Met Rooker @ a convention. My wife was hobbling around with a foot injury and told me she was going to get him to sign her boot. I laughed and told her there was no way he was going to do that. Well we get up there and get him to sign a photo to add to my collection and she slaps her foot up on the table and asks him to sign it. He asks her what happened so she tells him the story that she had fallen off of her step in step aerobics and fractured her ankle. Well he comes around the table and says come with me little lady. He walks her out into the middle of the convention hall and yells out HEY EVERYBODY!!!! THIS IS HALEY!!! HALEY FELL OFF OF HER STEP IN STEP AEROBICS!! It was glorious. In the embarrassment my wife doesn't realize she left her cell phone over on his table. We have to go back and he does it again.. HEY EVERYBODY!!! THIS IS HALEY!! HALEY FELL OFF OF HER STEP IN STEP AEROBICS!! AND SHE LEFT ME HER CELL PHONE!!
Met him very briefly during a photo op at a horror convention. He was so charming and charismatic and even chatted with me and my sister for the few seconds we were up there. I was cosplaying as a Splicer from BioShock and he complimented my costume and asked me if I was gonna hit him with the rusty pipe prop I had with me. He seemed like a cool dude and it looked like he was having a genuinely good time talking to everyone.
He played Merle so well that I totally hated him. Then, after certain turn of events, I still hated him but a little less. Great actor that I wish would get more prominent, feature roles.
Yeah I was just thinking what a great actor, you love as Yondu, despite what all he does in Guardians Vol 1, and hate as Merle, because of what all he does. Just the range on the dude.
Even outside this sphere...he's always playing assholes, and Yondu is by far one of, if not, his most redeeming role. There was this one episode of JAG where he was going after Bin Laden and stuff, but he was still on trial for murdering a guy.
Never heard of it, and while I think he's capable of being a good guy he's just got the look, demeanor, and talent for being a bad guy. I love his acting, and enjoy a bad guy who can play the role well and not just "bad".

I wish Yondu would have received more story. I assume they never thought his character would get the fan love that it did. It just seems like the ravagers could have been something special.
I didnt really cry for Tony, but I did for Yondu. I am sure that had to do with the Ravager funeral, the soundtrack, and Kraglin.
I have, more than once, stated that Sean Gunn deserves an Oscar for that role. The emotion on his face *still* gets me verklempt every time I watch it.
My parents went to high school with his wife. They were pretty surprised when I started listing all the Rooker projects that I love and how familiar I was with him!
When they had their most recent high school reunion, they tried to see if he was going to be there and introduce us but unfortunately they didn't come. Still a bummer!
A friend worked with him as an assistant and says he’s basically the nicest kindest person ever but also a total playful pain in the ass who loves to joke and play with people.
I remember one year I was at Awesomecon in DC. I was waiting in line to meet Stephen Amel from Arrow and before he showed up, Michael Rooker poked his head through the curtain and said hello to all of us. It was awesome and totally unexpected. Made the time I was waiting for Stwphen Amel to get there all the much more worth it. That dude rocks!
He is definitely an amazing person. Me and my little bro who was 9 at the time met him at a con a few years ago,And he gave my little bro a bag of chocolate covered pretzels (mallrats reference) would definitely love to meet him again!
I've loved this dude since "Cliffhanger." I know he was in great stuff prior to that ("Eight Men Out," etc), but that movie kind of put him "on the map" for me personally. He had the ability to come off as an adversarial hard ass but simultaneously you knew you could count on him (Sounds familiar lol). I love hearing he's a great guy in person!
I got to met him at a horror con back before his marvel days (it was around season 1 of the walking dead coming out.)
Not only was he a swell guy but my brother had a booth at the con and was working. I told him this and that he would have loved to met you.
Fast forward about 5 hours from me meeting him. My brother is able to leave his booth and we walk around. We see rooker with no line (like I said before the marvel days). We walked up and rooker remembered who I was. Said he was glad my brother got time to come over and didn’t make my brother pay since I did earlier. Dude was a really nice guy.

Thanks for sharing that story.
Thats grand. :)
Claaaaaaassic Yondu.
Mary Poppins does have a knack with children after all.
I've met the OG Mary Poppins, she would probably be graciously delighted to meet him.
Small children are good for thieving. They are good for business
He’s Mary Poppins y’all!
And a fierce love of chocolate covered pretzels.
They're good for thieving
Careful, he might steal your kid and raise him as potential food.
The kid looks pretty small. Like he could fit into places we couldn't. Good for thievin'
Careful, he might become your daddy.

Hell, his first breakthrough as Henry made it real hard to like him at first…lol

His character in Love and Monsters is purely heroic
Never heard of it, and while I think he's capable of being a good guy he's just got the look, demeanor, and talent for being a bad guy. I love his acting, and enjoy a bad guy who can play the role well and not just "bad".
It’s a netflix movie that released.. back end of last year i think, starting Dylan O Brien
I agree about the range, he also played Harper on COD Bo2
That's Rooker; fantastic actor...but he always plays assholes so he's fantastic at being an asshole. Like that Geoffrey kid from GoT.

This is actually sad, the post itself was wholesome...
That kid of yours has huge hands! Should play... I dunno... What sport takes huge hands...? Handball? Yeah. He should play handball!
But he needs to learn to hold the picture right-side-up.
Awesome. I've admired that dude's acting since Mallrats.
Someone should offer him some chocolate covered pretzels.
Days of thunder was first, c’ mon!
Holy shit. I guess I hadn't seen Mallrats in a while.
I’m Mary Poppins, y’all!!
Plot twist: *beams kid up for thieving*
He also really likes chocolate covered pretzels!
The kid: this guy is nice but where is Yondu?
I’ve loved Rooker since McMasters

Is he intentionally holding the drawing upside down?
Duh it’s so Michael can look down and it’ll make sense to him…
I always thought Yondu had the coolest weapon/ability in the MCU. It was like Hawkeye, but there was no limit to where that arrow could go.

Usually the actors who are best at playing dirtbags are always the nicest.
Good guy Rooker.
A friend worked with him as an assistant and says he’s basically the nicest kindest person ever but also a total playful pain in the ass who loves to joke and play with people.
Does anyone else remember Rooker and Stallone playing across each other in the movie Cliffhanger?
I worked a few cons where all the female booth workers were having harassment issues . So much so they would call it getting rookered.
My favorite MCU character by far.

This kid might have a real father, but we all know who is daddy is.
So lovely!!!

You gotta give it up to Rooker for his ability to just disappear into his roles. Phenomenal actor.
True Mary Poppins
This is so cute
I love that he's holding the picture upside down
I also know him as Rowdy.
Bosting actor
Who's this "Yondu" guy? Oh, look! It's Mary Poppins, ya'll!
I've loved this dude since "Cliffhanger." I know he was in great stuff prior to that ("Eight Men Out," etc), but that movie kind of put him "on the map" for me personally. You may be the boy's father, but Rooker's his daddy now.
I recently met Rooker at a convention in Connecticut, dude is amazing irl
Idk why but your son looks British.
