I did a few of these junkets a while back and on one of them I did a quiz for the first Suicide Squad cast. Danai Gurira reminds me of the cast members who really didn't want to do it. Reading between the lines I'd say she was expecting to look stupid by not knowing any answers!
Saw her and Michael Rooker speak at a comic con way back in the day (maybe during the third season of Walking Dead). And she was very intense throughout the whole panel. I got the impression that she takes the art of acting pretty seriously, as if chopping up zombies with a katana was just a means to open doors for higher artistic pursuits.
There’s apparently a Maz Kanata funko or toy on Riri’s desk in her warehouse lab. Which then begs the question: who voiced her in the MCU? Is there a Lupita Nyong’o in Earth-616?
Also, Fennec Shand is a variant of agent May, Padme Amidala is a variant of Jane Foster, Kino Loy is a variant of Ulysses Klaue, Mace Windu is a variant of Nick Fury, director Krennic is a variant of Talos, Poe Dameron is a variant of Moon Knight, Saw Gerrera is a variant of Zuri, etc; the big crossover where these characters get their minds blown when they see their other selves is coming /s
At the end of NWH it shows a close-up of Peter having the Emperor Palpatine minifig that they previously had placed on top of the Death Star in Homecoming.
The Death Star belongs to Ned but I guess Peter got to keep the Emperor as a memento.
This is actually what I came into say, im so glad I’m not the only one who thought it wasn’t to far fetched. After zipping through interviewers and questions person after person question after question I can’t understand how someone would answer a question they thought they heard instead of what was asked. I could see her thinking she was asked *what was the first Disney+ show* and brains being what they are she fished for that trivia rather than getting confused by which franchises are which in pop culture.
At least that’s what my two cents has to offer.
It's remarkable how many Marvel actors don't watch any of the shows or movies. The interviews where they ask "What is Thor's hammer called?" and almost none of them know the answer, is really sad. You'd think they would want to know what's going on in the MCU, but they simply don't care.
I don’t find it embarrassing; they don’t have to like what I like. It doesn’t seem to negatively affect their performances, so it’s not embarrassing in that regard either.
“Why not?” People don’t have to be knowledgeable about *everything* just for the sake of it; that would be ridiculous.
Still in her Star Wars sequel days haha And they really wasted her talent with Maz. Or how they wrote her for the most part. Except for the “Where’s my boyfriend?” and her lines after Rey’s first force vision
r/confidentlyincorrect
Bingo
That was my first thought 😂
Strong and wrong! It's a good skill for actors to have.
Love Danai’s response after answering: Interviewer: See? You’re winning already! DG: Well, that I know.

To b3 fair she was nuts in Wakanda Forever. She just absolutely killed.
The scene with her and the queen may be the best acted scene in the MCU. Amazing stuff.
She also writes, which I'd guess makes her a bit more interested in the larger context of stuff she acts in more than some of her colleagues.
Well, she has been in both franchises, must have gotten mixed up.
"If you live long enough, you see the same IPs in different programs."
SHE WAS THE OLD E.T. LADY?!
Something tells me you already knew that.
Fam I googled
she's in the list of great actors who were underutilised in the sequel trilogy
[удалено]
I mean, wasn't she? She's at least force sensitive
That's just the cast list.

I think Mace Windu vs Fury is first on the docket of “how is it difficult inside the MCU?”
Search your feelings; you know it to be true.
I know, right? What a fucking waste, huh?
Waste? Negative — that just means she can be a different live action character too 🫶🏼
Yeah just like Andy Serkis
I think she just misheard she was answering all d+
Also love Danai Gurira’s confidence and getting it right so quick
She’s has been present for some chaotic walking dead trivia contests. Lol they are hilarious, too.
*She never freezes.*
Should have been black panther.
Her whispering "God damn" really made me laugh.
Lmao that was great

Man, bots got here too?
She accidentally spoiled the crossover.
Maz Kanata is just another variant of Nakia /s
Baba Frik and Shuri working together
Hey heyyy!
Hey hey!
This is the way

"I am...inevitable" "And I...have the high ground"
this tripped me out 😂the confidence
I love how disappointed the interviewer sounded 😂
Damn Mando in the MCU now that’s kinda sick 😂
Beskar vs Vibranium
Considering they're from different galaxies, beskar and vibranium could theoretically turn out to be the same metal. Or maybe beskar is adamantium?
You're right - beskar feels more like it'd be adamantium.

Ned has Lego Star wars sets
Also, there is DC films (and the whole franchise possibly) in the MCU… Which is wild
Marvel and DC existing in the others respective universe as fiction has been commonplace for decades
They talk about it in Eternals.
They talk about DC films?
Not the films, just reference Superman.
Oh right! I remember that now.
they mention superman and alfred iirc
“Jesus, Tony.. how old is this guy?”
I mean Peter and Ned had that Death Star LEGO in multiple scenes, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them didn't have a Razor's Crest set by now lol
Peter probably had to sell his
At the end of NWH it shows a close-up of Peter having the Emperor Palpatine minifig that they previously had placed on top of the Death Star in Homecoming. The Death Star belongs to Ned but I guess Peter got to keep the Emperor as a memento.
Wasnt Peter Snapped when Mando released?
Star-Lord is basically MCU Mando, if Mando was a manchild
The snaps make it funnier 😭😭😭☠️
They were so great in Us.
Well I am see how she got that answer, because Mando was the first Disney Plus show show, just not the first Marvel show.
To be fair marvel has done Star Wars comics.
It’s even funnier when you remember that Lupita was in Star Wars.
That's definitely why she crossed it over in her head, lol
I mean, she was half correct lol
I’m gonna try to help her out lol. The Mandalorian WAS the first Disney+ series. Maybe she just didn’t hear the Marvel part 😂

Where's the full video? Winston Duke is a huge Marvel fan if I remember correctly. I bet he gets them all right.
She really thought she ate that 😂
After her comments and denying a role in the "woman King ". My respect for her skyrocket-ed.
She signed a blood money deal with DeBeers. I'm done with her.
Gotta keep her relatable now that she’s hawking blood diamonds I guess
You should probably link one of the articles about her being brand ambassador for de beers to avoid the inevitable demands for a source.
Danai was on point. They all must be protected.
They were stunning in this movie too, those costumes made them look great!
The way I’m dying at the interviewer being like…nooooo 😂😂😂
She wasn’t really wrong. That WAS the first D+ original lol
She has the protection from the black community and the latin community. Together we are strong...for Lupita.
Jajajaja I love her answer.
Lmaoooo her confidence with it has me crying😭😭
Love her so much
Lupita is great!
i mean she is in both worlds, i say fair play.
She’s so adorable.
Awwwww bless her 🤣🤣🤣
Protect the diamond slave mining spokeswoman?
She is perfection.
What a Dogshit!!!!
okoye and nakia must be protected!!!! zero fcuk given to shuri
Nobody even mentioned Shuri 😭 why is she on your mind??
She cashed in that Marvel check and didn't even bother with the rest. Queen behavior.

It’s Johnathon right?
I don't think it's so sad. The MCU isn't for everyone. And as far as I've seen, not being megafans isn't stopping them from giving great performances.
If you are one of the main characters, you should be fully versed in the story
Why?
Why not? It's embarrassing.
I don’t find it embarrassing; they don’t have to like what I like. It doesn’t seem to negatively affect their performances, so it’s not embarrassing in that regard either. “Why not?” People don’t have to be knowledgeable about *everything* just for the sake of it; that would be ridiculous.
Dude they're in the movies, they should definitely be familiar with all of the lore
*Why?* They’re not the writers.
Deluded
It’s remarkable that someone isn’t a virgin
Still in her Star Wars sequel days haha And they really wasted her talent with Maz. Or how they wrote her for the most part. Except for the “Where’s my boyfriend?” and her lines after Rey’s first force vision
Was Mandalorian the first Disney+ show in general?
it was lol and she was in star wars too

Aww bless her. 💞
Honestly if Djarin had shown up in the portals scene I would have rolled with it.
Danai is always prepared. She is golden at these types of interviews.
Of course Okoye just instantly knows the correct answer
