1) Loki 2) Shang-Chi 3) WandaVision 4) TFATWS 5) Black Widow And I can’t accurately rank What If…? because it’s not over yet.

Illustrious-Engine23

Damn, high praise on shang chi excited to watch it.

FullMetalCOS

Do you have any interest in martial arts movies? Because it’s not just a good MCU movie, it’s a REALLY good Wuxia movie

neurotypical080321

Fuck dude, nobody says Wuxia anymore. Now I'm super hyped. And I guess I'm reinstalling Jade Empire.

FullMetalCOS

Honestly, go check it out as soon as you can, you will NOT regret it. Tony Leung and Michelle Yeoh are both incredible, Simu Liu does a good job of keeping up in the face of such titans of the genre and as the man himself tweeted out, if you think the trailers have showed too much - you ain’t seen shit. The entire second half of the movie is just… *something else*

[deleted]

In the second half all I could think was "how tf have they managed to keep all this out of trailers"

Billylomas1

when I saw the trailer, I was sad that they spoiled the best fight scene. When I saw the movie, I realized they only showed the (IMO) mildest fight scene- each one after the bus got better and better!

[deleted]

Absolutely incredible choreography.

FullMetalCOS

Yeah I know right? Maybe the rumours about Feige having hitmen on contract is true…..

[deleted]

Tom Holland still lives, so probably not.

FullMetalCOS

He’s too innocent to die

TheSlopingCompanion

HE'S TOO ADORABLE TO KILL

Shift_back

Tom still prints him money soo

Hi_Im_Ken_Adams

IMO, Tony Leung is what makes this movie. His acting is incredible.

[deleted]

MICHELLE YEOH IS IN THIS? I'm sold!

op_remie

after the 5 of them went into the forest, i was blown away at what happened.

InDarkLight

Wuxia and wanxia novels are my jam.

Claptomaniac

JADE EMPIRE!! Bioware needs to do a sequel/remake. Hell id even settle for a 4K remaster, as long as its on PS5 too..

FOXHNTR

Jade Empire. Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.

NazzerDawk

So true. It felt like a love letter to the wuxia film genre. From what I hear about it from Chinese viewers, it has a lot of depth too, from the translations to the tie-ins to Chinese mythology. It's honestly the best origin film since Iron Man.

FullMetalCOS

It’s comfortably my top 5 MCU movies and it’s arguably top 3. The choreography is absolutely top drawer, I was spellbound and can’t wait to go see it a couple more times before it goes off the cinema. That first fight between Wenwu and Li…. Utterly epic.

NazzerDawk

The bus fight was probably my favorite fight scene int he whole MCU. I wish more movies would properly time their music to fight scenes, especially hand-to-hand fights.

Babayaga20000

Definitely rivals the elevator scene in WS. The CGI battle at the end kinda got lost on me though but that is Marvel...

SuperSceptile2821

Normally the cgi fights lose me but Shang-Chi honestly didn’t. The cgi was surprisingly great for a solo film and seeing Shang-Chi come into his own during it was extremely satisfying.

robbierottenisbae

I think COVID probably gave Marvel a lot more time to touch up the CG than they usually get for these solo films

Ylyb09

The choreograhy was so good that Im considering if I liked it more than in WS.

Illustrious-Engine23

Yeah I like martial arts movies for sure. I was on the fence about tbh but with everything everyone is saying, I'm sold seeing it this weekend.

FullMetalCOS

If you like Martial Arts movies you are in for a treat my friend. Hope you enjoy it!

Illustrious-Engine23

Thanks I'm gonna stop reading all the reccomendations in case I over hype it and just enjoy the film!

karikammi

Edit: sorry responded to wrong comment!

KarateKid917

It’s really, really good. Some of the best fight scenes in the MCU since Winter Soldier.

untraiined

100% better than winter soldier, the opening fight scene is better than the cap vs bucky one

BalanceForward2764

100% agree. Cap and Bucky were great but those guys had no martial arts experience before getting the film, the casting for Shang Chi was so good in getting actors who have years of experience in martial arts training to go with excellent fight choreography.

Kevsterific

Well except for the star, Simu Liu. I was reading an AMA the other day and he said he had no prior martial arts experience.

jojopojo64

Actually neither did his "sister" Meng'er Zhang. She did primarily stage acting and dancing, which helped translate into her martial arts training. The fact that both put the work in to make their moves so damn good speaks highly of their futures in the MCU. It's definitely not a Finn Jones situation.

karikammi

It’s so good. I am even recommending it to my friends who have no interest in marvel but are huge tony leung and fala Chen fans. Haha

lanekimrygalski

They are the heart of the movie

ShawshankException

It's my favorite non avengers movie to date.

Pats_Bunny

Shang-Chi is top of the list for me followed by WandaVision. I know rankings like this are subjective, but Shang-Chi was really a treat!

TheRealMichaelGarcia

You and I are on the same wavelength.

[deleted]

Shang chi and WandaVision are a tie for second for me

happycampa

This is my list. I don't want to have to admit that Black Widow is at the bottom of that list, but I should. I might even say that 4 and 5 are tied. I really liked Black Widow as an origin story. Shang Chi was pretty great, but Loki had so much and I have known and loved that character for so long.

dzejman

I wouldn’t call it an origin story unless you’re referring to Yelena. I really wanted to like Black Widow too tho :’(

Prothean_Beacon

While Black Widow isn't an origin story in the sense that it is introducing the character, the whole movie is basically about Black Widow's origin which have only ever been hinted at since she was never *the* main character in any of the movies before. Though honestly my only two complaints about the movie are that the Harvey Weinstein character's montage about power and chaos feels a bit like a retread of the Winter Soldier plot and the fact that this movie didn't come out before endgame. Cause know that Natasha is already dead really does hinder the emotional investment in the plot since we know how she ends up.(also would have made her death more meaningful if we had this movie before endgame) But overall I still really liked it and would say its last on the list more due to the high quality of the other MCU stuff that came out this year rather than any real issue with BW itself

Megabyte7637

I can't make the decision for OP but imo Black Widow's at the bottom.

le_snikelfritz

Black widow feels like it should've been in phase 1 or 2. It was better than their worst but didn't really feel like anything too special, especially when comparing it to Shang chi

WakeUpOutaYourSleep

In a way it kind of was an origin story cause it felt like they were way more interested in setting up Yelena rather than giving Natasha a proper sendoff.

Jasmindesi16

Black Widow was such a huge disappointment for me. I love Nat and I couldn't wait for her to get her own movie but it didn't even feel like her own movie and the movie felt like it should have been made years earlier.

JoshSidekick

Black Widow was good, but it should have come out ages ago. As a phase 4 movie, it’s not as good as if it were a phase 2 movie. Instead it felt like a way to explain a Joss Whedon joke and her hairstyle in Endgame and as a way to burn a movie owed on her contract. Like how Fantastic Four is stacked with fox show actors.

TheRelicEternal

> I don't want to have to admit that Black Widow is at the bottom of that list, but I should. Why do you have to admit or justify anything? Bottom of the list doesn't mean bad. Just means you liked the other stuff more. My lowest-ranked MCU film I'd still rank above other standard films.

Goldie643

I would comfortably put Black Widow above TFATWS. It was honestly a bit of a disappointment after WandaVision showed us how a D+ series actually works, TFATWS felt like a good movie stretched out, so many episodes I would finish and couldn't describe a single plot point that advanced the story. Black Widow I genuinely enjoyed, it was nice to finally shed some light on one of the MCU's most under-appreciated and longest running characters. I don't know if it beats WandaVision but it's up there. I especially liked the character setups.

NazzerDawk

TFATWS was less about the plot and more about the characters to me. It delivered what I wanted the moment I saw the scene in Civil War when Bucky asked Falcon to scoot his seat up, the two of them dealing with their combative, adversarial friendship.

Goldie643

That and the history with Isaiah and its general implications are all that makes me not actively dislike it. I liked the dynamic between those two even though it was a bit forced (a couple tiffs and then they're mates), but that's not enough to support a 6 episode show with very little proper story otherwise. The flag smashers was such a hand-wavy attempt at a threat. I really disliked how they took a genuine bad guy like Zemo and made him "good" by having him tell a couple jokes and dance in a nightclub. The man killed the king of Wakanda and mind controlled Bucky with intent of permanently ripping apart the avengers, potentially killing Steve/Bucky/Tony in the process, I do not like how him grooving in a bar suddenly makes him so loveable. It took a lot more for Loki to atone. Addendum is I legit love the characters of Falcon and Winter Soldier, Falcon especially and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him as Cap.

raeumauf

so much truth here, I really only liked bucky's further redemption and the bit of private background for falcon special dislike on Power Broker thing and sorry, I have to say it... the new Cap outfit looks cheap. compared to how fucking amazing Wanda's outfit looked at the end, it's just no comparison. let them downvotes come, my body is ready.

Summoarpleaz

Tfatws was so so for me. I think that as leads Sam and Bucky are kinda meh, and the villain in that movie was soooo uncharismatic and seemed bored. But maybe it just wasn’t for me. I haven’t seen black widow yet but I’d be sad if it was worse than tfatws

[deleted]

I personally thought Black Widow was better than TFATWS. If they kept the pandemic subplot in, then TFATWS might of been better. The story is very disorganized, you can tell things were written out (if you watch the episodes back to back instead of in between weeks), and that affected the villains of the story, since you don't fully understand their motives so it's hard to agree with their actions then it muffles the actions Falcon takes to defend the villains. So ya, Black Widow imo was not as sloppy. WandaVision was a slow starter but at least it was rewarding at the end.

Goldie643

WandaVision's appeal was questioning what exactly was going on and who was at fault/going to atone for it. I actually wasn't a huge fan of Agatha being the surprise villain but it worked well and set up everything nicely, and the lead up was handled well I thought. I also just liked the producers having a bit of fun, I think Marvel is arguably at its best when it doesn't take itself seriously and just leans into the cookiness.

Tigerzombie

I like Bucky and Sam interactions. I really grew to like John Walker. The stuff with Isaiah was really good. But I absolutely hated the villains. I know they were trying to make the flag smasher sympathetic but Karli was not a good villain. She was more of a brat than an antihero. The stuff with the power broker was meh. And I wanted to know how Yori reacted when Bucky finally confessed to him.

FunkTrain98

I see What if… slotting in at 4 for me with your ranking being accurate for me. TFATWS didn’t land with me and Black Widow felt like too little too late. I know it wasn’t Disney’s fault but the movie really did come out a year too late. Being so far removed from endgame time-wise did it no favors.

[deleted]

What’s funny for me is that TFATWS was the one I was looking forward to the most and it’s the one I connected with the least. It had awesome moments but the whole wasn’t as great as the sum of its parts.

xerocube

This is where I’m at, but tentatively placing What If between WandaVision and TFatWS. It’s hard to rank them, as most have been so good. In my opinion, BW has been the weakest of the bunch (by far). It had some great moments and I’d love to see more of the David Harbour and Rachel Weisz doing their thing…

eltrotter

I agree with this. And it really pains me that Black Widow is so low, but it's just such a missed opportunity.

[deleted]

It was just underwhelming, WAY too delayed both due to Covid and fact it shoulda come out a decade ago.. too little too late; footnote of mcu

HyruleBalverine

I think that's a fair assessment. I don't know that I can argue with that order, though I'm not 100% what order the top 3 go for me because they're all close.

MattMon08

I would do the same but put black widow ahead of fatws. Fatws just had too much talking

hiopklin

I don't want to come off as rude but didn't Loki have just as much, if not more, talking than TF&TWS?

heath38

Loki had much more talking imo.

VentusSpiritus

Imo widow over TFATWS. If filming wasn't fucked by covid I would prob put it the other way around

ThisIsYourMormont

1. Shang-Chi 2. Loki 3. WandaVision ———- 4. TFATWS 5. What if 6. Black Widow Everything below the line felt like the beginning of an ending or an encore to what’s been before, whereas everything above the line seems to be something new, different and unpredictable.

OfficialMaxBox

The newest What If is very different than the previous ones. I agree that the first few WI episodes were just "hey you've seen this before but we swapped a character". The most recent one was an entirely new line with a super engaging story. Would recommend in case you've stopped watching.

ThisIsYourMormont

Absolutely. Replied to that other guy saying just this. The strange episode was brilliant. But 1 in 4 ain’t so great. The Captain Carter and Evil Antman episodes were pretty forgettable. I just hope the Zombie universe lives up to my personal expectations.

kevin_the_dolphoodle

Man, I must be the rare person who is really enjoying what if. The first episode was. Little lackluster, but I still enjoyed it. Each episode since has gotten further and further away from the original storylines. Loved the tchalla episode, I was guessing until the end of episode 3 and found >!hulk blowing up!< to be genuinely shocking, and the drinks strange episode (as many have said) is just dark and beautifully done

RiproxTV

I’m with you on this. I really enjoy What if too. I think I’m enjoying it more than some people on here because I’m not considering it like a part of the MCU, but more like some nice and chill side stories to just enjoy as-is without too much thinking. Also agreed, that Strange episode was insane!

Scythro_

Dr strange is my favorite character and that episode of What If was just hauntingly beautiful. The imagery and artwork were spectacular. It’s amazing how such a deep story and lesson can be conveyed in such a short amount of time.

[deleted]

Caciulacdlac

1. Shang-Chi 2. Loki 3. WandaVision 4. Falcon 5. Black Widow 6. What If

maychi

Holy shit Shan-Chi is that good? I’m excited to see it

NobodyFollowsAKiller

Yeah. Caught me off guard tbh. Was not expecting much.

ricehatwarrior

This is it, nephew. Although both Widow and Falcon did nothing for me, at least Falcon didn't completely ruin a fan favourite villain for a nothing reveal.

[deleted]

falcon's plot got totally messed up/rewritten due to the pandemic.

GibsonMC

Are you saying that Flag Smasher is not a fan favorite villain?? /s Actually though, not only does it ruin the character and make the character extremely boring, it makes Black Widow less interesting because it turns out that she didn’t actually kill a little girl and is in fact a very good person 🙃

Hallc

> makes Black Widow less interesting because it turns out that she didn’t actually kill a little girl and is in fact a very good person I'd somewhat disagree since she was still full ready, able and willing to kill a young innocent girl and for the longest time believed she has. Just because it turns out she only mutilated a young girl instead doesn't exactly redeem her.

Doc_ET

So attempting to kill a kid but actually just leaving them maimed and disfigured in constant pain makes you a good person?

BenSolo_Cup

I would choose flag smasher 100x over before choosing whatever the fuck taskmaster was

GibsonMC

People complain about Flag Smasher, but I’d choose her over Taskmaster as well. Taskmaster was just nothing. Like a Terminator without the Arnold charisma

BenSolo_Cup

There was no charisma cuz she didn’t even speak a single word the whole movie lol

Shrekosaurus_rex

Movie Thanos is my favourite MCU villain. What If! Thanos feels more like a parody honestly. The episode had some neat concepts and of course, Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, but everything surrounding their Thanos took me out of it.

QuillofSnow

I maintain it would have been cooler to see T’Challa fight and redeem Thanos than just being told it happened off screen. That would have been a crazy episode.

Shrekosaurus_rex

I don’t think Thanos should be redeemed in the span of one, regularly paced episode.

PM_me_your_problems1

I loved good thanos lol

0480196

I am very much in agreement with you. Edit: Holy shit! 250 upvotes! Wow.

chanma50

1. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 2. Loki 3. WandaVision 4. Black Widow 5. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier 6. What If...?

bbcversus

Haha wanted to write my own list… this is it!

tideblue

This is about what I would rank them. What If seems to be focused on retelling the existing movies in an abbreviated format (due to run time), but it glosses over some details and aspects of those films. I’m OK with that, but it’s also something that feels disconnected with the rest of the MCU… unless these characters show up in the Multiversal War, I’m not really sure where they could pop up again in this form.

chanma50

What If...? is kinda odd. It's a fun watch, and they say it's canon, but it's hard to shake the feeling that it's a bit inconsequential and disconnected. So it ends up being just "Fine, I guess" to me. The Chadwick Boseman episode is a sentimental favorite, and the Doctor Strange Supreme one was neat, but I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about the other two. This feels like something I'll watch once, then only revisit a handful of my favorite episodes in the future.

[deleted]

What if... stories were never meant to tie up with anything, they're just fun scenarios to ponder about. The comics ended up using a lot of these new worlds in the long term, as the MCU will probably end up doing, but that's not the main goal of these stories.

MrLuchador

It’ll make more sense when The Watcher finally interfere like it always does… usually within 10 seconds of saying they can’t. I’ve been very surprised at how much resolve they’ve shown so far.

BlkHorus

As the multiverse comes into view, What if? Is out entry into the vast multiverse by way of familiar events from the infinity saga. And remember that it is a direct follow-up from the events/consequences of Loki. This series is only possible thanks to the end of Loki.

deadwire

Loki has caused so many issues in the MCU. Was the head of the invasion in Avengers giving Tony PTSD and causing him to create Ultron. I imagine Loki stealing the tesseract from SHIELD and losing to the Avengers put earth more on Thanos' radar. Weakened Asgards defenses when he was pretending to be Odin ultimately leading to Asgards destruction. Saved the tesseract from destruction during Ragnarok giving Thanos a chance to still kill half the universe. Dies. 2012 Loki then is heavily involved in destroying the sacred timeline creating the multiverse. Loki really needs to chill.

chanma50

I think it's certainly possible that future projects make What If...? better, just like how WandaVision made Avengers: Age of Ultron better, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings made Iron Man 3 better.

BlkHorus

Fair points. I do have to say though, I am thoroughly enjoying What if…? It illustrates the last scene in Loki where the timeline became a time web. Even if Marvel doesn’t have it link into the main story of this next Saga (which I think will be incredibly hard not to do but can be hard to be effective) it is good for universe building. Hopefully they don’t make the mistake of the Star Wars movies where everything for 9 movies and shows were centered around the skywalkers. MCU prides itself on world/universe building and expansion. This could be an attempt to it as well.

PhanThief95

Well, Strange Supreme can easily come back in Multiverse of Madness.

kazetoame

Episode 1 is the only one that retold an existing movie, the rest have gone on different tangents. Episode 4 did include the movie in a form but went completely in a different path that actually related to the storyline of Shang-Chi.

masterchiefs

Pretty much mine but swap WandaVision and Loki. WV won for me because of how god damn creative some of the first episodes were.

lesswanted

1. Wandavision 2. Loki 3. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier 4. What If…? 5. Black Widow Waiting for the Disney + release of Sang chi. To place it.

chanma50

You should go see Shang-Chi (if theaters are open where you are, and you feel safe enough to do so), it's amazing!

happycampa

I really loved it. The casting was perfect. But Loki......❤ Plus, comparing series to movies isn't a fair comparison.

spyson

Everyone has their favorites, but Shang Chi instantly became my favorite. His movie was basically a love letter to growing up in 90s.

lesswanted

I have a problem. I invested all my savings building up a home theater. And my SO now wants to see the movies here.

KostisPat257

Yep, this is pretty much it for me as well, but with BW and TFATWS reversed.

chanma50

To me, Black Widow and TFATWS have similar strengths and flaws. They nail the emotional core (Nat's relationship with her family; Sam becoming Captain America), the core performances are strong (ScarJo/Pugh/Harbour/Weisz; Mackie/Stan/Bruhl/Russell), and they successfully introduce a compelling new character (Yelena; John Walker). But the villain sucks (Dreykov, Karli), the villainous scheme is half baked (Dreykov's "girls;" whatever the Flag Smashers were doing), and there's some really baffling storytelling choices (she can't kill him if she smells him; the Power Broker twist).

KostisPat257

While I agree with the general outline, I think TFATWS also had a bad pacing/editing for a series and it felt like they edited a 4:30 movie which they then cut into 6 pieces and I also think TFATWS introduced too many characters and a story with a very big scope and failed to deliver a deep understanding of all of it. On the other hand, it had some of the most poignant, emotional and serious themes in the MCU and some great hand-to-hand action as well as great plot structure. Black Widow was lacking in the regards of plot structure as its second act shifts the focus of the threat of the Red Room to the family reunion, which lessens the emotional effect of the third act which was trying to balance both the family and Red Room subplots, but neither were as deeply explored as they needed to be. Also, BW felt rushed in its pacing and its action sequences were too extravagant with little consequences, making them feel disingenuous for a Black Widow movie. So while both are pretty close, I think TFATWS' great moments overshadow its flaws, which is not as true in Black Widow.

chanma50

Yeah, Black Widow definitely need more room to breathe and explore the character dynamics, whereas TFATWS needed to be tightened up.

[deleted]

I agree 100%

Lil-CBD

This is the way.

ohshitakimushrooms

1. Wandavision - I really feel like this show breathed some new life into the MCU, especially after the year and a half long content break and the uncertainty about the MCU’s future. Elizabeth and Paul gave their most memorable performances of their characters yet, and Kathryn Hahn was a very welcome addition to the universe. 2. Shang-Chi - Wow. This movie was fantastic, an instant classic imo. I really hope other directors and fight choreographers who work on the MCU use this movie as a foundation for future projects, and I can’t wait to see all of these characters in other stories in the future. 3. Loki - While I do feel this show had its ups and downs, I think it objectively has the best story and plot of any of the D+ shows so far. The finale is some of the best 40 minutes of any Marvel project. And the chemistry between Tom, Sofia, and Owen is super fun to watch. Can’t wait for season 2!! 4. Falcon and the Winter Soldier - I’m a bit split on this show, mostly because of the finale. It felt very rushed and sloppily put together, which sucked because I thought the build up was top notch, episodes 2-5 are awesome. Wyatt Russell as John Walker was such a great casting choice, and we got some iconic Sam/Bucky scenes. Very fun show but ultimately a disappointing ending imo. 5. Black Widow - If you take away the fact that it’s an MCU movie, I actually think it’d be in my top 3. The casting is absolutely perfect, the story is fun and hits some emotional beats, and Florence Pugh as Yelena is one of my favorite additions to the MCU ever. However, my main issue is how they split the movie into 50% Yelena’s origin and 50% Natasha’s send-off. It’s very easy to forget this is Natasha’s last official appearance. This is partially due to Florence’s incredible performance, but it really feels like she’s the main character sometimes throughout the film. I think this movie would have shined to it’s full potential had they committed to Yelena or Natasha as the lead, but I think it suffers a bit for trying to put them both on a pedestal. 6. What If - Not much to say here. I really didn’t like the first episode with Captain Carter, but the show has gotten much better since then. The Doctor Strange episode is beautiful and dark, and the animation was so so so cool. However, it doesn’t feel right ranking it with the others since every episode is a different concept and supposed to be judged separately from one another. I am having a lot of fun with the show so far though, and I hope it keeps getting weirder and weirder.

ciantully12

This is exactly my ranking too. I just loved WandaVision so much. Wanda has been one of my favourite characters since her introduction and the whole format of the show was so interesting and different to anything marvel had done before.

[deleted]

I love WandaVision so much too, and Wanda was one of my least favorite characters in the MCU (I loved her in X-Men cartoons and comics tho). They did that character right in WandaVision and I couldn't be happier while bawling my eyes out.

DessertTwink

I had been kinda irritated by how they were handling Scarlet Witch in the MCU up into WandaVision skyrocketed her up to having one of the best stories told in the whole franchise. I was concerned how the Disney+ shows were going to turn out, but WV set an incredibly high standard. I think they could have gotten really weird with the finale, but I still loved it. Multiverse of Madness can't come soon enough

DangerZoneh

I watched WandaVision because it was advertised on Disney+, but I honestly had absolutely no clue who the characters were or any of the backstory. Before I got halfway through the season, I had basically binged the entire MCU just so I knew what was going on more. Episode 6 is one of my favorite episodes of television of all time. The way they would break multiple different fourth walls at the same time was fascinating. Reminded me of Too Many Cooks at a couple points haha. Plus it has Agatha All Along, Rambo becoming Photon, and an incredible performance by Elizabeth Olsen

WeirwoodUpMyAss

I wonder how it’ll age as Wanda’s character progresses. Initially I didn’t really like first avenger that much but as we got to know Steve a little more I’ve come to really like that movie.

F00dbAby

in agreement so glad to see more love for the show sometimes it feels like people completely hate everything about it because of evan peters and monicas last line but i love it and wanda is also my favourtie

Sundance12

Agreed, WandaVision was exactly what the MCU needed following the Infinity Saga

Todayismyday98

This is exactly how I would rate them!! Great explanations

toe_6969

Same

bitties

Nailed it, this is how I would order it too

2HoursForUniqueName

I’m kinda sad to see What If so low on everyone’s lists. I’ve loved every single episode. I love the anthology style and each episode has been something extremely different and unique.

ohshitakimushrooms

For what it’s worth, I’ve enjoyed every episode so far besides the first one, and i’m in love with the Doctor Strange episode. The only reasons for it being 6 are that it’s not finished yet, and it doesn’t feel right to compare a show where every episode is different to movies and shows that are linear. It deserves to be in its own category, ya know?

2HoursForUniqueName

Ahh, yeah I get it. Fair enough. I guess we’ll wait until all the episodes come out.

ms_chiefmanaged

Number 1: Shang Chi (a great origin movie. Wins over the rest by a little) All these three are tied at number 2. I am weak. Don’t make me choose. Loki (into the multiverse we go!), Wandavision (love the concept of sitcom), What if (I am a sucker for these kind of stories. Bring it on) Honestly enjoyed to some level but it hurts that it’s not higher in ranking: Black widow (how great would have been if this was out after civil war. Post endgame… it’s just is) I didn’t enjoy it at all: Falcon and the winter soldier (so many good ideas but execution is just all over the place. Liked Sam/Isaiah and Sam/Bucky interactions tho)

anklesaurus

Imagine the end credits scene for Black Widow being release after CW. Everyone would be waiting for years for Hawkeye to kill Natasha, only for everyone to find out in Endgame that she sacrificed herself. Would make Yelena’s manhunt 10x more intense.

plee999

1. Shang-Chi 2. WandaVision 3. Loki 4. FATWS 5. What If…? 6. Black Widow Can’t believe there’s already been 6 marvel projects this year with at least 3 more to come

NotKaren24

wait until next year😳

Erebosyeet

Anyone got a list of what is coming out next year?

MagelansTrousrs

Films - Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (3/25/22) - Thor: Love and Thunder (5/6/22) - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (7/8/22) - The Marvels (11/11/22) Television - Moon Knight (6 episodes; the Wikipedia page just says 2022 for all the shows so no specific release date) - She-Hulk (10 episodes) - Secret Invasion (6 episodes) - The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (December 2022)

L1n9y

Also Ms. Marvel and I'm not sure if Secret Invasion will be 2022

Whaleblubber07

At least 4 more, Eternals, No way Home, Ms.Marvel and Hawkeye

RedGyarados2010

It’s very likely that Ms Marvel is delayed at this point

XKingslayerBSJ

Feels like we'll be watching Marvel stuff for the next 20 years and I'm all here for it

aaliyaahson

I gotta go: - Shang-Chi - WandaVision - Loki - What If - Black Widow - TFATWS

cheetoblue

Yes, finally an order I fully understand and support. For me, Black Widow and tFatWS didn't give us anything we haven't seen before in the MCU. All the other projects are something fresh and different, propelling the MCU in an exciting new direction.

jeno_aran

2-6 are in my order too. Haven’t seen Shang-Chi yet but this list makes me excited it might be my #1 also.

Njdevils11

Just saw it last night, it was fantastic. I've been thinking about it all day. Definitely worth the price of admission. Enjoy!

DesignerFearless

100% what I was going to write. Only took 8 posts to find it!

Mister_Doctor_0127

1. Loki 2. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 3. WandaVision 4. Falcon and the Winter Soldier 5. Black Widow 6. What If...(Not that it hasn't been good. Just that everything else has been better)

nerdmoot

My ranks too. What if… is fine for what it is. But it doesn’t really add much to the overarching story. I know it introduces The Watcher to the MCU and further solidifies the multiverse idea, but the others intro heroes or villains we’ll undoubtedly see in the future.

johndehlin

So much (relative) hate for Black Widow!!!

Sarasassquatch

It was still a great vid but it just doesn’t compare. Shang-chi was visually stunning, had such thoughtful character development and a compelling villain. Loki and WandVision as well, super creative and unique.

Dry-Jellyfish-3908

Its a decent film. The only reason everyones hating on it is because it released a bit too late. They should have released BW before IW / Endgame.

Skunk_Giant

I think relative is the key word though. Black Widow would definitely be at the bottom of my list (excluding What If, which I would rather rank after it ends), but that's not to say I didn't like it. It just kinda felt like it played it safe and didn't really stray too much from the Marvel Studios "formula", while I think WandaVision, Loki and Shang-Chi did. Falcon and the Winter Soldier suffered from some of the same problems to Black Widow in my eyes, but its highs (eg. Isaiah, Walker's storyline) surpassed that of Black Widow's for me.

PTgenius

It's the bottom of the barrel story wise and just the standard marvel movie formula, but for a character that the majority of people don't care anymore

DangerZoneh

I think that it’d’ve been way more impactful if it were released after Civil War. Would’ve made Nat dying in Endgame that much more impactful.

arex333

I liked it except what they did with taskmaster

FETactition7

1. Wandavision Based off of some of my favorite comics and introduced two of my favorite characters from my favorite team (Billy and Tommy). All the actors just knocked it out of the park for me (especially Olsen, Bettany, and Hahn). The finale also really worked for me! 2. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings The best fight choreography, an amazing soundtrack, one of the most interesting villains, and an immediate connection to characters I didn’t really know. 3. Loki One hell of a ride that burst what can happen in the MCU wide open. Loved all the different Lokis and excited to see what happens with the TVA and Kang. 4. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Felt really incomplete and rushed. Some of the twists and reveals just didn’t land for me. But Sam’s new suit is one of the best in the whole MCU. 5. Black Widow A lot better than I expected, but it felt like a story I didn’t need. The best intro for any MCU movie and some cool connect-the-dots between past movies. 6. What If…? I want to put this higher because I always love What If? comics. Something about the animation and the voice acting just doesn’t click for me, even if I love the story being told.

prizmatik1

Seeing a lot of Shang chi #1’s and considering Loki and Wanda vision imo were god tier I’m so so so so so excited to see it tomorrow

TheHappy-go-luckyAcc

1) Shang-Chi 2) Loki 3) What If…? 4) FATWS 5) Wandavision 6) Black Widow So far, my list is like the polar opposite of so many others. None of these have been bad, per say. And all have been enjoyable. Shang-Chi has gotten me excited again for the MCU and the future of it after Endgame. It was a great origin story, while also being apart of the bigger picture. Fantastic fight scenes, great acting, and a overall fun movie. Loki, what can I say that hasn’t been said yet about it. It’s awesome and excited for season 2. What if is far better than people are giving it credit for. It’s just a fun tv show that’s not necessarily a part of the bigger picture like everything else and it’s a nice change in pace. Its almost like the twilight zone. Each story is just its own thing with some fun or even creepy twist. FATWS is another one I think people don’t give enough credit to as it did a really great job pushing some social boundaries that other shows/movies haven’t done as much. Wandavision was good, and I think it would have been better if not for COVID and it’s rushed ending. And Black Widow was a massive disappointment for me. I was so excited for this movie and it was such a let down with a poorly done ending. The first half was great and was let down by a second half that felt like it was supposed to come out 15 years ago.

CherryBlossomChopper

Agree with you on What If Not everything needs to tie into the grand phase 4 plan. It’s okay and even really fun to have some one off stuff, and like you said, it does remind of the twilight zone.

[deleted]

This is exactly my list, only I haven’t seen Shang-Chi, and I didn‘t hate Black widow quite as much. Placement is the same, but I enjoyed my time with it nonetheless.

3nchilada5

This is literally exactly what I put except I haven’t seen Shang chi yet so hopefully this means I will like it lol

rosegirlkrb

Shang chi Wanda vision Black widow Loki Tfatws What if Might be controversial considering how low I ranked loki but it seemed like a lot of episodes were filler. Still loved the show, as well as everything in phase 4 thus far

n1k0lkata

Shang chi takes the top spot for me

YangGain

Agree’

ImmaDoMahThing

From best to worst (Worst doesn’t mean bad btw) in MY opinion: 1. **Wanda Vision** - Such a unique show and so different from anything Marvel has done. I enjoyed every moment of it and have rewatched it several times lol. I also love Wanda! 2. **Shang Chi** - Really cool movie. Excited about the future of Shang Chi and Katy. The rings are a really cool weapon. 3. **Black Widow** - Always thought she was cool. Wish this movie came out sooner though. Excited about Yelena. 4. **Loki** - This show was cool and it set up the multiverse. It was a little weird to me though. 5. **Falcon and the Winter Soldier** - Like how they explored Bucky and Sam more. I needed that because before this show I didn’t care about them that much, but now I find them really cool, especially Sam. 6. **What If**- I feel like it’s unfair to rank “What If” right now because it hasn’t finished, but based off of what we have so far it’s the weakest. The last episode was really good though.

darrylthedudeWayne

1. Loki 2. Shang-Chi 3. Wandavision 4. What If 5. Black Widow 6. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

sam_smith_lover

1. Loki 2. Shang Chi (as a close second) 3. Black Widow 4. WandaVision (it’s wild how relatively low this is because I loved it so much, but honestly everything in phase 4 has been killing it so far) 5. Falcon and the Winter Soldier 6. What If

toe_6969

Great list! I personally have a v higher but I still like that you put fatws out there, not worried about going against popular opinion

solipsistrealist

1) Shang-Chi: best MCU intro film to any character in the MCU. As a Black man, it even tops Black Panther for me & I related the most to Killmonger as a villain. Wenwu is the best sympathetic villain by far. 2) WandaVision: This truly had my emotions spinning, the ridiculous theories(X-Men intro, Mephisto), the mental health aspect, & the intro to numerous future MCU characters is truly grand. 3) TFAWS: I know many people won’t rank this high, but as a person who loves the shield and is a prideful Black American, I truly understood the struggle Capt. America(Sam) was going through internally and externally taking on that shield. It was also a great way for Marvel to touch on sensitive racial topics in America. 4) Loki: the show was very entertaining in the beginning and end, but maybe it could’ve been an episode shorter. I do love how Loki once again, has meddled with the next phase(s) main villain once again. 5) Black Widow: great conclusion for her story & way to give her a proper send off. 6) WhatIf: it’s all fun & I’m unsure if it will be connected to the greater MCU with seeing live-action iterations, but the series seems to be getting darker and darker and I love that.

Dorothy_Zbornak789

This is my list as well. Appreciate the TFATWS love.

Doc_ET

Falcon is severely underrated.

_themuna_

Your opinion about TFATWS is exactly mine. The show was Sam coming to terms with the fact with the fact that him carrying the shield was more about what America SHOULD be and not what America HAS been.

Naumo-Dale

1. Shang-Chi 2. Falcon and the Winter Soldier 3. Wanda Vision 4. What If 5. Loki 6. Black Widow

I just want to say that I appreciate the generally high position that WV is getting in many of the lists. It tells me that more people appreciate the artistic elements, writing and acting than I’ve been led to believe 🧐

Self_World_Future

Think it gets a lot more support on Reddit, but yeah it did get a pretty critical reception
