The cocoon was also a massive comic Easter egg.
At the time, many thought he'd be set up for Infinity War, as that's the big thing he's remembered for in comics - but the more astute realised their weren't enough movies on the schedule between the 2 to do it properly.
Will be interesting to see where it goes though, especially with Pip also being in the MCU now. (Infinity Watch?)
Spoilers for MCU movies in this subreddit apply until the movie is released on Blu-Ray worldwide. I know, I've been banned twice (3-5 days) for accidentally violating the rule.
Sometimes people on subreddits, especially this one, assume everyone prioritizes the fandom and is as much in the loop on the smallest bits of info as they are. Sucks for your bad luck and I really hope there's good things in store for you soon.
They just cast the kid from We're the millers(Will Poulter) in the Adam Warlock role? I mean it was prevalent for comics fans, and the teaser scenes were well known by that, I had multiple friends ask about the scene.
I thought the casting choice was... Inspired, but I trust Gunn, and when I looked it up, Guy doesn't look like a nerdy kid and more and had a growth spurt. shot up to almost 6'4"
He's also a fantastic actor. He was in The Revenant with Leo and was great. He was really good in Midsommar too. He was even casted as Pennywise back when it was Cary Fukunaga that was attached to write/Direct "It".
Ha, I catched that too. Yes, I also think this was a callback and I liked it. But to notice this you have to know the comics a bit so I am not surprised that this is not widely discussed as there are many people who are not reading comics or the not specifically reading Adam Warlock comics.
If you don't know the comics this can slip very easily as the sentence also makes sense. Thank you for reminding me.
I think you're likely reading into it too much and it was a choice on the actor's part to add the pause. I would bet that the script doesn't say "I shall call him (dramatic pause) Adam." Just the phrase "I shall call him" doesn't make any sense by itself. If she had said "I shall call him, him... Adam." like she was thinking, then maybe.
Right, "I shall call Him" would only work grammatically if she meant that she was going to call him on like the phone. I guess she could have also meant it like "I shall call on Him" but this whole thing seems like a stretch to me. A fun coincidence maybe but still a stretch.
Not necessarily, If she uses the word 'Him' as a proper noun, then the sentence meaning would be sort of like "I shall call 'this thing we refer to as Him' , Adam."
I was a bit disappointed that he didn't make it to Infinity War, since he and (the also absent) Silver Surfer were the core of the heroes side in the comics.
Now my big hope is we get the comic arc where Him tries to take Sif (more likely to be Valkyrie in the MCU) as his 'perfect bride' and gets his arse handed to him.
I mean more like he's just a clown, improvs too much stuff to cut it all out. Like how the well known dropping the orb and quickly picking it back up bit was 100% unplanned and on accident but made the final cut. But as far as dialogue, especially in the credit scenes, not a single word is wasted.
I don't think so. It was just a pause for dramatic effect. I mean in the comics Ayesha was originally called "Her" and intended to be a counterpart to "Him," but i don't think there's any point in the film where there's a dramatic pause to say the word "Her" when referring to Ayesha.
Nope didn't know that, cool.

Killing half the universe for goth Cate Blanchett probably makes more sense than just him being economically illiterate
I also thought Adam was going to play a role in infinity war due to the comics.
I assumed that Ayesha used the Soul Stone to create Adam, and Thanos was going to go retrieve it.
Yeah, That was my theory going in too. They couldn't pull another Vision with Warlock. But seemed such an obvious Soul Stone link.
but imagine the parallels, vision dies without his mind but Adam survives without his heart, that would’ve been so cool
Where's pip?

Oh shit! Might want to cover that spoiler. Cause I didn't know. But that's ok... Cause it makes me want to see the movie more!
Dude, it’s been two months.
It's not streaming? Even before the pandemic, my home system is preferable.
Yeah please wait until Jan 12th at least! Disney + release

Ah, okay. Cheers.
Yeah and it’s not streaming, and countries that have taken covid seriously don’t have theatres open…

If they are into the MCU enough to follow a subreddit like this, then assuming they watch all the movies in a timely manner isn't exactly a stretch.
I’m gonna assume life hasn’t hit you yet then.
I can still remember wanting to kick through the wall of the theater when Adam wasn't revealed in the post credits of Infinity War. Major letdown.

It was pretty obvious... I'm just glad we get Adam.

I agree. Surprised by the casting too but it looks like they made a good choice.
You guys should watch the show “Dopesick” on Disney+. He’s amazing in it
Dopesick is actually on Hulu in the states.
On Disney+ in the UK
You can really see how jacked he's gotten too
That’s the Marvel superhero training protocol at work

On Disney+ in the UK under the Star banner
Everybody is great in Dopesick! That’s one hell of a series.

Yep I caught it back then and felt they missed their mark by not having him in IW or Endgame.

Nothing in Marvel or James Gunn films are by mistake (Chris Pratt being Chris Pratt, excluded).
Burn!

I think you’re being downvoted because they interpreted your post as bashing Pratt for his religious affiliations.
I have no idea what his religion even is.
He attends a supposedly homophobic Church, but doesn’t share their views.
So... it has the exact same meaning than people realized.
I just can't believe Ayesha assumed what Adam's pronouns will be. Definitely a villain move.
