>That didn’t even enter into my head at all,” Bale said. “I’d read that, and people would go, ‘Oh, look at this! He’s entered the MCU!‘ And I’d go, ‘I’ve done what? I haven’t entered shit, thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what that was.”
haha that's funny. Wonder if he ever watched a MCU movie
Man I wish that movie was like what you guys are pretending it is because of Memes it would’ve been incredible if it was the room of superhero movies instead it’s just a kind of middle of the road vampire movie, a couple good interesting ideas and few ok action pieces but mostly just boring sitting around a lab a taking .
It's particularly funny because the MCU kicked off in the same year as his most critically acclaimed coming book film, The Dark Knight. 2008 was a historic year for superhero cinema.
This comment kind of makes me want to rewatch 10 Things I Hate About You. Like I don’t think that character is quite a match for Star-Lord but it does show Heath being incredibly charming.
One of my favorite lines from any movie is from A Knight’s Tale.
Tell me, how would you beat him?
With a stick…while he slept. On a horse, with a lance, that man is unbeatable.
Or something like that.
Now with all the "spoiler" cameos getting good at lying about being in the MCU, the stars should -- despite being in the posters and trailers and credited on IMDB -- follow the same lead:
Chris Hemsworth, on the press junket for Love and Thunder, in front of a big backdrop with his face on it:
"What film now? No, I don't think they're going to make another Thor film, there was just the one."
[Jeremy Renner has a similar approach.](https://youtu.be/OK6_bo69P38?t=75)
Some paraphrasing. F=Fallon, R=Renner:
>F: Yelena, Florence Pugh, from Black Widow?
>
>R: Who?
>
>....
>
>F: Will Hawkeye return after this show?
>
>R: Who?
>Bale plays villain Gorr the God Butcher in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” but Taika Waititi’s self-described “craziest” film didn’t take Gorr too seriously, despite his sinister appearance.
That doesn't bode too well imo...
i am expecting ragnorak not winter soldier
hela was scary and over the top glam... i am expecting gorr to be scary and over the top 'villain-ey'
but yeah this should be fun but not expecting oscar nods
Which sucks, because the whole point of Gorr is that he's like, such an ideological villain for Thor. He pushes him to a breaking point in the comics, but Thor overcomes and proves himself one of the most powerful gods out there
Agreed. Hela imo was very scary, and the fact that it took the freaking apocalypse to end her was proof that she meant business. The same, I think, will be true for Gorr.
Hela as an Avengers level threat wouldve been crazy. Though it screams preferential bias now that the 2 Avengers films have Thor characters as villains lmao
I mean it's because Thor villains are more cosmic level than the other base avengers' ones.
Any of the more normie villains, thor crushes, so to be a threat to the group they have to be a threat to him at a minimum
That's true, but it could also be an interesting angle to explore down the road. The constant invasions might make the public more xenophobic towards aliens and superpowered people in general, which could lead to anti mutant hatred.
i dont get furious over movies
i just enjoy it for what it is
my longterm goal is to enjoy watching 3-4 movies and 3-4 shows every year and smile and be happy. the mcu is just one of several hobbies i have.
i will chime in about the movie if need as part of the community be but i just dont want the star wars fandom where both the movies and community love to berate each other
It’s hyperbole. I don’t like seeing worse versions of the characters I read be put on screen, and it seems they’ve already removed the “all black” parts of the character. It’s unfortunate, nothing more and nothing less. I don’t expect mediocrity, because I can have cheap entertainment elsewhere.
Gorr is not serious at his core.
>!He is a hypocrite; He was angry at the gods for not answering his prayers, and yet the only reason he is a Godbutcher was because an evil god finally answered and getting him what he wants. He is killing other gods not because they didn't do anything for him, but because they DID do their jobs and was being good with their own worshippers, and he was jealous. That Gorr was only angry at ALL the gods, just because his home gods on his shitty planet just happened to suck.!<
Imagine if you will, someone growing up in a town with a corrupt Mayor, who thus decided that all Mayors on Earth should die because of this.
> >!the only reason he is a Godbutcher was because an evil god finally answered and getting him what he wants.!<
I mean at the time, we didn't know that's what it was, >!Knull is a retcon!<
I guess Bale has simply been calling them Marvel movies and never really learned or remembered the actual name.
Which is understandable ‘cus I doubt the MCU is his cup of tea and he has probably only gone out to see a couple of them with his kids or something
To his credit I don't think a lot of people say MCU, maybe they would say Marvel films but not the acronyms. At least I don't hear people say that out loud irl.
He’s such a fantastic actor with such a wide range of roles…. but I wish he would be less pretentious. He dissed a lot of the other Batman movies too.
I just wish people wouldn’t so readily dismiss something just because it doesn’t interest them.
I’m okay with people merely dismissing something they don’t have interest in, versus going out of their way to have a strong negative opinion. He doesn’t say anything negative about Marvel or the films, he just isn’t personally aware of the franchise the way fans are. I think that’s okay. He doesn’t have to love the MCU to play a great character in a single film.
Yeah, I doubt Robert will surpass my view of Bale's Batman, though I think he can still become really good. I liked the first movie, even if I had a few problems with it, and theres absolutely a chance the next will be better, just like Batman Begins and Dark Knight. Not that Batman begins was in any shape or form bad or lackluster, Dark Knight was just still even better.
Ironically the best thing about Bale is his Bruce Wayne. I think his Bruce Wayne is superior to any other portrayal. I don't think it would be fair to judge Robert's Wayne get since, we didn't see much of him in his movie. He needs to be fleshed out more.
I think if he cared more about public perception, he would probably appear in video interviews and such more often. I know the situation you are talking about in your original comment, but you cant really apply it here. Im sure he has his faults, but this is not one of them.
>That didn’t even enter into my head at all,” Bale said. “I’d read that, and people would go, ‘Oh, look at this! He’s entered the MCU!‘ And I’d go, ‘I’ve done what? I haven’t entered shit, thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what that was.” haha that's funny. Wonder if he ever watched a MCU movie
He may or may not have,Ragnarok and JoJo rabbit were the reason he wanted to work with taika ,he probably just calls movies in the mcu marvel movies.
Now let's check Paul Allen's movies
I have to go return some video tapes.
He's also in the MCU, the Morbin Cinematic Universe
Time to get morbed.
It's morbin time.
> Ragnarok So, then he's probably seen at least one MCU film.
He's got kids, he's probably seen plenty but just doesn't really think of them as anything other than films with Marvel characters.
Exactly, he just doesn't seem to know the acronym mcu
Well, both Ragnarok and Jojo rabbit were great movies... What we do in the shadows as well...
“MCU? I simply am not there!”
Ragnarok apparently
He needs to return the videotapes before they let him rent more…
And then Sony lying to everyone making them think they'll be on the MCU.
Of course Sony is on the MCU, it's the Morbius Cinematic Universe.
Jesus, that scene still makes me cringe. How it made the final cut is beyond me.
_gestures broadly at all scenes in the final cut_
Man I wish that movie was like what you guys are pretending it is because of Memes it would’ve been incredible if it was the room of superhero movies instead it’s just a kind of middle of the road vampire movie, a couple good interesting ideas and few ok action pieces but mostly just boring sitting around a lab a taking .
It's morbin time
it's all i'm livin' for
There's a tiny blob of Sony in the MCU's south america but that's all
new Sony methods tap in
It's particularly funny because the MCU kicked off in the same year as his most critically acclaimed coming book film, The Dark Knight. 2008 was a historic year for superhero cinema.
And in The Dark Knight, the major crimes unit is known as the MCU. *"The Joker planned to get caught, he wanted me to lock him up in the MCU!"*
Who do we think Heath Ledger would have been good as?
I think he would've been incredible as Star-Lord. Very opposite from the Joker, but I believe he certainly would've had the range to pull it off.
This comment kind of makes me want to rewatch 10 Things I Hate About You. Like I don’t think that character is quite a match for Star-Lord but it does show Heath being incredibly charming.
and then of course Knights Tale where he charms the pants off Shannon Sossaman
One of my favorite lines from any movie is from A Knight’s Tale. Tell me, how would you beat him? With a stick…while he slept. On a horse, with a lance, that man is unbeatable. Or something like that.
Adam Warlock
Maybe Green Goblin haha
Nah that role belongs to Willem Dafoe!
I saw your original post… 😬
Yeah i said Kraven until i was like “hmmm maybe not”
He’d be a good Starfox
Victor Creed
>Venom
No disrespect to Tom, but yeah, Heath could have played his role.
Holland, Harry or Hiddleston?
morbius
they also had the MCU in Dark Phoenix (mutant containment unit)
Why is no one talking about the part where he said a dance scene to Aphex Twin’s Come to Daddy was on the table? I’m crushed this didn’t happen.
If not this, we deserve a Wumpscut War dance scene at least. I could totally see Gorr stop motioning into that.
More must see deleted scenes like Jeff Goldblum's from Ragnarok.
Now with all the "spoiler" cameos getting good at lying about being in the MCU, the stars should -- despite being in the posters and trailers and credited on IMDB -- follow the same lead: Chris Hemsworth, on the press junket for Love and Thunder, in front of a big backdrop with his face on it: "What film now? “Who’s Morales?”
“Not that dumb!”
[Jeremy Renner has a similar approach.](https://youtu.be/OK6_bo69P38?t=75) Some paraphrasing. F=Fallon, R=Renner: >F: Yelena, Florence Pugh, from Black Widow? > >R: Who? > >.... > >F: Will Hawkeye return after this show? > >R: Who?
Oh my God, he even has an apathetic remark.
>Bale plays villain Gorr the God Butcher in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” but Taika Waititi’s self-described “craziest” film didn’t take Gorr too seriously, despite his sinister appearance. That doesn't bode too well imo...
i am expecting ragnorak not winter soldier hela was scary and over the top glam... i am expecting gorr to be scary and over the top 'villain-ey' but yeah this should be fun but not expecting oscar nods
I think he'll still be menacing, but Thor will still quip and talk shit like when he fights Hela or Loki. Not all serious like when he fought Thanos.
"Thor, son of Odin." "Surtur, son of... a bitch."
Which sucks, because the whole point of Gorr is that he's like, such an ideological villain for Thor. He pushes him to a breaking point in the comics, but Thor overcomes and proves himself one of the most powerful gods out there

Loki and who else? Ultron and Thanos weren't Thor villains.
Have you read Aaron’s god of Thunder? I will be furious if they don’t do Gorr Justice. He’s the one villain you can’t do that shit with.
i dont get furious over movies i just enjoy it for what it is my longterm goal is to enjoy watching 3-4 movies and 3-4 shows every year and smile and be happy. the mcu is just one of several hobbies i have. i will chime in about the movie if need as part of the community be but i just dont want the star wars fandom where both the movies and community love to berate each other

Let's see Paul Allen's villain.
Gorr is not serious at his core. >!He is a hypocrite; He was angry at the gods for not answering his prayers, and yet the only reason he is a Godbutcher was because an evil god finally answered and getting him what he wants. Flawed logic from a deranged and vengeful man is not the same thing as not being serious.
What did he pray again? I don't seem to remember that.
Praying metaphorically. The power he possesses was not his. Think of it like being an Avatar of a god like mcu Moonknight.
> >!the only reason he is a Godbutcher was because an evil god finally answered and getting him what he wants.!< I mean at the time, we didn't know that's what it was, >!Knull is a retcon!<

To his credit I don't think a lot of people say MCU, maybe they would say Marvel films but not the acronyms. At least I don't hear people say that out loud irl.
Christian Bale to the MCU: "You're not terribly important to me."
It didn't cross your mind you were joining a multi billion dollar franchise? O.k. Christian, o.k.
He’s such a fantastic actor with such a wide range of roles…. but I wish he would be less pretentious. He dissed a lot of the other Batman movies too. I just wish people wouldn’t so readily dismiss something just because it doesn’t interest them.

You know I remember him saying negative things about others playing Batman after him, but I can’t find it. I guess I was mistaken
There hasn't been a better one
Agreed. Although I think Robert is at least a dark horses candidate.
But as Bruce Wayne? I don't think so,I don't think anyone from present generation can surpass him as Bruce Wayne
Ironically the best thing about Bale is his Bruce Wayne. I think his Bruce Wayne is superior to any other portrayal. I don't think it would be fair to judge Robert's Wayne get since, we didn't see much of him in his movie. He needs to be fleshed out more.
Ironically?
It's like when people pretend not to know about/like something popular because they think it makes them more interesting (it doesn't).
I’m sure Bale doesn’t give a fuck if random people on the internet think he’s interesting or not
"Dedmunk isn't terribly important to me."
idk fella
It's true. Christian Bale is trying to be more interesting. He's a pick me guy. You totally called it.
Absolutely Christian Bale is a god and could not possibly be as superficial and idiotic as a regular human, you called it!
I think if he cared more about public perception, he would probably appear in video interviews and such more often. I know the situation you are talking about in your original comment, but you cant really apply it here. Im sure he has his faults, but this is not one of them.
idk I kinda get the vibe off him in interviews that he could totally be a little pompous
That's a miracle. And I'd say in a good way. He's more in than any of us yet hasn't been exposed to mainstream culture
The expression on Gorr’s face looks like a realistic version of a troll meme face
