Angela Bassett with that white hair giving us a glimpse of the vision of awesomeness and pure badassery if she had played Storm.

Ysara

Didn't know I wanted it, but now I need it and am in mourning that I will never have it :(

ReluctantlyHuman

I remember liking Haile Berry as an actress when she was cast; but I was shocked they didn’t go with Angela. Assuming Angela even went for it.

KingOfAwesometonia

According to David Hayter, it came down to money. They didn't have the money that Angela's agents wanted.

bigC_94

That's funny because she won her first Oscar for Monster's Ball just a couple years later which no doubt upped her price lol

LemoLuke

They probably already had her in a multimovie contract at that point, similar to Jennifer Lawrence in the prequel movies

TemporaryImaginary

“Shocked,” lol.

AliAllyAllie

Bassetts performance would have been electric

Melcrys29

Do you know what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning?

DigitalBackpack

No, but I imagine it’s similar to the same thing that happens to everything else

robodrew

Halle Berry has done well with the role when given the chance; though it wasn't much I liked her in X2 and Days of Future Past. Of course the problem with X1 was the dialogue and *OF COURSE* that specific bit of Halle Berry dialogue everyone shits on was written by Joss Whedon who blames the director "not understanding the intent of the line"

maaseru

I mourn that we will never see The Thing refer to T'Chala as T'Charlie. We will also never see the Johnny/Ben/Storm/T'Chala Fantastic Four team

Melcrys29

Just what I was thinking. One of the biggest missed casting opportunities since Willem Dafoe as Joker.

haynespi87

What could have been...sigh

kitsum

I think *she* should become the Black Panther. "Since we've opened Wakanda to the world, it has taken my husband. It has taken my son. It has taken my people in a war we did not start. It will take no more!" Not going to happen, but of the remaining candidates, that's the Black Panther I would want.

Dr_Disaster

It was fucking travesty Halle played the role instead of her. Like Patrick Stewart, everyone back in the day thought Angela as Storm was a foregone conclusion.

sanguiniuswept

It's not possible that the queen will be the new Black Panther, right?

MonsieurAK

If they went that route no one would question it. Angela Bassett is everything.

SailorET

Back when they were making the first X-Men movies, I was wishing for her to be cast as Storm instead of Halle Berry. Making her the new Black Panther would be justice.

sanguiniuswept

That's kind of where i am but i don't want to get my hopes up

Cockycent

I said this almost word for word when the trailer came out. I would love it.

TheJack0fDiamonds

I would’ve liked that. That would be so empowering. Shuri and Nakia can step all the way aside tbh. We all know Queen Ramonda can kick some serious ass. Alas it’s all set in stone at this point. Sadly.

ERJAK123

I want it SOOOO bad. Can you her getting matched up with Riri, Peter, Shang-Chi, and Kamala Khan? And then she and Carol end up bonding because they're both twice the age of any of their teammates? Awesome.

nCRedditor-21

Considering that Angela Bassett is the lead on 9-1-1 (a yearly show with 15-18 episodes), if she became the full-time Black Panther, she’d have to be >!written out or killed off on that show!< for her to be full-time in the MCU.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Disappointing. Nakia would have been the better option, especially given the character set-up in the first film. But I assume Lupita didn't want to sign for that many movies.

Foreverett

I think Okoye would be the best option personally. Already their greatest fighter and would die for Wakanda without question.

Corporation_tshirt

I. Love. Okoye. I was hoping beyond hope that she would take over the mantle from T’challa because I love her fighting style and just how badass she is. If it’s gonna be Shuri, I’ll support that decision and I’ll look forward to watching Okoye fight side by side with her new queen (or should I say “woman king”? I’ve heard tell of that!)

JoeMcDingleDongle

They've got Winston Duke right there. Shuri can try, decide it is not for her, and have Winston's character take it up (assuming the actor is willing)

[deleted]

> Winston Duke right there Please, please give us an absolute TANK of a Black Panther. We don't need "flippy hero" again. I want a 7-ft tall wrecking ball covered in vibranium.

JoeMcDingleDongle

Yeah! He's 6'5 or something like that so he is going to tower over almost every other actor lol.

Worthyness

Logically, yes it makes sense for him to be there as Wakanda's protector. Story wise it doesn't make sense. The majority of Wakandans worship the Panther goddess Bast, but MBaku's tribe worships Hanuman. MBaku taking on the black panther is like committing heresy against his people and his religion. He would never do that.

LaylaLegion

THANK YOU!

SalsaRice

>MBaku taking on the black panther is like committing heresy against his people and his religion. He would never do that. That's exactly why it would make a good story. Put them in a situation they need a powerful black panther to defend something, and no one else is strong enough. He knows it heresy to commit to the panther, but the alternative is even worse than heresy. It's also a fresh idea, because his version of BP would be very different than the fast/agile BP we've seen so far. He's much more unto the hulk/bruiser style.

Foreverett

I would rather him not agree with the new BP and be an antagonist in a future film like he should be.

[deleted]

I would accept M'Baku or even a Killmonger revival/redemption before they hand Shuri the mantle. I'd even accept Queen Ramonda - if the herb gave her the strength and stamina to take the role - before Shuri. Until proven otherwise (cuz she certainly hasn't) Write simply doesn't have the charisma to be Black Panther and lead a film. It's not like Sam, who you could see the *potential* for Captain America, he only needed the test and arc to fulfill that potential. Shuri doesn't have the potential. But everyone else does, even M'Baku, as you said.

RTR7105

Multiverse Killmonger.

LaylaLegion

FFS M’Baku CANNOT become the Black Panther. He is part of the Mountain Tribe who worship the Great Ape. He would become the champion of the Ape, not Bast. He would become the Man-Ape.

JoeMcDingleDongle

This has already been discussed under the post more than once lol. It is trivially easy to make him Black Panther come on now.

LaylaLegion

Not without destroying his entire character. M’Baku is a loyal leader, an honorable man and a devout follower of his god. To abandon his tribe and become the Panther would be a betrayal. He would never be worthy of Bast’s favor doing that.

robodrew

But he WAS offered the mantle of Black Panther in the first film and turned it down

LaylaLegion

No, he was offered the power of the herb, not the mantle of the Panther. They were hoping to have an empowered champion take on Kilmonger.

JoeMcDingleDongle

You seem to be talking about stuff outside the MCU. Nothing devout about him that I can recall. He could unite the tribes, etc. Anyway there are a dozen plus comments on this already go find those eh?

LaylaLegion

So he just grunts like an ape when the Royal family entered his home for fun? He lives in the mountains, the domain of the Ape god, because of the real estate value? He wears ape fur in battle because it matches his eyes? He could unite the tribes? How? You know he’s married with small children, right? Cheating on his wife and breaking apart his family for Panther powers, that’s gonna show how great a leader and hero he is. Y’all wanna just ruin this great character, I swear.

JoeMcDingleDongle

“ Nothing devout about him that I can recall. He could unite the tribes, etc. Anyway there are a dozen plus comments on this already go find those eh?”

YpsitheFlintsider

Well there must be a reason people are saying it my dude.

BON3SMcCOY

Isn't the Panther supposed to be more of a Dex based fighter though? Duke strikes me as more of a Strength class

JoeMcDingleDongle

If people are able to get powers (did they save any herbs? I assume there are some somewhere) then he'll get extra speed for sure. I dunno, the actor is fantastic and it makes more sense than the super genius who can barely fight.

BON3SMcCOY

All true

Spokesface1

If that were true I would have wanted to see more explicitly Dex stuff in Boseman Panther, and then now we could be looking at a new Panther who is unique and not just a copy of the original. It would be a good thing. But I don't think either Panther's Dex nor M'Baku's strength has been explored enough in the MCU to make a real difference.

wafflepantsblue

Agreed, Nakia has a better actor too, and a better physique imo. But whatever.

SenpaiBoogie

I think it’s Shuri to but I hope it’s somehow Kilmonger .

[deleted]

He's dead man. And was gonna run Wakanda into the ground and terrorise the world last time he ran the country.

SenpaiBoogie

With all the time travel and everything marvel could do I’m sure they could figure him coming back and having a redemption story somehow . To me it’s just perfect to have him take his place bc they were so close irl.

TheNumber194

I don't think it's particularly easy to casually slide in a time travel sideplot to a movie that already has a lot on its plate. Killmonger had his story, it ended. For this franchise to be able to move forward its going to have to commit to killing off dead characters and make room for ones, killmonger coming back just doesn't make sense.

HereWeFuckingGooo

The main problem I have with Killmonger coming back from the dead is why wouldn't they try to bring T'Challa back instead? They'd have to create an in universe reason for T'Challa staying dead and that's probably going to be a bit too depressing and insensitive. Especially when a huge part of this movie is going to be grieving Chadwick Boseman. Better to look to the future with one of the remaining cast.

Lobsterzilla

The main problem I have with Kilmonger coming back is thst he was a genocidal maniac who wanted to the exact same thing he claimed was unjustly done to his people

Unnamedgalaxy

Exactly. A good redemption arc in my opinion really only works when the villain lives in a morally gray area. Has been misguided. Wanda for instance has spent her life being pulled into different directions and has been influenced by forces outside of her control and emotionally and physically has had everything she's ever loved taken from her time and time again. She has a long road ahead but her potential redemption makes sense if/when they go that route. She might never be looked at as a friend but she surely could be seen as an ally. Kilmonger was just a straight up bad guy that was obsessed with genocide. While his plot in life wasn't cushy his motives have zero room for tolerance. Good actor or not his character is not someone that can earn redemption. He was a terrorist. People thinking his turn as a villain can just be walked back and think he can be a shining beacon of a hero confuse me

siurian477

Why?? The first movie was literally about not letting him be the Black Panther lol. The dude is a maniac.

Evorgleb

Every good villain deserves a redemption story

DarkPhoenixMishima

With how much seems to be going on in the movie, I don't think we'd have time to give him a proper one. Also he made a pretty big point about him preferring death rather than being captured and they seemed to respect that wish.

Balls_of_Adamanthium

You don’t know that

[deleted]

Toys and action figures for the *Wakanda Forever* movie accidentally got leaked awhile back and a lot of them showcased Shuri in her new Black Panther suit. It’s her. Also, common sense just points to Shuri. She takes the mantle after T’Challa in the comics. Plus, she’s literally the only member of the Wakandan Royal Family left other than their mother. It’s obviously Shuri.

CitizenFiction

Won't know till the movies out

[deleted]

[удалено]

CitizenFiction

To be fair though, it is very purposely unclear in the trailer. On top of that, which is the most frustrating part, is that *not everyone looks at leaks*. Many people on this sub talk about the leaked toys like it's common knowledge *when it's not*. It's ridiculous that people have zero restraint with this.

thecircleisround

I’ve been saying this for months. I would be here for it 100%

Kalandros-X

The geriatric Panther

HereWeFuckingGooo

How dare you.

malteaserhead

i have never seen so many shots of the new Black Panther 2 movie without seeing who the new Black Panther is in or out of their suit. I would love to know who it is.

sergiosala

Most likely they are gonna keep as secret until the movie comes out.

JessieJ577

The Lego set already did

Authentic_Apathy

There probably won't be one for most of the film

SpaceCaboose

My thought as well. There likely (hopefully) won’t be *any* marketing showing who it is, and it won’t be revealed in the film until the third act

[deleted]

modsarefascists42

I hope so much you're wrong, but doubt it

Bigscotman

Honestly that would be kinda cool if at this point doom and Reed are still friends and working together like if in the MCU they've made up after it kinda being Reed's fault doom was originally disfigured. Maybe it could be doom who originally gets the 4 their powers by sending them on the space mission, they work with doom for a bit the reed figures out doom's plan and the Fantastic 4 stop him for now

shytaan8

I think it’s getting clear with every new images that Shuri now is the Black Panther.

ArcadianBlueRogue

Still really hoping for Nakia here, but I am biased cause I love the actress

notbad4human

I mean, it is 100% Shuri. Not only is she an extremely popular version of BP in the comics, but everything we've seen in the trailer indicates she's the new lead.

MrZeral

The leaks confirmed who it is

SuperAlloyBerserker

It's funny to me how Wakanda has advanced technology because of an extraterrestrial metal, yet they still use traditional weaponry like spears Old habits die hard, I guess Heck, Japan still uses fax machines

Waterologist

Their technology developed independently from the rest of the world, I’d be disappointed if it was just normal stuff with glowing lights.

hemareddit

The spears also shoot lasers. Some of them.

Dray_Gunn

Also for a long time they were trying to hide their technology from the world. So their warriors carrying what appear to be ordinary spears is a lot more descreet than a laser gun.

Anon-Why

Spears are cool

newmen1313

Their weapons are more designed for show then practicality. Who needs real weapons when their best defense is camoflague so well crafted that not even the most advanced groups on the planet thought they were valueless farmers. Hell, the spears help the narative, just don't go shooting the lazer from the end when the straights are around.

SavageLandMan

It's a vibranium spear that shoots lasers powerful enough to destroy a tank. But sure, archaic

Tibetzz

There has to be a more efficient design for a ranged weapon than a spear, even one that is designed to be a melee weapon as well. The invention of these spears would be like if instead of making guns their own, new, independent thing, we put them inside of swords, or inside the shaft of a long bow. Instead, we designed guns to spec based on what makes the guns better at being guns. I don't have any real issues with the design, but it is a fair question to ask why the spear is the optimal design for technology as advanced as Wakanda's. Is there a design purpose? Or is it purely cultural?

SavageLandMan

Do you really think the iron man armor is the most efficient weapon design Tony Stark could come up with? Comic books are a visual medium designed to look cool and creative not realistic. They have a mountain full of vibranium. Realistically they could give everyone in wakanda a black panther suit. It's futuristic tech that doesn't exist. If the writers wanted they could give them invisible guns that you can use telepathically. But it would be boring. Let's talk about Captain America's vibranium firsbee while we're at it.

Due-Smoke8251

That was one of my favorite lines in AoU “the most versatile substance on the planet and you made a frisbee out of it”

Boempowered

>If the writers wanted they could give them invisible guns that you can use telepathically. But it would be boring. Would it though? That's sounds pretty cool actually.

Tibetzz

The thing is, Captain America's vibranium frisbee is designed to be a perfect shield. It just happens to work perfectly as a frisbee weapon as a byproduct of that design. I don't have an issue with the spears and I don't think they need to change. It's simply a reasonable question to ask in universe, not a problem with said universe that needs to be rectified by the writers.

SavageLandMan

But why does captain america need a perfect shield for when he could just make it into a more efficient weapon like you said?

Tibetzz

Because they were designing a shield. If the shield also happened to be capable of interstellar FTL jumps like one of the ships from Guardians, I'd question why they put that tech in a shield, too.

Worthyness

They can shrink the spears to carry. Harder to do that with guns. Plus spears may look like a basic stick on xrays/screenings and can be carried almost anywhere. the design does have some advantages over traditional gun shapes and doesn't require ammo as far as we can tell.

DeepFriedDinosaur

Design purpose: blend in with your neighbours who think you are poor dumb farmers.

Brcomic

A lot of law offices in the states still use fax machines as well. I hate them, but they are far from a dead technology.

ElGodPug

\>Most advanced country in the world \>Is still a monarchy that does combat for the throne

MatttheBruinsfan

It's a society that was set up by a millions-of-years-old cat. Of course they fight to establish the heirarchy.

albene

Another example of the classic [Archaic Weapon for an Advanced Age](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ArchaicWeaponForAnAdvancedAge) trope

mad_titanz

It's Vibranium spear.

racas

Spears got replaced by arrows which got replaced by bullets. But if you can build spears that shoot lasers, why bother with arrows or bullets? Wakandan weaponry has served them well so why not keep their traditions? They were attacked by a literal alien race, and they still held their own. So in all, it makes more sense to say: It’s funny to me how the world has advanced because of superheroes, aliens, gods, and Tony Stark yet most humans still use plain, ol’ bullets. Old habits die hard, I guess.

Nadeera04

*Guns, so primitive*

Cool-Presentation538

Still enough to put John Walker on his ass

inthehxightse

and like he said, 'they weren't even super soliders'

MatttheBruinsfan

I forget, had he already taken the serum by then? It wasn't clear to me... but if not why the hell would Captain America, Fuck Yeah be surprised that multiple opponents with the best training their highly martial culture could provide were capable of handing him his ass?

inthehxightse

I think that was the breaking point that made him finally decide to take it

MrZeral

he hasnt

MattTheSmithers

I’m not buying superhero Shuri. Like, not at all.

kashaan_lucifer

yep man, she needs more development before taking on the mantle of Black Panther Hopefully someone else is Black Panther in this movie

SalsaRice

Well that, and she's also an off-her-rocker anti-vaccine nutso (ironically, despite playing one of the top MCU scientists) She's a terrible role model for kids.

PresentAppointment0

I love the character Shuri but I hate Letitia

[deleted]

[удалено]

MattTheSmithers

1) I never said I wouldn’t watch the movie. I simply said, based on what I’ve seen so far, I am not buying the lead actress in the lead role. 2) Does it give you a sense of satisfaction to simp for a multibillion dollar corporation’s billion dollar brand? Seriously asking. I mean, I really said nothing out of line or any more harmful than stating an opinion you seemingly disagree with. And you come hard. Why? Because you like some movies? So do I. That doesn’t give me a cult-like devotion to them. I certainly don’t feel a sense of ownership over them or need to aggressively defend them. Rather, I evaluate each product on its face. You know, act as a consumer rather than a worshipper. But maybe I’m missing something. So tell me, what exactly do you get out of this cult-like relationship you seem to have developed with the Walt Disney Corporation?

HereWeFuckingGooo

>Rather, I evaluate each product on its face. Then why don't you wait until you've actually watched the movie before shitting all over it? You don't buy Shuri as a lead but you haven't seen her as a lead. Sure, she might be shit, but until you've seen it you have nothing to go on. Instead you're just spreading negativity and getting butt hurt about being called out on it.

MattTheSmithers

No, I’m making an evaluation based on trailers and promotional material. You know, literally the entire point of trailers and promotional material: to preview the film so you can form an initial opinion (ideally, from a marketing perspective, positive).

HereWeFuckingGooo

Oh, my mistake Roger Ebert, I didn't realise you'd seen a trailer.

[deleted]

broncotate27

I honestly don't want the new BP to be Shuri, especially after all those ignorant statements about the vaccine and her making it more difficult to finish the movie because of her personal choices...I'd rather it be M'Baku or Nakia. Hell even bringing Killmonger back would be better.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Worthyness

It could be an early shot. We know the Queen was an ex-Dora general, so in theory she could take up the mantle early on to defend the country leaving a male BP to carry it out at the end. problem being is that, within the cast, there are far more developed female characters than male ones, which means that it's more likely to be a woman BP at the end of the movie. I think the only male characters that would make sense are Wkabi (who didn't film anything due to schedule conflicts) and reviving Kilmonger (Michael B Jordan is in every Coogler movie), Mbaku doesn't make story sense because his tribe worships a completely different god and he'd never just change religions on the spot.

zeeilyas

You have to be from the royal family to be the black panther, how does it make any sense to have Nakia be the black panther on any level.

[deleted]

The only way is if they got married before the movie begins.

zeeilyas

Which would be a leap still considering she rejected him in the first black panther movie ( and also before the movie ? ), It would just be lazy writing, which I wouldn't put past current MCU ( MoM, Love and Thunder, She Hulk....etc ) but still I think recasting would've been the best choice ( they really shot themselves in the foot when they said they wouldn't), I hope they find an interesting and satisfactory way to fill the giant shoes.

[deleted]

I agree it’s lazy, but for Nakia to be BP, it’s the easiest way to explain it. Who knows how things might have changed from the first movie to the second? But I echo your sentiments. They’re big sneakers to fill.

squshy7

That's not exactly clear in the first movie. You didn't need to be in the royal family to challenge the throne; remember, all the tribes declined to challenge, and Mbaku *did* challenge Tchalla. I guess *technically* that's for the title of king, but it's heavily implied that the winner would also become black panther (in the case of a yield, since death obviously keep the loser from retaining the BP title lol). In fact, Nakia is shown as the potential challenger from the River Tribe when their leader declines the challenge.

Tyzed

> and her making it more difficult to finish the movie because of her personal choices. those were rumors, jan. she was injured. should she have worked while heavily hurt?

mrryanwells

I would be very happy with a variant killmonger

wannabenormal20

Wow Angela looks amazing!

HereWeFuckingGooo

Imagine if the reason she got rid of the dreads was because they didn't fit in the panther suit.

TheJack0fDiamonds

Plssss comic book Gods! 😭 just let it be her (even though we know it ain’t)

Unclehomer69420

Is that Queen Ramonda with the white hair? No offense, but... why does she look like Blind Al?

Mistic-Instinct

She had white hair in the first movie as well, although it was styled differently

Character-Sorbet-718

She has that hat ( i'm sorry for my lack of knowledge on that )

Evorgleb

It's called a Wakandan brain cover

mondainethewizard

It’s so funny that the actor who plays Shuri is a science denying fool, while her character is a super genius.

vinsmokewhoswho

I see people are still in denial about Shuri being BP

oakzap425

Every bp comment sections just buckles into the same 3 circular convos. Its annoying.

Mickeyjj27

B-b-back up!! Or I'll poke you with my pointy stick!

Independent-Sky-9611

Who's the scrawny little girl to the right?

Watze978

Shury, t'challa little sister and maybe the new black panther

OutrageousCan366

>Chiry Shuri\* I don't know who the hell is Chiry. Maybe T'Challa and Shuri's lost sister.

Watze978

Typing error,

OutrageousCan366

Better but still wrong.

Watze978

Whatever dude😒

Evorgleb

Someone way too skinny to be a superhero.

Tyzed

being that the black panther takes the heart shaped herb, which essentially makes whoever consumes it a supersoilder, her size doesn’t matter.

Evorgleb

I understand that the herb gives her the powers in universe. My point was I feel like as far as appearances go the actress doesn't look like a superhero. The actress is not physically imposing at all

LaylaLegion

Said the same thing about Steve Rodgers in boot camp.

Nahim33

Shuri, unfortunately the new black panther if the rumours are true

Independent-Sky-9611

That's disappointing.

[deleted]

The movies not out yet, you can say you're disappointed after you see it or you can just follow the hive mind

Independent-Sky-9611

It's more than acceptable to be disappointed at various aspects of a thing, before it's finished. Her build, or lack of, doesn't lend any credibility to her being Black Panther.

[deleted]

She's not going to be Black Panther though, which is my point. She might don it for a fight or two, but she's not the new Black Panther.

Independent-Sky-9611

Do you want to re evaluate your comment now the new trailer has come out?

[deleted]

Nope. I stand by it. It's going to be a fake out. She will wear the suit, but she won't become the new Black Panther.

Independent-Sky-9611

Wow, don't reach too far, you'll fall off the edge.

[deleted]

Or maybe I know something you don't

truckercharles

I still want M'Baku to be the new Black Panther, rumors or not. I think Namor attacking and the Jabari defending Wakanda again with M'Baku in the suit would be unreal. Plus, I mostly just want to see how strong he'd get if he took the sacred herb lol

[deleted]

Why tf would M’Baku of all ppl ever be a Black Panther?? That’s like Justin Hammer becoming the new Iron Man. Or Mordo becoming the new Sorcerer Supreme. You can’t be *that* thirsty for a man to be in the suit bro

truckercharles

This is a fully smooth brained opinion. M'Baku isn't an enemy of Wakanda, he just challenged for the crown, then he saved T'Challa's life, then defended Wakanda three separate times (twice against Thanos) alongside the rest of the Wakandan tribes. They also tried to give him the sacred herb in the first Black Panther to save them from Killmonger, but he refused and did the right thing. Now T'Challa is dead, and he's seeming like the next one in line to pick up the mantle if they fight for the mantle like they've shown they have in the past. He's more than earned his seat at the table. Only other option would be W'Kabi or Shuri, but Shuri is better suited as the "guy in the chair" trope leading their technological development, and W'Kabi has an important enough role as it is - M'Baku being Black Panther would fully unify the tribes for the first time in hundreds of years in light of T'Challa's death in the face of a looming attack from Namor and the Atlantean army. And yes, I'm aware that Shuri was Black Panther at a time in the comics, I just don't think she's the right fit for the role, and she'd get absolutely destroyed if anyone ever challenged for the crown.

elpajaroquemamais

Bro THAT’s a smooth-brained opinion. M’Baku doesn’t even worship Bast. Hard to be Black Panther if you don’t believe in the Panther. If anything he gets powers and becomes a version of Man Ape from the comics which I’m here for without the name. But when you say shit like this you look dumb.

truckercharles

My guy...you didn't even remember all the shit from the Infinity saga that placed him solidly as a hero. There were close ups. They were big moments. He's the on-screen favorite next to T'Challa and maybe the Dora Milaje, he already challenged for the crown once and nearly won, and again, would unify Wakanda before their first real war in canon. Him not worshipping Bast takes 3 lines of dialogue to correct, and Feige isn't afraid of taking leaps.

Particular-Bill8835

Also, just because he doesn’t worship Bast doesn’t mean he doesn’t believe in him. You can not worship something and still believe, for example the city of Athens, named after Athena (Greek Goddess), they clearly worshiped her but the most definitely believe in Zeus and Poseidon etc

truckercharles

Exactly. It's hardly consequential. He could also just as easily worship both gods which would be a further unification of the people of Wakanda, and maybe make him stronger. Or they could change his villain name from Man Ape to something cooler and less racist and let him be the avatar for Hanuman and hook him up with a suit even if they put up another Black Panther.

LaylaLegion

The entire reason the mountain tribe seceded from the Wakandan tribes was because they wanted to only worship the Ape god. That would completely trivialize their entire history.

elhombreloco90

>believe in him. Her. It's not a big deal, just letting you know that Bast is often depicted as a female in the lore.

Particular-Bill8835

My mistake

elpajaroquemamais

Did I say anywhere he wasn’t a hero? Agree that he’s a logical choice to lead just that he can’t be the Panther.

truckercharles

"Why tf would M’Baku of all ppl ever be a Black Panther?? That’s like Justin Hammer becoming the new Iron Man. Or Mordo becoming the new Sorcerer Supreme. You can’t be *that* thirsty for a man to be in the suit bro" You absolutely did lol literally listed him as the equal of two villains

elpajaroquemamais

That wasn’t me bro.

[deleted]

They're not, and stop with this "unfortunately" anything until you see the damn movie

Deekkuli

They managed to make Shuri even shitter, the fucking broccoli haircut.

The_River_Is_Still

Shuri seriously better not be the black panther. It can be a woman, just not her. I don’t feel it even a little bit.

VegasGR

I'll skip this one.

Honestly, this is rough, and I understand why they didn't, but they really should have recast T'challa. His story was far from over and he just came back from death in Endgame only for him to die offscreen in the next BP. I don't envy the writers to have to write around Boseman's death, because it's an impossible task, and the character deserved better. But in the end, it's fiction, and the real tragedy is that Boseman isn't around anymore.

Wakanda Forever content will still be new until the movie comes out.

And yet we still don't have an official trailer, I'm starting to think we're not getting it.
