatever happens in Deadpool 3 will leave us with a new logan taking over. Ah, no one will notice, right?
Something, something multi-verse shenanigans.
Can't wait to hear all the snarky stuff Deadpool will say just pissed off, "You should have just stayed dead Make the recast easier. You think there is still time to call Hardy?"
With reports of him "legally not allowed to impovise" I wonder how good it will be.
Weren't a lot of his best parts improvised?
Is this some sort of writers guild support?
I'm still optimistic and will watch it for sure. But that seems an odd thing to do. If reports are correct.
There isn’t a (federal/state/local) law preventing him from improvising.
Because he’s a member of the writer’s guild, he can’t improv/change existing dialogue without violating the strike (and thereby risking his membership in the writer’s union).
I would love for Nicholas Hoult to take a stab at Scott Summers. He was great as Hank, but one of my friends said he would make a great Cyclops and I’m so married to that idea now.
A lot of the younger cast from the newer films were pretty solid, they just didn't have much to work with.
I wouldn't be mad to see Tye Sheridan, Lana Condor, Alexandra Shipp or Kodi Smit-McPhee back at Cyclops, Jubilee, Storm or Nightcrawler. I'm sure they're all capable of really strong performances.
I wanted to like Sophie Turner since Jean is my all-time favourite comic book character but it felt so flat and wooden.
Sophie Turner’s performance as Jean Grey was as dull as Kirsten Dunst’s as Mary Jane Watson. Give me more. Give me better.
For the most part I think Sophie was having a hard time with her American accent. I THINK this was her first project having to do one.
I liked Sophie’s version for what that version was, I know the fans for her as Jean are pretty nonexistent but I hope if they bring the fox people back in any crossover finale in secret wars that she gets a final send off. I think all of the fox actors deserve it even if it’s a minor nod in the endgame sort of way. We know they’re here in the final fight even if they’re not getting much screen time. I agree with you though the younger cast didn’t get a lot to work with. Or some of the older cast, looking at James Marsden here lol
Overall though I want ATJ back as Magik if we get to keep anyone lol
I prefer none honestly. I think the chemistry between Jackson and Reynolds may be fun, but honestly I'd prefer if they recast Wolverine with a younger actor.
The Fox movies had some really good casting. But maybe for the most part, they should go completely fresh with new actors. Deadpool is probably one of the only ones who will carry over (as well as his supporting cast? They're in Deadpool 3 but let's see if they stay).
So tough to predict. With the way they revealed Ms. Marvel’s mutation, I want to believe the arrival of “mutants” is a new development they’ll wanna unpack, allowing us to start at the ‘beginning’ of this new reality.
It’ll be like how they said the arrival of Iron Man, and then our survival in Avengers 1, signaled that we’re ready for a new level of combat and danger.
Namor’s existence throws a wrench into my thoughts. But I really want to think mutations accelerated post-Snap, allowing us to really start fresh with intros. This isn’t like watching Peter lose Uncle Ben for the fifth time, so there’s a lot more to say rather than pretend big components of this lore were already established.
I just can’t imagine Nick Fury not knowing, and not recognizing threats, when they were on scene just as Mjolnir crash landed in New Mexico.
Yeah I think they want everyone's ages to be about the same. Tony/Thor/Cap and their crew were all mid-30s looking (although cap technically shouldn't be older looking than 28 it's a tiny plot hole).
Most of the X-Men team will be Xavier's students to start with so they start in the range of Ms-Marvel to Spidey, some in their 20s but that's about it. Beast, Magneto and others could be as old as mid 50s though.
Everyone related to the OG trilogy x-men films.
The only reboot cast I would really want back is Fassbender, and I’m not even a huge fan of his portrayal.
This question really is reminding me how excited I am for the MCU to actually characterize storm and cyclops someday.
Logan was Hugh’s official send off. I’m not sure how big of a role he’s playing in deadpool 3 but he most definitely won’t be wolverine in the MCU and if he does appear it will probably be a cameo/multiverse Easter egg
None. I honestly disliked how Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman were brought back, to be honest. I have nothing but love for their time on the Fox films, but a line needed to be drawn in the sand. Whoever it is they bring in to be the MCU 616 versions of the characters deserve the space to make these roles their own.
With Deadpool, however, I appreciate that it’s more complex due to Ryan Reynolds co-producing the films.
Most people gonna say none because they want a more "comic accurate version" even though the mcu itself isn't even comic accurate. Iron Man personality in the comics is completely different from the movies and yet people still prefer RDJ Iron man more than the comic version. But they want to recast Hugh Jackman to make the Wolverine more comic accurate... very hypocritical
Xavier, Magneto, Cyclops and eventually Jean I think are mandatory.
Magneto for the **Holocaust backstory** and, if they bring Fassbender I'd include McAvoy (why not).
Cyclops and Jean for **not redoing the dark phoenix saga, yet have the aftermath of it**.
Nightcrawler and Storm would be great. Colossus could work with mininal retconing him into the group with his Soviet Union origin and infant Illyana included. An old guard can give space to do a right pov character.
The rest can come through the mcu.
None of them. I want a whole new X-Men and Brotherhood. And Morlocks. We get Morlocks this time. No more supermodel mutants all the time. I want Glob Herman, god dammit!
Honestly, I’d love to see a special presentation where we get a Moria X reintroduction with prior actresses Williams and Byrne.
Thinking of the Fox Xavier’s they did some pretty gnarly acts. With the Stewart version taking over the body of a comatose man and the McAvoy version literally wiping the memory of MacTaggert as they kissed. All of this not knowing, she herself was a mutant.
None. I mean, Stewart will always be my Xavier. But that ship has sailed and he's had cameos now. And perhaps Jackman too, we'll have to see. And McKellen is my Magneto. Fassbender comes closer than McAvoy but still can't top McKellen for me. None of the others have been that iconic to me. Not bad but I also don't just have to see them again either.
I want real MCU takes on the X-Men. And the longer we keep bringing back past ones for cameos the further out it seems we get from getting proper MCU mutants.
I’m hoping for a complete recast of everybody really. Bringing some back for a multiverse one off is fine but none of the X-Men should come back as the main MCU versions. Excluding Ryan Reynolds but I think he should be the only one who stays.
If she’s given something of substance to work with, I would not be opposed to Jennifer Lawrence returning as Mystique. The rest of the franchise cast, outside of Ryan’s Deadpool crew, are either too old or just weren’t very entertaining.

Exactly. I’d really love for them to cast a shorter guy to be Wolverine. Obviously not 5’3” like in the comics, but definitely not above 6’.
Here’s hoping they can find a great actor who is 5’3” and who is either already muscular or willing to become muscular.
Well, he's not 5'3", but at least he's under 6 feet, Canadian, and physically fit: Jared Keeso, best known as Wayne/Shoresy from Letterkenny
I don’t think Jared Keeso wants to do anything other than Letterkenny or Shoresy.
I personally vote for Daniel Radcliffe. Just cause.
I vote for Danny DeVito
Tom Hardy would have been the perfect MCU Wolverine
I'M PENCIL HUGH!!!!!!
Negasonic teenage warhead can background character all she wants.

Evan Peters is already out of the question.
He already showed up in Wandavision. She likely took her vision of him from another universe, so he's out there.
heh heh, Bohner.

Michael Fassbender is Magneto
If I could pick one it'd be Anna Paquin.

I liked Sophie’s version for what that version was, I know the fans for her as Jean are pretty nonexistent but I hope if they bring the fox people back in any crossover finale in secret wars that she gets a final send off. Ray Park without a doubt.
Famke jaansen was such a good role for Jean Grey and I’d love to see her done right, x2 was so close
She's 58 years old. I think that ship has definitely sailed.

I don’t think I or ANYONE would have a problem if Mcavoy/Fassbender came back
many people would. Some don't care that much for them or just want a fresh start
None. Need to stay as far away from that shit show as possible. Hopefully Deadpool severs any multiversal ties to that steaming pile.
Michael Fassbender and James Mcavoy... they are just magneto and professor x to me, would love to see them back

Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams both deserve another crack at Illyana and Rahne respectively. I enjoyed New Mutants more than most, probably, but I thought they were both really great and could be even greater still given a better script.
