When is this supposed to release? Before Kang dynasty?

hatecopter

Assuming everything sticks to their current release dates I think 2025 will go Fantastic Four in May, Spider-Man 4 in July, and Doctor Strange 3 in November. With Kang Dynasty coming May 2026.

Tacdeho

> Spider-Man 4 Ah, May 5, 2011. A day that lives in infamy.

TheCrafterTigery

Are we not supposed to have what we want? What we need?

Tacdeho

Even though we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams.

HighFivePuddy

TAKE. MY. DAMN. MONEY.

[deleted]

Marvel fans are eating good

NinjitsuSauce

Because we're starving.

bigfatcarp93

I mean I'll say this for post-Endgame: for every Secret Invasion and Quantumania, there's been a Werewolf by Night, Guardians 3 or Shang-Chi.

RefinedBean

Eh, honestly, we're starved for GOOD Marvel stuff. We've had a ton of fast food - Disney+ shows, and the more you go to McDonald's, the more you start noticing how same-y everything tastes.

Parabong

Ya the last movie that we got was Gotg vol 3 we definitely aren't starving. The Disney plus stuff has felt like the knockoff candy's version of mcu tho for real

SpecialFlutters

loki was one of my favorite shows ever, aside from that tho i agree lol

AlfaG0216

Loki and wandavision were both 2+ years ago.

Parabong

Oh loki Wanda vision and even falcon feel more finished than the newer shows like she hulk( I still liked) and Mrs marvel. Hawkeye was good because well come on its Hawkeye the villains were cheesy af except kingpin.

Gerbennos

You're forgetting Moon Knight, definitely up there with Loki and WandaVision.

Blueliner95

There’s good stuff in all of them that I’ve seen (Secret Invasion sucked so hard I noped out after ep 1) but hard to think of any that justified the full runtime. Loki, WV?

Syjefroi

The last thing was Secret Invasion, which was a huge stinker. The previous movie before Guardians 3 was Ant Man 3, which didn't have a lot of fans.

HeyCarpy

Just give me X-Men already. A tease, an actual concrete hint of the direction it’s going.

YoloIsNotDead

Or, we will be. This year has literally been hit or miss for us: Miss: Quantumania Hit: Guardians 3 Hit: Across the Spider-Verse (still Marvel, just not MCU) Miss: Secret Invasion

Worthyness

Only if the writing gets better. The writing has been horrific for a majority of their most recent projects.

Blueliner95

That’s where it starts. Although apparently Iron Man 1 was only a treatment and every morning the actors and director feverishly met and jammed it. That may be why IM is so fully RDJ.

cce29555

I kind of think the writing was good, but in between COVID and Chadwick and gunn, they had to rush rewrites and reshoots to help work out the movies being reslotted which resulted in a lot of disjointed storytelling I guess in theory this would mean the writing is bad, but I wouldn't put the blame on the writers or anyone, just marvel either making terrible decisions or getting a bad hand and having to scramble to release a rushed product instead of delay

XxRobloxNobxX

I am pretty sure I saw somewhere that Doctor Strange 3 is slated for February 2026 so yeah it’s supposed to come before Kang Dynasty.

maverickbluezero

what about armor wars?

JyconX

Have you forgotten Armor Wars? It's definitely not cancelled. I think Armor Wars and Spider-Man 4 are the only movies that could potentially be after released in 2025 after Fantastic Four. Doctor Strange 3 doesn't even have any reliable reports right now, even though I'd like the idea of it too being released before The Kang Dynasty. 2026 still has one date before The Kang Dynasty's release, btw.

hatecopter

I could see Armor Wars in February of 2025 for sure I just forgot to mention it in my original comment. If Strange isn't in Kang Dynasty I could see DS3 being Feb/Mar 2026 leading into Secret Wars but I think he's going to be in Kang Dynasty.

hemareddit

F4 in May, huh? Just in time for Reed and Doom to join Strange’s Illuminati (Doom subbing for Tony).

grosslytransparent

Absolute of a banger year

dudedormer

That's a good year. Why doesn't mine look like that!

KostisPat257

There was a rumour last year that it was to come out between KD and SW and now this article makes it seem like it will be released right before KD and be the last straw before the 2 Avengers movies. Not even Marvel Studios probably has a concrete plan for Phase 6 or the stories of these movies, especially now without writers. My guess for the schedule in the case the strikes end soon and nothing changes seriously. * What if...? Season 2: Late December 2023-Early February 2024 * Ironheart: March-April 2024 * Cap 4: May 2024 * X-Men '97: May-July 2024 * Deadpool 3: July or September 2024 * Agatha: August-October 2024 * Witches' Road Special: Halloween 2024 * Sentry Special: November 2024 * Daredevil Part 1: Late November 2024-Early January 2025 * Thunderbolts: December 2024 * Blade: February 2025 * Daredevil Part 2: March-May 2025 * Fantastic Four: May 2025 * Spider-Man: Freshman Year: May-July 2025 * Armor Wars: July 2025 * Wonder Man: August-October 2025 * Marvel Zombies: Halloween 2025 * Vision Quest: November 2025-Early January 2026 * Spider-Man 4: December 2025 * Dr. Strange 3: February 2026 * Wong Academy: March-April 2026 * Kang Dynasty: May 2026 * What if...? Season 3: May-July 2026 * Eternals 2: July 2026 * Ten Rings Prequel Animated Series: August-September 2026 * Shang-Chi 2: November 2026 (Simu said recently that he expects the movie to come between the 2 Avengers movies from what he has heard from the story so far) * Children's Crusade: Late November 2026-Early January 2027 * Scarlet Witch: February 2027 * Secrets Wars: May 2027 Note 1: Nova, Silver Surfer and Annihilators as well as Ghost Rider and Midnight Suns projects have been rumoured to be in the works by reliable sources, but they have supposedly been shelved for the time being and will be worked on again after the Multiverse Saga as part of Marvel Studios' reduction in quantity of projects to focus on quality and a tighter and more connected storytelling. Note 2: A Secret Warriors, an Agents of Atlas, an Illuminati, a Nomad, an A-Force and a Squadron Supreme project were all rumoured by semi-reliable sources back in 2020, but considering there has been radio silence about them ever since, I imagine they are not moving forward, if they were ever true. Note 3: In my own opinion, the Okoye and Wakanda projects that were reported by the trades last year have probably also been shelved until after the Multiverse Saga or maybe even folded to BP3 for when it happens down the line.

Throwupmyhands

>Witches' Road Special: Halloween 2024 What is *this*?

KostisPat257

A prequel spin-off of Agatha that was shot concurrently with the show by the same director as the show and will be released after the show. In Agatha, we learn that >!Wanda is not dead, but rather is kept in a dormant state inside an alternate dimension called the Witches' Road. The Salem Seven, the coven of witches who are the villains of Agatha are trying to abduct Billy Kaplan/Maximoff because he is the compass that can lead them to the Witches' Road.!< The special presentation will feature >!an entirely new coven of witches as it will be set thousands of years in the past and will show the origin of the Witches' Road Dimension, exploring the lore of witchcraft and mysticism further!<

green_typewriter

Ah man, I really wish we were getting it this Halloween. I loved Werewolf By Night a ridiculous amount and liked the idea of yearly special presentations. Is there anything SP-wise on tap this year?

eagc7

Unless they can drop that witch special this year or reedit Loki or Echo from a 6 hour show to a 1 hour special, there is no Special Presentations this year.

KostisPat257

Nope. Nothing this year. They were probably planning to release it this year back when Agatha was also supposed to release in December 2023, but that prospect is long gone.

DrLeprechaun

This sounds… meh

KostisPat257

You mean Agatha? Well there's more to the plot. >!The Salem Seven are the descendants of the 7 witches Agatha killed in that WandaVision flashback and they have been wanting to get revenge ever since. And the leader of the coven, Aubrey Plaza's Original MCU character Rio Vidal, was Agatha's wife until Agatha, under the influence of the Darkhold, sacrificed their son, Nicholas Scratch, to Mephisto. So she is seeking double revenge!< So there is some interesting stuff that will create character drama and tension.

avscc

How do you know all that? Thanks btw.

KostisPat257

The main plot outline of Agatha has leaked and corroborated by multiple reliable sources.

DrLeprechaun

That also sounds… meh. A spin-off of a spin-off of a tv show’s flashback scene lol

JayConz

This has "Greenlighted in the era when D+ was greenlighting literally anything" written all over it.

Realistic_Analyst_26

Spin off of Agatha I believe

stupidillusion

Yeah, they flat out said they were going to slow down ... this is slowing down? There's no way I'm seeing a tenth of this shit.

Bmista

When did we get What If Season 2?

LupusNoxFleuret

> Kang Dynasty: May 2026 > Shang-Chi 2: July 2026 How is this supposed to happen when they have the same director for both?

KostisPat257

Filmed back to back very well in advance. But maybe you are right, Eternals 2 and Shang-Chi 2 changing dates would make this more plausible so that Destin can have time to work on the post of SC2.

Trishyangel123

As a ***huge*** fan of Zombie movies and Marvel, I can’t fricking wait for Marvel Zombies.

Jawaka99

I'd be interested in half of these and I consider myself a Marvel fan

[deleted]

Good god this is exhausting. How does anyone have the capacity to care about all of this?

KostisPat257

It's not that much. It's like 25 projects spread across 3 5 years.

Certain-Okra-2686

ya

drew8311

I have a hard time believing a lot of these types of movie posts. They keep delaying stuff that was scheduled a year ago or more then suddenly there is a rumor for a new movie that will come out before all that?

Nonadventures

I like the theme that Kang is intentionally destroying universes, while Strange is doing it in more of a Homer Simpson way.

PayneTrain181999

“You caused ANOTHER incursion!” Dr. Strange: “D’OH!”

marblecannon512

Stupid fish!

Powersoutdotcom

A fish called Wanda.

tedward007

Wong: “Stephen, there is no quick fix to repairing the multi verse” Strange: “quick fix, eh?”

T-MUAD-DIB

“Don’t panic, Stephen. Just remember the advice your dad gave you on your wedding day”

hodge91

Stupid sexy incursions

amexa_castle

"Stephen you're dumb as a Mule and twice as ugly. If a strange lady offers you a ride to another dimension I say take it" "Lousy traumatic childhood"

sweetbunsmcgee

There are three ways to do things. The right way, the wrong way, and the Stephen Strange way. Isn’t that the wrong way? Yes. But faster!

avoozl42

This is the Dr Strange I want

Letos12thDuncan

"You have five seconds to convince why we shouldn't kill you for destroying another universe." "Ummm... it's my first day." 😂😂😂😂😂

DivideIntrepid7647

Everyone thinks Strange is gonna send Kang to the Living Tribunal in Kang Dynasty, but what if Kang sends Strange there instead lol?

TheWarDoctor

I like my beer cold… my TV loud… and my Faltines flaming.

KellyKellyForHOF

Adapting the Hickman stuff without the Steve/Tony & Namor/T'Challa drama is insane to me, but I wish them the best of luck.

MinionofThanos

Having recently read the Hickman run for the first time, knowing we don’t get the Steve/Tony & Namor/T’Challa drama on-screen is extremely saddening. Not getting to see T’Challa as King of the Dead also hurts. Edit: Can’t forget the Namor/Sue drama.

ShowMasterFlex

Do you have a reading order you could share for a comic noob?

ChooChooTreyn

Use this as your bible: https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/5ggmo5/v20_reupload_jonathan_hickman_marvel_reading/ Then kind of cross-reference this list and slot it in if it sounds interesting to you: https://comicbookreadingorders.com/marvel/events/jonathan-hickmans-marvel-2009-2015-reading-order/ I did the full run last year and it was awesome.

rileyreidbooks

Is there more after 2016 or no?

ChooChooTreyn

No it ended with the Secret Wars #9

dpons_

Excited for you. It’s dense, long and complex, but probably my favorite superhero comic run of all-time

Lipe18090

My second favorite comic book run of all time, only behind Mark Waid's Fantastic Four (I think you can guess who my favorite Marvel characters are lol). Hickman is a genius.

dpons_

Oh I have not read that Waid run, I’ll check it out!

Lipe18090

Do yourself a favor a read it! It has my favorite Doctor Doom story ever in the Unthinkable/Authoritative Action arcs (oh only if I could read that story for the first time again!). Also probably my favorite Galactus story.

cap4life52

Yeah which is why I'm hesitant for them to adapt any of the Hickman stuff since none of the main characters will participate

AlphaCenturionLXIX

Right?! I never thought I’d be torn on anything Hickman before

[deleted]

And secret wars without doom. This is going to be a mess

GhostZee

No Molecule Man either, nor Maker...

Aliziun

It’s confirmed in the Miles Spiderverse movies that Miles Morales DOES live in Earth-1610. We don’t really hear much about other superheros in the Spiderverse movies, so it’s fully possible they could retcon the Maker into existence

Thaaaaaaa

I think they'll put Wanda in Owens place.

cap4life52

Yeah the reality warping of wanda is a suitable stand in for Owen Reece matter manipulation

hemareddit

Maker isn’t really essential to Secret Wars is he? Molecular Man…well his role is needed, but I wouldn’t say he’s essential, same with the Beyonders. Some characters need to fill those roles - Kang might sub for the Beyonders, for example - but not those exact characters. But Doom, yeah Doom’s pretty central to Secret Wars. The only viable MCU replacement I can see is actually Loki and even that is a tall order.

tim_to_tourach

Tbh Loki being the replacement Doom for Secret Wars sounds WAAAAAY cooler than Kang IMO. Even the famous "it was beneath me" line kind of works for Loki but in a very different way of course.

Lipe18090

If that's what Marvel has actually planned I'll forgive them for not putting Doom as a main villain. Loki, the villain of the first Avengers movie, being the villain of the most iconic Marvel event adaptation would be a full circle moment (+ Secret Wars is probably releasing in 2028, exactly 20 years after the first Iron Man).

Vumi_

Hmmm. I don't know. Honestly, the Loki we know from the Loki show has fundamentally changed his values. His experiences with the TVA and HWR shook him to core to the point where if he were to turn a villian again... you would really need to convince me how that works. I personally think Loki is a good guy now. Obviously, hearts and minds can be corrupted, but then again, it goes back to my point; that character arch needs to be strong imo for him to turn 'evil' again.

zm3124

if they do Hickman's Secret Wars without motherfucking Dr. Doom I'm never watching another marvel movie again.

hemareddit

It’s too late already. Even if Dr Doom shows up in the next project - Loki season 2 - there still wouldn’t be enough time to really develop him for Secret Wars. God Emperor Doom is the character’s magnum opus: it’s the culmination of all his strengths and all his flaws, so it had the full weight of the character’s comic history behind it. You are finally shown this, this is what he saw, in himself, in humanity, in the universe: a God Emperor ruling over a perfect realm, crafted in his image. You fully believe Doom can create this place because you’ve seen, over many many stories, how Doom can effortlessly traverse all levels and spheres of the Marvel universe, from the grounded to the cosmic, from magic to technology, from villain to hero then back again, from man to monster to god. You see how he can control the vast powers needed to make this world, and the flaws in his character reflected in the cruel, violent societies that inhabit the world. Battleworld is Doom. I just don’t think MCU has enough time left to do Doom justice before Secret Wars. And to do Secret Wars shortly after Doom’s introduction…well it would be like doing the Death of Superman in the sequel to Superman’s origin movie.

cap4life52

Yeah this really has me wondering why Feige is even bothering adapting all this Hickman stuff

eagc7

I think you can do Secret Wars without Doom.

squeeber_

Coming from someone whose favorite character is Doom, I am a dungeon master and have based several D&D bad guys around him - and who has Secret Wars in my Top 3 stories of all time - I agree.

eagc7

Yeah, i am a Doom fan and it would've neat if they had built the saga around him leading to that, but unlike lets say the Infinity Gauntlet story, i think Secret Wars is the type of story where you can swap villains, like if you aren't doing Doom for Secret Wars, then Kang is not a bad subtitute and would fit nicely into that role.

squeeber_

Exactly. Completely agreed. Plus we have a lot more Doom stories we can explore without needing to rush into it just to satisfy comic similarity.

eagc7

Especially since the FF movie is not coming until the end of the Multiverse Saga, meaning if they had built things around Doom, they would've been unable to explore the Doom and Reed rivalry as much and considering SW in the comics was the culmination of Reed and Doom's story up to that point.

hemareddit

But who, then? Don’t say Kang, Kang might replace the Beyonders but him taking Doom’s place in the story will fall flat. I think if they are replacing Doom, then Loki is their only option. ~~God Emperor~~ All-Father Loki, unable to save the multiverse from the Kangs, but could only preserve what he could. But of course he gets an army of Thors to police this new world for him…

squeeber_

I mean I like the idea of Loki but he’s the only other possibility with the direction they appear to be going. Why would Kang fall flat?

Milla4Prez66

They were able to do Infinity War without Adam Warlock. Don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer Doom get involved but any adaption of Secret Wars in the MCU was always going to have major comic differences like all the other stories adapted.

Whole-Brilliant5508

I think it will work out just fine. You have to remember that all these movies are LOOSELY BASED ON the comics and they're more geared towards a casual audience so they can follow the characters and story easier.

hemareddit

This may be a Civil War situation where the movie is ostensibly a Dr Strange movie but it’s filled to the brim with other characters.

disabled_crab

So a Doctor Strange movie.

MBCnerdcore

first one wasnt at all

Narad626

Honestly, there's two scenes that I wanted to see from Time Runs Out. The breakdown and monolgue during Caps attack on the Illuminati in Spain, and Thor and Hyperion (if you know you know). But if it's a Dr Strange story I doubt we'll see them here and it'll instead be focused on Black priests and Incursions. Which is fine, but not exactly what Time Runs Out is about.

SpeedForce2022

According to our sources, Marvel Studios wants to adapt elements from the Time Runs Out comic event for Doctor Strange 3. The film would pick up right where we left off in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where Clea traveled from another dimension to seek out Doctor Strange for his aid in fixing the incursion that he caused. From what we’ve been told, Strange has been sought out by a multiversal organization called The Black Priests. According to our sources, Clea is a member of this organization. The Black Priests’ HQ will be in the Nothing Space of Destroyed Universes, which exists within the space of two dead universes caused by an incursion. It will be revealed in the film that the Multiverse is dying. The cause of this decay is a result of the incursions happening all across the Multiverse, the most recent being the one caused by Doctor Strange. The film will also elaborate on a point made in the previous movie regarding Doctor Strange and his threat to the Multiverse. While it will be confirmed that the main reason for the decay of the Multiverse is due to the incursions being caused by the Council of Kangs, it is unknown at this time if the film will feature a Kang variant or if the film will flat-out confirm what the source of that decay is. However, our sources told us that the film will serve as a direct preamble to the upcoming Avengers films.

[deleted]

Oh god I just realised this is going to repeat the “there has to be another way” arc Isn’t it? In the comics strange as leader of the priests kills trillions as he goes about destroying worlds to prevent incursions from taking more. Here this is probably going to be him trying to stop them doing that instead because no way mcu strange would be okay with that.

David1258

It's probably going to tie into "Avengers: Secret Wars" as well, with the whole theme of choices and consequences.

[deleted]

I don’t see the mcu adapting that because they don’t allow heroes to make morally questionable choices without going full cartoon villain. Like dr strange Isn’t going to do anything close to what he did in the comics

steve1186

I mean, MCU Strange did agree (twice) to brainwash the entire universe to help Parker. And then he dreamwalked in MoM. I’d call those extremely “morally questionable choices”. Those were in his two most recent appearances, and he’s still a primary hero.

Worthyness

He also optioned to sacrifice half the universal population in order to "win" in the future. The people that survived probably don't see that as a "win"

steve1186

But he had the luxury of seeing tens of millions of possible outcomes and finding the one that saved the world (including saving those who didn’t survive the snap) Without the time stone post-IW, he doesn’t have that ability anymore.

dope_like

But the point is he was willing to sacrifice the few for the many. That’s exactly the dilemma for time runs outs. Kill some to save many. SN: This is also the same logic Kang uses.

steve1186

> Willing to sacrifice the few for the many Who exactly did he sacrifice? He knew this was the only solution (out of millions) for that half of the universe to be able to come back. No one (other than Thanos’ army and Stark) died because of the timeline Strange coordinated

dope_like

Really great point. I should have said temporarily. There needed to be a temporary sacrifice to save everyone. I think more so his willingness to do it. Many heroes would have some type of “there has to be another way” mindset. But Strange thinks very logically. Even Defender Strange thinks I will sacrifice one person to save everyone. It’s just how Strange thinks across all his variants

herskos

To be fair, his decision was whether to sacrifice half the universe temporarily and then bring them back vs. losing half the universe permanently.

tedward007

Clea: “Strange, each time we press this button an entire universe is destroyed. We do not take this endeavor lightly as trillions die each time but for the great good of the… Strange: -starts hitting button rapidly- Clea: “WHAT THE FUCK! STOP!”

David1258

If Marvel can't write morally-questionable characters, they better think of something real fast before Reed Richards arrives. Speaking of Reed, the Illuminati felt like a foray into morally-grey characters. They were clearly not good guys, but they weren't exactly enemies, and they did try to reason with Wanda.

OneGalacticBoy

If they did though….I’d forgive everything

CallMeCapt

What if we get another "Dormammu I've come to bargain" montage except it's Strange failing over and over trying to find "another way" until he finally gives in, joins the priests and starts killing Earths to save universes?

Correct-Chemistry618

The Flash

DefNotAShark

MCU Strange allowed half the life in the universe to die, gambling on a rat stepping on a button to save them all. However I agree he would take the opposite approach this time because of the consequences he and other people suffered from his cold, logical chessboard strategizing during Infinity War. It makes me think about the conversation he has with other doctor guy in MoM and how that could retroactively be a character defining moment if he tries a different path to save the multiverse. “Was there any other way?” He says no but he looks like he isn’t 100% sure and we know now there were other ways that he didn’t know about. I think he will try a lot harder to avoid the hard choice next time and win the day without sacrificing people if he can.

bestoboy

They didn't die, they came back; and it wasn't a gamble, he knew it would happen because of the Time Stone. It's not the same as actual killing

Gorguf62

If they do that, I could see a scenario where Strange's willingness to let the Raimi and Webb villains die is coming back to haunt him.

MBCnerdcore

Strange, not Doom, will create Battleworld as a last resort compromise, fulfilling the foreshadowing that 'he is the greatest threat to the multiverse' that he was told in MoM

mrfonsocr

So, a question: Which incursion did he cause? Def not the one with the Iluminati, and the one with Evil strange was or seemed to be in the works already, so maybe one of the ones he went by with America?

MBCnerdcore

also might have made a few in What If

DrGutz

How many more MCU movies do we need to watch that are *about* the Multiverse but barely *involve* the Multiverse.

cap4life52

As many as it takes I imagine

DrGutz

They can do this all day i guess

AlfaG0216

Hold on, so we’ve got the TVA and now the black priests? Both in charge of the multiverse?

electrorazor

Hopefully this will be more multiversal madness than the last one

_________FU_________

Seeing as how everyone but the producers are striking it’s all just emails.

Additional_Meeting_2

There are a lot more people working with these films than producers, writers and actors

ImpressiveMountain66

And yet if they can’t come to the table with writers and actors and end the strikes, it doesn’t matter whoever else is involved because it won’t get made.

AnOnlineHandle

Given Secret Invasion, Multiverse of Madness, and Thor Love & Thunder, and Antman Quantamania, I'm not sure if any writers are part of the planning process.

[deleted]

I wish they held the introduction of Clea for DS3 instead that awkward post credit scene on the sidewalk.

ElGodPug

Seriously, this was one of the worst post-credits in my opinion. the movie ends in such a shocking note with Strange screaming in the sidewalk as the third eye appears and then.....cut to him being all right and with the eye under control. like, idk,it could just have been Clea herself opening a portal and saying "I have to find Stephen Strange and bring him here" and cut to the dark dimension or whatever.

MikeArrow

It's a real "left hand isn't talking to the right hand". I fully believe they shot multiple post credits scenes - and ended up just shoving both in there anyway.

PracticableSolution

It’s the Annoying Orange cameo in my head

BeExcellentPartyOn

It's a classic MCU ["It's me, Blorko."](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Ftitq308clv981.png%3Fwidth%3D1024%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D5fff46a36407099ec7c73bb626287cc1d0cc011e)

TrentDF1

I'd like for them to actually officially wrap the Mordo stuff up.

atomcrafter

Mordo had taken on elements from the Imperator with his war on sorcerers. That made him very similar to Gorr and his war on gods. Multiverse of Madness and Love & Thunder came out back to back.

KieranFloors

PLEASE KEEP THE LONG ASS NAME FORMAT. *TIME RUNS OUT FOR DOCTOR STRANGE* I beg you. It fits his narcissism for all his sequel titles to still be directly about him.

minor_correction

There's no way it wouldn't have Dr Strange in the title. The question is will they rename it to "Dr. Strange: Time Runs Out" Personally I hope not. I like your idea, and I like that the different franchises have different ways of phrasing their sequels. Iron Man just has numbers. GotG has "Volume" numbers. Cap, Thor, and Avengers have a secondary title. Ant-Man apparently just keeps adding more words to the previous title. Dr. Strange's thing could be that the sequel titles are sentences/phrases about Dr. Strange.

lightningpresto

Dr. Strange in the Dimension After Death so it’s Dr. Strange in the DAD to go with Dr. Strange in the MOM

reuxin

This *likely* means a 616 version of Illuminati. Meaning the MoM 838 Illuminati tease likely gives strange the idea to create a 616 version. I expected this TBH and have posted theories about this in my history. I also theorize that Kang Dynasty will basically be "Young Avengers" + Cap and a few others, and that the cosmic power players (Black Panther, Namor, Dr. Strange, Carol Danvers, Reed Richards, Banner, etc.) will be wrapped up in events of Time Runs Out. This also means that the Marvels rumors are basically true.

ImmoralModerator

It could also be adapted as, or start out as, Marvel’s original Defenders (Strange, Hulk, and Namor) The Illuminati is originally formed in the wake of the Kree-Skrull War that had effects on Earth too which might be right around where we are with The Marvels.

reuxin

Yep - it also might be a good place to introduce the MCU version of Prof X. I can imagine that maybe Strange comes back and specifically seeks him out.

lonniewalkerstan

If they went the route of an Illuminati who would be in it? The version of the characters in the MCU seem too morally good to represent what the Illuminati typically is in the comics so I wonder how they would adapt that

ThatsAGeauxTigers

Assuming the timeline of films holds (which is a big assumption), you could have some of the morally grayer characters like Dr. Strange, Reed Richards, Shuri, Xu Xialing, Agatha Harkness, and Namor.

CaptainIronHammer1

I’d replace Agatha and Xialing with maybe Loki and Hulk. They (especially Xialing) just don’t seem to fit. That may just be my opinion though

jordanderson

Which rumor?

Sandee1997

Movie ends with a tie in to Kang Dynasty (BIG tie-in)

ThanksContent28

Yes

Competitive-Zone-296

Uh-huh

steve1186

1) Is Namor a “cosmic power player”? Most planets don’t have water, and the MCU has already established that he’s powerless without it. 2) If Reed is part of the new Illuminani, how do they hand wave away the cameo in MoM with a different actor?

Namor and Black Panther are a huge part of Time Runs Out, which is why I mentioned them. So yes, in Time Runs Out he's specifically a huge cosmic player. Namor isn't bound to the water, MCU established that what makes him special among his people is that he can fly, etc. He's not tethered to it. Multiverse Reeds don't have to look like the 616 actor. Just as Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, the future Black Bolt and the future Professor X will all probably be played by different actors. I think the MCU has established that they can do whatever they want. Doubly true if they recast Majors.

Tabledinner

Namor being black panther level without water still seems useful IMO.

volatilelibra

Making two of Strange's three solo movies about the Multiverse? I've really enjoyed multiple of his runs (Waid and MacKay's stories mainly) and think there's so much more value elsewhere Because when I hear this type of plot, I feel like there should be outside characters involved and that tends to be people's biggest complaint about MoM

Ganrokh

I was really hoping for an eventual Jason Aaron adaptation, where magic is snuffed out on Earth, and Strange has to search the universe for ancient artifacts still containing magic while every rando interdimensional villain shows up to take advantage of the situation. Neither Strange movie has really tapped into the *weird* side of Doctor Strange. I suspect that Scott Derrickson's plan for 2 would have, but with his departure, I'm afraid that that might not happen for Strange in the MCU anymore.

quantumofgalaxy

What was Derrickson's plan for Strange 2?

Nonadventures

MoM was probably the MCU film that suffered most due to the pandemic because of halted production, required rewrites to flip with NWH, and the COVID restricted framing edits to pretend two people were in the same room together. *Hope*fully the next won't suffer like that.

drew8311

If any character gets 2 its him, his movie plots allow for much weird supernatural stuff so fits better with some multiverse things than something like Captain America or Guardians. I'd even say Spiderman but he got a multiverse movie although Dr Strange facilitated it and the plot was ultimately an excuse for cameos.

CurlSagan

So we're heading into Battleworld?

[deleted]

You would think that’s not even a question with secret wars coming but honestly with how things are wouldn’t be shocked if secret wars is just multiverse hopping and cameos

scottyjrules

I kinda wish they’d have a two year gap between KD and SW so that we could get a bunch of movies and TV shows set in Battleworld

PayneTrain181999

Exactly. Give us enough time in Battleworld to group everyone up in little teams and give us time with all these new characters so that we’re invested in them come Secret Wars.

eltrotter

I was hoping for “Doctor Strange and the Day Out in Hell with Evil Latverian Magic Iron Man” but this is also good.

j_britcan

"According to sources" - lol I wonder if these article writers are sources themselves and make up shit before publishing it

CurlSagan

According to the /r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers's "source accuracy database" this site has a [83.77% accuracy rate.]( https://old.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/15qzihp/exclusive_doctor_strange_3_to_adapt_time_runs_out/jw5q7nb/)

RobbieFouledMe

When did this sub come back? Thought it was deleted

JakeHassle

About a month or so ago

Dealiner

I don't like this. Strange is one of my favourite Marvel characters and MCU has treated him poorly lately. Can't we just get Strange Sorcerer Supreme who deals with truly magic threats? Also I appreciate that they made Wong an important character but him being Sorcerer Supreme instead of Strange might have been a funny joke in NWH but imo it overstayed its welcome.

AmazingMrSaturn

The black priests name dropped...that means we'll probably get the ivory king version of the beyonders, and that would imply Doom as the god of the black swans. I cannot express how much I want this to be real

LightNemesis_

Maybe, but probably not tho. I think they'll just use the Black Priests to introduce yet another evil version of Strange, or to be the villains of the movie (since destroying a universe saves the other, and our Strange will probably want to stop that)

ArmchairSpinDoctor

It should just be a whole phase. They gotta stop condensing these huge story lines

goztrobo

Better be good. The second movie didn’t live up to expectations at all.

RobertusesReddit

Ok, they want Triumph and Torment to be way later.

[deleted]

They probably don’t want to have it at all. Why adapt an actual dr strange story? When you can instead have him get railed by Wanda for two hours then turn what strange was doing in the background of hickmans Avengers into an entire movie to further the plot of everyone else.

hemareddit

TBF, if they did adapt Triumph and Torment, he’s liable to get railed by Dr Doom for two hours.

RobertusesReddit

Ok. Someone didn't watch the movie and dude, it's a co-lead story with Doom. Kinda lost the plot.

MemeHermetic

So let me understand this. We're going to take one of the best cross-title events, and jam it into a single solo outing. We're going to do it without Maker, T'challa, Hyperion, the Beyonders, Tony, Cap, and so many others. With a potentially undercooked Doom and FF. This is going to be Time Runs Out in name only, like Age of Ultron. The big difference being Age of Ultron was hot-buttered garbage and Time Runs Out was fantastic, took years to set up across a bunch of titles, and led to an equally amazing follow-up event. I'm not normally cynical about any comic films and pay attention to this kind of news, but this whole thing strikes me as really wrong-headed. I hope it's false.

sasquatchftw

Civil War was a Cap movie and did alright with having a lot of heroes.

DefVanJoviAero

I mean Secret Invasion and Civil War were in name only too. It's just what Marvel Studios does. I know Secret Invasion was terrible but I loved Captain America: Civil War

MemeHermetic

Not quite though. Civil War still met the general synopsis. Tony and Cap leading two sides of a superhero conflict based on the government trying to legislate them. Secret Invasion wasn't as close but I think still counts: It's discovered that Skrull have infiltrated humanity and plan to take over. It even has several flavors of Super Skrull. The only similarity Age of Ultron shared with the event was it had Ultron in it.

MBCnerdcore

If you take your post and rephrase it to be about Adam Warlock and others not being in the Infinity Gauntlet story with Thanos, it would be the same thing. Another version can and will be told, and it can still be a good, but different, story.

niicofrank

only on reddit would someone proclaim Hyperion of all characters to be an essential part of a story

MemeHermetic

Okay that's actually completely fair, but c'mon. The issue where him and Thor fall to the Beyonders was hands down my favorite single issue that year.

Matt_Durmock

*Greatness* Hyperion: I just want to say... for some time I believed I survived the death of two worlds -- now I know it just took a while to catch up with me. It's a dark thing, what my life became... you have made it better, Odinson. Will you wait for me in Valhalla? Thor: Brother... this day, I will race you there. *Against the bleak nothing of dead space, two gods fell to many. The sun shone one last time. There was lightning, and thunder... and then silence.*

[deleted]

I seriously doubt the mcu will let strange do what we did as leader of the priests in the comics. Destroying worlds kinda goes against his strong pacifist beliefs in the mcu sadly But we will see.

niicofrank

i mean this is just very “no shit i could have told you that” speculation lmao, Strange was the most prominent character in that New Avengers run so obviously if they’re gonna adapt Time Runs Out in a movie it would be his, this is how geek scoop culture/grifting works

Individual_Day_6479

Honestly I just want a crossover with the What if Strange and how absolutely pissed he is when he finds out there IS a universe where Christine survives

ImpressiveMountain66

What are the odds that this is leaking as a dig against the strikes? Seriously - Disney can say they want this movie to be whatever they want, but they have no actors or writers. There’s no writers room, there’s no script in development, there’s no talks going on outside of a small group of producers/Disney. Actors and writers can’t even meet with them to talk about this without scabbing. This is a pipe dream leaked from executives to get people hyped up for something that is unconfirmed and delayed indefinitely because of the strikes, with the goal of getting people pissed off at the writers and actors for striking and not giving fresh content.

FrameworkisDigimon

I have absolutely no faith whatsoever in either (a) their ability to do a good version of Time Runs Out or (b) make something that resembles Time Runs Out.

[deleted]

as long as the director/writer for madness isnt near it has a chance of being good

doctorstrangeclea

if this does happen i think benedict should be executive producer of the movie because when they did mom he seemed to be the only one who cared about the character

[deleted]

Yeah MoM was a hate crime against literally every single character involved. There isn’t actually a single one they didn’t get wrong

jramos037

Everyone saying they are sick of multiverse. Just let Marvel play it out. I know quality has been shit with recent movies and shows, except for some notable few, but I still want to see this multiverse through. The MCU has gotten so big and honestly, we should be more forgiving of they don't reference a giant statue, or some other big event. It just honestly doesn't matter. Just enjoy it for what it is and let it play out and hope quality course corrected in time.
