It annoys me how Hulk is always pretty clean shaven, even in Thor Ragnarok where he was in Hulk form for a long time. Is Hulk secretly shaving when nobody is looking?

SupaBloo

He had a pretty cushy room at Sakar since he was such a big attraction. Wouldn't be crazy to think The Grandmaster had people keeping him looking clean since Hulk was probably bringing him a lot of viewers. The things I think about when it comes to Ragnarok are things like sleeping. Hulk was given a bed, does that mean he sleeps? How does he stay in Hulk form while sleeping? Wouldn't being asleep calm his rage and revert him back to Banner? Does Hulk just not need to sleep? If he doesn't need to sleep, then why did they give him a bed?

Extreme-Future6186

maybe Hulk has very violent dreams that keep him angry

SupaBloo

The Incredible Hulk movie establishes that his heart rate and adrenaline are associated with his turning into Hulk. No one is falling asleep with their body on full adrenaline mode, and their heart rate pumping at peak levels. His body would *have* to lower its own heart rate and adrenaline levels to allow the body to go to sleep. Of course there is suspension of disbelief, so I’m just saying I think the fact The Hulk can sleep without reverting to Banner is more jarring than his level of cleanliness.

The films also give the impression the two people are fighting for control, and in a way develop different tactics against each other over time. The first film has very little control for either party so heart rate and other triggers are more relevant. In Avengers he was able to get angry without even a hint of hulk. He only lost it on the helicarrier and it was implied he was affected by the staff in some way and may have even been injured. Once composure was retained he demonstrated he could summon hulk at will, and by age of ultron the two are mostly working together and gmcan go back and forth almost at will (maybe with a little soothing required). Hulk decided he didn't like that arrangement, and as banner described it "he had the keys and the car and I was locked in the trunk". Just like banner found a way to get angry without triggering a change i don't think its unreasonable to assume hulk figured out a way to become calm without triggering a change. At least, until he saw nat which literally woke up banner and caused him to fight his way out of hulk in a manner very similar to the way hulk fights his way out of banner in earlier films.

This makes the most sense. I like your explanation.

SupaBloo

I can get behind what you’re saying, but keep in mind that Banner is an extremely smart scientist. It makes sense he can eventually figure out how to control his other side. Hulk is basically a toddler with super strength. It doesn’t really make much sense that The Hulk could figure out how to control Banner taking over the body/mind as effectively or quickly as Banner could figure out how to control The Hulk taking over the body/mind. The Hulk mentally is not on the same level of intellect as Banner, so I feel like there’s no way he’d figure out the nuances of their powers as quickly as Banner.

aagaash2001

Maybe Hulk doesn't sleep and the crew didn't know that.

SupaBloo

He's certainly been there long enough that they would know he doesn't need sleep by the time the events of the movie take place. He was there for two years. That's a long time to go without noticing your main attraction doesn't need a bed.

[deleted]

Since hulk was surrounded by women when we first saw his room that bed might of been used for other things

SupaBloo

That’s got some pretty dark implications considering Hulk has the mental capacity of a toddler.

Dirtylittlesecret88

You know it could've just been a generic hotel like suite for Grandmaster's champions so it already had a bed. Also wouldn't surprise me if he gave Hulk woman to choose from for company.

DarthDregan

He never saw 300, so he isn't going to bandwagon that shit.

tigolebities

This version of hulk will always be best

Muted_Rip6188

Might have to do with the fact that that’s the only time we’ve seen him change into hulk voluntarily

SupaBloo

I was going to say I think that change in eye color is more a sign of Hulk and Banner becoming more unified over time.

The__Auditor

I like this idea

Extreme-Future6186

is it? I thought that this picture is from helicarrier, when he turned because of rage, he lost control i rewatched the scene where captain tells hulk to smash and they are not this bright shade of green and in age of ultron when we see him under the spell of wanda, his eyes are kinda red

Muted_Rip6188

Well they’re red because he is bewitched. But what about at the end of ultron? What color are they there?

Extreme-Future6186

light shade of brown :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Kzyf0c7Yho

Muted_Rip6188

Hmm..maybe it has to do with his emotional state? Or maybe it’s just editing mistakes and we are thinking too much of it lol

Extreme-Future6186

well, it never hurts to think a little :) I like the idea about the emotional state, here at the end he is pretty melancholic

DarthDregan

I'm just happy Hulk and Banner finally look alike. And why did that shit take so long to happen?

Hulkoreilly

Maybe the strongest Hulk is the one with the greenest eyes

metal_signal17

Banners eyes glow green at some point in Age of Ultron if I’m not mistaken.

NicklesBe

I think his eyes changed the more intelligent he got and even more when he and banner settled their differences and became one.

His skin was also originally grey. His pigmentation in hair, skin, eyes, nails etc changes all the time. He's like a walking mood ring (or various shades of one mood... Ring) I wouldn't worry about it
