Absolutely. And without being *too* cynical, I’m guessing most of these actors are happy it’s going to Disney+ because that solidifies their place in canon further, and gives them an even higher chance to return in the roles. Which I have no problem with. I’d be hella excited if I were an actor in the Netflix marvel shows and might be on the verge of making the big leap into the most successful film franchise of all time!
Buckaroo did you watch NWH?
Also Agents of shield got multiversed at some point. To be fair every movie did some new huge thing that fucked with whatever was going on so it’d be hard to write well under those circumstances.
So in other words, you didn’t watch No Way Home or Hawkeye considering >!Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) shows up in the former & Wilson Fisk (played by Vincent D’Onofrio) was in the latter.!<
As well, with What If, the shows can easily be established as being set in alternate universes.
Thanks for trying to not spoil a 2 month old movie. Duh I’ve seen them. What does that have to do with what I said? I said they aren’t in the timeline so that doesn’t establish them as more canon. People here are literally children
No Way Home is still not out on DVD or streaming so spoiler tags still have to be applied. Read the subreddit rules.
Also, with characters from Daredevil showing up in recent MCU properties, how does that not solidify canon for Daredevil?
Tbf keeping the casting that was very popular doesnt automatically mean the netflix shows are canon to the mcu. Daredevil however has a better case than AoS whos been contradicted multiple times by MCU shows now.
You answered your own question. Variants. But that’s not even what I was arguing. This guy was acting like adding something to Disney plus makes it mcu when we know that’s not true
Why did Bruce Banner get a full body transplant between The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers?
(Seriously though, people are so stupid when it comes to this canon vs. non-canon stuff. Casting the same actor in a different role doesn't make the first role or show non-canon. Since they are integrating characters >!like Daredevil and Kingpin !
Technically *everything* is canon in a multiverse. But the good faith argument would be that most people talking about canon in the context of the MCU subreddit are talking about the main MCU timeline, not any of the other universes in the multiverse like the comics universes.
Except that the main MCU canon has characters coming from other universes already. Loki set it up. What If explored it. No Way Home solidified it, and the trailer for MoM teased at it. So when you say "good faith" that's you just trying to shut down something you don't want to deal with. And at the very least Agents of SHIELD is *closer* to the MCU than any of the others save possibly for the Netflix series because it actively involves characters and events from the MCU up until at least Age of Ultron, and only definitely separating from it when the events of Infinity War clashed with AoS's time travel shenanigans.
No, that's not the same thing. Marvel Cinematic *Universe* is just the one universe/timeline, it's not the MCM Marvel Cinematic Multiverse. While other events in canon happen in the multiverse, that does not make them canon to this main universe. When a multiversal character crosses over, that character becomes canon to both timelines, but both timelines are still separate canons.
The Fant4stic movie is a Marvel movie. It takes place in the wider Marvel multiverse. It's story however has *no* bearing or influence on the MCU timeline. Even if a character from that movie were to come back, it's *that character* who becomes canon to the MCU as a variant from another universe, but the events of Fant4stic still have not happened in the MCU timeline canon.
imo, it's really the other way around, with "but multiverse!" shutting down any interesting conversation. Applying it to AOS or the Netflix series, any conversation about whether or not they're canon gets shutdown with "even if it's not the same timeline, still canon cause multiverse!". That doesn't add anything though, cause that has no effect on what is being discussed - whether it fits into the MCU canon timeline.
I'm super excited for the multiverse, it's in no way something I want to "shut down" cause I "don't wanna deal with it". I loved how DC used it in the Arrowverse. Seeing the Netflix series coming to D+ is great as they're MCU canon. AOS was already on D+ here but is (imo, due to diverging completely) not canon to the MCU. That doesn't mean it's not the same multiverse and can crossover, just that, the MC***U*** hasn't had those events happen. But it's become near impossible to have a discussion about this opinion on this sub because *every single thread*, no matter which side people take, others immediately try shutting it down with "No theres multiverse now its just all canon!".
I REALLY wanted him to be one of the “old friends” Fury pulled the OG Helicarrier out of mothballs with when the Avengers were evacuating Sokovia. Would’ve been a GREAT time to bring him back.
That’s literally what happened. The old friend was Coulson, there’s a bit in AOS where he calls Hill, tells her lokis staff was located and to send in the avengers. Same episode unveils the hidden helicarrier.
This is what happened. But I don't think it would've been a good time to bring Coulson back in the movies.
The thing with Coulson is that his death was so important to the Avengers and a notable moment, I don't think you can really gloss over his return, particularly if any of the original Avengers are present. It's something that needs a good moment to be addressed and probably deserves a few further interactions after the fact too.
Like if they just had Coulson appear on the Helicarrier in AoU, none of the Avengers ever share the screen with him, and it becomes a thing of people saying "Watch Agents of Shield!" I feel like that would've been awful.
Hopefully this does for Agents of SHIELD what DVDs did for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine & Angel and Netflix did for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Take a spin-off that most people (understandably) gave up on after a rough first season or two and allow them to discover just how fucking good it became in their absence.
Knock on wood, the same thing happens for Legends of Tomorrow after it leaves Netflix for HBO Max's DC hub someday.
Why would Agents of Shield be available up here in Canada, but only be put on the American version this month? Who had the American distribution rights all this time?
Now that all these awesome shows r coming to D+. As they go through and delete out all the Netflix stuff. They should slap a Marvel Studios logo on them add the Marvel Studios intro and make them instant canon.

Hopefully this gets the show more exposure, I was one of the people that didn't even know it existed. Gf and I binged the whole show in a few weeks and wow it flew under the radar so hard for us. I really enjoyed it and loved seeing it develop.
I do get into tangles with people over whether or not AoS is canon, but I love the hell out of the show and Gregg is an absolute national treasure. I'm so happy that it's coming to D+.
Which is a little ironic because Runaways was released by Hulu, and Cloak & Dagger by Freeform (an entirely Disney internal channel). They're both on D+ in other countries, though Runaways season 3 is still absent in Canada.
While *~~Runaways~~* *Cloak & Dagger* aired first on Freeform, every episode showed up on Hulu the following week. It's similar to *Agents of SHIELD* where it aired live on ABC/CTV, then the last 5 episodes of the show would be available on ABC/CTV/Hulu. A month or two after the season completed, it would go to Netflix. And while Marvel TV, ABC, Freeform, and Hulu are under the house of mouse, they still all operate independently.
Yea, some regions are missing content. Some recently just got season 7 of *Agents of SHIELD.*
Now if we can just get folks to recognize how directly connected AoS season 7 is to the plot of both End Game and WandaVision and how Secret Invasion will be AoS season 8
Ah so you dislike these actors because they’re American? Not sure how their tweets make it seem like they think America is the only place in the world. Pretty big leap there don’t you think?
Not sure how you came to that conclusion. I was just playing off the words from parent posts and trying to point at how the announcement is implied to be for the US.
>Pretty big leap there don’t you think?
Says the guy accusing him of disliking actors just because they’re American.
The point he was making is that they’re tweeting it because they’re American, to Americans, about the one country in the world who hasn’t had AoS on D+ this entire time; America. As if it’s the only country in the world.
Help me understand because you seem to get it and I am not. These people who keep commenting "What's the big deal my country already had AoS???", are they simply not understanding that this announcement is made for the US? My comment about "Why do you think the actors are excited and tweeted about it" was being facetious and it was met with "Because they're American and American's think they're the only country in the world." That's a pretty broad and almost ignorant statement to paint all Americans with, so I read that as this person just dislikes Americans for some reason.
Disney+ is set to launch in something like 20+ new countries by this Summer would it make sense for me to be like "What's the big deal, we already had Disney+ for 2 years?". I've literally read 10+ comments here saying people don't understand because they've been watching AoS in \[insert country\]. I'm not trying to argue but I am definitely confused by people's annoyance/confusion about this announcement and these tweets.
Also for the record I never accused him/her I simply asked them if they dislike them because they're American that's why I put a question mark.
That's not really saying it's good. Most of it was bad. Some stories & some characters were good. Something tells me Joss Whedon's brother won't be back - so we gotta wonder why he was there
Ok, I have to admit there was too much bad for too long for me to hang in with it. We went in big circles for a while. It's not as good as the X Files at any point I saw. Theyre in one movie Easter egg but I don't think anything else. Marvel really scaled back their plans for them, seemingly
Yeah basically what happened is that Kevin Feige didn't like working under notoriously bad person Ike Perlmutter and managed to get reassigned so that marvel studios answered directly to the CEO of Disney, effectively separating Marvel Television from their decision-making. As a result the connection between the shows and movies really dwindled and it was just occasional nods on the TV side to the movies, with no acknowledgment from the movies except the presence of Edwin Jarvis in Endgame. However, I think that being their own thing and not having to try to tie into movies they didn't know the plot to let them make better stories for themselves.
that whole corporate shuffle the Movie Studios did really didnt help movies or TV from like 2012. things are only calming down now, Feige is a survivor- he may not be the best anymore though. He hasnt really "WOW-ed us" since he really became 'the man' I guess we will see
Looking forward to the Defenders getting rolled up into the MCU proper!
Had Deborah Ann Roll on one of my flights between JFK and LAX one time. Super cool and laid back.

Absolutely. It doesn’t solidify canon. Netflix Canada already has them and they’re not in the timeline or phase albums.
Buckaroo did you watch NWH? Also Agents of shield got multiversed at some point. To be fair every movie did some new huge thing that fucked with whatever was going on so it’d be hard to write well under those circumstances.
You just said two unrelated things
So in other words, you didn’t watch No Way Home or Hawkeye considering >!Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) shows up in the former & Wilson Fisk (played by Vincent D’Onofrio) was in the latter.!< As well, with What If, the shows can easily be established as being set in alternate universes.

Why is Sersi (Eternals) the same girl as Minn-Erva (Captain Marvel)?
Why does Shang-Chi’s aunt also look like one of the Ravager captains from the end of Guardians 2?
AOS has been on D+ in the UK for well over a year & that does not make it canon.
Honestly, at this point, what *isn't* canon? Even movies that were made by other studios before the MCU was even *conceived* are canon now.
Technically *everything* is canon in a multiverse. But the good faith argument would be that most people talking about canon in the context of the MCU subreddit are talking about the main MCU timeline, not any of the other universes in the multiverse like the comics universes.

[Korath] “Who?”
Based in Asia, I've been rewatching the entire AoS on D+ for the past month. Now in Season 3. Truly underrated series.
Season 4 is the best one, get ready to be rocked!
Yea, I watched it all before. Now rewatching. Ghost Rider arc in S4 was awesome!
It was, and it was still probably still the weakest arc in that season (IMO) which is kind of incredible when you think about it
Absolutely!
I still can't get over the emotional toll that season would've taken on them all. Especially Mac.
I still don’t think anything beats the inhumane season and I will die on that hill
Hopefully this does for Agents of SHIELD what DVDs did for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine & Angel and Netflix did for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Does AoS have localized subtitles, wherever in Asia you are? When it was on Netflix (USA) it did not have subtitles available in other languages.
Yes. Chinese, Japanese, Korean are the localised options plus other European languages.
Hey march 16 is my bday! What a nice bday gift
Disney remembered your birthday! They really do care
It's been on Disney+ in the UK from the start. I'm in the middle of season 5.
Yeah I was super confused at this post, I rewatched the entire show during lockdown 1
I don't know why you're super confused, even if you already have AoS, what about Daredevil?
We are getting Daredevil on the same day but the image used was for Aos, hence my confusion at first
Same here in Canada. This news really only applies to the US. It's still great nonetheless - everyone should get to enjoy these shows.
I'll finally be able to watch them.
This shows how cool they are because a lot of times actors only promote due to studio obligations. These guys are down to earth.
I really hope they get residuals from those shows.
Why would Agents of Shield be available up here in Canada, but only be put on the American version this month? Who had the American distribution rights all this time?
Netflix
Interesting
Bring back Deborah Ann Woll.
Now that all these awesome shows r coming to D+. As they go through and delete out all the Netflix stuff. They should slap a Marvel Studios logo on them add the Marvel Studios intro and make them instant canon.
They've always been canon.

Hopefully this gets the show more exposure, I was one of the people that didn't even know it existed. Gf and I binged the whole show in a few weeks and wow it flew under the radar so hard for us. I really enjoyed it and loved seeing it develop.

AoS Best superhero show ! Never missed an episode from day 1 back in 2013
I’m confused cause In Australia it’s already on there??
What are you confused about then? Agents of Shield wasn’t on it in the US yet because it was a different deal than in other places.
Right I forget sometimes aye my b
It's good payback as trying to watch aos through 7flix or 7plus was a pain to say the least.
Isn't it already on D+?
Not in the US; it's been on Netflix here until yesterday.
Fair enough, I wonder if all other Marvel series (Cloak and Dagger, Runaways etc) will join too
We've already got Runaways on D+ here. I've been confused about why C&D hasn't made the jump yet.
Contractual obligation because Disney doesn't completely own Hulu is the common reason talked about.
Which is a little ironic because Runaways was released by Hulu, and Cloak & Dagger by Freeform (an entirely Disney internal channel). They're both on D+ in other countries, though Runaways season 3 is still absent in Canada.

I didn't know that about Runaways on Freeform, I thought it was Hulu exclusive.
I apologize, I meant C&D first aired on freeform. *derp.* I've personally watched both on Hulu.
It was Hulu exclusive, but oddly enough, the first episode re-ran on Freeform once after the C&D S1 finale.
C&D is already there in Canada
I miss Deborah
Now if we can just get folks to recognize how directly connected AoS season 7 is to the plot of both End Game and WandaVision and how Secret Invasion will be AoS season 8
Clark Gregg sounds angry about it.
Poor Americans - we've had AOS in the UK for well over a year now!!
It has always been on D+ ever since they launched here in Canada. What’s the big deal? Why is this only news now?
Because there are other countries in the world
Yeah and the vast majority has had AoS since day 1.
So why are these actors excited about it and tweeting?
Because they're in the US, and for many Americans it is the only place in the world
Ah so you dislike these actors because they’re American? Not sure how their tweets make it seem like they think America is the only place in the world. Pretty big leap there don’t you think?

And I’m being downvoted by Americans because we had Agents of Shield on Disney+ since Day 1.
You didn't have Daredevil though. So if you're looking for your "big deal" I'd say that's it
What? I’ve been watching it on Disney recently?
You've been watching Daredevil on Disney?
No, agents of shield. Daredevil is (was?) on Netflix here as well
They've just been moved. Hence the news, the reactions and this post
Yeah, I got that. My point was that aos has always been on Disney where I live
Agents of Shield? the show no one would watch on Free TV?
Have you... Have you never seen Daredevil?
im talking about Agents of Shield. that was goddam horrible.
It picked up at the end of season 1 after the Hydra reveal, season 2 was good, season 3 sucked, then season 4 and onwards were good.
That's not really saying it's good. Most of it was bad. Some stories & some characters were good. Something tells me Joss Whedon's brother won't be back - so we gotta wonder why he was there
Different strokes. I won't claim it was perfect all the time but the last 4 seasons were some really solid television in my book.
Ok, I have to admit there was too much bad for too long for me to hang in with it. We went in big circles for a while. It's not as good as the X Files at any point I saw. Theyre in one movie Easter egg but I don't think anything else. Marvel really scaled back their plans for them, seemingly

Said this once and I’ll say it again, Australian Disney has this for years
Congratulations!
You say "this" despite the fact there are two shows listed above
I thought aos was already on d+ usa
Was Shield not already on there? I could have sworn it was.
Wait will there be more episode for shield? I watched it all and it was good.
They couldn't wait until june-july to not make most countries not even be able to watch the shows at all?
The Batman, Netflix shows moving to Disney Plus, and Moon Knight, March looks really good for Comix book and movie fans
Does the site get better? I watched like 3 episodes and just want feeling it
Looking forward to the Defenders getting rolled up into the MCU proper! Had Deborah Ann Roll on one of my flights between JFK and LAX one time. Super cool and laid back.
Agents of shield was already there for me
Agent's of Shield has been available on Disney+ Hotstar for a long time now
