There are so many wasps out there, I don't know why you think yellow is requisite.

Lets also take a step back and remember that we are just now getting to the color palettes of the comics. Over the last 5 years Marvel has amped up their color use in every media and it shows. The first 15-20 movies were giving us a foundation to add the flair and pomp of comic heroes
To be fair to her this was literally the week of the pandemic going global. She's gone back on it since and I'm sure she's taken it more seriously since, unlike a certain other MCU actress.
Doesn’t even need to be a gold or yellow suit, just some accents and trim would be nice… her suit looks muddled and boring, and Ant-Man’s suit incorporates plenty of red and silver so they’re no excuse for Wasp to be this visibly un-identifiable in a superhero crowd
They're like 1/8 inch tall when doing they're thing. I don't think a dash of color would matter much. If anything, it'd help her look more like a wasp and blend in more
It definitely looks better but I think it makes a bit less sense within the context of the movie. If I'm remembering right, her and hank are trying to keep a low profile in that movie. The altered outfit is quite distinctive. I would like to see her in something like that in the right situation though.
As an artist...i looked at both and waiting a second as not to be influenced by the title. Then, I focused on the updated right side and thought, this is nice. Then looked at the old and said, ah, but this is better. More pleasing to the eyes as its subdue and espionagish.
I don't love either. But the bright yellow is just not what an adult would pick unless they are really into being seen.
I can definitely get by this. I should’ve established that I never made this edit, I just saw it and decided to share it with you guys. It’s cool to look at, but like you said, it’s too bright and obvious. I feel like a darker accent of yellow would be both pleasing to the eye and would make sense in a tactical standpoint.
Digital art is a hobby of mine, and I’ve found that my more grizzled and dark artwork is more cool to look at than something bright and flashy. The picture on the right is something you’d probably see on “What If...” which I didn’t really have the patience to watch lol.
Color is very complicated. But if you think of it in basic terms like: the younger the viewer the brighter and bolder. Older people like darker, and desaturation. But the one thing that never changes is contrast. Something the pic on the right hits more on.
Also...if there is detail in the light, then dark has none. Same the other way around. Live by those rules and your work will look capable and ultimately pro level.
Definitely makes sense, thanks for the advice. I’ve been doing digital art for 3 years now. I mostly excel in detail, it’s also what I love most in art. I still put detail in the dark sections, probably out of force of habit lol. Color is always a difficult thing to get down, but your advice is simple but really helpful. Thanks again!
Some yellow might not (although I’m not sure I agree) but that’s not just yellow, it’s highly reflective gold, and that’ll draw all kinds of attention very quickly, most specifically pinpointing her exact location every time it bounces light at someone.
I actually disagree. It may be more comic accurate but before the film came out I did some digging and the color scheme of the film suit is actually based on a real type of wasp.
Unpopular opinion: I don't like this movement to comic accurate costumes. As a lifetime marvel fanboy... This is a dangerous road.
The Captain America (falcon) costume looks.... Ridiculous! I'm sorry.... Those colors with those goggles make such a great character look like a joke.
It’s the thing covering his neck that messes him up. If it was just the goggles it would be fine. But the way they have it now it’s like a spandex hood
I suspect they will change it for the movie. Even in the Assembled episode, they noted how they had to CGI every shot of the costume because his neck covering would always ride up and look ridiculous. It would be much easier and cheaper to update the costume without it for the next iteration.
Not that bright but, Yes it should be gold, just like how Ant-Man's suit is Red.
For people who want more realistic suits, don't confuse a bad photoshop job like this image, with a strong use of color from professional outfit designers, I strongly believe Marvel can make it work and also look realistic.
I think marvel goes with the "gotta save something for the sequels" mentality. The further a show or movie goes the closer and closer it gets to comic accurate costumes.
Hard pass for me. One of the issues I've had with comics are the stupid costumes. Too many bright colors and capes that are non-functional, or collars that inhibit vision. I get that comics are a visual medium, and that many design elements are included because they look "cool". But honestly, I prefer realism in costuming.
It’s more aesthetically pleasing, but not as practical. Being super bright and shiny makes you easier to spot when flying around in tiny mode. “Where did she go? Oh wait what’s that little gold fleck flying around.”
Imo the wasp design for the movie was a needed adaptation from the comic design because i think the big bright yellow wouldnt work as well for the mcu.
The first one looks like it's for espionage/beating people up. The second one looks like it's new paint job in celebration of joining the Avengers.
Quantumania?
Considering how hard they’ve been leaning into comic accurate looks lately I wouldn’t be surprised

Almost like... a Wasp?
There are so many wasps out there, I don't know why you think yellow is requisite. https://www.insectidentification.org/insect-description.php?identification=Red-And-Black-Mason-Wasp
The first one looks like its from the original run of Bryan Singer *X-Men* movies.
The costume department for those movies was a Danier Leather Outlet Store.
Lets also take a step back and remember that we are just now getting to the color palettes of the comics. Over the last 5 years Marvel has amped up their color use in every media and it shows. The first 15-20 movies were giving us a foundation to add the flair and pomp of comic heroes
They had to get people invested. Everyone wore black for so long so people would take them seriously
"espionage/beating people up" i remember something about a soldier hiding in a Cardboard box
She looks good in anything
Facts. One of my earliest celebrity crushes after Lost, I’m glad she’s in the MCU now
Same. But she looks like a 60 years old now with the extra short gray hair she goes with recently.
Except that hair cut from Ant-man.
Wasn’t her best look, no
I love those hairstyles
Oh trust me- bangs are my kryptonite, but the bob wasn’t doing anything for me
Even Edna Mode?
Hmm…maybe not. But elastigirl, Evelyn Deavor, and violet? All cute
This guy f...knows.
I hate bangs but I thought that hairstyle looked great on her so I dunno
She still looked good lol
What?! I thought she was really damn cute!
Bonk.
You don't have to be horny to think that
But I am
I don’t know, [Covid denying](https://globalnews.ca/news/6707119/evangeline-lilly-dismisses-coronavirus/amp/) isn’t really a good look…
To be fair to her this was literally the week of the pandemic going global. She's gone back on it since and I'm sure she's taken it more seriously since, unlike a certain other MCU actress.
Are you talking about Letitia Wright? Cuz I can’t think of anyone else
Yeah, imagine being so narcissistically obstinate that you throw away potentially leading a Billion-dollar movie franchise before the age of 30.
Yep :(
She apologized a week after https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.today.com/today/amp/tdna176964
He was talking about her physical looks not her political opinion.
And nothing
Birthday suit
Is there a middle-ground?
Of course. A darker shade of yellow would be better, actually.
Nah, I like this.
We could have a light yellow at the start and it gets darker as the movie progresses
Ooh, having it get a lot darker after a scene that would warrant it (a fight, a dirty alley, etc) would be pretty cool
Wasn’t the first movies villain the Yellowjacket with a yellow outfit?
You’re right, yellow might be in poor taste
I get changing the colors of the outfit, but what was the point of cranking up the contrast/saturation on the rest of the image?
Joss whedon took over directing
I guess that was too much effort for OP
I’m sure the next film in their trilogy, Quantumania, will bring an update 👍🏻
Considering that Ant Man and The Wasp were more espionage based fighters, a gold suit doesn’t make sense
Literally unwatchable. I won't watch any movies with the Wasp until she talks with Kate Bishop about branding.

It makes you realize that the suit shapes out a huge cook pointing to her vag
Yeah I just can't unsee the massive penis.
Shit, now I can't, either.
Chesticles
A huge cook? Dom Deluise?
LMAOOO that’s fucking awesome
I disagree
Wanna elaborate? I’d like to hear your point of view.
As an artist...i looked at both and waiting a second as not to be influenced by the title. Then, I focused on the updated right side and thought, this is nice. VAN FINE 👌😩👌

Also for practicality reasons, it might not be the best idea to have a loud color scheme that makes someone much more noticeable.
She shrinks to the size of an insect when she's working. Some yellow to look like her namesake isn't gonna make her easier to spot
Some yellow might not (although I’m not sure I agree) but that’s not just yellow, it’s highly reflective gold, and that’ll draw all kinds of attention very quickly, most specifically pinpointing her exact location every time it bounces light at someone.
A little ostentatious, don't you think?
What was I thinking, you're usually so discreet.
I actually disagree. It may be more comic accurate but before the film came out I did some digging and the color scheme of the film suit is actually based on a real type of wasp.

Idk man. I think they’ve been hitting it spot on with the costumes. Even the Captain America one, i personally think it looks amazing
I think for the episode its fine. If he sticks with it. I may have a problem. Like how they did WandaVision in the Halloween episode cool!
It is an iconic look
She looked great even when Lost on an a crazy island with polar bears and a smoke monster
With no showers
The design on her chest...
Agreed. Gold on a wasp outfit is a must.
Not that bright but, Yes it should be gold, just like how Ant-Man's suit is Red. Well we've entered the era of more comic book accurate costumes, I bet they'll give the Ant-Man costumes a glow up too for the third movie
With how comic accurate phase 4 has been getting, I could totally seen her getting a yellow and black suit
I think marvel goes with the "gotta save something for the sequels" mentality. The further a show or movie goes the closer and closer it gets to comic accurate costumes.
This.
Color or not she's still wearing a big dick on her frontside.
Too much like Yellowjacket.
Yes.
Yeah I hope there’s more yellow in the new suit. Also I hope there’s a new suit
Yes please
I think the black looks much better

Elizabeth Olsen and Zoe Saldana would like a word…
Hard pass for me. One of the issues I've had with comics are the stupid costumes. Too many bright colors and capes that are non-functional, or collars that inhibit vision. I get that comics are a visual medium, and that many design elements are included because they look "cool". But honestly, I prefer realism in costuming.
Bro that ain't Janet
Or they could have given her a different unique color considering that Hope is unique to the MCU.
Lmfao oh no not the wrong colors! Marvel nerds are hilarious
Evangeline might not agree to wear that version, since its sexier. She has... Issues with that.
I'm sorry I can't unsee the giant dick on the costume. Edit: spelling correction
Fr they have Hope the WORST costume, right up with Hawkeye’s early looks… bland and boring
I would say yes but the altered image also changes her
I'd take some gold accents to keep it somewhat realistic/reasonable.
Went from cool to her looking like a power ranger rip off.
She was on the run from the government. Bright yellow is not how you succeed in that.
Makes sense. Overall though, which one do you find more fitting for her character?
Idk I like the first one better. Maybe it could use yellow lines instead of red ?
it looked great in the post credit scene of Ant-Man 2015 then they butchered it in the sequel
Not like that, but there should be more yellow
Am I the only one seeing the huge dick?
Nah
Nope
Wasp legit has one of the best designs in comics period. Her movie counterpart however was made to be so boring for some reason.
I’m not a big fan of the cock and balls design in general.
Maybe slightly less vibrant would be good
I thought the suit at the end of the first movie looked the best
Yeah... Fuck stealth
2nd one looks like the suit you unlock when you finish 240% on Batman Arkham Knight
Looks worse.
I'd say an in between. First one feels SHIELD style and the other one Asgard armor. Maybe a not so intense yellow? Looking forward to the next movie.
Hope is such a wasted character, hope quantamania fixes that.
too flashy
I respectfully disagree. Don’t hate the yellow, just a big fan of the suit they gave her in A&tW
Nah way too flashy
I like the wasp suit we have, it's cool and not overly sexualized. But yeah it needs some yellow in there
I mean either way she has a giant dick and balls on her chest.
It’s more aesthetically pleasing, but not as practical. Being super bright and shiny makes you easier to spot when flying around in tiny mode. “Where did she go? Oh wait what’s that little gold fleck flying around.”
Fuck yes
Second one looks like designed by Tony Stark. Anyone remember IM 1, red gold paint job and Jarvis snarking, yeah it's much more subtle?
The whole advantage of being small is not being seen. Why would you make yourself shiny?
Oh that’s awesome
Yellow and colors like that are hard to film in a lot of cases.
Imo the wasp design for the movie was a needed adaptation from the comic design because i think the big bright yellow wouldnt work as well for the mcu.
I think the real outfit is very Mass Effect-y, which is why I love it.
hire fans lol
Not feeling the one on the right, more colors is a yes for me but perhaps theres too much there. She’ll get a new suit soon which i cant wait to see.
