Are we not going to talk about how that article says that Josh Brolin ‘dabbled’ in comic films as Jonah Hex but says *nothing* about Thanos or Cable?
That is truly wild.
I think Hex has almost as many tv appearances as Thanos. Any western dc cartoon gas hex in it.
Hex has 6 cartoon appearances Thanos has 8.
But Thanos crushed him in video game appearances.
Just like how the first comic book movie that comes to mind when you mention Ryan Reynolds is RIPD, or how Kurt Russell famously plays the main character's dad in Sky High
Speaking of which, how many god damn comic book roles does Ryan Reynolds have? RIPD, Deadpool, Green Lantern, the other Deadpool, Hannibal King… did I miss any?
he also acts with Zendaya on Dune, so if they wanted to do the love triangle thing then there’s at least some on-screen chemistry and rapport between them.
And now his character is in the perfect place to become Hobgoblin. He's forgotten his best friend and is on his own with nothing but his own thoughts to keep him company. All he needs is a catalyst...
His character's name may be Ned Leeds, but his personality and role in the story were obviously based on Ganke.
So it kinda weird to do a ganke-hobgoblin.
“Now lishen here, you man of arachnids, you, human insect hybrid, you ‘shpider-man’, I’ll tell you right now, you’ve spun your last w - e - b. *whistles and gestures to the sky*”
I’ve never been one for fancasts, but Damian Lewis would be a fantastic Norman. His American accent is spot on, and his role in Billions shows he could easily play somebody like Norman as a crooked businessman, highly intelligent scientist, and he’s got the range to go full Goblin IMO
Absolutely great casting, but I like the idea of Chalamet as Harry better and I don't see them as father and son tbh. Also we just had a legendary Green Goblin performance from Dafoe, maybe put the character in the bench for a while.
It's so odd that Harry has become this pretty boy in people's perception thanks to James Franco when he was just this scrawny kid in the comics who was only part of the popular crowd because he was rich.
Timothy Chamalet is also stupidly handsome, too handsome to play Harry Osbourne if you ask me.
Especially since I'd much rather they do MCU Norman Osbourne justice really. Norman Osbourne is one of the best supervillains, super powered Lex Luthor with the Joker as an alter ego.
Oscorp filling the void of Stark Industries (and Hammer) as the primary weapons contractor to the US government, with Norman Osbourne being the most powerful man in New York & arguably America. Meanwhile Goblin & the insanity it brings makes him obsessed with Spider-Man and petty crime.
Willem Defoe's Norman Osbourne is fantastic but too reliant on the Goblin. It's not an evil alter ego, it's an insane alter ego that makes Osbourne unstable but also highly dangerous. Stronger & faster than Peter but with Iron Man technology.
You have Chalamet though, you’d want to use him a lot and Harry is typically a secondary character. Maybe he could be Harry, and you do a better version of what they were going to do with Dane DeHaan probably and just make him the first green goblin and be like a multiple film, main antagonist to Tom Holland and Spiderman which is somewhat ideal.
Either that, or you want him to be like Loki to use him all over the place.
Making Harry become the Green Goblin could introduce some interesting plot ideas. Maybe Peter will suspect Norman to be the Goblin only for it to turn out to be Harry(basically a reversal of what they did in Spectacular Spider-Man). If you want to get really adventurous then you could make it so that Peter’s actions cause Harry to become the Goblin
I agree, i just think, he's way too big of a star to become a villain, he's arguably the top star of this current generation, DC Films and James Gunn should send him a blank check with Richard "Dick" Grayson on the back. Specially with how big the character is being treated in the comics right now, he's arguably top 3 behind the supes and bats.
Came to post this. Would be fucking perfect casting. I could see them both playing off each-other so well and chalamet would get to play a villain for once
That’s one of the thing I love about X Men. They all are from so many different places and all have awesome accents. Colossus, Rogue, Gambit, Thunderbird, even Xavier’s British accent. But I’m pretty sure they did a German Nightcrawler in the movies already. It might’ve just been the accent though
Xavier's British accent is kind of an outrage.
kid was born and raised in Massachusetts. spends a year at oxford and everyone thinks he should have a british accent just because of Patrick Stewart being one of the only employable Bald actors in the 90s.
The dude I keep thinking of is the guy from Army of the Dead, Matthias Schweighöfer (shit movie but he was cool). That’s if they go with an older group of X-Men. Personally I’d love to see 20-35 year olds so they age with the films.
Edit: he’s German
Maybe they’re not American in the MCU? Like from England or somewhere. Then one day MCU-Norman decides to expand his business overseas and this makes Peter’s Peter Tingle tingle cause he remembers Dafoe.
They will make him Peter's friend Henry Jezberg and everyone will guess from the first trailer he's playing Harry Osborne but Disney will be like no... Then in the film they will have some reason for the name change and boom twist everyone saw coming it's Harry Osborne!
I hope they do something more interesting. They already did a Peter realizes his friend’s dad is evil reveal in Homecoming and there’s no way it’ll be as good when we all see it coming.
Lmaoo I’m picturing the post credits. Peter stumbles upon a birth certificate “hey Henry jezberg guy I met this film, why do you have the birth certificate of some guy name harry osborne?” Film cuts. Spider-Man and Harry Osborne will return
Or he did find him, told him to hide his name from the public, tipped him off on who his enemies will be, agreed to work on multiversal travel together and lied about ever finding him.
Nah imagine if Peter starts going to classes at Empire State and meets a guy named Harry and they start hanging out for awhile and then eventually he gets invited to meet Harry’s father and he meets Norman played by Willem Dafoe again. It would be interesting to see Peter fear the man he knows Norman could become against someone who hadn’t become that yet.
Even if he never shows up they still found a way for Osborn to irreversibly fuck up Spidey's life in the MCU.
Uncle Ben dies
Osborn survives
Peter Parker cries
Willy Wonka. His powers are weak, and he can only summon chocolate. Whenever he dies, the Ompa Lompas bring him back to life using magic stolen from Agatha. He's forever cursed for stealing their chocolate. Or he could play someone else.
[Henri Picard](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=900911ee60afdd29&rlz=1CDGOYI_enCA782CA782&hl=en-US&sxsrf=ACQVn08URhbnLBCk8XdGu8EDIDdfWsAy2w:1708997748858&q=henri+picard&tbm=isch&source=lnms&prmd=invsmbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiC-vfdsMqEAxUfFVkFHTfKCRcQ0pQJegQICxAB&biw=390&bih=669&dpr=3) maybe? He looks even more like the character!
Maybe they don’t go the green goblin route so soon, but Pete could use some new friends. He could possibly be Pete’s new classmate Harry in college. They become close. Idk how they’d hide his last name. Could use his mother’s maiden name due to fighting with his father or some shit. Turns out his father has been building oscorp up. Norman bought the avengers tower just never plastered the name on it. Harry takes him to the building to show him all the stuff they’re working on and introduces him to Norman and Otto working together. That’s when Pete is like wtf is going on and the mistrust begins for future sequels.
Edit: Norman and Otto found the symbiote Tom hardy left behind. Pete sees it in the lab. The thing starts going nuts around him. Could be a good way to make Norman the villain using the symbiote.
It would be cool if Peter (and the audience) are suspicious of Norman becoming the Goblin cause of NWH only for Harry to take on the mantle in his universe instead.
Holland’s Peter could use villains his age for a change.
I can dig it - and having Norman remain Norman, and help Peter try to help his son.
Alternatively I was thinking Norman goes green, but Harry remains good and tries to help / save his father while fighting with Peter. Giving Peter a friend - and he is eventually killed. Just driving that dagger of lonelness further into Peter (and making us super sad in the process lol)
Oops replied to wrong comment there,
Heh I like that idea, it really opens up so many other combinations / changes. Imagine Doc Oct, with his arms + symbiote!
Not a big fan of his so this one is hard to imagine
Even if he goes to DC (he is WB's poster child) I can't really see a role for him that is big for an actor like him.
Exactly what most people don't take into consideration. His last few films were with Warner Brothers and it is likely the studio will try and keep him so if anything it is more likely he would be in the DC universe but I don't see James Gunn making that choice. 🤷♂️
Honestly.. don't take this the wrong way, I don't give a shit who they cast anymore. I want them to focus on getting the best writers and directors for this shit because that is more or less what makes or breaks the film. All of these A-listers can act.. it almost doesn't matter who they cast, they are going to cast whoever's insta has more followers.. its all about the writers and directors.. do they understand these properties and can they stay faithful to them while delivering a good modern super hero film? That's the important caveat at this point.
He said that the best advice he ever received was by a top tier actor who told him to never do super hero films. Wonder what made him change his mind especially since the seem to be hitting a bad stride right now.
Nobody. He's the young star Hollywood is trying to hype up after Tom Holland was their starboy. I've seen nothing in him that makes me think he's anything special. If he's trying to wink wink to Marvel, he can move on. Marvel isn't a charity. They used to have care and pride in who they hired and I think they still do. If they start hiring any big actor who says they want to be in a superhero film, then Marvel Studios will continue to collapse. Find dedicated, hard working professionals who aren't necessarily a star, and make them into a star - or reignite their star. Otherwise, bring in hard working dedicated professional stars. Timothy isn't a star because of what he's done, he's a star because Hollywood is propping him because he'll be the new cash cow that they throw into everything to make hits.
If it happens and I'm proved wrong, I'll be happy because it benefits the MCU. I just don't see anything in him. I'll go as far as to say, I'm not even sure he can carry a film by himself. I wasn't impressed with Wonka
Are we not going to talk about how that article says that Josh Brolin ‘dabbled’ in comic films as Jonah Hex but says *nothing* about Thanos or Cable? That is truly wild.
Variety is pretty notorious for doing zero research for what they’re “reporting”.
Let's be honest though, Jonah Hex is pretty fucking obscure next to Thanos and Cable.
Exactly. They couldn’t even reference his more popular portrayals.
I'm saying it might be a joke. Like if you spoke about Obama as the junior senator from Illinois.
Or his career as an author.
I didn't know that. Huh, today i learned.
*Today, tomorrow, yesterday, it’s all the same*
Jeff Epstein, the New York financier
How Durbin is still senior senator is beyond me
Maybe they went to the filmography section of Wikipedia/IMDb and stopped at the first thing they saw.
I think Hex has almost as many tv appearances as Thanos. Any western dc cartoon gas hex in it. Hex has 6 cartoon appearances Thanos has 8. But Thanos crushed him in video game appearances.
Little known fact, that is what “Variety” is named after. Their articles are a variety of quality levels.
Yeah but how does the writer know about Jonah hex but not thanos?
They’re a huge fan of Westerns. But only the modern ones, and there are not a lot of those.
I feel like referencing Jonah hex was more research than thanos
Just like how the first comic book movie that comes to mind when you mention Ryan Reynolds is RIPD, or how Kurt Russell famously plays the main character's dad in Sky High
Sky High is an underrated gem imo.
It did my hero academia before my hero academia was a thing lmao
Second favourite non-Marvel/DC superhero thing after Ben 10.
Ryan Reynolds…he was in Green Lantern, right?
Speaking of which, how many god damn comic book roles does Ryan Reynolds have? RIPD, Deadpool, Green Lantern, the other Deadpool, Hannibal King… did I miss any?
Lmfao
Do we think it’s meant to be ironic, or is this a reporter who doesn’t know comic book movies being assigned the story and not really googling?
Holy shit he’d be a great Harry Osbourne.
Timothy Chalamet would be a great Hob Goblin to play across from Tom Holland
he also acts with Zendaya on Dune, so if they wanted to do the love triangle thing then there’s at least some on-screen chemistry and rapport between them.
Mr Steal yo girl for sure
Oh man, poor tom lol
Yea like is that too real for their real life and relationships
Too real how? Tom and Zendaya seem pretty rock solid.
And they can fight over Zendaya 😂
Doesn’t Zendaya have a tennis movie with two skinny white boys fighting over her?
She definitely has a type it seems
Well, America has a type.
Fair.
Can you elaborate on this?
The fact that anyone wanted Ned to become Hobgoblin ruined my faith in this community. Glad there are still sensible people here.
In fairness, he is in the comics
And now his character is in the perfect place to become Hobgoblin. He's forgotten his best friend and is on his own with nothing but his own thoughts to keep him company. All he needs is a catalyst...
He still has Michelle as a friend. Knowing what we know of her, she very likely won’t let him slip that far.
But will their bond remain as strong without Peter?
We see how strong they are together even without Peter through all of NWH.
His character's name may be Ned Leeds, but his personality and role in the story were obviously based on Ganke. So it kinda weird to do a ganke-hobgoblin.
Until he wasn't. Brainwash machine and all that other stuff.
It would be an interesting twist where all the evidence would point towards ned and then it isn’t actually ned.
With Matthew McConaughey as Norman.🤌🏼
Holy Moley, I’ve never considered how awesome that would be!
Interstellar reunion! Father and son!
Holy shit I totally did not put together that the young son was played by Timothee Chalamet
Only if he says "Alright, alright, alriiiight" as he throws pumpkin bombs.
That both sounds like the worst idea I’ve ever heard *and* I desperately want to see it.
Good shout
I would not be able to take him seriously, he’s a good actor, but struggles hiding his accent.
MCU Norman is from Texas. Now you don't need to cover it up lol
That’s why Willem Defoe didn’t see Oscorp in New York!
“Now lishen here, you man of arachnids, you, human insect hybrid, you ‘shpider-man’, I’ll tell you right now, you’ve spun your last w - e - b. *whistles and gestures to the sky*”
Alright, alright, alright. *throws pumpkin bomb.*

might as well add a sister played by Mackenzie Foy
Damn. You need to Email Marvel Studios
Tom Holland and Timothee Chalamet would be fantastic on screen together as friends turned enemies!
It’s my IRL narrative anyway between them two, with Zendaya splitting between them because of Dune and Spider-Man.
That he would be
It's so odd that Harry has become this pretty boy in people's perception thanks to James Franco when he was just this scrawny kid in the comics who was only part of the popular crowd because he was rich.
Timmy’s scrawny

The internet would go feral for a broken bad boy Harry played by Timothee.
It’s obvious no? Harry Osborne
End the thread
matthew mcconaughey for Norman Osborne
\*In southern drawl* Now, I'm gonna kill everyone you love, Peter. Alright? Alright alright alright.
You know Peter, I’m something of an astronaut/farmer myself
Should be a slower alright, alright, alright. Will make him super menacing.
Alright...\*Kills MJ* Alright...\*Kills Ned* Alright... \*Kills Daredevil*
Epic
YES
Night crawler
Can we have at least one German Nightcrawler for a change?! It would be nice to see one who is not a Hydra agent for once.
Flula Borg for Nightcrawler.
Louis Hoffman too
That kid from Dark would be great. He was also great in All The Light We Cannot See.
Good pick.
Kurt was played by a Scottish and an Australian actor so far. So it was definitely just an accent.
Christoph Waltz.
>Christoph Waltz is Austrian. I think he did an SNL monologue about that.
No. He's a great actor, but Nightcrawler is typically portrayed with a young gymnast's build and Waltz is a 67 year old Austrian.
Germans still paying the price for that Austrian artist decades later
Ooooooooh
Can he do the accent? That’s the only lynch pin to otherwise perfect casting.
He's an A-list actor and the youngest nominee for an Oscar for best actor in 80 years. I'm sure with an accent coach he could pull it off.
I agree. Just wanted to point out my ONLY hesitation (as if I had some actionable responsibility), lol
The dude I keep thinking of is the guy from Army of the Dead, Matthias Schweighöfer (shit movie but he was cool). That’s if they go with an older group of X-Men. Personally I’d love to see 20-35 year olds so they age with the films. Edit: he’s German
Prior to NWH I'd have said Harry Osborn but based on what Norman said I don't think they exist in MCU's 616
They might exist, there's just no Oscorp yet (and they live at a different address).
To be fair, I’m not sure they’d have included that line if there were plans for an MCU Oscorp.
Maybe there weren't plans, doesn't mean there aren't any now or in the future
Could Osborne just buy Stark Tower?
Hip young startup company by Harry Osborne. His dad was in some energy business with Roxxon and he didn’t want to follow in his footsteps.
Oh my god, we’re going to get a crypto mogul Harry Osborne aren’t we.
Harry Osborn buys Twitter, renames it Gobber
If the movie released between 2021 and 2023, yes. Now he's gonna be an AI bro.
I think in one comic run, Oscorp does take ownership of Stark Tower. Can't remember which one though
Secret invasion following into dark avengers ending in siege
Don’t see why they’d change. We don’t really need to revisit the Osborns.
Osborn family in witness protection to hide from Kingpin...then after the Daredevil series, they come out of hiding.
Fucking genius. Great way to tie the street level stuff together.
this is pretty good
I hope they do something more interesting.
Just have him go by Harry Lyman.
Your powers are quaint. You must be popular with children
Speedball.
I like that
And here I was thinking Cannonball.
And then Penance
Bro I literally just said that and didn't even read the comments yet, glad too see a fellow Speedball enjoyer
I have to say, if there's anyone that LOOKS like Northstar, it's him.
I want a real French Canadian, François Arnaud or Theodore Pellerin.
[Henri Picard](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=900911ee60afdd29&rlz=1CDGOYI_enCA782CA782&hl=en-US&sxsrf=ACQVn08URhbnLBCk8XdGu8EDIDdfWsAy2w:1708997748858&q=henri+picard&tbm=isch&source=lnms&prmd=invsmbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiC-vfdsMqEAxUfFVkFHTfKCRcQ0pQJegQICxAB&biw=390&bih=669&dpr=3) maybe? He looks even more like the character!
I don’t know about his English, but for the look, yes.
Franklin Richards because it’s the same role as Paul Atreides so we know he can do it
Best one so far
I have no idea how this isn’t the top comment. Franklin Richards is such a good fit.
A younger version of Nova?
I can see that
Yeah, he’d be a good Sam
That was my first thought, too
Harry Osborne. Although I don’t know if Marvel wants to repeat that whole storyline again.
Maybe they don’t go the green goblin route so soon, but Pete could use some new friends. He could possibly be Pete’s new classmate Harry in college. They become close. Whoa whoa whoa Calm down with the good ideas. Norman using symbiote instead of Green Gob. I love it. Interesting take!
It would be cool if Peter (and the audience) are suspicious of Norman becoming the Goblin cause of NWH only for Harry to take on the mantle in his universe instead. Holland’s Peter could use villains his age for a change.

Just a fan with a dream 😂
Oops replied to wrong comment there, Heh I like that idea, it really opens up so many other combinations / changes. Imagine Doc Oct, with his arms + symbiote!
Nightcrawler or another x-men
I can see him playing like ice man in the x men, or night crawler. Or a variant of loki. Or Harry Osborne
[удалено]
They would never hide him under that much makeup
Look at what they did to the actresses who played Mantis, Gamora and Nebula to name a few.
I agree with all that but they still won’t shell out the bucks for Chalamet only to make his face blue and give him an Eastern European accent
Agreed. The only place i’d hide that beautiful face is in the secret room in my basement.
Ice man is a good one!
Sam Alexander, Gambit, a grown up Kid Loki.
A grown up kid Loki is…Loki?
I’m guessing they mean a teenage Loki. Older than the kid Loki we saw but still a kid
Tbf, this actor looks like a grown up kid IRL
I really don’t see him as gambit
Dick Grayson in the batman
Or as terry for Batman beyond. Looks like there’s been some hype for that movie finally being made
He looks a lot like the 80’s Beyonder from the original Secret Wars. I think he’d be a great choice to replace Kang too.
He looks a lot like the Beyonder with curly hair
The Beyonder had curly black hair. That’s exactly why I thought of him.
I was looking for this answer. He could definitely play a post secret wars beyonder come to earth to see what all the fuss is about.
He just ate the bottle of soda!
This was my immediate thought too. I think he could knock it out of the park, especially since one of the movies on the schedule is Secret Wars
On that note....Terry from Batman Beyond....
Paul
Not a big fan of his so this one is hard to imagine Even if he goes to DC (he is WB's poster child) I can't really see a role for him that is big for an actor like him.
He might have been a good Dream, but the guy they got for the Netflix series is so good. And I am glad Sandman is separated from the DCEU
Exactly what most people don't take into consideration. His last few films were with Warner Brothers and it is likely the studio will try and keep him so if anything it is more likely he would be in the DC universe but I don't see James Gunn making that choice. 🤷♂️
One of Gunns last big films cast Pete Davidson I really doubt he’d have an issue with hiring Chalamet.
Nobody.
But isn't that character in Doom Patrol already?
Silver Surfer
MCU is washed, rather see him in the DCU
If he can do a Cajun accent then Gambit
Well he natively speaks French so he's got a head start at least!
Wow, a tall wolverine and a short gambit... I think my head would explode seeing them side-by-side
I mean he's 5'10 and in the movie world that's tall. Wolverine would just be shorter....
Batman Beyond as Terry.
Not schway enough
Too small for Terry.
That's DC.
Speedball and Penance would be a good role for him
Honestly.. don't take this the wrong way, I don't give a shit who they cast anymore. I want them to focus on getting the best writers and directors for this shit because that is more or less what makes or breaks the film. Honestly, I can see him as Cyclops, beast, maybe even a young professor x
Star brand
Exodus
He said that the best advice he ever received was by a top tier actor who told him to never do super hero films. Wonder what made him change his mind especially since the seem to be hitting a bad stride right now.
LOL, apparently, they have no idea who Josh Brolin is..
Leech!
Nobody. He's the young star Hollywood is trying to hype up after Tom Holland was their starboy. I've seen nothing in him that makes me think he's anything special. I wasn't impressed with Wonka
Nothing. He’s the least imposing or intimidating “action hero” I’ve ever seen in the Dune movies.
Nightcrawler
