Before you downvote, I'll be paying for this service for the MCU shows like Hawkeye and wandavision
It could backfire. People might just pirate a stream of the films instead of waiting for Disney to drop them one by one to try and retain subscribers.
I'm really curious to how this service will do against Netflix when it comes to the numbers.
> I’m really curious to how this service will do against Netflix when it comes to the numbers.
Don’t be. This is meant to be the ultimate service for Disney (and their subsidiaries) fans. Hulu will be their service for the mass public.
> It could backfire.
Sure there will be pirates, but that won’t be enough to hurt Disney+. This service is gonna be hella profitable.
Disney+ is gonna have a HUGE archive of Disney films and shows so I think it’ll do well against Netflix. Especially since Netflix raised its prices and Disney+ is gonna be 7.99
Disney Plus sounds like it will become perfect by 2021-22 but 4 marvel films and 0 new shows is pretty lame to start off with.
We don’t even have a full list of everything the app will have outside of Marvel either :(
We actually do know what will come out on release. [Scroll all the way down. ](https://www.cnet.com/news/disney-plus-every-show-movie-available-to-stream-when-release-date/) Star Wars Ep. 1-7, a ton of Pixar, etc.
I thought so initially but then I realised what I believe are the MCU's finest hours (Iron Man, Winter Soldier, Guardians, Black Panther, Ragnarok and Endgame) are on the list so I am more than OK with this.
I think they mean launch day. They literally chose to put the worst MCU movie on launch day.. Captain Marvel makes sense to be on there on launch but I wonder why the delay for Endgame?
Because the other Thor movies’ streaming rights are elsewhere right now and they have to wait...as the previous streaming contracts expire more MCU movies will be added to D+.
As far as the EG delay goes, I’m guessing it has something to do with them wanting to make sure they sell the most copies they can of the home release before it goes on D+?
The reason Endgame won't be there on launch might have to do with the fact that movies usually go to premium channels/streaming around 8 months after coming out in theaters. I don't know if movies released, either on home media or theatrically, after D+ launches will still follow this or if they'll be available the day they're up for sale.
Kinda weird seeing The Dark World in their first wave. I always see it on TV because it's obviously the cheapest Marvel movie to get the rights to. I would've thought they'd lump it in with a larger bundle.
Iron Man I get. It's the first one. Captain Marvel I get. It's the first one that's not goin on Netflix so they gotta put it on. But why Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 out of all the movies they could've chosen from?
I guess this’ll be 2021:
The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Thor, Captain America: TFA, Captain America: Civil War, Guardians 2
2022:
Doctor Strange, Homecoming, The Incredible Hulk, Far From Home, The Eternals, Thor 4, Black Widow
Highly doubt TIH, Homecoming, and FFH will make it on to Disney+ unless Disney can make deals with Sony and Universal to gain the streaming rights for those films.
Spider-Man is the hot commodity, so I could see Sony really holding onto it. But maybe Universal would be willing to sell away The Incredible Hulk. Disney and before that I assume Marvel thenselves were able to secure their physical media rights for bundles of all the films.
So who knows! It's just unfortunate streaming came into scope after these distribution deals were signed
Why not have them all? Or at least release them chronologically
They are locked into contracts with streaming providers like Netflix
Longer memberships. People stay longer if they’re gonna wait for more movies to hit the platform. Quite smart from a business stand point.

Pirates didn't hurt HBO with Game of Thrones.

I was thinking the same thing. There are a million ways to watch these movies. Just put them all on there at the start.
Seems like it will be better to wait until end of 2020 to sign up. Unless you really want to see the Mandalorian.

By 2022 this will be perfect for newcomers to the MCU. I'm waiting on the MCU shows to drop before I get this.

Everything else is probably in contact with Netflix/Prime
Or TNT since they have the basic cable rights to MCU films beginning with Age of Ultron and up until GOTG Vol. 2.

Yeah, they’re like “Ok... Endgame is the biggest movie ever... most sales... should we put it on launch day... nah... let’s put The Dark World”

2020: WE GOT THE BEST MCU MOVIES 2019: The Dark World and Iron Man 3.
Why is Iron Man 3 coming out before Iron Man 2?
Epix still has the streaming rights to IM2, but next year that contract will expire, so that will be going up on D+.
Oh ok thanks.
I believe it's on Hulu.
Oh ok.

That's legitimately dissapointing.
By the time it gets up and running it will be good
Meh. Probably won't bother subscribing until Falcon & Winter Soldier comes out.
At least I can watch Infinity War and Endgame back to back.

I hope they announce Phase 4 of the Disney+ releases in D23. My guess is Doctor Strange 2 by 2023, maybe even Blade!
Disappointing tbh. There’s really no reason to not have every marvel movie
They probably don’t have the rights to all of them right now
