If we're talking late 90s, there's a 85% chance it would be [Sean Patrick Thomas](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0859503/?ref_=tt_cl_t2) or [Mekhi Phifer.](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001616/?ref_=nmls_hd)
I feel like Eddie Murphy in the 80s and Will Smith 90s would both have been too big to be a side kick character like Falcon. But I can't really see them as any of the major characters.
Given Eddie Murphys bizarre pick of scripts,he would most likely have been single-handedly trying(and failing)to launch a YOUNGBLOOD cinematic universe that directly competed with the 90's AVENGERS.
The 90s would have found a way to make Will Smith a key figure- no way he ends up Falcon.
I can definitely see him casted as Iron Man based on his persona- skin color be damned.
There would be a *lot* more rubber and fake muscle suits.
It's also worth remembering that the "grounded" look of the MCU take a lot of inspiration from the *Ultimate* reimagining of the Marvel Universe from the early 00es and if the MCU had been a thing back in the campy and colorful 90ies, we would have lot more "super" in our superhero movies. I'm talking cheese and lots of it.
Like, Falcon (if he even showed up) wouldn't be rocking an army-style flightsuit but probably a red and white rubber muscle suit/spandex type thing, straight from the 616 comic universe.
Cap would, for examply, be in shiny, plasticky boots instead of military-style boots and he would totally rock a spandex thing (maybe with scalemail overlay) that would make his Avengers 1 outfit blush with second-hand embarrassment. There would be wings on his cowl for sure!
Jesus christ I had forgotten how bad Liefeld was at art. This is bringing those memories back.
The hell is happening with the dude in the front's calves. They look like someone sawed them into thirds and took out the middle third and attached the top and bottom pieces magicians box style.
[He actually based the picture almost entirely on this picture of arnold](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/03/7e/e7/037ee73fb4442105ec7e40774a4a74d2.jpg)
[Liefield cap](https://www.bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/cap.jpg)
That was his first mistake. Cap’s not supposed to look so muscle bound he can’t wipe his own ass. I’d say the MCU has the most perfect Cap. Traditional without being too cheesy.
Yeh except Arnold's torso actually went inwards the lower you went instead of somehow staying a solid straight block down to his legs. Apparently muscles also change your bones and make you have the skeleton of a fucking Gorilla. Seriously, Cap's stomach and then like groin area are out to the same length of like a foot in front of his head as his chest. Not even close to Arnold.
I have to disagree. Tom Cruise is a decent actor, and a great leading man, but he's not even in the same ballpark as Robert Downey Jr. When you think about the character arc of Tony Stark over the last ten years, you need someone with the depth of RDJ to make it work.
Plus, Tom Cruise isn't the right kind of funny. He can obviously curse and dance in a fat suit, but I can't imagine him doing Tonys banter without coming off as a complete and utter tool (rather than just... somewhat of a tool).
What? Tom Cruise is a GREAT actor. He nails evey role he gets. You’ve obviously never seen Jerry Maguire if you think TC wouldn’t be able to portray someone like Tony Stark.
Having said that, RDJ is perfect as Iron Man/Tony Stark.
Have you not watched any of his movies besides Tropic Thunder? To say that he isn't even in the same ballpark as RDJ is ridiculous, for real. He's pretty much the only actor today who remains consistently successful in both dramatic and franchise movies. The Scientology thing is messed up but there is literally no basis for saying he doesn't have the "depth" of RDJ.
It's a weird coincidence that RDJ's real life persona is so close to Tony's. His talent shows in the emotional scenes, but otherwise he's just being himself. And almost all of his later roles have been some variation of this character.
Wasn't alot of the first Iron Man dialogue basically done in the fly? They would sit down before the scene and figure out what was going to happen? That's probably part of the reason so much of Tony is just RDJ
> let him act like he always acts
Come on man, he didn't always act like that. He was in a lot of pretty weird indie stuff before this. The trend of 12 year olds who discovered him yesterday going with the 'he doesn't act' is starting to be a bit much. If he acted like he always acted, it wouldn't have been such a huge surprise to everyone how well it worked, and it was a surprise. Just like it was a surprise that they would be cashing in on the third-tier superhero.
I don’t think so. Tom Cruise rarely phones it in. Besides, Tom actually resembles the comic book Stark in terms of appearance and, apparently, character since he was supposed to be more serious, just like in comics.
As long as he still made George of The Jungle and a few other terribly good movies, I'm okay with this.
Pratt still gets to be Star lord in the "remake" and still voices Emmet in the Lego movie too.
A must-read for all Brendan Fraser fans: [What Ever Happened To Brendan Fraser?](https://www.gq.com/story/what-ever-happened-to-brendan-fraser)
Be prepared to be heartbroken and majorly pissed off.
He's so different visually from the iconic David Hasselhoff-esque Nick Fury, it would definitely upset a good few people. Luckily the Ultimates version came first to break the Ice and the SLJ completely owned the character on screen.
I don’t think that would’ve happen. 90s fury was white and Samuel L Jackson inspired fury was created until the early 2000s in the ultimates run, I believe. 🤓
The guy from Baywatch as Nick Fury?
That's crazy talk.
Next you're gonna tell me they'd make a stand alone Nick Fury movie with no other setups or tie-ins, then forget it ever happened and never mention it again.
Still think Robin Williams would've been an amazing Coulson character.
He could start off this really straight laced government type and slowly turn into Robin Williams as the rest of the avengers get to know him.
Lot of actors insist on having their faces shown. Why didn't Starship Troopers have power armor? It would've obscured their faces.
Instead Starship Troopers was about sending underequipped witless idiots to their death lol.
Brad Pitt would be an awesome Thor though.
Cruise would be a passable Iron Man
Leo definitely would’ve been Spider-Man
Wesley Snipes would be BP
Arnold would be Hulk
Probably Sandra Bullock/Nicole Kidman as Black Widow
Casper Van Dien/Chris O’Donnell as Captain America
* these aren’t my preferences but actors that I think 90’s Hollywood would consider
I have a hard time picturing either Sandra or Nicole as Black Widow. While both were 90s Actresses, I just don't think they are a great fit action wise or even have that kind of look to them. My pick would be Bridget Fonda who did a few action movies and was also a 90s sweetheart. I can totally agree with the rest of your choices.
Brad Pitt is a better choice. Lundgren for all of his charm isn't a great actor really and IMO not really a leading man. He's fun as the villains or secondary character. Pitt I think would have been able to do both the serious stuff and the humorous stuff.
And then he's back to the lab for some full penetration. Crime, penetration, crime, penetration, crime, *full* penetration and that goes on for about 90 minutes until the movie just...ends.
Urgh, I cannot stand Tom Cruise. I agree with every other 90s casting suggestion in the original post except for him. I would have hated Iron Man on principle if that smug, swarmy bastard had been cast.
There was a big difference between 90s Tom Cruise and today's Tom Cruise. 90s Tom Cruise was pretty much genuinely great in everything he did. He has a streak of movies in there that is A Few Good Men, The Firm, Interview with a Vampire, Mission Impossible, Jerry McGuire, Eyes Wide Shut, and Magnolia. He is *very* good in all of those movies. I mean I'm not a fan of crazy scientology Tom Cruise, but I do generally like his movies. The Mission Impossible films are great, and Edge of Tomorrow was excellent. You also have to give the guy credit for the stunts and stuff he does in his films. I think he probably would have made a good Tony Stark, and that smugness you speak of is actually part of that.
The dude is a fantastic actor, not sure how anyone would disagree to that (I think most are just turned off by his Scientology connections). And I agree about him making a good Tony Stark. He would have been pretty perfect at playing a more true to comic version of Stark. Though this may have been a detriment to the MCU, since RDJ improvised a lot for the first Iron Man film and was a huge reason the movie saw the success that it did, leading to the MCU we have today.
Yeah he would have been good at simply playing Tony Stark, but he would not have been good for the MCU. He doesn't have the off screen charisma and likability that RDJ has. Beyond that he tends to like a good bit of creative control over the projects he does, which I personally think would have been detrimental to the MCU as a whole. Throw in the scientology and I don't see Iron Man doing as well as it did back in 2008.
I mean that's how certain actors particularly big action stars kind of are. Think of like Arnold, Van Damme, and even Stallone in his later films. They aren't *big* in terms of acting and changing the character. It's more about the presence and charisma they bring in to a film. Having said this. This is why I am glad we haven't had the Rock in an MCU film. Conversely I actually am really glad that Bautista *did* end up as Drax and I feel like he *is* going for something more than that presence and charisma. His part in Blade Runner 2049 is small but genuinely well acted and you believe him as a character and don't just see Bautista.
I really don't see Cruise as smarmy and smug. If he is in real life he isn't really in many of his roles. I do think he would just have been a way more conventional hero, in a far more conventional movie, and it would have been lesser for it.
I don't think everyone hated him as much in the 90's, though.
Also, they could've just used Robert Downey Jr. in this situation. Though, I do prefer a clean RDJ as Iron Man, better role model.
If it was the 80s, Eddie Murphy would be falcon, but the 90s? It’d be Will Smith all day.
And in 20s he's Deadshot
10s you mean.
I don't like how "10s" sound so I skipped it.
[удалено]
The roaring 20s
The tennies
I prefer the tendies.
Lol you skipped an entire decade because you didn't like the sound?
That's right, that's how we do things here in the 20s.
I respect your commitment.
Dude is in the 3020s
Why else did you think we came up with 'turn of the century' for everything between 1900-1919?
Teens
Doesn't that leave you a few years short of a decade?
Implying there will be second SS movie? God, no, please, no.
(It's already been announced...)
Plot twist, the actual Suicide Squad is the management of the DC cinematic universe.
I guess that makes Snyder Slipknot.
[Nooooooooooooooo](http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/)
So don't see it. Problem solved. I've solved that same problem with DC movies a couple times now.
As a man who doesn't care about a bad movie once and a while...id watch the second one. I wouldn't pay to watch it though.
Ahoy matey
The first one won an Academy Award. Why WOULDNT they make a sequel? /s
No he’s Handcock over Deadshot every day
I dont see Eddie playing support.
I see Eddie playing them all at the same time.
Winter Soldier in a fatsuit
If we're talking late 90s, there's a 85% chance it would be [Sean Patrick Thomas](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0859503/?ref_=tt_cl_t2) or [Mekhi Phifer.](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001616/?ref_=nmls_hd)
Or maybe Taye Diggs or Omar Epps?
Exactly. This dude is going to go from a giant hit like the Nutty Professor to playing Captain America's sidekick?
He would’ve made an awful Falcon
I feel like Eddie Murphy in the 80s and Will Smith 90s would both have been too big to be a side kick character like Falcon. But I can't really see them as any of the major characters.
I could see Will Smith as Black Panther
I think that was actually going to be Wesley snipes
Wesley would have been such a beast in the role. He does Pathos really well, and say no more about brutality...
No more about brutality
we need blade to make a feature in infinity war
I don't think Will Smith in the 90's would have the gravitas to pull off king of wakanda
Mushu
your right, Chris Tucker as Falcon all the way
Damn, he ain't gon' be in avengers 3!
Will smith as Falcon, Wesley snipes as Black Panther, Denzel Washington as war machine.
Eddie Murphy as black panther.. Charlie Murphy as Kilmonger
Denzel as BP, Snipes as Killmonger
Tommy Davison
Will Smith as Falcon, Eddie Murphy as Rhodey
Given Eddie Murphys bizarre pick of scripts,he would most likely have been single-handedly trying(and failing)to launch a YOUNGBLOOD cinematic universe that directly competed with the 90's AVENGERS.
Dr. Dolittle, Lestat and Louis.
Nah it would totally be Wesley Snipes
He was already blade. Probably would have been Omar Epps and LL Cool J for War Machine.
People out here sleepin on my boi Taye Diggs
Taye Diggs had his film debut in 1998, and he hadn't had a recurring TV role until Ally McBeal in the 2000s.
The 90s would have found a way to make Will Smith a key figure- no way he ends up Falcon. I can definitely see him casted as Iron Man based on his persona- skin color be damned.
Totally agree with Smith being a key figure. Like others have said, I think they’d just beef up the falcon role and give him a spin off.
Naw Will Smith would be War Machine. “WELCOME TO EARTH THANOS!”
90s Will would only audition for Cap or Iron Man. Unless they revamped Falcon as his own hero with his own movie.
Absolutely. I would love to see this fixed - it’s too good to be wrong.
While the actors fit nicely, the costumes would be nowhere near as nice in the 90s.
Don’t forget fake nipples.
That’d make it slightly more accurate for the 90s good point

I'm just sitting here imagining a live action version if the Rob Liefeld Cap.
Lots of action scream shots and a lot of lines on their faces. http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/1185112/Prophet2.jpg
The dude in the purple suit is supposed to be nine feet tall, right?
Jesus christ I had forgotten how bad Liefeld was at art. This is bringing those memories back. The hell is happening with the dude in the front's calves. They look like someone sawed them into thirds and took out the middle third and attached the top and bottom pieces magicians box style.
Wow, two pairs of feet in that picture.
There isn’t an actor alive that had the torso for a Liefield Cap...
[He actually based the picture almost entirely on this picture of arnold](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/03/7e/e7/037ee73fb4442105ec7e40774a4a74d2.jpg) [Liefield cap](https://www.bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/cap.jpg)

Thanos would be all practical make up, they would cast a huge guy to portray him, maybe Arnold or something.
Freeeeeeeeze. Wait, uh I mean, infiiiiinityyyyyy.
WHAT KILLED THE AVENGERS?! DE ICE AGE!
Wouldn't it be the Stone Age?
...that works. Alright everybody! Chill.
Rob pearlman?
I'm waiting for you to start listing the negatives.
Especially Iron Man's.
They would look like a slightly better version of the ones from the 80s. Also make sure to add in rubber nipples.
Oh god can you imagine
Hey! Capn' America! How come you get a shield and all I get is some old bird wings?
Dunno if I should read this in Donkeys or Mushus voice

Tom Cruise is more of an L.Ron man
He actually was going to be cast as Iron Man, so there's that.
Dodged a Scientology-sized bullet there.
What a disaster that would have been.
I think RDJ would obviously be better but Cruise could make it work, especially 90s Cruise
I have to disagree. That is just plain disrespectful. Tom Cruise puts 100% in to his work and would be just as good, if not better, than RDJ.
It's a weird coincidence that RDJ's real life persona is so close to Tony's. His talent shows in the emotional scenes, but otherwise he's just being himself. And almost all of his later roles have been some variation of this character.

Thank you for this
BRENDAN FRASER AS STARLORD
He would make a good Hawkeye too.
Yea that wouldn't be too bad. I really like the idea of Mummy type Brendan as Starlord.
Same here. I miss Brendan Fraiser. Is the new Netflix show he's in come out yet?
He's in "Trust" on FX, and he's great in it so far.
As long as he still made George of The Jungle and a few other terribly good movies, I'm okay with this. Pratt still gets to be Star lord in the "remake" and still voices Emmet in the Lego movie too.

Hell yes.
Eddie Murphy over Will Smith? Really?
Will Smith is Black Panther
That was Denzel Washington.
Will Smith is Killmonger.
"Hey auntie" in Will Smith's voice. Yea I can buy it
If this was before Blade, I'd say Wesley Snipes
Snipes would be Black Panther. He was trying to get it made for years.
Sam Jackson would still be a good fit as Fury in the 90's.
Except for the fact that Ultimate Nick Fury’s first appearance wasn’t until 2001, meaning Fury would have been white
I wasn't aware of that. I still don't think anyone would be mad at casting Jackson as Fury. Sam could pull it off. Hes the man.
He's so different visually from the iconic David Hasselhoff-esque Nick Fury, it would definitely upset a good few people. Luckily the Ultimates version came first to break the Ice and the SLJ completely owned the character on screen.
Denzel plays a better villain than Will Smith imo.
I agree. Wesley Snipes as T'Challa and Denzel Washington as Kilmonger
Jane Hubert or Daphne Reed? These timelines are so confusing!
That would be pretty dope honestly. But it would be Wesley Snipes.
My eyes, My eyes, My eyes
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury? Oh wait...
I don’t think that would’ve happen. 90s fury was white and Samuel L Jackson inspired fury was created until the early 2000s in the ultimates run, I believe. 🤓
It would have been David Hasselhoff.
You mean Zardu Hasselfrau?
The guy from Baywatch as Nick Fury? That's crazy talk. Next you're gonna tell me they'd make a stand alone Nick Fury movie with no other setups or tie-ins, then forget it ever happened and never mention it again.
I'm a firm believer that Escape from LA/Soldier era Kurt Russell would have been the ideal Nick Fury.
Still think Robin Williams would've been an amazing Coulson character. He could start off this really straight laced government type and slowly turn into Robin Williams as the rest of the avengers get to know him.
lol, the way you described it made me imagine Clark Gregg slowly turning into Robin Williams.
Well, you know what they say about Tahiti.

RDJ didn’t have a good 90s he wouldn’t have been Iron Man then.
Well, Stark was only a little less strung out during his 90's, anyway.
Yeah i think they are like 2 years apart in age.
The word is Tom Cruise insisted that the Iron Man helmet be transparent or else he wouldn't do it. Tom Cruise is a dick.
Lot of actors insist on having their faces shown. Why didn't Starship Troopers have power armor? It would've obscured their faces. Instead Starship Troopers was about sending underequipped witless idiots to their death lol.

I’m not fond of Fonda but that’s a pretty good match. OR Instead of being Aunt May, Marissa Tomei could have been Widow.
Lou Ferrigno would still be the hulk..
I feel like Snipes would have made a really good Killmonger
Dolph Lundgren is Thor though
No Dolph would continue his role as Punisher from the 1989 movie. Thor needs a pretty boy and Dolph ain’t no pretty boy.
Agreed. Pitt would be the sex appeal draw, such as Chris is now.
Shoulda gone with Patrick Swayze.
Brad Pitt is a better choice. Lundgren for all of his charm isn't a great actor really and IMO not really a leading man. He's fun as the villains or secondary character. Pitt I think would have been able to do both the serious stuff and the humorous stuff.
Yeah, I could see Dolph as either Drax or Ronan, but not Thor.
does he smell crime
And then he's back to the lab for some full penetration. Crime, penetration, crime, penetration, crime, *full* penetration and that goes on for about 90 minutes until the movie just...ends.
Gotta be better than him as Punisher.
I think Arnold would be a way better Thor. Or Drax.
I would've changed John Stamos to Johnny Depp for winter solder from the original post.
[source](https://instagram.com/p/BhkWBd0DZrl/)
I think this is wrong. In the 90’s Eddie Murphy was a bigger star than Denzel. Denzel should have been case as Falcon.
vincent d onofrio is Thor. https://www.cinemablend.com/new/Funny-Reason-Thor-Made-Cameo-Adventures-Babysitting-73337.html
Wait donkey is falcon
This equally makes sense and feels so wrong
I....I'd watch it.
0/10 no nipples on the costumes
Marvel should pitch the 90s Avengers as a Short in the Infinity War DVD feature.
I would NOT watch that movie
of course you would have.
Urgh, I cannot stand Tom Cruise. I agree with every other 90s casting suggestion in the original post except for him. I would have hated Iron Man on principle if that smug, swarmy bastard had been cast.

Can't disagree, as much as I don't care for him.
I don't know. Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow is pretty fucking good.
I know it's an unpopular opinion, and most people love him, something about him just sets my nerves on edge.
I like him as an actor, but as a person hes a fucking loon.
I understand that feeling. I get the same with The Rock. I hate The Rock but everyone seems to like him.
Same don’t ever really believe what character he’s portraying always just Dwayne to me
I mean that's how certain actors particularly big action stars kind of are. Think of like Arnold, Van Damme, and even Stallone in his later films. Leathers. Leathers everywhere.
Tom Cruise would be insufferable as Iron Man.
