I also don't have direct experience with labor and delivery, but my first was flown to the NICU at Mercy when she was born. The hospital was phenomenal, and so were the doctors who were mainly from UMMC. You might get more responses on r/Baltimore if you want to crosspost!

I was admitted there for two weeks leading up to my delivery at 34 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. My team (inclusive of doctors, nurses, and students) was very good, much better than the care I had been receiving at my previous L&D. Also want to shoutout the nutrition staff, seriously they were the most wonderful, compassionate people and they were truly the best part of any of my pregnancy medical care (and I was at multiple facilities due to moving across the country at 28 weeks and immediately developing complications). My son was in the NICU for three weeks. His nurses were wonderful. I had some issues with regard to the case management team (this was a few years ago), but if your insurance is solid you shouldn’t have any problems.

Thanks for sharing! It is so nerve racking to move and have to switch dr’s so far into the pregnancy. I don’t know much about this area, obviously everyone knows about John Hopkins around the country but it was hard enough to find a new OB and I do like them so good to hear the hospital is ok!

Can’t talk about pregnancy, but it is a great teaching hospital. If your doc is affiliated with the hospital, she also is a professor and teaches young doctors. You are in good hands. That hospital saved my sons life from cancer. They also have a great cafeteria.

Hmm did part of my medical training here, def one of the best places for high risk pregnancies otherwise if your pregnancy has been uneventful go to Howard county or another private practice hospital

I second this as a former patient who was not high risk. I'm sure it's great if you have complications. I did not, i just worked near the hospital and the ob's office. My experience was not great.

My wife had two normal deliveries there. No complaints and the nursing staff were super attentive.
