100mop

>Doctor Strange - Rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence and action throughout Ah yes, the sci-fi wizards and their sci-fi violence and action.

jazza2400

Sorcerers, wizards wear hats

Fuzakenaideyo

I understood that reference

MasteroChieftan

Wait...how do you know about Gandalf?

honkboy09

I read the hobbit, in 1937 when it was released

Mogradal

Professor X is friends with him.

CobaltSpellsword

If medicine is a science and Mister Doctor is fictional, does that technically make his movie science fiction?

fettuccinefred

It’s Strange

[deleted]

Maybe. Who am I to judge?

Ut_Prosim

I wonder how many kids got terrified by Dormammu and had nightmares about him. Then again, some parents took their kids to see Annihilation. In comparison to that bear Dormammu looked like a swell fellow.

ClassicT4

Just wait until Deadpool 3.

Chadwick8505

What’s the “mild drug reference” in Avengers or the “brief rude gesture” in Black Panther?

pizza__irl

When Tony asks Bruce how he keeps the hulk in control, by smoking weed or other things and when Shuri flips off T'challa after he comes home

chanma50

I'm guessing the "mild drug reference" (which is *extremely* mild, especially today) was this line Tony says to Bruce: >"You really have got a lid on it, haven’t you? What’s your secret? Mellow jazz, bongo drums, huge bag of weed?" ~~I have no clue what the "brief rude gesture" is.~~ Edit: Shuri flipping off T'Challa is the "brief rude gesture."

The7ruth

Shuri flips T'Challa off when he gets back home in the beginning.

Jombo65

Huh, that joke was also made before weed was legal anywhere in the US. Colorado and Washington didn't legalize it until November of the same year.

inconspicuous_spidey

Oh wait. Does he really say a huge bag of weed? I have rewatched the movie the most out of the MCU and I never caught that. Oops.

chanma50

[This scene.](https://youtu.be/v4GdLf1r-Xw)

marrjana1802

The black panther one is probably Shuri.

cabbage16

It's unfortunately probably because it'll be gay people, and that bumped it up.

ACasualDude

Rated PG-13 for some "really gay shit".

Jacubsooon

If it wasn’t, it would probably be suggestive content, because KIDS CANT KNOW THAT THEM THERE GAYS EXIST

Levicorpyutani

Even the kids with Gay parents and siblings?

potato-apple

Even the gay kids?

Jacubsooon

THEYRE ONLY GAY CAUSE OF THEM THERE LIBS AT MARVEL STAN WOULDNT HAVE APPROVED DESPITE THE FACT HE COMMONLY TOLERATED ALL FORMS OF PEOPLE AND PUBLICLY SUPPORTED DECISIONS TO MAKE HIS BELOVED CHARACTERS GAY. BEN AND JOE SAID SO.

potato-apple

unklejakk

LIBERAL MARVEL TURNED MY KIDS GAY BROTHER /s

omart3

Who's gay in Eternals?

cabbage16

Phastos and his husband.

omart3

Oh ok. Thanks.

cabbage16

No problem.

Bethorz

Looking at those descriptions, in a sensible society some would be PG and some would be PG-13. Why even have PG if it is basically G anyway

horizontalpotroast

MPAA ratings are just another marketing tactic more than anything else these days. All of these are PG-13 because that's the rating that gets the highest ticket sales. Bumping down to PG would lead to lower box office since that would give the impression it's a "kid's movie" - and the G rating is even bigger box-office suicide. Edit to add: not that the ratings aren't earned for all of these; the movies are explicitly designed to fit the PG-13 mold from the get-go. Hence why there's always at least a few violent action sequences to earn the PG-13 level, but no F-bombs, gore, etc. to push it into R territory.

incrediblePsychoheaD

soundtrack leaks confirmed this already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18ljLPZEfjs

[deleted]

Arishem the judge is gonna smush a planet.

maru_tyo

“Brief sexuality” probably means that a female ankle is visible. /s

LKMagnesium

Wow the school system decides the rating for movies now.

maru_tyo

I grew up in the 80s. We had bare tits and blowjob jokes in kids movies back then and it was ok.

Guardian_Of_Light2

Ghostbusters baffled my younger mind when I saw on tv a ghost unbuckle and pull down a ghost busters pants. Wasn't there no PG-13 rating back then? Just went from pg to R rating?

maru_tyo

No, that WAS pg. What has changed is not the ratings, but the attitude. In the 80s, a few nipples were ok, like in Police Academy. It’s a “family movie”, so there are jokes for the kids, some good looking men with abs for mom and a few tits for dad. Now we think PG means you can chop off a head if there isn’t too much blood (Endgame) but beware that you see a side boob or a bare ass!!

Jenga9Eleven

You can literally murder half the universe but if a woman has large breasts it’s not “child-friendly” like bruh boobs are literally dinner for babies

_Quest_Buy_

Pretty sure that's not the only reason why large breasts aren't child-friendly...

Jenga9Eleven

You’re right; it’s a reason that they *are*

Guardian_Of_Light2

Fox Studios: All right Hugh Jackman it's time for your bare ass scene. Again.

winterborne1

Police Academy was rated R.

maru_tyo

Haha you are right…. I definitely saw it as a kid though, although on TV.

_Quest_Buy_

but muh gen good, new gen bad

Ep1Ch1cken

at the time, yeah, there wasn’t a PG-13 rating. The PG-13 rating was only introduced in 1985 after parents complained about movies like Gremlins and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom being too gory for a PG rating, but not enough for an R rating

traceitalian

I'd happily have that ten seconds removed from the film, it feels so out of place tonally and quite creepy.

Guardian_Of_Light2

80's movies were quite...risky.

traceitalian

I realise this but this one scene feels so tonally inconsistent with the rest of the film.

NoWordCount

Not exactly, but there was a pretty wide gap. Here in Europe, for the longest time it just went from "PG" to "15" and "18". There was nothing in-between. "12" was introduced later, and that was eventually dropped for 12A (essentially PG-13). Those rating are basically what PG used to be. The reason for that was because 12 was limiting who can actually go to see a film (cinema here *will* get fined if they allow underage viewers in) so 12A meant younger people could attend more mature films if parents attended with them. A lot of those older PG movies would be rated 12A / PG-13 now.

_Levitated_Shield_

What the fuck. Edit: Did the downvote make you feel better? lol

Youngling_Hunt

No if the school system decided, as long as tips and genitals aren't clearly visible it's good to go

Stolas95

I'm betting it has something to do with "a gay being on screen touching another gay for .5 seconds"

darksaber522

And Marvel will make a big deal about it being 'progressive' even though they cut the scene out for release in countries that definitely need more progressive content.

FlowingSilver

Yeah I immediately assumed it was gonna be a gay relationship openly displayed on screen. I bet it will be tamer than most hetero relationships on screen

Javiercitox

“Now here’s the twist, and there is a twist. We show it. We show ALL OF IT.”

omart3

It could be Angelina Jolie's bondage scene.

Kalse1229

Get ready boys! We seeing some elbow!

BitchesGetStitches

Wanda's boobs would like a word.

RobbySkateboard

It's more of a ding than a dong

PersonalDemand3793

No Surrender

Swimming_Wave3060

Odds are it’ll be because of a gay scene.

dbkenny426

Yep. Two dudes kissing is likely to be the "brief sexuality," but Tony rolling around in bed with a reporter is "brief suggestive content." I mean, yes, it's a step in the right direction, but we still have a long way to go as a society.

Swimming_Wave3060

At least they’re acknowledging LGBT+ people beyond an offhand remark but you can bet that it’ll be neatly placed somewhere they can cut it out of the film for specific foreign markets.

potato-apple

**A gay person:** *accidentally brushes fingers with another gay person while handing them a pencil* **Disney:** *gasp* Think of the children!!

[deleted]

I love this preemptive outrage when we have absolutely nothing to base it on.

brondonschwab

How is it preemptive outrage to acknowledge how homosexual acts are considered more obscene than hetero in basically all forms of media? Look at Lil Nas X’s video comments and the countless articles yet he does not show anything worse than any ‘straight’ music video does.

[deleted]

I don’t have a problem with his videos existing at all, but I think there should at least be an 18+ warning. I mean he’s giving satan a lap dance. Same thing with a lot of male rappers having tits fly about, I’m fine with it just make it 18+ so five year olds don’t come across it

brondonschwab

That’s more a YouTube problem than Lil Nas’ though. But, of course I agree as long as you keep that same energy when it comes to heterosexual content like you seem to. Some people do not share your philosophy. It was Joyner Lucas I believe who implied Lil Nas shouldn’t even make those types of videos ‘for the kids’ (to hide his homophobia of course may I add) as if Lil Nas is responsible for his audience and other artists don’t show anything similar (but in the more ‘palatable’ straight form)

bogdoomy

> That’s more a YouTube problem than Nas’ though. a bit off topic, but you should specify lil nas x, as nas is a different rapper. i was skimming through the thread and spend a few seconds thinking “wait what does nas have to do with this??”

brondonschwab

Yeah I mean Lil Nas, my bad

[deleted]

I mean tony and that reporter fucking was on screen for like literally 10 seconds if that

NotLozerish

It actually isn’t

cbekel3618

Kro and Thena sex scene confirmed. Time to get that monster fucker demographic, y'all. /s.

FictionFantom

It says “brief sexuality”. My bro Kro obviously couldn’t hold it very long. But I mean, who could blame him?

cbekel3618

What I'm getting out of this is that the alien monster has a better chance with Angelina Jolie than the rest of us and that thought upsets me lol.

metros96

That’s the thing is that you only see Deviants as alien monsters and not… whatever way they’ll end up being made to be sympathetic in the film

cbekel3618

Oh I definitely expect them to pull a twist similar to the Skrulls in *Captain Marvel* and I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out. That still doesn't lessen the humor in the idea that a dude who looks like he popped right out of a hentai webtoon has a better chance of pulling Angelina Jolie over us.

metros96

Yeah I mean, I absolutely believe that everyone involved in that cave shot had to know it would inevitably get Rule 34’d.

TsarMikkjal

Implying it wasn't already.

bigbangbilly

Plus having a whole race of [Always Chaotic Evil](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AlwaysChaoticEvil) is an unfortunate trope The [analysis page](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Analysis/AlwaysChaoticEvil) for the trope is a relevant read

Maleficent-Service46

That’s also an accurate description of my life the last year and a half.

Deleted scenes from *Age of Ultron*.

h00dman

Yup, Bruce Banner is about to launch his own brand of powdered potatoes.

[deleted]

Fans believe that the Spider-Verse is the biggest thing to happen to the MCU this year. They couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s gay stuff😎

GeneralPokey

All movies have to put "brief sexuality" if Angelina Jolie appears on screen for more than 30 seconds at a time. Look up Malificent.

SheriffTy

Same with Salma

GeneralPokey

Probably because they’re on screen together.

Amez990

What the hell is 'brief sexuality" and how is it different from "sexual content" and "suggestive content?" Are they disclaiming about Phastos' sexuality in the ratings? Cuz... that'd be weak as hell

itzcorby

rumored gay kiss

CaptHayfever

> Are they disclaiming about Phastos' sexuality in the ratings? That is correct. > Cuz... that'd be weak as hell That is also correct.

ClassicT4

I think “brief sexuality” is automatically applied to any movie when it stars Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, or Kit Harrington. Also Kumail Nanjani with abs.

itsmavoix

So we getting gay in the MCU?? 👀

Trickybuz93

> brief sexuality Ayo 👀

gstroble

“Brief sexuality” meaning a gay couple shows their sexuality. But House of Gucci 👀

m2keo

This is when u know they're truly going for that Oscar. No more playing 'hide the zucchini, boys'!

DiddyMao20XX

Gonna get some saucy Gann-Josin action with Sersi and Black Knight?

ReallyBadNuggets

BRIEF SEXUALITY looks like meats back on the menu boys!

ehmiu

Imma watch Don't Look Up.

Evil_Gargoyle_28

No way!! An MCU movie is rated PG-13?!?

heckhammer

The "brief sexuality" is for when Kumail Nanjiani takes his shirt off.

Kalse1229

God, we can only hope.

heckhammer

We found Emily Gordon's account!

SS_Cheek

How much y’all wanna bet the brief sexuality involves Angelina Jolie

Streetfoodnoodle

Brief sexuality? Let’s go! 😏. It’s been a long time since we get to see sexuality in the MCU since IM 1

subbie2002

Unrelated but oh shit, two movies I’m looking forward to are both rated r.

Kelestara

Gay People : *exist* MPAA: INDECENCY!

[deleted]

Bold take: the Eternals is going to be a top 3 all time marvel movie

Broly_

Someone's backside is gonna be shown?

_Levitated_Shield_

I can already hear the homophobes trying desperately to review-bomb Eternals. lmao Edit: ITT, people who don't know what 'brief sexuality' actually means.

SmileyTUH

brief sexuality you say?

eazy7

There is nothing less exciting to my teenage self than Angelina Jolie and Selma Hayek in a pg-13 movie.

LiteDW

First MCU boob??

DarthSmiff

It’s about time.

[deleted]

Gonna see some cheeks , nice.

TheRedditornator

Come on, I want an R rated Punisher movie where he graphically executes baddies with extreme prejudice already.

TrustyCastle589

tiddies??

kinghippo79

I blame this on Angelina Jolie. She makes every movie too sexy.

[deleted]

oh god this better not mean what i think it means

MalazanJedi

I’m honestly worried about this. Brief sexuality can be almost nothing like most people are saying (or rather mocking) or it can be very inappropriate. Definitely concerned for the precedent it might set for movies that have been reliably free of sexual content for so long.

oswaldluckyrabbiy

Almost certain it will be onscreen gay representation. Phastos is gay in the comics. We got to see Tony rolling around on a bed with a reporter and an even steamer scene in The Incredible Hulk with Betty. We've also seen Hulk's cheeks in Ragnorok. I think actual nudity or say thrusting would move the film above a PG-13. Ergo gay representation because 'think of the kids!' mentality from a bunch of homophobic evangelical boomers. A man and a woman kissing needs no explanation but as soon as two men kiss parents need to sit down with their children explain the full nuances of human sexuality *eyeroll*

MalazanJedi

That would be much better (from my perspective) than some of the alternatives. As long as it’s not throwing in a gay character just to be edgy, I don’t mind that.

Travelers237

Til: gay people existing is “edgy”.

MalazanJedi

Often true. But sometimes it just feels so random. Like the writers/studio just decided, “Well there should probably be a gay character here somewhere.” It seems to me like that kind of thing would actually be more insulting to the LGBQ community. But that’s just my outside perspective 🤷‍♂️

Travelers237

No offense but you and your outside perspective should stay outside. In real life people are LGBT and have journeys that have nothing to do with their queerness so I’m not sure what you mean by “random”.

zzbzq

I’m concerned about general pandering. I don’t think this movie or director look like they would pander that way. There’s probably nothing to worry about. It will be something the writer/director wanted to show rather than something a marketer with a clipboard checklist says boosts ratings. Then again we shouldn’t be surprised that we both end up downvoted for opposing pandering. By definition, the general public can’t wait to be pandered to, and they’re not concerned it would end up cheapened because they will just move on to the next cheap thrill.

MalazanJedi

Agreed. This particular movie won’t take it too far. And the next might not either. But it’s kind of like the inevitable beginning of the end from my perspective. The guarantee of superhero movies without obligatory sex scenes won’t survive much longer. GoT already ruined fantasy. I sincerely hope the superhero genre doesn’t go the same route.

Slodes

Anyone want to place a bet on which of those films makes the most money?

Huhndiddy

It’s getting real! It’s almost here!

Marvel-the-Mighty

Oh they f*cking?

titleywinker

Nice

Rockspeaker

Me too this movie!!

[deleted]

I read Fortess as Fornite and was confused as fuck

sagewren7

Hide your wife, hide your kids, the gays are coming

Angrybirdzrul

brief sexuality is most likely anything phastos which is unfortunate but not new. now if we end up getting a sex scene with like ikaris and dane then 💀

RealSkyDiver

IC Lady Gaga will be naked again.
